Too wind to walk last night so went to McDonald's for tea instead. LOL. Making a Christmas floral gift box at the Women's Group today. Looking forward to seeing the finished product 'cos I dreamed this one up in my head. I had something else planned originally but wasn't impressed when it came to actually doing it. I think they will have fun with the new idea. School start dates for the new year have changed!!!!! so I have to change the dates of our holiday programme!!!!! However it does mean I will get a month off now where I was having to shorten my break to 3 weeks before. Yippee!

Little flower boxes worked a treat and they loved them! Didn't take long so we had a couple of games of bingo as well just for a laugh. It was a good morning. I have 3 largish tasks to get done today and if it works I will be ready for the next few meetings etc over the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed. Feet were too swollen to walk last night, I don't know why they do that. One has happened since the 2010 earthquake when that leg was badly bruised, ankle is swollen 90% of the time now. The other is random. Weather was pretty stormy last night anyway. No walking tonight either as I have a late meeting. LOL. So much for this exercise idea.

Had a haircut and restyled etc today. My daughters paid for it. 4 hours later and $200 . It looks fantastic. So it should lol. I must admit I do look much better ha ha. Yes it is strange how legs swell and drive us us crazy. Today was the first of 3 days off for me. Yippee. I have lots to get through. M wants to make Bath Bombs again for her teachers. K. Is making Cookies and J is making Muffins. Lucky Teachers they have. K also wants to pot up a Lavender Shrub for his Mum so we have the pot so he can paint it. I planted up cuttings and they are all healthy bushes now. I am knitting M a Yellow and Maroon scarf for her Play. Harry Potter. She is Hermine Grainger so A and M are making the rest of the costume.

Yep, sounds like a day off to me! LOL. I am trying to find just the right fabrics for borders on the towel sets I am giving the adults this Christmas. Remember we are making the presents? S is cheating outright and making up gift baskets and DIL is moaning she doesn't know what to do now. Sigh. We were all joking that the men are off the hook once again but I have suggested to I. that he makes up a tool board for our son's garage wall, just to prove he can. In regards to fabric I have found (yes on TM) a cups of coffee fabric for S. and plan on buying coffee pods for her new coffee maker and I'm looking for Irish Coffee glasses to put with it. Nothing like supporting an addiction! The fabric for my son is 'Pac Man' as it's the closest I could get to computer games. I couldn't find anything with off road bikes etc. DIL is the problem. She loves pigs but haven't found a nice one yet. I'm a bit stuck for the 3 grandson's this year. I'm normally sorted by now. WE have decided against the Techno Pups.

Boy, that was a long week! But I think I completed everything on my list that I needed to by Friday. A much quieter weekend , I think, son is working in garage with I. trying to finish renovating BIL's quad. So just L7 and me for the day with nice easy meals planned. One of our nieces's has given us a huge plush giraffe that her baby had been given. They've never liked it but of course L is giraffe mad! So it's here and L and I are going to give it a good wash while it's hot here. He'll love it. LOL.

Hi, I make lots of crafts all year round. This year, instead of a Garage Sale, I am having a Craft Sale in Auckland on 29 November 2014 :)

I tried to post last night and my IPad went flat in the middle of it so I gave up and went to bed lol. It is endearing how the little ones love certain toys. M takes her stuffed Rabbit with her if she goes in the car. J cannot sleep without Tigga and His big Superman. K had dinosaurs and a collection of soft toys on his bed. We take them all off except for soft Teddy when he is asleep. E has soft fluffy cats because the real ones run away from her lol. L will love that Giraffe. What oh what are Techno Pups? Had a quiet day at home by myself today.it was heaven ha ha. I sorted out materials for projects. I wish T had a sewing Machine. I simply cannot be bothered loading mine into the car . K came down with his Aunty. So I have him until tomorrow night. The Xmas Parade was on in Orewa today. K was on the Surf Livesaving Float to the delight of his cousins and nephew. There is a big Gala up there tomorrow so K and I will most likely go. They have good plants for sale.
Lillie's are starting to flower already. Hyacinths have appeared also and the Begonias are starting to get leaves. Still windy today though. Working on that scarf still. My mind is full of ideas to use this beautiful wool I found when sorting my material. I remember buying it about 5 years ago. Sometimes I worry myself ha ha.

