Morning

A day off will probably recharge your batteries for the next lot of painting
Kiwimade.

Overcast and windy here but so far no rain, feel a bit mean wanting it as there are quite a few activities on around here today. Just been out and put a net over the grapes as found a large blackbird stealing them this morning and they aren't even ripe yet, I lost most of them last year to the birds so would like to get at least some of them this year.

Just need to do collar on little jacket and then a beanie to go with it, it has turned out well so will do another for niece's little girl. Then will have to do another ballet type Cardy for another great niece as told her mother I had one for her but have given it away so she will be waiting for it.
Also dyed 2 lots of sock wool a couple of days ago and fingers itching to see how it knits up so not short of things to do craftwise at present.

Have a good and relaxing day - if that is possible!

So much for getting Maddie's jumper sewn up lol, too busy gasbagging when we got to the hospital. Oh well, it will get done!

Lawns to do today, the lawn mower fairy I wished for was a no show lol so I'll get that job done as soon as I have finished my coffee. Then back to painting. Today I will finish all the white work, ready to do the cutting in with the sealant on the walls tomorrow. Gob stopper arrives Monday to plaster the new bit of gib board and when he has done his bit I will be able to paint the walls. Then doors to do and it will be finished.

Another nice day here - the showers promised for last night didn't eventuate so it will be back to watering the tomatoes this evening, ho hum!

Yesterday I wanted to crochet.. I thought Ill try a simple circle ( Only done one before).. As I was doing it I thought, Ohh I wish I was clever enough to make it frilly... And the following is what happened. I copied the instructions to a T... so maybe someone possessed my hands.

Morning ladies. The filly thing looks good popeye, you must have increased as you worked the last few rounds, otherwise it would be flat.

I've only got two more whole hexagons and 6 half-hexagons to do now to finish my blanket. I did heaps of hexagons yesterday but I didn't sew the ends in on them yesterday so I have a lot of ends to sew in - I know I should have done them as I went (like I did to start with) but I wanted to get them all done. Grrr. I have to make half-hexagons for two of the edges as the scallops are a bit too big without them. Haven't made a half-hexagon before, so even at my age I can discover new things to do.

Nothing exciting planned for today. Hope to do some sewing, and iron the lining for the curtain (which I hung last week). It will have to come down to have the lining attached (I washed the lining and it came up okay so don't need to make a new one) and then hopefully get the rest of these hexagons made. I've got a lot of them joined so maybe I can finish the blanket tomorrow if not today.

Lawns mowed, one of the things I love the most about selling the paddock is I don't have the huge frontage to mow!

Very pretty popeye, sometimes mistakes are meant to happen. Have you tried crocheting in cotton?

Right-o, will make a cuppa then onto painting. If all goes to plan, I should get what I want finished, finished by lunchtime.

I think I may have increased by accident right at the end of the row, but there would have been a gap if I hadn't done stitches in there.

But I sure like it anyway lol

I haven't tried in cotton Kiwimade, but I do have some... Will give it ago at some stage

morning ladies :) An outside day for me today, need to tidy around the garage so I can spray the cleaner stuff onto it. Suppose to rain on Wednesday so I want to get it all on so the rain can rinse it off and save me the job of waterblasting.

All the white work is painted, only have doors and walls to do. So am feeling quite chuffed with myself.

I suspect I won't be knitting again today, too much to get done before the painter arrives.

Good idea re putting the cleaner on now Kiwimade.

Oh Carole not good re too many stitches.. annoying eh.

I got some of the squares out last night that were given to me , there was a bundle of flouresant orange, but not enough for a blanket. so I got my orange which is slightly different and some fluro green I had. And will fill in some gaps.. Its going to be bright that's for sure. I have 8 squares to make, well 7 cos I did one last night.
Was going to join it with the green but Im just thinking it might be better with black, which sure would make the colours stand out.. And then I could just do it in the original orange and my green. Will weigh it later and see if Ill have enough.
The pain in my hands has eased a little, it was nasty as.

morning ladies :) I've been off colour the last two days, everything I ate went straight through me so yesterday afternoon I decided to have a nana nap. Slept for a few hours and then another seven last night so I guess I was tired!

I finished Maddy's jumper last night, even sewed on buttons. Just needs a light pressing before I take a pic and then send it to her. She's teething molars so not a happy wee thing at the moment.

