Oh my goodness, the legal stuff is a nightmare for you guys! You must be feeling incredibly frustrated. I don't think I'd be travelling if that Cyclone hits up your way either. Approval stuff all done at work on both sites now and all is well. Phew! B9 is 10 tomorrow (if he lives that long) talk about attitude lately! A real smart mouth and always arguing with his Mum. He is having a party in a hired venue with his biological Dad's family included. This is a first so fingers crossed, I can't say I'm looking forward to it much, one part of that family I sent to Baycorp (work stuff) last year and they act as if nothing has happened. No payments made either. Grrr. The other connection apart from B between the families is the grandmother's sister has married I's brother. Weird eh? B wanted a skull cake (typical) so I cheated and bought a icing cake top from TM. It's ugly enough for him to love it. LOL. We have bought him a helmet for when we go out on the bikes. It's a stunning Spiderman helmet. Shame they don't come in adults sizes.

Had a great weekend, how about you? Party went off well considering the very different mix of people. B's birth father's new partner was there with their 2 wee boys but she refused to be in the room with the rest of us and sat outside (was not a warm day) with the baby. Was not part of the opening presents or cake cutting. Huge insight into how she must treat B when he is with them alternate weekends. Actually got out on the bike yesterday, went to a place this side of the river which has been set up for quads and trail bikes. Quite a few people there but so big we weren't in each other's way at all. Much closer to home and won't be affected by the river during winter so we will be able to keep going out on good days. Loved the new bike and my wrist got tired but not overly painful this morning. I've got quite a wee stash of knitting for the shop this morning so I'm feeling as if things are getting back on track now. I've almost finished a sleeveless hoody in caramel, chocolate and cream stripes, too. I knitted one the same for L when he was little. Can't believe he will be 8 in May. How time flies.

Yes time does fly. I had an awesome weekend with Mum. We drove around the lakes for four hours on Saturday, just stopping here and there. We bought tea on the way home. On Sunday we drove to Maketu Beach which was an hour away. We parked right on the beachfront and watched all the surfers. The waves were so close to the beach. It was a perfect day. We got fresh fish and chips from the little store there and ate our tea on the beach. No one visited while I was there but perhaps they did but we were out ha ha. We both enjoyed our weekend. My back protested all last night at all the driving though. I just popped painkillers and gritted my teeth ha ha. T is off until Wednesday so I have another day to rest. Mums weaving is fantastic. I managed to collect feathers on the trip. Pukeko feathers at the back of mums and seagull feathers at the beach. I have a box of them for my Kakahu. I need to buy one of those giant crochet hooks for another rug. They sell them on here. Mum wanted more cotton dishcloths so guess what I am doing lol. Poor B how dreadful. That bike place sounds great.

It does sound great especially facing a week of meetings and late nights. LOL. When you mean rug do actually mean to crochet one or is a latch-hook rug? If it's the latter I did a huge circular one about 20 years ago with roses on it. I enjoyed doing it and loved it when it was finished. Took a year at least to do if I remember right.

That's hard with them both sick at the same time. Yes, it's certainly cold down here. Only been 15 degrees last 3 days. And darker for much longer in the mornings. I don't like waiting for daylight, reminds me of those really long nights after the earthquakes. Mind you at least I get on and get things done now and don't need the tv on for company once I. leaves. Drives me nuts having noise first thing now. LOL. As long as the rain holds off the Women's Group is visiting the SPCA this morning and then I'm speaking at one of the Catholic Women's Leagues this afternoon about the work we do. A full on people day, they are the ones that tire me out the most, no matter how much I enjoy them. I'm still working on the sleeveless hoody.

Both things on yesterdays agenda went really well. The afternoon was brilliant, not the largest group I've spoken to as the weather kept a few away but definitely the most interested. I was answering questions for as long a time as I spoke and then everyone of them had positive feedback about we are doing. Todays a bit quieter. Just a Supervision client this morning then I think I will get stuck into some funding applications. Only did a couple of rows of knitting last night before falling asleep. LOL.

