You poor thing. It's a wonder I haven't a cold. My Sil flew to Wellington on Monday night and when he got there they turned off his Dads Life Support. So it's a sad time for our family but S had to fly home Tuesday because the Fire Hydrant on the road blew and I woke up to Waterfalls all over the property , slips, mud, etc. It's a major but the house is safe, although the front deck has shifted. I'll try and send you some photos when my son comes up. The driveway has sunk and the parts in front if the house are gone. Our mowed paddock down below is covered with the earth from the banks that are no longer there. We have gaping holes. Pipes exposed. We have signs up warning people to keep out if certain areas and a sign on the gate. The phone lines were taken out but power which is overhead is ok. We have had all sorts of people here so we now know what it's like to deal with all the Experts. The contractors for the Water Company have been useless. We have had Engineers of all descriptions, earthquake commission. Insurance adjusters. Building experts, blah , blah, blah. They have only today sent trucks to start the clean up but the hoses were useless and so off they went and a bigger truck was sent. Our neighbour told them not to bring it down the drive because it was too heavy and we have enough damage. They ran hoses from the road but the mud and silt refuse to be pumped up. They gave up. New plan tomorrow. I'm so sick of mud. The dogs and cats hate it as well. My son is helping sort it out as a and S have driven back to Wellington. J's Funeral is on Monday. M7 and K5 are fast asleep. The three dogs are asleep and the cats want to come in. So I will sort them out and crawl into bed.

Oh my goodness! What a dreadful time for you all! I hope someone is stepping up to cover all the costs for you or does it have to be through your insurance? Lucky you were there or not? Weren't you supposed to be at the beach for the week? I'm so sorry you are going through this.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-16 06:49:00

Yes I came back from the beach with K when We knew J was going on Life Support. Lucky I was home to help A. Water company trying to pass buck but ultimately they will end up paying.Too many of these experts have worked with them before and know how to deal with them . Thank goodness. We cannot put a digger on the property until all reports Are in because it may not be stable enough. Meantime stressville city. Ha ha.

I can just imagine the mess. You poor things. I suppose any wet weather won't be helping either.

It hasn't rained yet. Fingers crossed. Water Co talking about an offer already. They must think we are stupid. We aren't ha ha. Funeral is on Monday so kids won't be home until after that so they told them to leave them alone until reports are in. Very complicated process sigh. A friend of A's took M7 for the day and K was picked up by his Mum so I just have M7 for the night. I'm so tired it's a blessing just having one. She is no trouble and very helpful. K was so cranky he has missed his mum. The dogs are in and the cats are in at the other end of the house so it's bedtime very soon. No knitting. My Sil told me to put the dogs in the Kennels but I didn't have the energy to load them into the car and drive anywhere. They aren't much work really but no walks. They curl up and sleep so guess they are worn out as well haha.

So very luck the water didn't come into the houses by the sound of it. Were your neighbours affected as well? Can you save much from your gardens?

grizzly4 - 2015-04-18 06:41:00
6657

One neighbour below us. The new owner poor thing. He got mud and silt all over his decks and his drains had to be unblocked. If it rains heavily he will get it all again sigh. My front garden on the left side of the drive in front of my cottage is fine but the planting on the banks are buried down below. My raspberry patch is gone. I'll wait until the kids come home to try and find some underneath the mud. Some of them are old varieties and special. Strawberries gone too. M7 had another day out with friends so I'm up to date with housework, washing, etc. Left an outside light on all night so I can look at the window and check because of the rain. Wasn't too bad. I had to go and put the water pump on today and that was a mission. Took my cellphone in case ha ha.

I don't suppose whoever finally accepts the cost won't replace plants? You are amazing, I couldn't deal with all that with everyone else away. You'll need another holiday away soon.
I am stiff and sore all over this morning after nearly 4 hours on the quad yesterday. Now that son is sorted with replacing his three wheelers with quads for DIL and himself I am no longer sharing. Makes a big difference with what I can practice and the confidence I can build up by the time I'm too knackered to do any more. LOL.