Gib stopper is due here soon and I have at least three more days of painting to go. Almost there!

Ooohhhh fluro colours could be fun popeye and you're right, the black will certainly make them stand out!

Slow start for me today, another bad headache, but I caught it coming on, so stayed in bed with a cold flannel over my eyes etc.Better now, and it didn't get to as bad as the last one.

Maybe you have been over doing things Kiwimade. And being ill was your warning to have a rest.

Poor Maddy and Mum...Teeth are a pain to get and a pain to lose...

Nothing panned for today.. Just knitting. Lawns have been done.

MrP's sister used to love wearing fluro colours... She used to deliver pamphlets so was always seen.

Afternoon ladies. What a frustrating time I'm having this last couple of days. Thought I would finish the hexagon blanket on Saturday, but noooooo, I managed to sew one hexagon in the wrong place and couldn't for the life of me see to unpick the stitching, so that meant I had the sides two different lengths. Nothing for it but to make more hexagons and make the short side the same as the long side. Course that then meant that I had odd shaped corners so had to do extra to do another row on one end. Grrr. Anyway, now just have to do five half-hexagons.

Today I decided to do some sewing on the Brother industrial. Thread kept breaking. The top thread that is. After re-threading the needle maybe 10 times, I decided to use a different thread thinking what I was using must be old, so used the one which I bought for the project when I was in Whangarei getting the washing machine. Thread kept breaking. I changed the needle. Thread kept breaking. So then I changed to yet another thread (different brand) thread kept breaking. Maybe when I'm in Kerikeri on Thursday I'll buy some more thread which will be the same brand as what's in the spool. Maybe the two different brands don't like each other. The tension seems fine. Maybe I'm being "told" that I should be doing something other than sewing.

So, feet up for half an hour, then I have someone coming for a fitting for a dress alteration.

And I suppose I shall have to think about cooking some tea.

Ohh what a frustrating time for you Kuaka, Just buy chance the cotton isn't snagging somewhere on its way through the machine... And if your anything like me you cut and tie the new cotton on and pull it through, so its still be caught in the same place? They can be beggars at times eh.
I miss my industrial machine. Did our house lot of drapes on my small Janome...

Ive knitted another leg for Melvin.. Just cant be bothered doing anything today lol...
Will be picking up one of the old ladies tomorrow for Club. So that's something nice I can do for someone.

Neither of us are hungry so thinking spaghetti and toast for his nibs and corn and toast for me.

Hi popeye, no I don't pull the new thread through like I do on the overlocker. I've given it some thought, and I'm just wondering if the needle is in the correct way. It's a round shank one, not like the ones for my Elna which have a flat side and can only go in the right way. Every time I've changed the needle I've put it in the same way as it was when I bought it (second hand) and I'm wondering if it has ever been right. As it is it threads from left to right, my Elna goes from front to back (can't remember what the Bernina does). Maybe I'll try it a different way and see if that makes a difference.

morning ladies :) You could be right about the needle kuaka, I find if my thread keeps breaking it's either the wrong sized needle or I've mucked up putting it in. Could also be the bobbin isn't in correctly.

I sat down last night and started a 10 stitch blanket. I've had several false starts on one over the last year and have finally got it sussed. In the end I put the instructions down and just figured it out. So I'll use my scrappy bits up and just keep it on the go as I knit. Now I have my stash under some sort of control, I aim to keep it that way.

have two coats of paint to do on a door and the doors will be finished. So another job almost ticked off. Gib stopper better arrive today!

Morning everyone.
Yep wouldn't be surprised if it was the needles too.. Can be very frustrating eh.
Off to club today. Im taking my doily to show the girls I sit with. One of the (don't know the PC word for it) handicapped ladies there Susan, loves cats. So Im taking my calendar to show her MIssy.. And Last night I used one of the new frames and some cat stickers, that I knew would come in handy one day, and made her a Picture for her room. She will most likely show everyone, cos last week she was showing off her Cat brooch.. Shes a cheery soul.
Im going to ask who makes the jams etc for the sale days and see if they would like some blackberries. One way of keeping some out of the freezer lol.

Sometimes Kiwimade throwing the pattern out is the best way to figure out how to do things eh.. Im enjoying doing these basket weave squares for the blanket. Theres soo many blankets I want to make, for us. But we don't really need anymore lol... Could make cushions using the stitches I want, but it probably wouldn't be enough.

