Yuk didn't sound very tempting. Goat curry swimming in oil urg. Dropped K's baking in this morning. He was as proud as punch lol. T only had an 8 hour shift so she took him to his School Xmas Barbeque tonight. She was disgusted at the fact that they were selling wine and beer there. The headmaster walked around with a beer in his hand. Not a nice look. K had a great time never the less. T has 8 hour shifts for the next two days so that is ok. I get to go home tomorrow afternoon as she has a late start on Sunday. Knitting a toilet roll cover for A's cleaner. I have already made her a tea cosy but she likes knick knacks so her Chrissy Pressie is nearly finished. I'm still looking for a generic present for Surprise Santa. Can't make my mind up ha ha. I made little bags of sweets up for my pals at the Bowling Club. K has his teachers presents so I just have to make up two neighbours parcels and I am done. I then have three Birthday Presents to make for the 29th, Ist and the 6th of Jan. it's bed for me.

I had my day planned yesterday but when I got to work I found the whole front of our building had been tagged over night!!!! I still feel sick thinking about it. The complicated bit is that part of it is on the protected paintwork and I have a cleaner for that but the outside temperature needs to be right for that. The other 2 thirds is on paint that some kind soul covered the last lot of tagging during the winter. He/she painted over rather than let us use our cleaner and now their paint doesn't have the protective coating SO I had to buy paint yesterday as well as more glaze to protect it. Ran out of time to actually do the work on it yesterday and today is raining again. Hopefully go in tomorrow with I.'s help and do it so we can carry on our planned tasks for our last 3 days at work next week.

What a pain. The buggers need to be caught so they can clean it up. It's disgusting how some people can continually drives others nuts. That's also the trouble with being the Boss you have to solve all the problems sigh.

Not a hope of catching them though. Even if we put up expensive cameras the police say all we will be doing is watching them at work! We are lucky it's only been twice this year. Big family day yesterday as 7 of us went to the Christmas Grotto which has been set up by a church across town. They do it every year. Then we took the boys to McDonald's for slushies and a play in the playground. Home for a DVD and tea to wait till it got dark enough (after 9) to drive around looking at the houses all lit up with Christmas lights. I final got B6 to bed at 11. LOL. So much for his Mum telling me his bet time is 7.30! Naughty Nana. But he slept in till 8.30 which was a double bonus for us. LOL. We'll drop him back to his Mum this morning and go and deal with this mess at work.

Painting done and protective glaze on as well. Other bit cleaned off. I have muscles on muscles now. LOL. Didn't stop us from tidying up the front gardens once we got home though. Lovely day weather wise, too good to waste, and we were enjoying the peace and quiet of just the 2 of us.

You are a real worker grizzly. I had to rush back down to Rotorua on Sunday Mum had a fall and is in Hospital again. Poor dear was really bruised and shook up. My sister who is in Hamilton went down as well. She still has her foot in plaster from the rod operation. We were trying to organize a roster system to support Mum when she gets out so she always has someone staying. Our younger sisters were so cooperative not. Two of them would not even meet with us to discuss it. The youngest one changes her decisions hourly sigh. It was exhausting and so non productive . Don't know how long Mum will be in there for . We just have to wait and see. Drove home then unloaded my car. Packed another overnight bag and drove up to T's. My car is having a warrant check tomorrow morning and I know it needs a clean after that trip but no time so I will apologize or zip into the car wash after I drop K at school. I'm off to bed because sleep was very difficult for us the last two nights.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mum and it's very unfair your sisters aren't on the same page regarding her care. You must be exhausted with all the driving on top of everything else! I had a long day yesterday, too. Early start with book work here at home, then the morning in the shop then a long afternoon of work in my office. Today I am part of a team of staff painting the railway carriage that is part of our playground. We are just covering an old mural with white ready for the children to do a new mural during the holiday programme in January. We have put a new board at one end under cover of the balcony from the climbing deck on top of the carriage. I have blackboard paint for this board. Once all this is done this morning I have a funding application to finish this afternoon. Last day tomorrow, I hope.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-16 06:48:00
6458