makerealbany - 2014-11-22 22:22:00
6408

Yep my lillies are starting as well. And begonias, but I think your weather has been worse than ours. The new rockery by the letterbox has an ice plant in it (Only 1 of 6 that survived) covered in beautiful apricot flowers and all the roses are out. I need to work on tidying the flower bed down the back, it's been a bit neglected with the new ones to play with. I need to replace a few plants down there this year. Fabric all sorted now for towel sets, and I'm getting enough of the girl's ones to cover a couple of small art canvas' to match. Techno pups are the newest robot toys in Toyworld and The Warehouse. LOL. Cute but too many things can go wrong like just yesterday L broke the connection point on his recharger for his tablet. Techno Pups need kids to have tablets or Ipods to work them. We have decided to go with an idea I had for their birthdays a couple of years ago and get a family pass to something for each of the boys. Our son said L would just love to back to Orana Wildlife Reserve so it seems I'm on the right track. Thought I might include afternoon tea money and souvenir money for them as well or vouchers if I can get them. I am on my way to being organised for Xmas finally.

grizzly4 - 2014-11-23 09:33:00
6409

You certainly are. My roses are out as well. We got my grandson to come over to weedeat and spray the easement driveway to the neighbours and the cheeky bugger of a neighbour had been up the driveway and done it already. There is a non Trepass order out against him but he just ignored it. We would not have done that but after all the demands and abuse we did. Lawyers letters Re flying back and forth grrrr. He wouldn't dare if my Sil was home. We don't trust him to do anything as he takes liberties like cutting down our two best Plum trees. Honestly it's driving us nuts wondering what the hell he will do next. We know he wants us to go and tell him off but we are not that dumb ho ho. The Community Constable is coming out tomorrow. He is just trying to intimidate us again. Grandchildren everywhere today so no knitting or sewing done sigh.

Where did the weekend go?!!!! Put lots of dahlias and gazinias in the garden yesterday, that should brighten up that corner. Having a wee doze in the afternoon and visitors arrived. I. was in the garage so couldn't warn me. How embarrassing! S and B6 came for tea as well so no break after my gardening. Sigh. Another big week ahead so will have to decide on a knitting project for the week that will be plain sailing and not require too many functioning brain cells. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-11-24 06:24:00
6411

You have the right to doze. Ho ho. K5 was home today. He woke me at 1 then 3 than 4.30. He gets growing pains and I have to massage his little legs. What a night. This morning he woke at 7 threw up all over the clean sheets. I changed him and his bed and put a towel over the clean pillow slips. I had just got the Vomiting Bowl as he calls it, out of the cupboard and he did it again but this time in the bowl. He slept until 11 then was a box of birds. Ate and ate. He is very thin so heaven knows where the food goes. I'm off to bed as I am knackered.

Kids get over those bugs so quick don't they? I used clean mine up and put them back to bed and then spend the rest of the night dreading I was going to get it and try to re-plan the next couple of days just in case. LOL. Actually I still do when I know I have been in contact with something. (Shudder). A long day ahead today with an early start and a late finish with the last management meeting for the year with dinner out after. I have to fit in 2 hours relieving at one of the programmes today as well as all the relievers are tied up with exams this week.

Grizzly I'm immune to the kids tummy bugs but not their colds lol. Got home tonight and did some sewing. I have several pairs if white Linen pants that are years old but so comfortable. I put patchwork Diamonds on one pair and they look great. Tomorrow I'm going to put hearts on another pair . I took the tie out of a waistband but have to buy more elastic to put in the waist. I'm sick of tying the cord. It always comes loose. I had one three quarters pair with ties in the bottom so I took them out and I'll put a strip of patchwork around. Should have done it years ago. M has her Harry Potter Scarf for morrow to go with her outfit. She's very pleased with it ha ha. We have made her so many costumes for things at school. We have decided to put all the outfits in large labeled plastic bags and store them for the future. Much easier than digging thru her three containers of dress ups. Christmases descending fast now. Sigh.

