601 | Some advice please ... My mother has a stamp album that she started collecting in her teens, she'll be 80 next month. The stamps she has are from all over the world, including NZ and some seem to be quite old. Is it possible to take the album to someone to have it valued and if so who does this ... a dealer? Do they charge for the valuation? brutus13 - 2008-05-19 22:58:00 |

603 | re 594- Phosphor on stamps. Mainly started to appear in the early 1960's (viz GB) but Austria had some varnish bands on their stamps for the same purpose in the 1920's I think and other European countries started in the 1950's. Most stamps from larger countries now have phosphor although often in over-all coating rather than bands. kiwisteven - 2008-05-20 23:51:00 |

605 | Hello, very new here. I need help from those who are in the know with stamps, please. I have an offical stamp book published in 1990 by the Ministry Of Posts And Telecommunications Japan in Japan, stamps issued in 1990 with full description of each special postage stamps, including Japanese Imperial Enthronemnet, both in Japanese and English. About 200 stamps are displayed. Also I have two books of Jap Imperial Enthronement stamps, each consists of two stamps. Where can I take them to get evaluated in Auckland? Is there a market for these in NZ? Thank you for your time in advance. auckland63 - 2008-05-23 14:46:00 |
606 | weird question Is their any such thing as traffic lights? my grandad has hundreds of corners sheets of stamps for hundreds of varietys. they all have the printer marks in the left hand corner, was there any monetary bonus in buying these or a waste of time? brownridge - 2008-05-23 16:46:00 |

608 | To donaldo Thank you for responding. I don't quite understand the post before yours but anyway... When you say a dealer, what are they under when I search? Also I just wanted to know if posters in this thread could tell if any market for this kind of stamps in NZ, that's all, and these albums were given to me nearly 17 years ago by a visiting VIP Japanese. As you can tell, I am not a "stamp" person. auckland63 - 2008-05-23 20:02:00 |

618 | New collector. I have spent the evening looking at stamps on Trademe and E-Bay. Can anyone recommend a good website or book that describes collecting for the beginner. The terminology is rather confusing :). daveandamber - 2008-05-30 20:20:00 |

635 | Registration Shift - Any value? Hi there - I don't collect stamps but i thought i would ask you kind folks this. I have an un-used booklet of $1.50 stamps - the peel off type - and the print registration is off by about 5mm to the right so the perfs and the print don't line up at all. They feature Arrowtown - do you think the booklet is worth anything - should i list it? I put 2 pics here: http://dino.co.nz/images/stamp2 copy.jpg stylejunkies - 2008-06-10 13:06:00 |
636 | 635 Shift The second photo shows that the stamp has been up-lifted from the booklet and replaced. willy_hunt - 2008-06-10 13:33:00 |

643 | 641 I think Loose Letter was when a letter went from an Out-lying area, via Train,to the nearest post office to be Franked, then forwarded with other normal mail. willy_hunt - 2008-06-12 15:27:00 |

650 | Loose letter. Loose letter is basically any letter which arrives at a Postal centre not in a mail bag. these days many come from Rural delivery people who are handed letters on their rounds but can also include letters handed to a postie or any other postal officer other than at a post shop or mail centre where it can be immediately placed in a mail bag. previously loose letters were often letters delivered by train or sometimes mail boat such as in the Marlborough sounds, Bay of Islands etc. regards, Steven kiwisteven - 2008-06-15 02:51:00 |