Ive decided Im going to use my blue blanket I made last year, this winter. Missys fur wont show on it like Bobs would have .

I looove to crochet squares but I don't like knitting. I find it too slow. And the wool can be quite expensive can't it? Do you use acrylic as well or just straight wool?

Really carolev - lovely looking day - it's overcast here, blowing quite hard and not particularly tropical!

Knit and natter this morning, have to start something new something 'no think' as I've been awake half the night and need something that doesn't need me to concentrate.

Have to be up early tomorrow as I have to take the wagon in for a new windscreen which means I have to be in Kerikeri by 8am. Means I'll have to get up in the middle of the night (well early which for me is the middle of the night). Could take up to 4 hours, which is a long time to kill in a small place like Keri. Only so many shops there to visit. I will have to check out the op shops and not feel guilty about the amount of time I spend in them. Apart from that, breakfast somewhere and then grocery shopping once I've got the wagon back.

Suppose I could take my kindle as well as my knitting.

Meantime, I'm going to cast on something to knit this morning.

Morning everyone.. Nice cooler start to the day. Fine out there

Mndy1 Ill do photos when we get the blankets out for winter. I use acrylic, otherwise they would be too heavy. We have three that are all just one large square.. The one I knitted then wove together which is double thickness, and my black granny square one.
I want to do a ripple one tho, even a straight row one.. Badly lol... But we only have two beds here. but my black one is over the rocking chair.

Good luck for the warrants. Ours is next month.

Didn't do any craft yesterday, well I did knit at club lol. But came home with four biscuit tins of buttons, all bagged, but I went through them and took out what I wanted. Ill take the leftovers back next week, three tins. lol

Going to take the stuff to the oppy this morning, that I meant to take last week lol.. And pick up some beads I won on here. Handy being in town.

Hope Kiwimade is ok and hasn't overdone the painting.

Morning all

Overcast and cooler but quite pleasant here although it is not this weather I need to worry about but Wellingtons as heading there later this am a niece is getting married on Friday so going a bit earlier to help wherever needed.
Oh how great to get extra buttons Popeye, it seems to her a constant nuisance for me to get more buttons which match whatever I have just finished. I never seem to have the right ones on hand lol.

Have packed a bit of wool and needles, I'm using up bits and pieces on newborn size cardies and at the moment doing a 2 tone puerperium one. I find them fairly mindless to do and uses up bits of leftovers.

morning ladies :) We've had no phone or internet thanks to a mouse chomping it's way through the brand new phone and internet wiring. Was sitting on the couch and I heard a scratch-scratch sound, looked around and the new wiring which is sticking out of the wall waiting for the sparkie was jiggling like crazy. And yep, when the Chorus man came, he pulled the wire out and it was chewed in half.

Still painting, painting, painting and to mix it up, more painting. Being held up by the plasterer though as we have to wait for the plaster to dry and then be sanded before I can seal and paint. So frustrating when I want to finish!

Not good about your back popeye, crazy isn't it how it's often the small things that do the damage.

I hate having to wait for things like the car kuaka, as you say, there are only so many shops you can look at.

MrK has his cataract appointment tomorrow so I'll be taking my Kobo and knitting to that. Is going to take a while by all accounts.

Have made it through the shopping and putting it away.. MrP has already realised just how much I do, in the last couple of hours, cos he has had to help. And he does not like it.

Afternoon ladies. Well I'm home safely with a new windscreen, but boy what a pain in the backside. Had to be there by 8am, and virtually none of the Kerikeri shops open till 9am or 9.30, only Repco (I had to return something) and Bunnings were open. I had to go to Bunnings to pay for and pick up two card tables, but of course, I went in, bought what else I wanted, paid, and then had to go back once I'd got the wagon back. Meantime I went and had a good nose at one of the op shops, they had all ladies clothing reduced to $1 an item, so I got some nice skirts and tops. I figured at that price if I only wear them a couple of times each, it's not money wasted. Also went to the sewing shop for two reels of thread - boy it's got expensive. Cost me $38 (might have been all that extra wool I popped in the bag, eh? - and some of it I didn't need, but the rest was the colours I forgot to order from Deramores)

By this time I'm just about dead on my feet, so lugged everything to a nice little bakery and had a coffee and a scone, and was just finishing that when they phoned to say to pick up the wagon (which was at the other end of town) so I lug all my goodies back to get the wagon, then went to Bunnings to pick up my tables etc and then went to New World, and then went to Countdown (only 'cos the beer Mr K drinks is only available at Countdown) and then came home, and unpacked everything.

