I'm not much better carolev except it's my nose that's running all the time, and now I have a sore throat and cough too. If I give it to grumps I think it would finish him off. Going to sit and do nothing for a while, might even go to bed. kuaka - 2015-01-30 13:01:00
I am going to bed too but not with you lol, poor grumps carolev - 2015-01-30 13:09:00
I went out at midday to get some medications (maxigesic and sudafed, cough lollies) and a further supply of tissues (I'd used a whole box since yesterday morning) and then parked the old wagon back on the driveway. After lunch I went to bed, and slept till 3 when grumps woke me and said the men were here to bring the washing machine up, which they did, so it is now reposing in the bathroom as I have to get rid of the old one before I can install it. Grumps said there's no hurry. Just as well 'cos hurrying is the last thing I feel like doing. I still feel pretty grotty but I think the maxigesic are working. Early night for me tonight. Hope the rest of you are well (I know carolev isn't) kuaka - 2015-01-30 18:22:00
morning ladies, I hope you slept well kuaka and carole. Not good being sick. At least your washing machine is in the house kuaka, that's a start! While it is overcast I'm heading outside to weed the garden, won't take long now as the plants are becoming established and filling in all the gaps. Said to MrK yesterday, I have buggar all spaces left to fill with plants! This time last summer I had big 'bald' patches of dirt! Fire and chimney is out, took three young guys all day to do it but omg what a difference it makes. They are coming back Monday to put the ceiling and gib boards in and the sparky is coming too so they can work around some wiring. We have a list of jobs a mile long for the sparky as well, he will more than likely be here all day. So today it's garden and then painting the windows in the living room and door frames down the hall. Then when all the building side of things is done and the gib stopper has been, I can paint ceilings and walls. Doing things arse about face but this way I can keep getting things done. Might manage some knitting this afternoon. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-01-31 07:29:00
morning all. after 3 visites to DR I at last got antibiotic pills. still feel like crap with the runs. but did get knitting done and all the embroidery done too. start sleeves tonight , it's hot out side all ready carolev - 2015-01-31 07:58:00
Morning everyone... ITS RAINING YAYAYAYAY... no cooler but at least the ground and plants will be loving it. Hope Carole and Kuaka are feeling a smidge better. Amazing how much room a fireplace can fill eh Kiwimade. Any bits you get done is a bonus. The decluttering went well.. Only my friend now has a pile of empty boxes to cut down and put in the recycle. Its her side of town for the bins on Monday, so great timing. Im really proud of how she is doing. She has decided that the Old St John and Scouts stuff that was her mums and Dads can go back to the groups. They might like it for the history of it. I sad there last night after tea and took the labels off the 37 maccona jars.. I tried the baking soda and oil trick. I wouldn't say it works 100%. Cos I ended up soaking them in hot soapy water anyway. So I have some soaking without the treatment . And will see how that goes. I cant wait to sort buttons into some of them. Other than that we are having a catch up on recorded stuff on the tv today. MrP is still in bed, said he had a rough night. I woke several times but that was just cos I was sore. Have an awesome day everyone popeye333 - 2015-01-31 09:08:00
Afternoon, Another step forward Kiwimade with the fireplace gone, soon you will be starting to feel that you are onto the putting it all together rather than the pulling apart Now have a nice red Honda Jazz in the garage - the old car is a jazz too which i find good for nipping around in and they are surprisingly roomy. Have had to put a bright yellow post-it on the dashboard "NO left foot" as this is an automatic and I've always had manuals before and somehow the brake does not like being used with a left foot instead of a clutch lol. Now finishing off the Grover and Elmo hats but somehow have ended up with only 2 eyes between them so will have to go into town Monday and get 2 more. Then will start the little jacket I was supposed to be doing before starting the hats. Have a nice relaxing evening everyone with your knitting Edited by jayemtoo at 4:59 pm, Sat 31 Jan jayemtoo - 2015-01-31 16:58:00