Is it ever! Had my first end of year dinner last night. It was a great night but I'm a bit knackered this morning. Your pants sound great, what a good idea. I bought new white pants for this summer but haven't worn them yet, sticking to the pair I've had for last 3 years. LOL. I'm never going to get round to replacing a zip that keeps running down in my favourite jeans. I hate mending with a vengeance.

M looked fantastic at her Book Fancy Dress. J loved all the boys outfits but said " M was the best aye Nan" ha ha Very loyal that boy. I was working on a quilt until 10 tonight so I'm going to get up at 4.30 and go to my daughters in the morning. Must admit I hate replacing Zips. Ah so much to do but off to bed now.

makerealbany - 2014-11-26 23:30:00
6419

Yep, my guess is I'll keep wearing those jeans as they are, moan about the zip every time I put them on, until they wear out somewhere else! LOL.I felt a bit off yesterday, not sure whether it was because I was out late the night before but I was exhausted after the Women's Group and we only went out for coffee yesterday. It was the noise and being talked at all the time I think, doesn't usually get to me that bad, all I wanted to do was hide away for the rest of the day doing accounts but had to be home by 3 to look after B6 who talked non-stop all afternoon until he was picked up about 7.30! Escaped for half an hour after tea to water the gardens while he watched t.v with Poppa. Hopefully today will be better. I have brought the cash books home to start them early. No meetings today. I am working , very slowly, on another dolls layette. At least it knits up fast in 8ply.

Not the best day yesterday yesterday, I have to say.....from your experience, makerealbany, did the organisations you were involved with have to use a chartered accountant to meet funding criteria? I am getting so many mixed pieces of information but it would save thousands per year if we didn't have to. I was trying to sort this, deal with a security issue, a staffing issue, a school issue and all I really wanted to do was my accounts. LOL. We've had really strong nor'west winds here for 2 days and they affect everyone badly. It seems calm here this morning so here's hoping for everything else being calm today as well.

Gosh your day was worse than mine lol. Yes we had to have an Audit by a Chartered Accountant. One Organisation had a lovely Man who charged us the bare minimum. He volunteered his time even after he had retired. The Others we paid really hefty amounts. They have to be signed off by a Charetered Accountant. So some Organisations do all their own books and get them signed off. However the CA will have to check them in order to audit so it's not really worth it time wise . I had meetings with the CA , decided what computer programme to use , setup the codes and then loaded all the data. It was easy once I did the initial work. Bank Reconcilliations, wages, Gst, etc were all simple as long as you didn't have interruptions ho ho. At the end of the Financial year I had all my Printouts plus the disc with the data loaded for the Accountant. One person entering the Data is so much easier once you have the correct codes. It's when others enter data and put items in the wrong coding that you want to rip your hair out. When I inherited half done books it was a nightmare. Unfortunately Accountantancy Fees are costly unless you find a sympathetic CA . You can't get funding for it either. Yes the winds stir people up. Still quilting here. Bed for me now. 4.30 wake up tomorrow sigh.

Actually it was 2007! I'm answering my own question. LOL. I re-read some of the messages about our grandchildren, makerealbany and your 10th was due and L was 32 months old! Wow! Remember back that far? LOL

Its amazing how time passes. Now I have two more grandchildren and a great grandson. T only worked an 8 hour shift today so I drove home and fell on my bed and slept ha ha. I had K5 and J4 today so was rather tired. Tonight I have started soaking my Christmas Cake mixture, made 3 doz Bathbombs which everyone loves and worked on my latest quilt. T has a 12 hour shift tomorrow but my Ex Sil is taking K fishing so It won't be so tiring for me. He loves going fishing with Uncle C. M6 has cooking lessons from 10 to 2 so A is happy about that as she has a sore throat and is worn out. I have to plant my Tomato plants out tomorrow as they are big enough but I don't like the wind. I'll shelter them for awhile. I'm going to read for 15 mins and sleep again.

makerealbany - 2014-11-30 00:04:00
6427

We were in bed by 9 last night, we were that tired after family here all afternoon. LOL. Mind you I did a fair bit in the garden while I. was at work in the morning and had B6 here as well from 8.30am. Knitting is going out the window at present, I think I am going to have UFO's this week. (I've never had to use that term before).

grizzly4 - 2014-11-30 09:28:00
6428

UFOS are a speciality of mine at the moment. No craft of any sort tonight. Too tired to concentrate as my sciatica is still giving me hell and now I have Plantar Faciitis in my darn right foot. After limping all day I'll be glad to crawl into bed ha ha. I'm going to see Mum next weekend so it had better improve before my long drive. Sigh. On a happier note M6 and J4 had a great time today. After Ms cooking class she helped her Mum pick out a tree and I left the three of them decorating it when I went up to T's . Now he will nag his Mum tomorrow for his tree. Children love decorating.

