It's a boy!!!!! That will mean both my children have a son.I had a wonderful morning with my daughter after her scan, shopping for blue things. She got tired very quickly though.A few dramas yesterday as my DIL was very upset she had not been included in the shopping. My son then got very defensive on her behalf. Very stressful and reminded me of the constant bickering when my kids were little. I'm not going to take that behaviour for long. I'm feeling very angry for them ruining what was great 1:1 time for me and daughter yesterday.

Wonderful news grizzly, shame about the dil. My kids still do the same thing at times. They never stop being kids. Never mind not you can knit in blue till your heart is content.

Hi girls Woke at 6-30. Went to gym. Congrats grizzly. Ignore pettiness of S and DIL. My DILS would never act like that. Started this and then lost it hope it doesn't post twice. Lol.

It is a special time When Mum and daughter go shopping together. Even my other daughter would not dream of making a fuss. She was always busy admiring the purchases. ha ha. As her sister did when no 1 girl and I went shopping. They have always bought things for each other. A is the last one of my 5 to have children so her siblings and wives, partners have spoilt her and M R rotten to make up for all the years she spoilt them and their kids. Enjoy this time with your girl grizzly.

Hi Carol Give our best to Zoe after all she started this neat thread. Arthritis is really painful. This heat does not help either. I go down to Hamilton quite a bit so maybe we can all catch up at some stage.

What a neat message from Carol!!! And what a pain I am in the South Island!!! You'll all have to have an extra cream cake for me when you meet up!!! My evenings are full of cross-stitch and knitting. I really want to get my cardy finished before I start more baby knitting and my stock in the shop is getting low as well. I'm half way up the second sleeve and getting really excited to see it finished.

Zoe Sounds like you have great family members around you! Well done reading a whole book in a day.
I agree, smartgirl, sometimes the messages are all over the place.
My wee grandson has passed his awful cold on to me, boo hoo. I wonder if I can use it as an excuse to get out of the housework this weekend? Chance would be a fine thing!

Hi girls It is a shame you are in the South Island grizzly but hey!that is not that far away. Did not get my wool smartgirl and I am having serious misgivings. I could only contact seller through her/his listing because my emails were never answered. Just sent another but may have to go thru feedback. Said it was posted. Welcome back woolshed. Nice to hear from you Zoe and sis Carol. Just made more plum jam and have tomato relish on. Can saomeone tell me why everything has to ripen in the heat? sigh

Whoops spelling error I do know why. It would be nicer if it all happened in the winter wouldn't it? Banana cake is out of oven so have to rescue it. Got visitors this arvo and need cake to survive until then ha ha. OOH Spotlight is selling heaps of wool at $1 a ball again. Got some yesterday, even got that sock wool for $1 it was $6-95 and it is good enough for me to practice.

Hi makereal, I think I will have to call you the cooking and baking queen of trademe. What spotlight do you go to?? I am going up to Whangarei on thurs or fri and will have plenty of time to do some shopping etc. Our spotlight has hardly any wool specials, it must be cause we are colder.

Despite 'flu I was inspired by makerealbany's efforts and I baked ginger crunch, banana cake and a rhubarb pie yesterday. Best I've done for a while. Thanks MA!

I love Ginger Crunch grizzly Had a lousy 2 days. Eldest daughter was admitted to hospital with severe chest and arm pains. Did all the usual, could be her heart. She hasn't been going to the gym lately and has complained of breathlessness. She needs to get rid of some of the stress makers in her life. Then baby MR has been suffering from colic and has been very unsetttled for the last 2 days and nights. I feel so helpless with my girl. Can only support her until she is well again. Hope her tests show something. Little MR is soothed by cuddles, tummy rubs, singing etc so at lest I feel useful giving her parents a break. It is still so darn hot too.

smartgirl try Wairau Park Spotlight Apparently there will be heaps of $1 specials in next two weeks as they clear old stock. Yes these messages have gremlins playing in them.