I think we get $2000 for landscaping. It will be a tedious process. Another Engineer was here today with my son testing the structure of the house. I'm being lazy now for an hour. Then I have to cook cupcakes for
Uncles before K5 arrives from school. T is flying back tonight with M7 and J4 so I'll have three for the night. You'll be a whizz on your Quad Bike in no time now.

makerealbany - 2015-04-20 13:51:00
6660

I'll never be a whizz, LOL. I'd need to be fearless or stupid. I think too much about what if's in everything I do. Makes for great risk management but not for great risk taking. LOL. Oooh, imaging getting to spend $2000 on plants. But I guess that has to cover the cost of getting the land prepared and planted as well. Such a shame about those old raspberries. I am currently working on a wee jersey that has been ordered by a customer from last year. Everyday I set a goal of sewing up that blue cardy.... hasn't happened yet and now it's cold enough to hem those new jeans I bought before Christmas as well (LOL) and wear them together. What a hope!

I knitted 4 rows of a red beanie last night and gave up I was so tired. We drove K up to school and went home this morning. M and J were too tired to go after their late flight home last night. A and S drove back from Wellington today. I said Hi when they arrived tonight and then left to drive back to the beach. I intend to take it slow tomorrow. Feeling it all. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2015-04-21 23:56:00
6662

How long are you at the Beach for? On your own? I hope you get a decent rest. I actually sewed the ends in and started sewing in one of the sleeves on my cardy yesterday morning before work. Might have to be a little bit every day till it's done. LOL. I have the Breast screen and cervical cancer people speaking to the Women's Group this morning with some of the staff joining in as well. Should be interesting. My cold seems to be finally easing off but coldsores are the unpleasant after affect.

Hi Everyone....Does anyone have a brother scan and cut? If so what do think of them as apposed to a cricut????

tinarc - 2015-04-22 11:06:00
6664

No I'm not on my own dash it. Ha ha. Staying at my daughters and getting K5 to school, etc. At lest I have the day to myself. Nearly fell asleep in the chair today. Relaxing. Going to knit for awhile and have an early night.

makerealbany - 2015-04-22 20:57:00
6665

Sorry tinarc, I haven't tried either.

I. and S. and I went out for dinner last night on a whim. Went all the way across town to a place I hadn't been to in a year. Lots of laughs but I. and I had to drag ourselves out of bed this morning. I have an early meeting and a late one tonight so it's going to be a long day. Had a good supervision session yesterday. We talked about my 2 work personalities: the worrier who thinks in the what if's and the one who trusts in her abilities and has faith in what needs to happen or let be. I am definitely both those (most people probably are) but its finding that point in between that I can consciously stop from moving to far into the worrier side. My supervisor suggested having a 'touchstone' of some sort to physically bring myself back from the brink, so to speak. I like that idea, now I have to find that something that means enough to have that influence. LOL.
I have both sleeves sewn into cardy now after half an hour working on it before work yesterday. Hopefully I can do some more this morning. Still working on a wee jersey order for the shop in the evenings. Just have the cross over neck to do on that but I have to find the right size circular needle. I'm sure I broke it working on a blanket last year.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-23 06:46:00
6666

Let me know what you use as a touchstone lol. I have a piece if old Kauri Gum that belonged to my Koro. It's very polished now ho ho. Wasn't feeling the best today when I woke so was stumbling around for the first few hours. Had a headache which is a rare occurrence for me. It disappeared after K's swimming lesson. So we went to Countdown on the way home. I have nearly finished the red Beanie and scarf set. I've been lagging a bit since I jammed my finger in the gate the other day. I've got a cold sore as well. Our bodies are telling us something grizzly mmmmmmm. I was going to drive down to Mums this weekend for Anzac but Mum has told us out of towners that she doesn't want us to go and see her. Sooooo neither of us are going. Mum is getting very difficult lately. I'm relieved in a way but sad in another. Ah well I'll go to a Service up here.