I meant L was 3 months old. Good grief my typing's bad. LOL.
What you have in your foot is what I. had during winter and we went through that process with the supports, I think. I can never remember the names they give to things.
Another good day yesterday, I baked in the morning and did a bit more spring cleaning before finishing the dolls set, enlarging a doll's blanket for a preschool order and starting another one for the shop.

I slept mist of the day again. Sigh. Think it's the meds. J4 was here from 8 to 11. We made Playdough and then he wanted to make a Christmas Tree Decoration. It was so funny. He had a vision obviously. I cut a small branch of a real Christmas tree I have in a pot on the verandah. That was stuck in a sea of Playdough. He then took bits if Potpouri from my Christmas Bowl. Collected a little pine cone from outside as well as dried moss and twigs. He arranged them all himself on a gold paper dinner plate. Stood back and told me it was missing something. I got a can if Chrustmas Snow and he sprayed a bit on the tree and the twigs. Looked up with a huge smile and said" I'm finished Nan isn't it cool ? He made his Mum carry it across the driveway. I only lay down for 5 mins duh 4 hours later. Ha ha. Yes it USA begger wearing support sox. I get too hot. I have done some more mending and now I'm going to bake some little Gingerbread loaves to freeze and make more bath bombs for K's teachers. M wrapt hers today and they look really cute. Tomorrow I will be more motivated lol. Thank heavens T is not working until Thursday

It's the time of the year, too, I think. Everyone around me is tired and I daren't stop or I start nodding off, driving home is the worst. Then at night it takes ages to go to sleep. Last 2 nights have been shocking. I managed to finish another doll's blanket last night. I have to organise the shop banking and do some end of month book work for the shop before I leave for work this morning. Going to be a bit of a rush, I think.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-02 06:13:00

Had a great day hobbling around lol. Baked 4 more Lemon Fruit Loaves and 4 Banana Loaves for the freezer, cleaned the cottage, put up all my Christmas decorations , made my very last batch of 40 Bath Bombs , cleaned my car, weeded a garden , did some weaving tonight for two hours and finally I started on the Dolly Dress Toilet Roll Cover for Mum. Just noticed the time so I'm off to bed.

makerealbany - 2014-12-03 00:46:00

Cooked my Christmas Cake today. Had to take all the ingredients to my daughters. I used Cointreau to steep the fruit in. No Children allowed a piece of this cake. Left it up there with strict instructions to my older grandson not to touch it lol. He said the smell of it cooking when he arrived home from work was so tempting ha ha. My leg and foot gave me hell all day. Painkillers and Antiflammes do not seem to be working. I rested as much as I could but not sure if I can make the long drive to Mums on Saturday. Well see. The toilet roll dress is progressing lol.

Really stressful here right now. Apart from work and the shop, I mean. I have just found out I. stopped taking his meds 2 weeks ago and it really explains the extreme mood swings etc. I couldn't figure it out and have been blaming the time of the year and the fact that he changed jobs and won't get a holiday like the rest of us. It was awful when I tried to talk to him about it, as expected, I suppose. Two days on, I feel angry, let down and defeated. It's been such a good 5 years since he's been on them and all this stuff now is bringing back memories of dealing with it for the first 30 years of our marriage.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-04 06:53:00
6435

Big hugs girl. You do have a lot to deal with at this time. Sometimes people can be so stubborn about their meds. Either they feel good and think they no longer need their meds or they feel lousy and blame the meds. I can understand why you feel the way you do. After 5 years just to stop taking them will be having an effect on him . I felt there was something wrong, don't know why. I hope he sees reason and starts taking them again. I'm thinking of you.