So like you popeye, I'm not planning on doing much this afternoon.

Good news about the cataracts kiwimade, but not so good about the mouse.

Right, feet up time for me.

Kiwimade, are the plasterers keeping far enough ahead for you?

Ive just taken far too long to do the dishes and I wanted to move a couple of things around in the kitchen.. I will of course get told off when he gets off the couch and ventures into the kitchen. But its too late now, its done.
I moved the breadmaker to the other side of the kitchen making use of the powerpoint over there, and lessening the amount of things on the other side.
I wasn't silly tho, I used his walker to transport things. And have put the new cooker, Ohh did I mention I got a new glass cooker at the oppy,,, excellent buy for $20.. anyway put that and the waterfilter we are not needing to use at the mo, down in the garage. Out of his way so he cant complain lol.

I have done a little knitting but Im kinda hesitant, cos Im pretty doped up and don't really want to make any mistakes on Melvins head.lol

Very easy tea tonight, so the rest of the day will be easy.. Till I get to bed lol. Then it will be hard to find a comfy spot

The plasterer comes back Monday to sand as we need a few days for it all to dry out, but I can work around him until then. He told me I can lightly sand the patches he plastered and they will be ok for me to paint. So tomorrow I'll be able to finish putting the sealant on and Sunday, two coats of paint. By Monday, all going to plan, I will only have the new gib board to seal and paint and that won't take long. So, all finished by Tuesday!!

MrK has his cataract appointment and we have to be gone in an hour to get there in time. Will take my 10 stitch blanket as it is still quite small and easily transportable. Hopefully we will get a rough idea of when they can do his eye (they will only do one) so life can be a bit brighter for him.

I'm thinking I might sneak away from Waikato Hosp lol and visit Spotlight.... hmmmmmm

My back is still stuffed. It hasn't taken me long to be over it... Walking isn't too bad today but its very week and jolts all the time. Bending near impossible. I did manage to sleep tho.

Hope all goes well with the eye op. Its one that has no pain so that's the best part.
If I was feeling fitter Id be very tempted to go to spotlight too.. I got a 40% off coupon yesterday, and they have sales on.

Lol Carole I find that too the last bit takes the longest.

popeye, I can beat your wrong squares for the blanket. A while back I decided to do a few squares for our "letz wrap up nz" project, and have a dozen sitting here waiting to be sent, but using different colours so I can extend a blanket of mine which I made a while back, I made another 15, and then discovered that they are the wrong size (too small) and if I work another round on them they will be too big. So I have now got 15 squares towards a new blanket. Dopey eh?

Well I slept in good and proper this morning, (I've only just got out of bed). Mr K brought me a cup of tea around 8.45 but when I took a swig of it it was stone cold. Mind you I did read for a couple of hours in the night.

I'm on my last half-hexagon for the blanket. Would have finished it but puss decided she needed to curl up on my lap and I couldn't refuse her as she doesn't do it very often. So assuming I will finish that today I'm on the hunt for a new project. I have one in mind, I even bought some yarn for it yesterday so I'll see how that goes.

More sealant on the walls today, painting tomorrow. The only wall I can't seal is the new gib board but that won't take long to do Monday. MrK is going to be waterblasting outside today I think. Daughter phoned and we are babysitting Maddy on Friday, luckily the inside painting will be done. can just imagine that wee whirlwind with paint around lol.

Morning everyone.
Wow the end is in sight Kiwimade.. And yes I imagine Maddy would Love to "Help" paint Nanas house.

I didn't craft at all yesterday, just too sore to bother. The good news is the right hip has clunked into place again. So its the spine that's still sore. Wont be rushing into things tho. For a few days.

What I wont do again tho is eat pringles without my teeth. Which sadly is very manageable.. But my gums are swollen and its affected the sinus and glands under my chin on the right side of my face... Lesson learnt lol... But they are nice to eat without teeth lol.

The rugby club is having a scrap metal collection today, so our kind neighbour will be coming to get ours to put on the front lawn with his, and the scrap dealer will pick up from there. So we can get rid of the tall shelf thingee that's taking up room in the shed and a few little bits. And apparently the wheelbarrow is stuffed so they can have that too.