Carriage painted, rubbish taken to the dump, funding completed and now today is the last day at work for a whole month. Senior staff are going out to lunch and doing our project evaluation while we are there. It's a great way to finish and usually sets up a starting point for next year with recommendations or new ideas. I was really excited about having time off but this morning I feel a bit weird, not sure whether it's the walking away from it all for awhile or what, just feels very odd.
How is your Mum, makerealbany?

grizzly4 - 2014-12-17 06:44:00
6459

Mum is progressing but yesterday was another hell day. My youngest sister who self meditates and is very Ill anyway had a massive seizure when she was visiting Mum. She managed to get out of the room so Mum didn't see it thank heavens. My sis P was there about to head home to Hamilton with her daughters so it was very lucky they had not dropped her at her home. This is the second time both her and Mum have been in hospital together. She is ok but cannot be by herself. Don't know what her husband will do. Only one daughter and she lives overseas. My poor sis P was texting me and I would ring her back plus I had K home from school unwell so it was another fine line to walk. Dashing to get my WOF now and sincerely hope today is a normal day.

makerealbany - 2014-12-17 09:10:00
6460

My goodness so much worry! And so hard trying to be in more than place at a time. I hope today is a 'normal' day for you as well. What ever normal is. Mine's not a normal day as I don't have to go to work. Weird, weird, weird. And , of course, it's now I am coming down with a cold and coldsores to go with it. Sigh. Did you happen to see Master Chef last night on TV1? They did this creative dessert degastation down the centre of the table. I am wondering whether I am brave enough to do something similar for dinner on Christmas Eve with a Christmas theme.????!!!!! LOL. L7 who is our pudding fiend, well his eyes would pop out of his head!

Boy, the shops and car parks are getting full now. Just as well I'm finished my Christmas shopping except for picking up the family passes for the boys and finding something for my sister and her husband who will be here on Christmas Eve. This dose of the 'flu is sapping what little energy I have left. Yesterday afternoon I sat and read my book, I can't remember the last time I did that for a whole afternoon. Today I'm going to tackle those towel sets, I cut out the fabric borders yesterday and the pieces to cover the wee canvases to match. I hope everything is getting a bit better up there!

grizzly4 - 2014-12-19 07:05:00
6462

Hi Grizzly. Today I have a free day yippee. It's the Christmas Function at the Bowling Club and I have to turn my phone off all afternoon. Fantastic,,,,,,. Mum is improving and my sister is at her home with her husband. It's his responsibility now. My sis P has gone home and her hubby says he hs been told to let her sleep and leave her alone . Lol. I cannot believe I have no responsibility for anyone else today. What a feeling. I have not finished my shopping yet. Only one pressie to go. Then it's the wrapping up. A' s freezer and Fridge burnt out yesterday. So we had to reshuffle things in my fridge and freezer. I had to take food to her Sisters ,etc. What a nightmare. The technician said today they only last 5 to 10 years. It was 5 years old grrrrr. Kids have gone to buy a new one because it's $800 to fix. I have not watched any TV for awhile or done anything constructive craft wise. No wonder I am feeling tetchy ha ha. Have a great day.

makerealbany - 2014-12-19 10:42:00
6463

Must have been a great party! LOL. My shopping is all done, found a great deal for a picnic blanket and a chilli-bag for my sister and her husband. Towel sets all done with the matching canvases for the girls. Very pleased with how they all turned out. I. says they look like bought ones! I guess that's a compliment. I've had to back out of doing a stall today as I'm just not up to it, finished my book yesterday. I got a lettuce from the glass house on Thursday afternoon and was bitten again just like last year. Probably a mosquito, 2 bites quite close together but a big red patch on my ankle. I take anti-histamines every morning because of my asthma, you'd think they would stop any major reaction wouldn't you? Using Anthisan cream but provides little to no relief at all. Any magical treatments you know about? I can't stay out of my garden all summer but can't go through what I went through last year again. (Going to bed with ice packs)

grizzly4 - 2014-12-20 06:55:00
6464

I hope you are just busy and haven't had to race down to your Mum. I'm still a bit miserable with this cold, really hoping it's gone by the time I travel up to my Mum's. I hate the idea of taking bugs up to them, or I. getting it on his few days off. I did finish my Christmas sewing yesterday, though, making helmet bags for son S. and myself. I've run out of books to read, too, so will have to go looking for more after the shop tomorrow.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-21 10:33:00
6465

