The coin thread is all about forged or dud coins at present which seems to be a big problem with the many forgeries being done in China at present. Thanks goodness we don't have the same hassles in the stamp thread.

Fair enough always nice to have the ones you get awarded with. My 5yr old tells me she will win some one day lol. I will have to keep trying to get her to focus on coins but she thinks stamps look pretty so I have no chance haha

I am committed to offer for sale only genuine philatelic items.

Why are there just about 550 stamps on this site presently ?

Has anyone found stamp collections in a Garage Sale ?

Probably because you have your search set to only the northland region not all locations

Finding surprises I would have thought so too - in the old days !
Nowadays it would really be rainbow luck as the decline in youth collections get to be El Dorados.

Searching through the occasional 'Estates' one could get lucky as heirs may not have offered to interested parties or swallowed up the riches to continue themselves hobby wise.

There are plenty of garage sales out there with stamp collections. one of my friends who is a keen Garage sale hunter always asks at each garage sale if they have any stamps and while normally they don't have any on show about 50% of households say "Wait a minute, I think we might have some inside in a drawer". He has bought plenty of collections this way but very few by just looking in the garage. You need to ask for what it is you are collecting. Same thing goes for coins, banknotes, postcards etc.

For me because of the Christchurch earthquakes and all the people re-housing, downsizing etc I am being offered heaps of material because I advertise in the "Wanted to Buys". The downside of course is that a great deal of rubbish is coming my way!

Been far too busy with business to indulge in chit-chat. I'm not talking rubbish either. I have been so busy during June. Even today (A Saturday) when I'm not normally here I was flat stick with visitors from 9am through to just after 2 pm when i close. The cold weather is great for stamp collecting. our stamp club meeting last Wednesday we had a large number of apologies for non attendance but ended up with around 40 people present on a really cold night.

Thank you - the above is really from a pro bro.
I can already picture some stamp collectors visiting the GSs with lots of hope, but as it is said - one has to ask to get lucky.

The "Jerry"factor is the key

Muzza, You really are a fool. The Hurricanes are clearly the best North island team this season. Just look at their wonderful record and this started well before any Jerry Collins effect.
My support this coming weekend will be with the Highlanders who have had a wonderful record this season. They are a champion team, not a team of "Names" as some other franchises have been. I was born in Dunedin but all my grand-children live in Wellington. My heart remains with the Highlanders and its behind them I will stand! I take it you will still see the Chiefs as the best team on the planet when their star has well and truely sunk beyond the horizon covered by the Waikato River fog.

Is there any interest out there in Belgium, Suriname and Netherland Antilles stamps? I have this last week purchased substantial collections from each of these countries but am debating weither i should offer them via trademe. I also have multi volume collections of stamps on topics of ships, Royalty and chess to dispose of so its a matter of which to tackle first. Any suggestions?

Last time I checked Rugby was called a Team sport and you play as a team rather than in sequence like a Cricket team does when batting. May the best "Team" win!!!!!!

Absolutely nothing to do with stamps. Who said it did. not me! The fool was the person claiming that the Hurricanes weren't the best North Island based team this year when results clearly proved they were!

Have you got the hot sausage rolls and coffee organised? I know i was too busy last time to take a break but if you brought some savories along and put them in the oven i'm sure I'd find some time.

Hi all, I am looking for a copy of: Stamps on Music Adam Miller 2007 The World-wide Catalogue & Handbook of Stamps issued under Copyright Acts. Is there anyone in NZ who sells/has one for sale here?
Many thanks in advance.