makerealbany - 2015-04-23 23:48:00
6667

That's exactly what I mean by a touchstone! I knew you'd understand. Hopefully the right thing will jump out at me soon. LOL. Ouch the gate episode sounds painful, I cringed reading that bit. I used a new circular needle (nearly $8! for a short one) to pick up the stitches then realised it wasn't a full round anyway (grrr) so I went back to normal needles to knit up the neck. The circular needle drives me nuts. Do you think your Mum will regret not having you there over the weekend? I have a friend going through the same sort of thing with her Mum. My friend has been very stressed trying to figure out whether her Mum actually realises the consequences of what she says sometimes and it always comes back as being my friend's fault. She's practising tough love at present but I don't think her Mum will get that either.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-24 06:49:00
6668

Mum is getting rather naughty lately and expects me to just drop everything and go see her when she wants me to for the most trivial things. My sis in Hamilton is getting the same. Then when we want to go and can go she says she doesn't want us to. The Dawn Service back home is very special to us. We could have gone and stayed in a motel and not visited Mum but she is right there by the Church and the Cemetery so if we had gone our family back home would have seen us and who knows what her reaction would have been. One minute we are in, the next we are out. Awful.
I rarely use the circular needles because they drive me nuts. Ha ha Finished my set. Not sure what to start on so I have just knitted some baby beanies for the hospital. I have a dozen to give to my daughter. Went to lunch with M7 and J4 to give my daughter a break. She is looking very worn out. Still waiting on all the engineering reports. Plus she had a report to write for one of her contracts. J had a meltdown after lunch so we brought him home and Then we went back and had a girls day shopping lol. M picked out a lovely top as well as trousers for me. She looked so confident searching the Sales racks at Farmers, Women were smiling, listening to her comments" Not that Nana too fuddy duddy. Ugly colours, etc. In the fitting room she was so pleased when I tried her choices and they looked great. She has her mother's sense of style. Ha ha. Then I got her to help me select a handbag to match my red shoes . That was fun as she posed with the bags. Good colour matching as well. We went into the Crystal shop to have a browse and she bought a little Dragon. Dragons and Monster Dolls are in Barbie is out. Told me she was going to sell her Barbies but not the clothes I made for her. They fit her Monster Dolls. We had a very relaxed time together.

makerealbany - 2015-04-25 23:45:00
6669

Sounds lovely. I'll bet J regrets the melt down. My blue cardy is finished!!!! And I'm very pleased with it. Also wee jersey order for shop is finished and housework done and painting in bathroom done. Plus 3 hours out on the bikes. Great day yesterday. I felt ill hearing about the e/quake in Nepal after having a nasty one here on Friday that was actually centred in Kaikoura. Mum and Dad have had a few in the last few days around them in Blenheim as well.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-26 09:57:00
6670

Yes he did. Came over early and asked if I could take him to the library to change his books so off we went with M in tow. Got our books then went to feed the ducks. Then we got an ice cream and the kids had turns on the Flying Fox. They were having such fun it was a shame to have to come home again. This afternoon I had a visitor and A took the children up to T's for the night. By the time my visitor had gone it was tea time lol. Im still nervous when it rains here Id be a real cot case if we had an earthquake.

makerealbany - 2015-04-26 22:45:00
6671

Great day again yesterday. Another afternoon out on the bikes. We find a way of getting down to the river from our new site which was wonderful fun again.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-27 09:54:00
6672

I read this sitting in my Pjs ha ha. Just did nothing at all today. Dozed on and off. Drove up here about 7. Still doing absolutely nothing. Somehow I feel more exhausted not doing anything ha ha. I'm on reserves. The bike rides sound really stimulating. Have to enjoy them while the weather is good .

makerealbany - 2015-04-27 21:05:00
6673

Absolutely agree about feeling more exhausted doing nothing. Yesterday morning was good cooking up a storm for the week but by lunch time we were hanging around waiting to see what the weather was going to do. I couldn't settle to knit and then by the time S and his family got here to go out on the bikes the rain started in earnest. Sigh. Such a waste of an afternoon. It would have been far better agreeing the weather was too dodgy early on and then I could have got something done. Back to work this morning, not sure I'm looking forward to that or not. Busy week ahead. I've done a couple of beanies over the weekend, too, like you and now working on a dolls layette.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-28 06:39:00
6674