I'm getting people mixed up, too is this the new baby's mum who isn't well? Gosh that is certainly going to be very stressful on family and she must be very worried herself? Can't believe I'm saying this but was too sick for knitting yesterday. Don't think I'm any better today as haven't had much sleep in between.

grizzly4 - 2008-02-05 10:09:00

It is the baby.s Aunty The midwife daughter who is unwell. She has been tired after work for months now. I had a feeling she was not well but she is not one to complain. Baby has no colic when she is fed on just breastmilk so her Mum is trying to increase her milk supply. Smartgirl finally registered for beaniesforbabies. Sale at spotlight in 2 weeks I was told. Me too grizzly was so tired last night did not lnit a stitch, sigh,

Makereal, I hope your daughter is feeling better, it is so worrying. you never stop being a mum do you only you get more to worry about, not just your kids but theirs too. thanks for finding out about spotlight sale, i will definately call in there. glad you registered on the site. it is such a good cause. with all that has been going on lately, it is no wonder you were feeling tired. grizzly, I hope you are feeling better today.

I feel like I have been to the gym. Sore stomach and shoulder muscles and ribs from all the coughing! I wonder how many calories I'm burning up especially as you can't eat chocolate and cough at the same time!! I'm getting there, Smartgirl, I keep telling myself it's only a cold!!
Best wishes to your daughter, makerealbany. Off to buy a new microwave today as my 5 year old one has blown up! Don't make 'em like they used to!!

Got my errands done in the morning yesterday thinking I was heaps better but by lunchtime it all went downhill. Feeling rather defeated to be honest but today is another day and I have to show my face at work for at least a few hours. I hope you've just been busy with Waitangi Day family stuff, makerealbany and that your daughter is ok.

Hi girls Hope you are feeling better grizzly. I felt a bit fluy the other day so I stuffed myself with heaps of vitamin c. Feeling better now. My daughter seems to be recovering but we will see. Grandchildren back at school. Whoopee!!!! Baby put on 200 grammes last week and grew 5 and 1/2 cms. Mum is producing enough milk which is brilliant. So things are looking up there. Went into the city with my grandson to AUT and spent 2 hours doing the enrolment. Had to get a warrant for my car but it needs a brake hose, so stopped at Auto Cheap to order it. Got a filter and some oil to change that. Did not have much change left when I got home. ha ha

I have been knitting myself a sleeveless cotton top. Going along nicely. Got a pile of lovely patterns from the local op shop for 20 cents each and the top pattern was one. Tomatoes are ripening all over our gardens so after giving heaps away I threw a few bags in the freezer tonight. Neighbour brought over a lovely Gingerbread cake bless her. I need to lose a few calories myself after all the goodies I have been sampling so off to gym in the morning. Took one of the dogs for a walk last night and my darn feet were all swollen when I got back. Although it was cooler last night.

I give up! Have an appointment at the Doctors this morning. I hate going on anti-biotics but it seems that it is going to be necessary every cold I get now. I got asthma when I was 40 so maybe it is something to do with that. Pleased to hear things are ticking along for you, makerealbany. Smartgirl was right, we jumped right into worry mode when we didn't hear from you, even for a short time!

Hi girls Daughter was back in Hospital yesterday. Pain in chest and couldn;t breathe again. My son was not impressed with the situation so did some research on the medication she has to take for an existing probelm and found that in rare cases it causes tiredness, sweating, pain in chest and arms, palpatations etc, etc. He discussed this with the drs at the hospital and they suspect this is the cause. She cannot just cease taking the drug she has to wean herself off it. Will have more tests to see if there is any permanent damage to her heart. She is still in pain and very tired. The Consultant who prescribed the drug was unaware of the research. We are so angry and thank heavens we have some intelligent people in the family to work these things out. She has been telling the Consultant of all her symptoms because she has been too tired