My New Home for my Buttons http://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/360985514.jpg Found on Pinterest that is you mix equal parts of baking soda and cooking oil it helps soften the glue residue on jars.. So I did that. Then soaked them in hot soapy water. And they are all nice and clean. So I now have a plastic crate nearly full. Took all morning to do them, with the soaking time for the paste and the hot water. lol A sink only holds soo many jars. Missy had to try and "help" me when I sat on the lounge floor to do the buttons lol... But not by playing with them.. Just getting between me and the jars and buttons lol... popeye333 - 2015-01-31 17:08:00
oohhhh a red Honda jazz, lovely jayemtoo. Took me a while to get used to an automatic too but you do get there. Awesome popeye, well done. Is that oil and BS put into hot water or is it smeared onto the jars? Handy to know this hint as we make jam and chutneys. Your Missy and our Bandit are great helpers. The Furry One sits and sleeps under the chair as I stand on it to paint. Garden weeded (kinda), plants pruned back (making the most of the skip bin), door frames and windows painted, one set of windows has two coats of paint and I scraped the paint off the glass from the previous owner. Am sitting here drinking an icy cold citrus beer, perfect way to end a busy day. Hope everyone has managed to get some crafting done today. | 6561 | Red Cars goo Faster too Jayemtoo.. lol So My step grandson told my mother lol. Yes egual amounts mixed to a paste then spread on the glue residue. Take the paper layer off then apply the paste. leave at least 15 mins. Then soak in hot soapy water.. I used a Goldie locks metal scrubber thing when cleaning them, didn't need hard scrubbing or anything. Works well. I just applied it with my fingers. Ohh how sweet of the Furry one using the chair lol.. MIssy has taken to sleeping on the footstool I normally have my feet on when on the lappy. So she is comfortable, while my feet swell lol... Shes never very far from me If its cooler like it was today Im considering a major tidy up ion the office, its getting jam packed in there.. So I need to do a bit of my own repacking, not soo much decluttering lol. Not craft again for me today but still involved with the mechanics of it all lol popeye333 - 2015-01-31 18:03:00
morning ladies :) lol popeye, I heard the same thing about red cars! More sanding and painting today, want to get as much done as I can so after the sparky and builders are done, all I have to do is walls and ceilings. If I can pick away at it all, it won't seem so bad. I worked until 5.00pm yesterday, couldn't believe it when MrK said knock off time and handed me a beer lol. And you're right jayemtoo, it's beginning to feel like the hard yards are almost done. I knitted last night! Finished a sleeve, started another and then unpicked it as I was using two needles, different sizes lol. Shows how much attention I was paying when it came to change needle sizes! Better move, have some sanding and painting to do before my sister and dad arrive to see what has been done here. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-02-01 08:41:00
Morning ladies, well I'd like to say I'm feeling better, but truth is, I'm not. If there's one good thing that has happened since I've been feeling so sick, Mr K has perked up and started doing a few things instead of just sitting in his armchair "waiting for God". At the moment he is busy at the bottom of the driveway re-spreading sand on the new tarseal. The contractors spread sand on it - not sure why - but it wasn't very even, so Mr K is busy making sure it is evenly spread. Also a visitor yesterday drove out a bit quick and make a couple of gouges in the surface so he's flattened them out. And he's brought me a cuppa in bed the last three mornings - milo for the last two as I can't seem to swallow tea when my throat is sore. Course too much milo gives me a headache so it's not much fun being me at the moment. At least I'm not too sick to knit so that's something, and it looks like it's not going to be quite so hot today. You won't know yourself when you're done kiwimade, bet you're really looking forward to getting everything finished so you can enjoy it. I've come across another term related to knitting which puzzled and amused me. Apart from "frogging" and "cold sheeping", how about playing "yardage chicken"??? That apparently is when you are nearly finished an item and don't think you are going to have enough yarn. Okay, have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2015-02-01 09:06:00
