Morning all, found this gorgeous fabric #247872696 would suit baby perfect "she" has been nicknamed "daisy-bee"....but seller wont answer my question grrrrr....makes ya wonder if I even want to buy it from them. I know I have already bought fabric for babys raggie but ... maybe its a boy !!!!! arghhh na hehe.
Hope your all havin a great day hopefully sewing :)

coalrange1 - 2009-10-16 10:25:00
622

I was just thinking (I know I know sometimes I do this ;)
ok I was thinking you could make a little raggie bassinette - buggy size quilt, then add to it for a cot size then to a single bed size....then they get to keep their own raggie rather than different ones. Youd have to use the right fabric, but could be done easily. I know Im talking away to myself here but please note I am not answering myself haha .....lol

coalrange1 - 2009-10-16 11:02:00
623

hi coalrange thats a good idea start with the bassinette size make that babyish then cot size make that not so babyish then single bed with children style fabric there will be a story to tell and you can explain to them that it started off as bassinette quilt whew does that make sence lol i did a beautifull needle work blanket for son no 2 then added girl things for daughter and also put there names on it,i backed it with fabric, it got used lots my mum put her bit on. and an aunty put something on it

Hehe "wee stash now" only way to go Holly, a girls gotta have a stash....
My quilts have all been plan around what I have got but then again mine are mostly raggies which dont need many colour combinations.
Sometimes I have taken my trademe purchase to fabric shop and asked what to put with it.
Since you do have a stash it may be easier to put some together and see what you have first...then if it needs something more go shopping hehehe lol
Haha the iron, I had to ask in here where mine was I couldnt find it ;)

im the same, i have a look throu books or patterns then have a look at my stash to see wat goes i dont follow the pattern just make it up as i go, sometimes i even dream in my sleep of a pattern, how bad is that, lol, when i first started quilting i use to buy randomly which isnt good because you have all these different colours, then you end up buying more
coalrange that fabric is so cute
20c for quilting books is a bargin

Lol Holly oh my gosh incredible isnt it .....whoa bet you all were gobsmacked !!!!!

Cut them Holly cut them, I read on google somewhere about a lady who collected up heaps of fabric for quilts, alot of it was too lovely to cut so she never did. Eventually she called herself a fabric collector, she said that a stamp collector would never use their stamps, a coin collector would never spend his coins so she never intended to cut her fabric haha lol CUT it Holly CUT it.....

Liz are you OK ???

Yep, well ok as can be, spent most of the weekend on bed resting and nibbling toast and crackers. Hubby's been fanatstic, helping with everything. Took Miss 3 for a walk this morning, as i had one of my headaches, and refused to emerge from bed. They went to the art gallery, the gardens, the markets, played at the playground, feed the ducks, and bought mummy home some fudge :D He's sooo good with her it's hard to believe he's only her step dad. Now i'm off, got to try and get the kitchen table cleared...