Took both boys to the Gps again today. J still has fevers. K coughed all night long. Both of them are on that Redipred as well as antibiotics. T is taking K down to Queenstown next week to spend time with J. They have lost pilots and friends down south so J is looking forward to seeing her Mum. There have been a lot of air crashes lately. Nothing more exhausting than looking after sick children, I reckon. I hope they both get better sooner than Tuesday! I finished the hoody finally and now have to find buttons for it. I'll bet I don't have any the right colour. LOL. Only 2 more weeks of the first term left, that whizzed by! The local school for work is the one that merged at the beginning of the year. They only just got their uniforms yesterday. The government is paying for 2 changes of tops, pants and a polar fleece because of the merger. The new colour is purple and black, the new name is Te Waka Unua and the logo is a double hulled canoe stitched on to the pants and tops. Very nice. The school no longer has the usual classrooms but larger hubs for each age group with a number of teachers to each hub. For each subject the children are mixed up according to their learning level. Seems to working really well. Some of the children that come across to us after school and have really struggled at school, seem to be flourishing. L7 is one of those kids that will give up if he needs to compete with other children (just like his Dad) so his reading was suffering. This term he loves reading books to me and writing stories, he's really come out his shell, too, confidence wise which means he is standing up for himself a lot more. Trouble is he hasn't learned when that's appropriate and when it's not. He and DIL were having tea with her Dad one evening recently and L didn't like what was served up. He got into a bit of a row with the adults and when they were busy with dishes etc he left the house and walked home, crossing a main road to get there. Once there he found his Dad had finished work early and was home so he tried to sneak back to his Grandads. He had crossed that main road again by the time DIL found him. She was beside herself naturally, and he lost privileges for quite a while. The odd thing was he didn't want me to find out, which of course I did. There has always been a special bond between that child and myself and he knew how sick I felt thinking of him doing that. Hopefully it won't happen again but don't hold your breath. LOL.

That school sounds really good. We are lucky our children are at great schools. Makes such a difference to children when they are in a well managed school with enthusiastic teachers. It must be the age. M is 7 and she is into that stage too where she argues and walks off. She comes to me and then has a little moan and goes home. It's hard for her because a lot of time is taken up with J especially when he is ill. A took her to Karate this morning to use up some of her energy lol. J was not well enough to go so he "Helped Nana sort out stuff and Nana is knitting me a Black and White scarf with a Beanie to wear to Karate". I'm half way through the scarf as I have been knitting this afternoon and maxing out in peace and quiet ha ha. M just dashed over to get white felt as A is helping her make a Witch's hat so she is happy. T says K is much better but she is keeping him inside all day lol. He is building with Lego. K rang me to thank me for "Looking after me when I was very sick and now I can go on my holiday with Mum". Little treasures are so precious. I know about that bond. I have three of them that are really bonded to me but then I have looked after them since they were born. Every time I think I'm getting a bit old for this they look at me and my heart melts and I push that thought away. Ha ha. Lovely day for washing to dry. Lovely day for a bike ride too ha ha.

Was a lovely day here yesterday, too. but I's birthday stuff going on so riding happened. Today the rain is closing in again fast. I'll be lucky to tidy the front gardens before it starts. LOL. I've finished the wee hoody and I've done 2 fairisle beanies for the shop as well. Not a bad effort. It was my 24th anniversary at work on Thursday so bought more DVD's with my voucher for those cold knitting days ahead.

Finished the scarf for J. Made some Lemon Curd and that was the extent of my productivity for the day. Lol went grocery shopping oh that's right I started a Sour Dough Starter and it's bubbling away already. Super fast may not have to wait for 3 days to bake a loaf. Made Apple Crumble for tea. A cooked a leg of lamb. Saw a light shining in the paddock so just went to check it out. M had left a torch going. Lol. Thought someone was down there ha ha. Took the dogs with me and the rake. Bed for me. 24 years is commitment indeed. Congrats.

Drizzly horrible day yesterday but made the most of it. Cleaned the shower, cut I's hair, tidied front garden, shopped for a few groceries and searched for a new fluorescent tube for one of the fittings over the shaving mirror in the bathroom. They are deleted stock now so not sure what to do now. Cleared out a couple of drawers of paperwork and watched 2 DVDs oh, and made a lamb stew for tonight's tea. We did well. Very brave of you going out there to check on that light.

Busy day here today, too. I have organised in-house training for staff this evening on managing stress so need to organise the food as well as organise the craft activity for the women's group tomorrow. We are making decoupage eggs, LOL. from polystyrene egg shapes and the fine single layer of decorative serviettes. I tried to get plain white plastic egg cups for them to stand up in but obviously not the trend at present.