Here I am late again grrrr. I was a little under the weather yesterday but perking up today. Energy levels are low so it's a battle ha ha. We all went up to T's for a Christmas Barbeque for J and her friend who have to spend Christmas in Queenstown as they are both working. I drove my silly Tidley daughter and Sil home. M and J had a great time with their cousins. It was a lovely day but I had a nap before tea lol. I could hear them all laughing and talking, the dogs chasing each other ,etc but I still lay down and had a good hours nap. Tomorrow I have to do something productive ha ha.

makerealbany - 2014-12-21 23:47:00
6466

Don't know any magical remedies. Wish I did both J4 and K5 have severe reactions to Mossies bites. It's dreadful so I know what you mean.

makerealbany - 2014-12-21 23:49:00
6467

I'm glad to hear you are ok again now. My cold improved heaps yesterday as well so more like my old self again, too, thank goodness. I'm a bit behind on my list of things to get done now, though. I'm in the shop this morning and this afternoon I have the grocery shopping to do and hopefully make some lemon honey to put in the cute wee jars I bought. Tomorrow I have to go back out to the Maze where I was hoping to get a family pass for B9's Christmas present. It wasn't open yesterday when we went out there. Should have been, though.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-22 06:51:00

Spent the day in the garden cleaning up, mowing lawns and weeding. can hardly keep my eyes open lol. All that fresh air and muscle working.

makerealbany - 2014-12-22 22:34:00
6469

Today I have to catch up with everything I haven't done yet. LOL. I've just made up Christmas letters to the 3 boys to go with their family outing passes and explaining their extra budget (money attached) for icecreams, drinks and a souvenir of their trip each. I have to cook the chicken today so I can do the pork tomorrow for tomorrow nights dinner for 10 of us. Looks like it's going to be hot enough for going to a park so our main Christmas meal will be packed up to go. LOL. I still have lemon honey to make this morning as well for the wee gift jars, presents to wrap, house to tidy etc. We are on countdown now, aren't we? Where are you off to Christmas Day?

grizzly4 - 2014-12-23 07:25:00
6470

I am off to A and S's for breakfast, T's for pressies and then we are all going to W and V's for tea at 4. So I am going to the Mall for my last bits an
Pieces this morning. Want to be there early so I can come home and relax doing my baking, etc until 4 when we have the neighbours we are talking to over lol. It's starting to rain here and S still has weed eating to do. The boys presents are such a good idea. Well done.

makerealbany - 2014-12-24 07:29:00
6471

You were up earlier than me! I. is on holiday now so slept in till 8.30! LOL.
He must have got up earlier at some point to feed the girl's so they would leave us in peace. They are getting Fancy Feast dinners and ping pong balls for Christmas. LOL. Tried getting them fancy stuff in past years but they are so much more into their ping pong balls. All 3 are 15 this week!
I just have the last bits and pieces to do for dinner tonight and waiting to see if this crazy wind dies down for our picnic. All the presents are wrapped and I was knackered by the end of that mission yesterday.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-24 10:05:00

Merry Christmas. Hope you had a good day. I had a lovely day but I am seeing stars so I am off to bed.

Yippee Just home from T's . She now has 5 days off. I am driving to Hamilton tomorrow morning to bring Mum up for a few days. No rest for the wicked ha ha. I have a really sore throat but that is what happens when you get run down sigh. I got lots of pressies and Secret Santa was a blast. Everyone had such fun . All my kids ignored me and so did my grandsons and they got me pressies anyway. I still did the secret Santa though. The funniest gift was a box that was wrapped up. My grandson unwrapped it , sheet after sheet and he got down to a slip of paper. By that time we were all saying " whatever it is it better be worth $20 " lol yes it was a $20 note. My grandsons were all pointing at each other saying" You did that aye. It was very funny. Ate far too much of course lol.