Morning everyone. Kuaka, nothing like being sick to give the "Waiting for God" ones a wee fright and spur them into helping. Milo gives me a headache too so I buy the Jarrah Hot chocolate. Cos I don't drink tea or coffee.. I seldom have a hot drink, even in the winter. But I do like the hot choccie. Lol like the sounds of Yardage Chicken.. Im too much of a chicken and generally stop lol MrP said the sand is to stop it bleeding on the tar seal... Id be down there sniffing.. Love the smell of Tar.. It would clear your nose and head too. I sorted the craft room again last night... I had the crate of jars to fit in. Cos If Id put them in the garage Id have heard all about it. so now I just have to move the crate with the CMA stuff in it, when I want to sew. Stitched about a dozen hearts last night. I normally stitch and fill. But as I know roughly how much thread I use I cut that, cos Im only using 3 strands. Then sewed them. Will sit and stuff them today.. Well I better go take the bread out.. I made MrP some special coffee this morning.. Called "Blonde Coffee" cos I got it all ready last night and forgot to put the coffee in the machine Lol HAHAHA. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-02-01 09:19:00
buggar you are still sick kuaka, but yes, it is a wake up call for our men when we get sick. Said jokingly to my MrK the other day, you would miss me if I wasn't here, and he went all serious and said he would, terribly. So that's why they put sand on tarseal, popeye. Learn something every day :) I do 'blonde' things like that too, just have to laugh and carry on. Dad will critique, he can't paint anymore as he has emphasemia (sp) and has problems breathing. But it won't stop him telling me I missed bits lol. We are both really looking forward to having it all done and dusted and enjoying it. MrK can't wait for the heat pump to go in, I think this winter will be especially toasty! Just about finished my cuppa, then will paint the door frames and then omg I might get some more knitting done! kiwimade64 - 2015-02-01 10:34:00
Im not surprised your father is Unwell Kiwimade, he and MrP worked with paints when there wasn't any such thing as venting fans and masks etc. MrP has isocyanide poisoning from working with paint, 2 pot paints for cars and fibrous plaster etc too. His lungs are stuffed and its in his blood. One of my friends sons got an apprenticeship at a car panel beater painters. MrP told him to use every bit of safety at all times, even if he hated it. Or he could end up the same as Him. I hope he is taking that advice. MrP couldn't cope without me, he would have to replace me very quickly. And he knows it lol popeye333 - 2015-02-01 12:38:00
popeye, I worry about my son's health too, as he trained first as a cabinet maker, and then decided he didn't really like that and has been spray painting cars for years. His hands are always a mess and I dread to think what it does to their lungs. He enjoys it and it pays well, so he isn't looking to change in a hurry. I suppose he's lucky he's got work. kuaka - 2015-02-01 12:47:00
Afternoon Oh dear sorry to hear you still not 100% Kuaka hope things hurry up and improve for you, at least it is getting Mr K more mobile. Yes paints can do really nasty things to lungs and other organs, fortunately these days there are good masks and other safety things but not everyone uses them - it seems ok with just rolling paint on but spraying it can be more dangerous. I remember playing with tar as a child and upsetting my mother with the mess, she had to rub butter on me to get it off. Yes they say that red cars get pulled over more often by the police too - will have to wait and see. Am making a little jacket for a niece's baby due in March, her mother is a stickler for having everything just right so when I want it really good I seem to have been making mistakes more often than usual and had to pull back a few rows a couple of times to correct them, It is a straight forward pattern which i use often but I have made a hole in it and twisted stitches and no idea how they happened. Happy knitting jayemtoo - 2015-02-01 13:47:00
oh dear, and just as I'm starting to feel a tad better, Mr K has taken himself off to bed an hour ago having spent all afternoon sneezing, and telling me that this will be the end of him, and when I say I'm feeling a tad better, that really isn't better, it's just not worse. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel a bit better. At least I've managed to do some crochet today (even if I did have to "frog" some of it) - I've started a new blanket, hexagons instead of squares, and it's a pretty pattern. I know I will hate joining the hexagons, but I think I will like the result. Pic will follow when I've joined a few. kuaka - 2015-02-01 17:35:00