Still crunching along lol. My bread I baked yesterday was a huge success. It's the first time I have tried Sour Dough in the bread maker. So much easier. I adapted the recipe to suit my machine so I'm very pleased with myself ha ha. Yesterday was tiring but J was so good for me and so was M before school. I'm halfway through my hooded scarf which is so soft and warm. It was so chilly here this morning. I'm wearing jeans . How did the eggs go?

Eggs were beautiful! One of the women chose a floral serviette in pastels and by the time she had pieced together the finished egg looked as if it had been painted by an artist. The colours blended perfectly and then she used a few pearl embellishments just to set it off. Superb job. I think kids would love doing it as an activity, too. I finished the wee coat last night and yesterday was my first day with no pain relief in 61/2 weeks. Yahoo. Still have some grey wool left so doing a wee fairisle vest now.

I used the polystyrene craft eggs from Lincraft, not the small ones. We cut out the pictures/pattern we wanted to use on the serviette and separated it down to one layer. There are usually 3 on a serviette. Tearing would be just good, which ever is easiest to separate the layers. the picture pieces are then layered like a collage on the egg. A bit fiddly doing the gluing because of the fineness of the paper but worth it. They could be coated with polyurethane after for a shiny finish.
I finished the back of the fairisle vest, started the front and 2 patterns up started wondering whether the grey was a different shade. Bought at the same time but.... I stopped knitting any further to check out the colour in the daylight. Grrrr. And I'm having to wait till well after 7 for daylight as well LOL. A bit foggy here this morning.

Crazy wool! I think there are different shades within the same ball! Oh well, it's not as bad as I first thought because of the fairisle pattern so going ahead to finish it. I have a quiet morning ahead (I think). I've got roses to dead head so hopefully it warms up sooner than it did yesterday. I have finally convinced son S that it's ok to share my bike to try out the new tracks. His is being fixed at present but I think his heart is wanting to get rid of it and get something a bit more recent. He's a real worrier about money and stuff and it's hard at present with DIL studying full time and raising 2 boys on one income. He's having to juggle work hours, too, if DIL has a birth to attend. She's had 4 in a week this week and another due this weekend.

Yes the life of a Midwife is go,go,go. When T was a Domino Midwife it was hard. Babies have their own timetable ha ha. Took M7 and J4 to the library. They have their own cards he he. J wanted 2 videos and I gave him the $4.20 and he was annoyed he had to pay for them. " But the Library is free Nana. Mumma said. " He moaned all the way out the door. Ha ha. We then went to the Park and they had fun on the Flying Fox. K5 arrived this afternoon all excited about his trip down south. He bought me a lovely pair of earrings . Bless him. He made M a bracelet in a Bead Shop and brought J a Dinosaur Fossil. They were all in bed early because we are away early in the morning. M has to be in Before School care by 8 so I can drive K up to his school then J and I have to be at his appointment by 10.30 so it's an early night all round ha ha.

Phew and the week has barely started!
I'm not very pleased with myself after 2 afternoons out riding. I'm making the same mistake and it involves steep cambers around the corners of some tracks. I got myself into strife again yesterday and was so lucky the bike didn't tip back over the top of me. I sorted it out myself to the detriment of my wrist of course despite wearing a support brace. Then I got angry - why hadn't someone come looking for me when I didn't exit the trail with them and why hasn't I. shown me how to do this despite me saying the it's the same thing I'm struggling with. I've stewed all night and had it out with him before he left for work which wasn't the best timing either. I know half the problem is I don't get as much bike time as the others because I always share with family etc that tend to come out with us and I feel like I'm trying to get back confidence each new day rather than picking up from the day before and learning something new or at least improving on the day before. Wow, that was a bit of a rant. Sorry.

Yes they should have come looking for you. Yes you are so giving you do share so you aren't getting as much bike time. We can only take so much and we blow like a volcano lol. Yes timing could have been better but tell that to a volcano. I don't mind saying I'm beggared. A cooked a huge pie last night for our tea tonight and made all the kids lunches. Busy day yesterday: tidied the greenhouse, end of month stuff for shoip and then out on the bikes. Son S. came off worst this time when DIL's 3 wheeler tipped over being towed back to cars with him on it. Nasty graze on his arm. Had a couple of nasty quakes since Sunday afternoon, too. Only 3.8's but really shook the house both times. Woke us this morning just after 2am with the latest. Makes me a bit nervous with 30 children on site for the next 2 weeks.