makerealbany - 2014-12-26 22:36:00
6474

Picked Mum up today and she is now settled for the night. We had to block off my verandah so my daughters puppy doesn't jump on her. T runs over every morning to greet me and Mum is very shaky on her feet. I'm off to bed as well.

makerealbany - 2014-12-27 23:04:00
6475

Back home now. Very glad that you had a good Christmas. Weather stayed fine down here on Christmas Eve for our picnic. We had a good time except for the 4.2 shake at 7.30pm which felt very weird being right on the coast. Christmas Day was full on as usual but good fun and Santa was generous as usual. All the handmade gifts for the adults were amazing. Left for Blenheim on Boxing Day and it was great being with Mum and Dad that close to Christmas. I felt like I had been eating non-stop for 3 days by then. LOL. Came home yesterday and we both asleep after unpacking. LOL. Late night watching DVDs last night so late start this morning.

Mum decided she wanted to go home ,!!!!!!!! so I left at 4.30 in the afternoon. Drove down to Rotorua, unloaded Mums shopping, etc had a cuppa, visited my son who is there temporarily and drove home again. Just got back so falling into bed. Glad you had a fab Christmas .

6477

You poor thing!!!!! What a dreadful thing to do to you. It's cloudy here this morning but supposed to be 29 later on so I have full length jeans on and socks to go weed the vege garden. Hopefully I'll win against the mozzies this time. Yes, I have insect repellent, too. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-30 09:06:00
6478

I got up at 7 to start all the washing. Kids away at the Lakes for a week so I am at home with the cats and dogs. What utter bliss. Ha ha. Didn't have to cook as A left me heaps of leftovers from her Birthday Party Dinner last night. I felt really sad I had to miss it. She cooked a delicious Pav and left me half of it. Yum yum to heck with watching weight. Its T's son C's 21st tomorrow. I thought T might go out tonight and offered to have K5 but she said she couldn't be bothered. She works so hard but her only social life is with family. She is enjoying just maxing out. Don't think C wanted a big party so that's an easy 21st. I'm going to finish some sewing and go to bed. Happy New Year.

makerealbany - 2014-12-30 22:16:00
6479

Happy New Year to you, too. Finally got to work in the vege garden yesterday and 2 thirds done. Ran some errands in the afternoon but pretty lazy really. Everyone here for tea tonight but it won't be a late one. I doubt if we'll see the new year in. LOL. After ripping out most of the first front of my cardy over Christmas and redoing it, I am now almost to the armholes on the 2nd front.

6480

Phew, big day yesterday! Eight of us out on quad bikes at the river. LOL. Picnic lunch, lovely sunny day then back to son's for BBQ tea. An excellent first day of the year. I hope yours was a good one. too.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-02 10:07:00
6481

Yes I had a great day in the garden with K5 in tow. He likes to potter lol. I repotted all the baby Buxus. Planted out the big ones in the garden, repotted all my big pots after a trip to buy more potting soil and fertiliser. Emptied the worm farm container and now have two containers full. K wanted worms for his worm farm but we forgot to take them home with him tonight. Never mind I'm there again on Sunday. T rolled in something awfully smelly in the paddock so we had to shower her. Even old P kept his distance from her ha ha. All my muscles have been working overtime but 3 gardens look good . I have another free day tomorrow and then the kids will be home. I'll garden all day but no mowing for me. My Sil can do it all ha ha.

makerealbany - 2015-01-02 21:36:00
6482

Good for you. I took all the decorations down yesterday and packed them away. Cleaned the house so it looks big and a bit empty now with Christmas stuff gone. So hot here I had to have a Nana nap and then go to McDonald's for tea. Went for a drive through Lyttelton tunnel for first time in 4 years which I'm going to have to get used to for meetings this year. Shudder. Not happy about it but can't avoid doing it any longer either.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-03 08:52:00
6483

I took all my Christmas decorations down and packed them away as well lol. Worked in the garden and then drove up to T's. She had a fence and gate put in to close off her backyard from the front. Mainly to keep her Griffon in. I can lock the grandchildren in as well ho ho. A and S came home today as well. Yes I had a Nana nap for 30 mins. After working outside I had a shower and dozed in my chair. T is working tomorrow so I am up there in the morning. K and I have to repot all his plants and thin out his giant Pumpkin flowers. I must remember to take him more worms.