Ohh Dear Kuaka, hopefully he will not be sick long. Tell him he's depressing you talking like that. And needs to get his act together. I love how hexagons look. but yeah I don't know that Id want to join them up. Im considering doing one in straight rows like that beautiful rainbow coloured one being done on Face Book. But Ill have to make a big one. Im back to CMA on Tuesday, looking forward to that. We gave our BBQ away this afternoon... Its 3 yrs old I think, but we haven't used it this year or last summer.. And was only used a couple of times when we first got it. Its just too hot to use here.. So its gone to our over the back neighbours who will be using it to help the kids rugby club fundraising.. So Im happy about that.. AANNDDD MrP said once cleared they can have the trestle tables too... So if that all gets cleared we will be able to walk in the garage lol MrP listened to them when told to list his old tools on here, cos they go for good money, so hes ok with That too....Yayayay. lol So I might get him in the garage in the morning when cooler and see what we can do. popeye333 - 2015-02-01 17:49:00
morning girls. did more knitting last night after in finished my quilt carolev - 2015-02-02 06:46:00
Morning ladies, the quilt looks lovely carolev. Sounds like you're playing "yardage chicken" on the jacket. Well Mr K is still alive this morning, blowing his nose all the time, so looks like I've passed it on. Not what I wanted to do at all. I hope he can fight it off. Cooler this morning (so far) I plan to have a reasonably lazy day. Not going to get straight back into things and end up feeling worse again, so I shall just potter around and have long periods sitting knitting. Sounds like a plan. Have a great day everyone. kuaka - 2015-02-02 07:36:00
Morning everyone. I hope Kuaka that your feeling improved, and your right just take things slow and gently. Not good MrK now has the bug. I was awake from 3-6am with the most horrendous headache. I was thinking about going to hospital, but took meds and got a cold wet flannel. It eased enough that I went back to sleep. And is just at a normal headache stage now. It was the nastiest Ive ever had, and I was thinking ohh its only a headache don't be stupid, but it was certainly painful. Ive got tea in the crockpot. A potato, bacon cheesy bake thing I found on FB. And MrP has the left over loaf quiche for his lunch. So I too have planned a quiet day.. I don't want to strain my eyes much either today, while headachy. We started watching Anzac girls which we recorded yesterday and only have the final episode to watch. We missed the first one. But its been good. We will watch the final when my friend is free, cos she mentioned the other day the ending was really good and she would have liked to see it again but she had deleted it. Then we have crimson fields to watch too. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-02-02 09:33:00
Well half-way through cooking breakfast the gas bottle ran out, so I had to finish off in the electric frying pan and the microwave, and seeing as Mr K is so grotty today, there is no way we are going to struggle and put a new bottle in, so it will be rice risotto in the electric frying pan tonight, with veg cooked on the little side-burner on the bbq. Every time we change the gas bottle we complain about the ridiculous position it is in and vow to do something about it, then it is quickly forgotten until next time it needs doing. Bugger! kuaka - 2015-02-02 10:28:00
Ohh Bugger Kuaka... Maybe now is the time to change the position to make it easier all round. We have kept our small round bbq for times of power cuts etc. We have a little canista single burner too. Many years ago our town was without power for 6 days. we saved many peoples sanities by boiling water on the BBQ for their cuppas. They were so worried about food but needed their drinks lol. MrP has just reported that the loaf quiche is very salty today. Maybe it was the bacon.. Funny he didn't mention it last night tho. So Ill go back to making it with chopped sausages instead. Im munching on some nice cheese scones.. Yummmm popeye333 - 2015-02-02 12:13:00
Love the quilt Carole. Been out this am to get buttons for several little items which need them, and how I wish I lived closer to that marvelous button shop of yours Kuaka, ended up getting them for 4 of the 5 things but not a good choice around here will have to go into town to get the other ones. Take it easy all those who are not well and enjoy your knitting/crochet jayemtoo - 2015-02-02 13:59:00