I am so over technology, if it's not the computer at work then it's one of the photocopiers and now the phone/fax is on the blink! Admittedly it's probably been there nearly as long as I have but still.... LOL. Didn't realise I had caps lock on when doing online banking yesterday and couldn't work out why my password wasn't working till I'd been locked out!!! Rang the bank but can't remember my keyword (it's been so long) and obviously not one I use for everything else. Man at the call centre would offer no clues but wanted me to send a fax hence the issues with the fax machine - can't remember when I last sent one, to be honest. Finally sorted and then he never rang back before I left for the day. Grrr....

grizzly4 - 2015-04-29 07:00:00
6675

Yes it can be a blessing if it all works but on the other hand. Urg. It's got colder and the woollies are coming out lol. I'm on to another scarf and beanie set for K. What colour? You guessed it Red. I'm over knitting Red ha ha. I used my daughters bread maker today. It's a Tefal. A horrid piece of equipment. I will not be using it again. Weighed all ingredients and put them in according to the booklet. Just used it to mix the dough then I left it to rise and cooked two loaves in the oven. T has tried to bake bread in it 3 times and they have all turned out partially baked. I really had to knead the dough well so the bread maker is useless. I made sure to use bread baking flour, etc, etc. T is annoyed because it is the second useless bread maker she has had. She got it with her Fly Buy Points.

makerealbany - 2015-04-29 21:42:00
6676

That's a shame about the breadmaker! We have had ours for years and don't use it often. It's I.'s job to make the bread and he makes a wonderful cheese and herb loaf to go with our homemade soup and a spicey fruit loaf. Yumm... now I have cravings. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2015-04-30 06:36:00
6677

S and B6 were here when I got home from work. LOL. Had brought stuff with them to contribute to tea, had fed the cats and warmed up the lounge. Lovely to come home to. S is facing more medical procedures. She is bleeding internally where a piece of bowel has been stitched and has come away. She has so much scar tissue apparently that there is very little healthy tissue to which they can secure stitches. This is going to be an ongoing risk .Sigh. Trouble is she also has a UTI and they won't do anything till that clears. She has so many struggles, that girl. Between her health and her ex wanting huge amounts of child support now that there has been a law change and her income is significantly larger than his. Apparently their 50/50 arrangement doesn't count, it's all based on income. She has told him if he pushes through a claim she will go for full custody based on his drug use and violence. I hope it scares him off. Her accountant has also kept the records of all the debt she has paid off on her own from their marriage including HIS car, their wedding and honeymoon on the Gold Coast. He never paid a cent!! She always pays for school uniforms and the school fees and any medical costs for B. She works so hard for the money she makes and, I guess, he is missing the lifestyle she gave him. He asked if he was still getting birthday and Christmas presents from her this year as he knew what he wanted already! They've been apart for a year. A real piece of work.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-01 06:46:00
6678

Have you seen the thread our old friend smartgirl has started? "Please help me". I really feel for her after all the work she's done. I know most of the patterns are commercial ones, (I have a lot of them too) but it's just not nice for someone to try and sell them through the same outlet. No wonder she's not posting on here any more - she's far too busy knitting! LOL. A role model for the rest of us to be sure.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-02 07:05:00
6679

Poor S. I feel for her and you. It's awful having one medical problem that causes another and another. The last thing she needs is her Ex demanding extra money. He is a nasty piece of work alright. What a bloody cheek. Presents indeed. Yes smartgirl is too busy knitting lol. Someone always copies but you are right it's not nice trying to sell them on here as well. I have had a couple of bad days health wise but feeling better today. Didn't sleep a wink last night with the pain and did not want to take stronger meds as they tear my stomach lining. It will pass. Just sorting out wool tonight . Not sure what to knit next ha ha.