makerealbany - 2015-01-04 00:24:00

Working bee to clean shop for a couple of hours yesterday morning. Family all here by the time I got home. Went on a road trip after tea for icecream by the beach. LOL. We used to do that all the time when we lived over that side of town. I., son S. and DIL going out on bikes this morning but there will be 11 for tea tonight so thought it would be less stressful for me to do the prep while they are gone and while it's cooler. Supposed to be 29 again today.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-04 08:06:00
6485

Yep was definitely hot. I put the pool up for the boys round the cool side of the house and we all sat out there, too. Except for the men who were sweating it out in the garage finishing our trailer. LOL. The pool was a $20 cheapie from the Warehouse but much bigger than I expected. L7 and B6 spent all afternoon in it, never moved. Very relaxing. Shop is opening today so that part of my routine is back to normal although I have no stock to take as I'm still working on my cardy. I'm about half way up the first sleeve. Knitting an adult size is a pain after only doing baby knitting for so long. You can see by the time I. is back to work today, too. LOL. My days will be a bit longer now to get things done.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-05 06:18:00

I had a nice time at the beach with K yesterday. Spent this morning with A and S cleaning a bank but the neighbour has been in our orchard again. Non Tresspass Order is useless. They don't care. Abuse hurtled at A when she reminded him to stay out of her property. So S came over and it was a verbal war for 5 mins until we pulled S away up the hill. Honestly it's dreadful . As soon as we go down the bottom of the property to work they put really loud music on, etc. One of our neighbours is a shift worker too. She sleeps in the morning. Kids are going to the beach and I will go up later for tea. Need to relax all these goings on are draining. Sigh.

Doing my usual computer stuff this morning and then got rolled around by a really rolly earthquake. Went on for ages and felt quite queasy after. Apparently it was a 6.4 at Lake Coleridge which is about 80 k's out of Christchurch. Looking at the feedback on TM it was felt on the West Coast as well as all over Christchurch. I hope the townships closer are ok.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-06 07:18:00

Was only in garden 5 minutes yesterday. Decided to pull a couple of weeds from the path as I walked by. Grrr! Got bitten again. Can't believe it. Looking at the Canterbury Quake Live site there have been dozens of after shocks after yesterdays 'quake. Thank goodness we only felt the first one, but I really feel for people closer. I'm 3 weeks into my holiday now but still falling asleep every time I sit down for a break, I thought it would have been better yesterday being cooler, but no, dozed for 2 hours! Such a waste of time.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-07 06:36:00
6489

Omg cannot believe that quake. How awful for you and those experiencing it. We are so lucky up here. Got home at 1.30 this morning after picking my grandson up. We talked and then fell into bed. They had to wait for 20mins after they sprayed all the luggage in the plane before they could get out of the Plane. He said the stuff made him feel sick. Loved his trip and his girlfriend bought enough Make up to last her for years lol. He bought toys for the younger cousins so they were happy ha ha. We raced around today visiting and then I took them back to the Airport to catch their 7.30 flight back to Christchurch. I'm going to bed after I water my pots on the deck.

makerealbany - 2015-01-07 22:36:00

I've decided to continue to knit my cardy ( almost at armholes on 2nd sleeve) evenings only but do some small things for the shop when I get a chance during the day. A bit cooler again yesterday so knitted 2 teddy jerseys and a pair of baby socks after spraying weeds in rockeries and washing my floors. I.'s new quad as arrived from Auckland so I've got the job of sorting out insurance for it and the new trailer. That will be a long phone call, I'll bet. Thought I might I might go to the library today as well and I have long jeans on in the hope I get into the garden for awhile. I've just bought a dolls pattern for a high viz vest and safety helmet just like they wear on all the rebuild sites. LOL. So appropriate for Christchurch dolls. Haha.