makerealbany - 2008-02-10 00:00:00
640

. After work She has had to go home and rest and this has being going on for weeks. Apparently once this drug reaches saturation the symptoms occur. She was on her way to work and rang and said it is happening again Mum. What a week it has been. Well at lest we know what it is now we just have to support her with the children, house, etc because her husband is overseas again. More of an ornament really and not a very good one at that.!!! If you have girls keep them away from Helicopter Pilots that work overseas!!!! On the bright side bubs is doing well and is smiling at everyone. sigh!!!! She is a cutie. Had her cousin over today but MR 4 is not impressed because she cannot play with him yet and she crys.ha ha.

makerealbany - 2008-02-10 00:09:00
641

makereal, i am so glad they have found the problem, fingers crossed there is no damage. bloody consultants, they think they are so above everyone else. i love the ornament bit and i see you have not lost your sense of humour, it certainly helps to get through these things.
dont forget to take care of
youself as well.
i am off to the specialist tomorrow morning and i dont like him either. he asks me questions and before i have time to finish answering he is on to something else.

smartgirl - 2008-02-10 09:10:00
642

Hi smartgirl Good luck with the specialist. I usually say to them when they do that to me. " As I was saying" and then I repeat whatever. Or do what my Mum does. If they are trying to hurry her out the door she says things like. " I was charged $150 for what I was told took up to an hour and that fee reflects that time. So as I DID NOT UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING YOU SAID CAN YOU CLARIFY THIS FOR ME, ETC. She is a real classic and they always end up answering anything she asks until she looks at her watch and starts to get up. Daughter had a lousy night but is cheerful today.

makerealbany - 2008-02-10 19:10:00
643

Your poor daughter will take her off that drug? If so how fast will these side effects take to go away? My preggie daughter has come up in the most awful rash, chemist says it is perfectly normal for last tri-mester but she is only 23 weeks and nothing is giving her relief, poor thing. All over her baby tummy, buttocks, thighs and arms. Meanwhile I'm back on prednisone and hubby on antibiotics. We're a great lot, I must say!

grizzly4 - 2008-02-11 08:19:00

Went wool shopping yesterday Bought a ball here and a ball there and buttons for my cardy ant $77.00 later. Boy it added up fast! I'll get half back as some of it is for orders waiting to be done at the shop but the rest is for baby on the way. Lots of projects on the go now.... Yippee

grizzly4 - 2008-02-11 08:22:00
645

I feel so sorry for these pregnant girls it seemed so much easier when we had our kids. I was not going to say I went to spotlight, cause I spent about the same as you grizzly. I have no wool power.

smartgirl - 2008-02-11 10:57:00
646

Have you ever heard of this rash called PUPPP which is short for a very long complicated name. Maybe, makerealbany, you could ask your midwife daughter when she feels well enough? My daughter's midwife is away for 2 months and the backup one has heard of it but never seen it before and doesn't know what to suggest. I might start a thread (my first) under the parent heading and see what I get.

grizzly4 - 2008-02-12 07:59:00
647

grizzly, i have never heard of it but i just googled it and there is heaps about it, one said it was the most commom rash in pregancy. i hope this takes away some of your concern. i know how you feel.

smartgirl - 2008-02-12 08:52:00
648

We did the google thing too but no didn't stop any concerns we have. Those sites mentioned hydrocortizone and antihistamine treatments which are a no no when pregnant and early delivery!!!

grizzly4 - 2008-02-12 10:09:00
649

Sorry I cant help but you could try ringing the healthline. did you try parenting. good luck

smartgirl - 2008-02-12 10:31:00
650

Hi grizzly Daughter said if the rash is that bad that it prevents your girl sleeping, etc, then one has to weigh up risks and benefits. She has prescribed antihistamines as well as hydrocortizone on different occassions. The small amounts may provide a small risk to baby but a huge benefit for Mum. She will give me more info once she has finished burbing her niece. We are visiting.