makerealbany - 2015-05-02 20:48:00
6680

Sorry to hear you haven't been well and hope you feel better soon. Definitely cool enough here to put the fan away till next summer so had to pull all the bags of wool out of the cupboard in the spare room to put it away. Found wool I'd forgotten I had. LOL. Warm enough today though to wash the bikes, trailer and the cars. Good job done and I've cleared the herb garden out for a fresh start as well, Then went for a drive, a coffee and to look at prices for a welder for I. Lovely, peaceful Sunday.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-03 17:49:00
6681

Still struggling dash it. Lol. Didn't do much even after a visit from my naughty grandchildren ha ha. Cool here too. I wore a Merino Jersey today.

makerealbany - 2015-05-03 23:46:00
6682

Naughty grandchildren make you feel worse not better! And staying up so late won't help either LOL. I need to get my act together knitting wise. I'm only taking a few small things into shop this morning, I seem to have slowed down considerably, not sure why. We do seem to be going to bed by 9.30 lately instead of 10.30 so that's a few missed hours knitting per week, I guess. Just can't keep my eyes open beyond then. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-04 06:27:00
6683

How are you feeling, makerealbany? On the mend, I hope?

grizzly4 - 2015-05-05 06:52:00
6684

Feeling much better today. Yesterday was daunting legally but ok in the end. Today I have a long list to get through at my daughters. We still haven't managed to find a good Nanny. They do not want to start at 5.30 in the morning. Ha ha unlike us Nanas. I have to go back home later to grab my wool bag and material for K6 for a school project . Book another appointment at my GP's and then try to book a haircut mmmmmm.

makerealbany - 2015-05-05 09:30:00
6685

Ha! A job is a job, so they are not looking to work, are they? Look how many people are on the road, off to work at that time. After delaying appointment because I was too busy, I finally had my haircut done yesterday. LOL. Customer came into the shop on Monday with a bag of wool and a few patterns for me to knit up for her. One was a ball of 3ply for a bonnet but no patter so I thought I would try a 'Nostalgic' pattern. I have to say it beat me. Pulled it out after spending a whole evening trying to get the first pattern sequence right. I can't remember when that last happened. LOL. Doing another pattern now, needless to say.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-06 06:44:00
6686

Omg I just posted a large message and lost it drat. Anyway short version lol. Today flu v in left arm, Tetnus shot in right arm , nitro sulphate on lump on leg which is now a massive blister. Very funny as I cannot do a thing so going to bed.

makerealbany - 2015-05-06 21:24:00
6687

Good grief, the cure sounds worse than the ailment. I hope you managed to sleep well. I finally managed to finish the 3ply beanie, it took 3 evenings which is ridiculous. I've started the first cardy for the order, also 3ply which is doing my bad hand no end of grief. The pattern is very old that the customer has given me. She is trying to replicate the clothes that she wore as a baby for her grand daughter!

grizzly4 - 2015-05-07 06:48:00
6688

How are you feeling, makerealbany? And how are things going with the flood damage? I'm not looking forward to this morning. I have a meeting with the new accountant who is going to try and figure out why I can't download the software I've bought online to accept his accounting stuff. Technology is going to be the bain of my life, it causes me no end of grief at work and I feel completely dense when I can't make it work.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-08 06:45:00
6689

I'm starting to come right but my lump is still huge and ugly. Ha ha. Looks very angry at being disturbed. EQC have accepted the claim, Insurance have accepted, etc. They are now pricing it all. A and S now have their Engineer and his team costing it all as well. Getting there slowly. That pattern sounds difficult. I have just sewn up 6 adult beanies. Now I'm going to do some hand stitching on a quilt until I am tired. I'm supposed to cook some Cupcakes for K's Birthday Party tomorrow. I will do them tonight because I have to decorate them. I took 15 mins ordering K's Lunch online this morning . The darn thing wouldn't accept my order . I knew I had credit in there so it was so darn frustrating. Finally it recognised me duh. I do not like technology.

makerealbany - 2015-05-08 21:36:00
6690

Right there with you! Accountant was great, accessed the download and it wasn't anything I had been doing wrong, thank goodness. While he was there he loaded the new whippy doo spreadsheet I'm going to use and he gave me a quick run down. He also took all the boxes away for the audit to save me a trip. LOL. I didn't get that 'yahoo' feeling when I finally conquer something difficult because he did it for me but at least I'm looking forward to playing with my spreadsheet next week.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-09 09:19:00
6691