It was the staff that were quite nervous yesterday. They (maybe it's we) are all on edge waiting to see if there is a bigger one to come. At least yesterday was a day based on site. Todays swimming trip rakes them out of town anyway so hopefully they can relax. I won't think of myself on my own in the hall today. LOL. S. has decided to make a break with the new bloke before his trip away for 5 weeks. They've been together 3 months but she's not coping with being 'a dirty little secret' kept from his Jehovah's Witness family. Such a shame as she really liked him.

The children made bird feeders from Pine cones they collected down the paddock. We had peanut butter and nuts everywhere ho ho. They are hanging in trees all over the place. My Sil is home tomorrow so I am back at the beach. My daughter moved K5 to a larger bedroom and sorted out all his toys, clothes etc. Bags of stuff to giveaway and big plastic containers of precious toys to store. He is a hoarder just like his Nana ha ha.

She most likely did panic lol. Naughty us. I mowed my daughters back lawn today. Then removed the Trampoline mats and netting which need replacing. K and I went to the Refuse Centre and it cost $37 for a boot load. I haven't been for years and was astonished at the cost. Plus $3 to leave recycling flattened cardboard. The Council do not have one in the area so it's a Private One. Won't be going there in a hurry. Then we raced to the Warehouse and went for K's swimming lesson. Met A there and brought J 13 home for the night. Before I mowed the lawns I did 4 loads of washing but had to hang last two loads on the fold out clothes lines on the covered in deck. The owners of the three flats next door are building a house on the back so there were men everywhere chopping and chainsawing trees down all day. I got all the sheets dry before they started thank heavens. Dust and grime everywhere . I feel sorry for the tenants. Bet they don't reduce the rent. They can't hang washing out and won't be able to for ages.

Awful not being able to hang out washing. Wet down here on and off so I'm using airing racks in the conservatory and a dryer for the urgent stuff like I's uniform. Definitely not the same as hanging in the sun. Birthday tea went well and she was happy with her cake, thank goodness. Like the fuss does our DIL. LOL. I've never heard of Damart. Is that an overseas Company. I had K5 and J ready to pick up J's Dad at 9.30. We went to the movies. K and I went to Home whilst G and J went to Sponge Bob. Everyone including Nana enjoyed the movies lol. Then we went to lunch. The boys all played Basketball after that. I dropped G off( He lent his car and she wrote it off. Insurance are refusing to pay out because she has been refused insurance, etc, etc.) More stress and drama. ). After I had dropped J off to my daughters I took K back to the beach. Got stopped by Police for the Wof, Rego, Drivers Licence and Breath Test. Every second Friday they block the back Road near the school to do this. Drives me nuts. Sometimes it takes awhile to get through but after 4 lots of roadworks today I was over it all. Sigh. When I drove home tonight I put the radio on to calm myself down hoping there would not be any detours. There wasn't. Yippee.

Google Damart! In Auckland I think but when I order stuff it comes from Australia. L7 stayed over last night after joining us on Date night. LOL. That boy would happily empty my wallet when out shopping! He is 8 mid May and we have ordered him a helmet as well. Arrived yesterday and he knows what it is and carried the parcel inside for me but doesn't know which one it is. He's a good sport about the teasing. Finished a matinee jacket with a few inches of wool to spare. LOL. But had already managed to match it just in case so doing a beanie and bootees to match now.

Visited E3 with my son today. She is growing taller. Looking more like her father now. Had a nice time playing with her. It was the first time she didn't cry when her dad left. She hugged her bag of Easter Eggs and toys and waved. My son was happy when we left. Makes a difference when your child is happy. One more week of the holidays lol. Up at the beach for this week. I'm glad I won't be tearing around this week. Ha ha. Just finishing my blue hat tonight. I've bought red wool up but not sure what I'll do with it yet ha ha.

I was feeling great yesterday, really bad headache, tried to muddle through and get things done regardless, probably wasn't the best. Felt really ill by tea time. Seem to be ok today but definitely have a cold again. Sigh. Stupid weather. I finished the layette for the shop and have started a dolls dress I picked up on ravelry in self patterning wool. It's quite neat.

No voice by last night. Have to get B6 to holiday programme at work today and there are a few things that are screaming to get done so have to go to work anyway. Freezing cold down here today. I've gone from a t -shirt on Sunday to 3 layers this morning and my coat is waiting by the door. Crazy weather. The layette lasted on the shelf 30 minutes before it sold. Love it when that happens. LOL.

Dolls pattern has turned out well. Might do another one in another colour. Croaky voice now a full on cold. Sigh. Stull have to go to work, too many funding worries etc to sort out.