It's not a cheap job shifting the gas bottle. Have to get a gas fitter to do it, and Mr K has to build like a "kennel" for it and it has to be vented and has to be all sorts of things, distance from this that and the other plus there's extra piping involved. It was going to be a real pain in the backside. Course now Mr K isn't up to building the "gas bottle kennel". He does have a block and tackle which he was going to set up, so that at least I don't have to carry the bottle up the step ladder to the shelf it sits on, but the main problem is squeezing the bottle between the plastic pipes and the block wall under the house. One of us has to stand one side of the gap and push, and the other stands the other side of the gap and pulls, and with a lot of effort and swearing the bottle goes through. The pipes bend, and one of these days I can see them breaking. He has a plan to fix that too by cutting the pipes and putting some right-angle joins in to move the main part of the pipe out of the way, he's got the bits to do it, just hasn't got the energy. Oh well. I may have to call on a young friend of ours for assistance in the meantime. Course the other thing we could do it use smaller bottles, which would mean it would need doing more often, but would be easier. I've done 10 hexagons. I'm quite pleased with how they are looking. Have a super afternoon everyone. kuaka - 2015-02-02 14:21:00
morning girls , well up second front and will have enough wool for hat too. carolev - 2015-02-03 07:06:00
Morning everyone. Your knitting fast at the mo Carole... Will be nice to have a matching set. Off to C.M.A today.. I don't feel that great but Im sure Ill enjoy it when I get there. Have got my hearts to take with me. I only have to put the ribbons and bells on. So I figure its better than trying to follow a knitting pattern while talking . Hope all is going well with the builders at the Kiwimades House. And that MrKuaka is on the mend. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-02-03 08:06:00
Morning ladies, actually I feel worse than I did yesterday morning and Mr K says he feels worse than he did yesterday afternoon, and I thought I was over it and his was going to come to nothing. Oh dear. I spread my hexagons out on the floor last night and was about to take a photo of them, I've sewn 10 of them together so far, and puss spotted them and was terrified, she had a neck like a giraffe and kept edging towards them, then backing away. She was so funny. I forgot to take the pic. Going to make the effort and check the mail today (at the post shop) and get a gas bottle and see if Mr K and I between us can rustle up the energy to change them over. If not it's going to make cooking tea difficult. Other than that I think another easy day is called for. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2015-02-03 09:51:00
morning all. started a new diet yesterday and it's taken my sugar leavels right down so was awake in the middle of the night with a low . so sat and did knitting till it came up again well up second front now . carolev - 2015-02-04 06:49:00
morning ladies :) Lovely quilt carole, a lucky child is going to love that. Hope you are on the mend kuaka and so is MrK. Nothing worse than a sick man in the house! They can be grumpy old farts! Builders are finished and omg what a difference it has made having that fire and wall out! We are both thrilled to bits with it. Was a very busy day yesterday, finished painting the window in the living room, sanded down and painted sealant in the bathroom, scraped dry paint off the window glass in the living room. Was shattered why the end of the day. Today MrK gets his new garage door so won't need to use his sledgehammer to open it anymore lol. Septic tank is being emptied and a friend is coming to spray cleaning stuff on the roof for the painter so I don't have to climb on the roof. (Phew!!!). When I get home from the dentist I'll do the little 'touch up' paint jobs so I can finish all the fiddly bits. Tomorrow I'll get the ceiling painted then I can finally get walls done. Almost there! Feel like I've broken the back of the painting! Carpet is being laid on the 27th and the house painter arrives on the 17th, gutters go on on the 26th. So exciting now things are coming together. I've finished Maddie's wee jumper, just need to sew it together and knit the neckline and sew buttons on. Am loving all this knitting terminology, I often play yarn chicken lol and find my tension gets tighter and tighter the closer I get to the end of the yarn! Wonder if anyone else does that? Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-02-04 07:56:00
Morning everyone.. I feel human again Hade a good time at CMA yesterday. Sadly I cant say no or help myself so I ened up doing some of morning tea, getting weaving screens out of a car and putting tables and chairs away at the end. And I was shattered. I couldn't watch the old ladys trying to do all the lifting tho. Hope you start to feel well soon Kuaka... Carole you be careful with your sugars. Kiwimade did you do before, during and will there be after photos? You must really feel chuffed with it all. Its a little cooler here so MrP and I will go in the garage this morning. Just to dig out anything metal that can go to the rugby clubs collection. And Ill try and get him to empty a couple of drawers into a crate, then we can put stuff he does use in the drawers. A friend is coming around to watch the final of Anzac girls with us. She's seen it but said it was so good she would like to see it again, and we have yet to watch it. So have a good day everyone... popeye333 - 2015-02-04 09:14:00