Playing with your spreadsheet ha ha. They can be really useful lol. Went to Kelly Tarltons Sea Park. The trouble T had just booking the party Venue and Tour was a nightmare. We found out today from our guide that it's now owned by an Australian Company and the Administration is all out sourced . No wonder we had one idiot after another calling from there. We had a great time there and the kids loved it but it's very expensive and we would not have a Birthday Party there again. They never even told us the correct entrance to get in to the Party Room. We had to carry all our food out again and walk up the road with it all to go in the Exit Gate. Duh.

makerealbany - 2015-05-09 23:14:00
6692

We have the same admin problems with Inflatable World here, although I'm not sure who owns that. You'd think they would want the revenue large groups bring in, don't you. We take 30 children at a time on trips but gave up after being contacted by all 3 sites not knowing what they were doing. I actually had to stay home yesterday when they took the bikes out. I've come to realise that it is mentally hard work as well as physical being out there because I'm still at the thinking stage of what I have to do whereas I. and son S. just do it. I have a small coming from a drain that we need to get someone to look at this week but before that happened I wanted to make sure one of the cats hadn't left a bird etc in the garden nearby so I weeded, cleared out some of the foliage and dead leaves to make sure. Unfortunately that wasn't the case so now have to go down the tradie route. After finishing the end of month stuff for the shop I was actually able to sit and knit for a while before the boys came home. Their trip was shortened as S's quad blew a tyre. They still looked like they had enjoyed themselves, though.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-11 06:29:00
6693

My Internet went off line. Just got it back tonight. That's what I get for talking about technology ha ha. Had a visit with my youngest granddaughter on Sunday. It was nice and she is growing so tall. I took her a bag of clothes and toys M7 wanted her to have. She always takes everything out of the bag one at a time then makes her Dad put it all back in. One at a time lol.
Today was another stressful legal day ugh. T still has a sore throat and cannot go into work at the hospital so I am at home tonight and loving it. Started knitting a black beanie for my eldest son who asked for another one. He always loses them sigh. I do not like knitting black at night but that's the only colour the boys wear. I found a dead hedgehog in one of our drains. We have a few around so I leave water out now.

makerealbany - 2015-05-11 22:51:00
6694

I thought maybe that's what happened in our drain but I don't think they can get through the grates. Drain person coming in the next couple of days I think. Left it to I. to organise. Silly me LOL. I am so worried about daughter S. She is up for surgery again! She's in a lot of pain again, not sure if I mentioned they stitched her bowel to scar tissue which has broken away but on checking that they have found another 4 cm tumour on the same site they removed one in February! 'They' don't know why they are growing so fast but are planning to take that piece of bowel this time. The other worry is her white blood cell count is really low. Another 'don't know why'. ! There are so many things they can't give answers for I starting to fear the worst is going to enter the mix. She is also running around looking after a new 'bloke' who's father was killed in a car accident last week. So far she has supported him through the funeral arrangements, helped clean up the house etc and his Mum is now one of her tenants. She is always picking up the men who are needier than herself. Grrr.

grizzly4 - 2015-05-12 06:43:00
6695

S. rang me at work today with the best news I've had for a while! All her tests have been sent to Auckland as usual and the surgeon got a call from up there just before S's appointment yesterday to set next surgery dates. They have found what's causing the tumours! It's an enzyme that can easily be treated and by medication subsidised by the government as she will need to be on it for life. The latest tumour has turned out to be water mass from the irritation of other things happening and the scans have shown that the piece of bowel that had broken free of stitches was still ok and now that they have found the answer (I hope) they think it should mend itself naturally and that another course of antibiotics will sort the irritation stuff. Her low white blood cells and really thin blood are due to practically no iron in her system so they have to sort that out as well. The surgeon says considering how low her blood pressure is most of the time and now no iron he has no idea how she's still standing let alone doing what she normally does in a day. LOL. He didn't see how she ran be ragged as a child! But I am so happy to think there might be an end to all of this. Still the endo and diverticulitis forever but it's a start in the right direction.
I've just realised I have a week off planned for the week of the 25th but not sure if it's going to happen as I now have 2 new staff to employ before then, plus funding plus a new spreadsheet system to work before GST is due again. Sigh, a break would be so nice. I have a meeting over in Lyttelton this morning which means a drive through the dreaded road tunnel. Lyttelton was the epicentre for big February e/quake and with another biggie yesterday in Nepal it's been playing on my mind again. Don't laugh but I'm throwing sneakers in the car 'just in case' I have to walk over the hill to get home. Mind you I might consider risking the tunnel rather than leaving my car behind again. LOL. Big breath....letting it go.....