Wow, did all of the above PLUS cut out a dress for myself in fabric I bought in a sale 2 years ago!! LOL. If it works out will be nice for niece's wedding on Valentines Day. Bodice is lined but pattern shows through if I use same fabric so have to go buy some white cotton unless I have some in my stash. Mmmm, could be worth a look. Mind you then I could get very side tracked. LOL. The knitting pattern arrived by email yesterday, so can't wait to try it out, too. Just got one book out of the library but already a third through it. I must do this more often instead of buying books all the time.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-09 06:55:00

Tried to post last night but IPad went flat. Spent the day planting out trees on a bank . M likes the pattern. Very cute. You are on a craft roll. M7 is having a huge Harry Potter Party on Monday so there is cleaning in all directions here. Never seen my Sil so motivated lol. Wood is chopped and stacked for winter. Weed spraying, mowing, weeding, etc. A had a massive clean out in the house and we have people from our community picking up stuff which is great. I have to bake M's cake this morning, make Cookie mix for her Mum, clean my cottage and all before 11 as I am going out. So I'm running today ha ha. I'm a bit stiff from all the gardening but get less rigid as the muscles relax lol. Have a great day.

makerealbany - 2015-01-09 08:49:00
6494

I had a cleaning binge here too this morning. LOL. Washed ornaments and cleaned glass shelves and doors, then rearranged them. Organised new photos for the small upright frames and listed some surplus stuff plus wool and fabric for the shop. Took other stuff down to charity bin. Went shopping for fleuro wool but can only get the green at present, I want to do the set in orange, too, as most of the rebuild workers are in the orange. Time to read a bit of my book which actually means I will be asllep within 10 minutes. LOL.

New trailer warranted yesterday so project is now officially finished. LOL. Used it to pick up I.'s new quad bike so he's a very happy man. Family over by lunch time for a lazy afternoon. Off to the river this morning with the bikes.

We went for a Swim this afternoon after Sil had been to the tip and finished weed eating for the Party tomorrow. A has been baking and icing lol. The sea was so warm I really enjoyed the afternoon. Saw Real Estate Agents at the neighbours so they may be selling. I sincerely hope so. Must admit I will miss seeing the children . I have not knitted a stitch for a week. After tomorrow Sil flys out so it will be back to normal with all the Parties and celebrations over and done with. I really want to finish my sewing projects.

makerealbany - 2015-01-11 23:56:00
6497

Mmmm, me too. I need to buy white fabric to line the dress bodice and a zip after the shop today. Back to work on Thursday, so I need to get a bit more organised this week. Haven't done much of my cardy, the few times I have picked up needles it has been to work on the dolls set I showed you. LOL. But even that didn't get finished for the shop this morning.

grizzly4 - 2015-01-12 06:27:00
6498

We had a fabulous day. M's Party was a real hit with the children and the parents lol. We had a huge Bouncy castle in the paddock which the children loved. They enjoyed the Magician and all got balloon dogs, etc. After eating lunch they had water slides up the top of the hill, then the bashed away at the witchy doll hanging in the tree to get the sweets. We even had a fashion show put on by M and her friends. Ha ha. She loves doing shows. After walking up and down the track to the house I was exhausted . My Sil told me for the first time in his life he had aching feet. I said " Welcome to my world" ha ha. We cleaned everything up about 6. I even hung out two loads of togs and towels. We had tea and J 11 my grandson from Hamilton came up to spend the night at T's. He wants to go to the beach for a swim tomorrow. J4 and I picked him up at the Bus Stop this morning. J was so excited about seeing his cousin. I'm off to bed now because no doubt K5will wake us at 6

Sounds like a great party! I had a quiet morning in the shop but was still tired by the time I got home. LOL. Goodness knows how I will cope going back to work on Thursday. Meantime, I have housework to catch up on this morning, errands to run and hoping to start the dress. My old boss is in town and I'm meeting her for coffee as well. Looks like it's been raining over night which is great for the gardens.

No rain overnight here but we had lunch early and went swimming again. The water is so warm. The children are getting braver in the sea. A and I had two each to mind in the water. We had their boogie boards as well lol. My hair is like straw after swimming. I need a cut. The girls have told me I need a colour but as I am going lighter I can't be bothered. The sea just bleaches it anyway ha ha. We are off to the park tomorrow to feed the ducks , visit the Library and have a Picnic Lunch. J11 is keen to go on the Flying Fox down there.