Just having a cuppa, the septic tank people have been but now we need a plumber and a digger. When the lid was replaced (while we were renting the house) the plumbers just left the old one in the tank. It is broken and leaning on a funny angle blocking the filter and drainage system. So more $$$$ to be spent. But better several hundred now, than thousands down the track. And the hole is all dug so that is less work for the plumber. yes, popeye, I have before, during and after photos, I should post them for you all to see the difference. So much for painting today lol, been to the dentist and had a filling replaced, came home to the septic tank people, MrK's garage door being fitted and a friend spraying the roof! All go here! So now we have to pick up a big tandem trailer so the garage door can be taken away to the scrap metal man. The garage door people were going to charge us $60 to do it (then send it away for scrap!) so we might as well get a few $$ for it ourselves. MrK has more metal as well for the scrap man. Must be a scrap metal day popeye lol. kiwimade64 - 2015-02-04 11:33:00
https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/360829935.jpg https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/361709513.jpg Still lots to do but getting there! kiwimade64 - 2015-02-04 11:41:00
Wow that's a huge difference Kiwimade. Looks like a huge room. Our scrap metal sorting lasted five minutes before he had a hissy fit. Not over the metal, but my suggestion he puts stuff he doesn't use into a crate , so he can put his tools ion the drawers. Cos he gets depressed when he sees it all.. but wont do anything about it. This morning a parcel arrived from a lady in Auckland. Knitted cardies hats booties and singlets. And some embroidery cottons etc. I have no idea who she is, (Ill look on fb shortly) cos she had my address. The message was just that she thought I would know where to give them to. So it was a lovely surprise, after I had convinced MrP that I hadn't brought them and didn't know that they were coming. Hes doing a very good impressions of his stingy father at the mo. Its Raining Yay... Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-02-04 12:38:00
What a difference Kiwimade hard to tell it's the same room, will look great when finished. Finished the hats this am so now plodding on with the little jacket. Not so hot today so feel like a walk so will go to Taradale and get some wool for next project that gives me a good hour walk if don't dawdle too much. Want to do at least on puerperium Cardy for the next baby due in March. jayemtoo - 2015-02-04 14:01:00
lovely popeye, what kind people there are out there :) Yep, we've gained about five sq metres by taking the fire and wall out so have a huge room! I've just sprayed the house and the pump shed with the cleaner stuff, MrK needs to help me shift all his 'stuff' he has leaning on the shed before we can do that. His garage door is in and looks pretty darned good lol. He is a happy camper as his gear is nice and secure now. As for mrP popeye, let him have his man cave the way he wants it. It's his problem if he has to grump his way round to find things lol. Just having a wee break, am debating if I should do those fiddly painting jobs or start moving mrK's stuff or knit. With so much to do I feel guilty sitting here or knitting. Might go and see if MrK wants some help to move his stuff. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-02-04 14:45:00
Yep there sure is some nice people out there Kiwimade. I fully intend on letting him be annoyed and grumpy about his junk in the shed. Ill just ignore it... So long as he leaves my toolbox alone. If he starts asking for something out of Mine he will just get one of those "Looks". Id suggest making both of you a cuppa and putting your feet up for a bit. You have been working Blardy hard. Have watched the end of Anzac girls. It was good... Even tho we only saw half of it. | 6590 | Afternoon ladies. Well it's wet up here, and quite welcome I must say as the ground is so dry (or was). We still haven't put that flipping new gas bottle in so I'm thinking chicken breasts and roast potatoes in the electric frying pan, with a can of tomatoes chucked in at the last minute, and coleslaw (which I made yesterday) and some frozen peas in the microwave, and the fresh green beans out of the garden will have to wait. I'm getting on nicely with the hexagon blanket, but I can't for the life of me figure out how I'm ever going to end up with a rectangle. I know it is going to have big scalloped edges all round, but it just doesn't seem to vaguely resemble a rectangle or square, and I keep adding to it and it just goes off all scew-wiff. I'll put a pic up later and you can see what I mean. Feet up time. Feeling much better by the way. Thank you all for your kind thoughts while I've been so miserable. Mr K seems to be okay too so that's good. Happy knitting everyone. kuaka - 2015-02-04 15:19:00