Omg you are dealing with a lot grizzly. I'm so pleased that they have finally come up with some solutions to some of S's health problems. I know what you mean about needy partners grrrr. I'm up at T's. She still has that virus although she is finally off to the Dr today but there is Whooping Cough running rampant in the hospital. K has a cough too and is at home. I am trying to avoid the bug lol. My leg is healing nicely. I have mountains of washing to get through today but after that I'm going to knit for awhile. I need blood tests and a haircut but can't be bothered today ha ha. I hate Tunnels at the best if times. When I was taking train rides in Europe I was a wreck until I got out. So many tunnels and bendy ones too ugh. I always have sneakers in my car. In the winter I put gumboots in because the sports fields are always wet and muddy. My girls used to laugh at me but guess what they are doing now . I got heaps of much needed goodies for Mother's Day so am spoiling myself with the lovely creams. At lest I smell nice ha ha.

Glad to hear about your leg. It's taken a while to clear up. Last thing you need is to catch whatever the family have got. Trip through tunnel went ok (of course) and I didn't need my sneakers. LOL. Sometimes it's easier to go with the silly ideas rather than over thinking the whole thing. I'm so busy at work trying to get stuff sorted before my week off and having to do a Child Protection workshop for 2 hours this morning and then having to help pack up the bakery stuff from our fundraiser this afternoon isn't helping. I'm hard at trying to get these knitting orders done for the shop as well. I've done the bonnet and one cardy, on to 2nd front of the 2nd cardy. Once that's done I will have to shift to another order for a cardy that's needed by the end of the month. The baby for the first order isn't due till end of July. But I do need to get it done because my regular items in the shop are going down fast. Phew. it's all go! Looks like I might get all of Saturday to potter at home till going to son's for L's birthday. He will be 8 on Monday, that's about how long we have been chatting. LOL.

We have been chatting for a long time my friend . I took M7 and J4 to School and Preschool this morning so A could wade through the legal mountains. I got home and she went off for her first appointment. Another Inspector for EQC turned up as the neighbours below have put a claim in and so has the Water Company lol. WC reckons the land slipped and that's why their Fire Hydrant Pipe Burst. I had to laugh. The Inspector said most likely the lawyers will fight it out. Ludicrous. At lest our claims are being processed . Then the Septic Tank Truck arrived. They have to empty our tank each week until they replace the Sewage Run Off Pipes down in the paddock. This is going to take months sigh. I'm going to put a loaf of bread on , cook some chicken for tea and then knit.

Fresh bread: comfort food, chicken: therapeutic, knitting: bliss. Good on you! Very stressful having all that happening around your home. Huge day at work yesterday, so pleased to be at home for a quiet evening of knitting. I am having to start early and finish later to get everything done at present. Working on accounts this morning then interviewing 3 job applicants then I have to work on one of our programmes. Not so full on, today, thank goodness. Then date night. LOL.

Miserable weather! But not as bad as poor Wellington. My sister lives on a hill in Ngaio, I wonder how her gardens are holding up with all the water. Although I think they are visiting Mum and Dad around this time. As you can tell I don't have much contact with her. LOL. I have the day to myself till a fish and chip tea tonight at our son's for L's birthday. Main job today is doing his cake. Decided on a Fast and Furious theme after much deliberation so I hope he likes it.