hello everyone, how are you all? its been awhile since i have posted in here. i have crocheted 2 blankets, 1 for a king size bed and 1 for a double bed. I am starting on another one, am unsure what size bed it will be for, but it will go to people who are in their homes under hospice. healthynz67 - 2015-02-04 18:38:00

morning ladies and welcome back twinklestar. My goodness you have been busy, very satisfying isn't it. Hospice is a fantastic charity, I can't speak highly enough of them. When mum was dying of cancer, they went all out to help not just her, but us as well. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I'm painting the ceiling today, first coat. If I have the energy and/or time, I'll get the second coat on this afternoon. It's a big area to paint and lots of cutting in, but I'll just plod on. Plumbers are arriving with a digger to sort out the septic tank. It's the kind of job that makes me glad I'm not a plumber! I will try and make time to sew up Maddy's jumper and do the neckline. But will see how I go time and paint wise. Carpet is booked in for the 27th Feb and I want to get the bathroom finished so we can hang the door again! Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-02-05 07:55:00
Morning all Please send some of the rain down to Hawke's bay as I really really need some and am getting tired of having to water the tomatoes every day. Onto the second sleeve of the little jacket, I like it so think I will do one for another great-niece. I am sure the 3 mothers won't mind as they seldom see each other. Have a good day everyone with your various activities. jayemtoo - 2015-02-05 08:31:00
Morning everyone. Bloods banking and groceries this morning.. Id like to go out but have no reason to do so. so will stay home. Wish our landlord would decorate here. Its looking very worn now. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2015-02-05 09:13:00
well the plumber has been and all I can say is, I'm damed glad it was him and not me working in and around that septic tank! All fixed and cleaned out so that's another job crossed off the list. I've managed to paint two coats on the ceiling and one down the hallway and bathroom. Finished at around 4.30pm so a big day . My shoulders and neck know I've been working today! Time for a shower and a cold beer. Might even get that wee jumper done too. kiwimade64 - 2015-02-05 16:48:00
I totally agree Kiwimade, had one of ours emptied years ago and its not a job Id like. Ive started on Mellissa mouse's dress. so she is nearly done. Got another cushion inner from the oppy. So that will become a cushion eventually. MrP in a much improved mood today thank goodness. Grumpy bear he can be. Should get the dress finished tonight. And Im tempted to start a hooded jacket I got the pattern for off fb before.. In one of my variegated yarns. Time for tea and cold watermelon for pudding yumm popeye333 - 2015-02-05 16:59:00
morning ladies :) Lol popeye, I beginning to feel the effect of climbing ladders and painting but I need to keep going. MrK says I'm like a dog with bone when I get something in my head lol BUT at least it gets done! Your oppies sound so much better than ours. I never seem to find those sorts of things and I'm sure the ladies whip all the woollens away for themselves as there are never woollen jumpers there to unpick. Taking dad to visit his friend in hospital again today so there will be little or no painting today. Might take my knitting bag with me and sew Maddie's jumper up while we chat. Will probably be the only way I'll get it done! Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2015-02-06 08:13:00
Morning everyone. Ive finished knitting Mellissa mouse. Might knit Melvin next.. but I sat there last night thinking I want to do something different.. I might crochet a doily for the table. Cos white looks good on it. But none of the ones mum did are big enough for my Hurricane candle centrepiece. Since Im a basic crocheter it would just be a normal circle but I can manage a scallop on the edge. Be careful on the roads...Have a good day popeye333 - 2015-02-06 09:22:00