6436

I'm off tomorrow to drive down and see Mum. I'll be back late Sunday night. I hope the weekend improves for you my friend. Sending you lots of love. I finished Mums Toilet Roll cover. M thinks it's cool and wants a dress in the same pattern as the doll lol. I'm just going to make some sweets for Mum and then I'm off to bed.

makerealbany - 2014-12-05 20:24:00
6437

Thank you for the hugs, I can't imagine not coming on here each day. It's a great kick start to the morning, LOL. I think things are improving, but what would I know! I missed all the cues that things were going wrong for him. He's back on his medication and got a barrelling from the Dr who told him I (as in me) knows best. That's the last thing he needed! Anyway he's talking to me again now and luckily he backed out of some things he was going to do with our money at the last minute. Thank goodness. I took this stuff to Supervision on Thursday and she has suggested a might get something out of the Al Anon way of dealing with situations out of my control., so it doesn't have quite the same effect on me. I have a couple of books to read over my break to see what I think. I'm up for any miracle, LOL. However at least the weekend looks as if it's back on track and I am so behind getting my decorations up. L7 is coming to give me a hand this afternoon. Tomorrow their is a local Christmas market and we have to pick B6 up from his Dad's so he will come with us. I hope the weather holds up. Weird summer so far. I hope you have a lovely weekend with your Mum, I take it your foot has improved if you are making that trip? Talk to you soon.

I hope your weekend is going well, she says, knowing you won't get this message till you get back. LOL. It was a good day here yesterday. I managed to get a few more things organised for Christmas and the decorations and tree up. Only part of the family here for tea so quite relaxing and we had a few laughs. Things on track to being back to normal, I hope.

Glad things are better. Had a great time with Mum.she lives her pressies especially the Toilet Roll Cover Doll. She put it on her cabinet ha ha. The dress is so full and pretty . You wouldn't know what it was really. Looks like a doll in a beautiful dress. I stopped every hour for a stretch and a break. Did that on the way home this afternoon as well. I'm so glad I went. I had to clean out a shed agggggain ha ha. Took her for a ride to the lakes after we had lunch in town. She napped all the way there. She gets tired very easily. Wanted to go shopping but an hour was enough. She then sat at the Mall in the sun while I ran thru the shops getting her order ha ha. Came home to the neighbour getting up to tricks on our property again. Legal Notices have no effect on that arrogant SOB. Honestly it's dreadful. He's turned into the neighbour from Hell. My son also stopped taking his meds and has been self medicating with the wrong things so his sisters and I are annoyed and upset and you know what that is like. Males are a real pain in the Old proverbial. I'm so tired so it's bed early for me. Mum talked most of the night sometimes to herself while I dozed ha ha.

makerealbany - 2014-12-07 22:18:00
6440

I'm glad you had a good time with your Mum, sounds like she has you on the go the whole time you are there. LOL. It's not just men, either, DIL took herself off her meds a month before her exams because she was feeling so good going for a walk each day. Was back on them about 10 days later. My goodness how people mess about with prescription drugs is dreadful. I. has messed himself up physically as well as mentally with his stopping and starting, he is absolutely exhausted but even being back on them for less than a week I can see the difference in his outlook. I'm a bit stuffed because it's so emotionally draining supporting him through it all. I have a full on week ahead with lunches and dinners, meetings, movies and parties. Somehow I still have to finish the GST and PAYE.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-08 06:22:00
6441

Let alone knitting! I've forgotten what that is. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-08 06:23:00
6442

You are right it is not only men. That was a really sexist comment I made. I apologize. I have an early start so I had better get to bed. No knitting here either. It is very draining being supportive . Sometimes I wish we could be more selfish but then that's hard to do as well.

makerealbany - 2014-12-08 23:02:00
6443

Agreed, it's men and DIL's. LOL. I've given up knitting for the shop for at least the next week. I have decided to start my cardy as I can pick it up when I want to and not feel the pressure to have it finished for when I work in the shop next. The peplum back starts with 195 stitches, I did about 10 rows last night. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-12-09 06:22:00
6444

No knitting for me. Was baking for K today. I have to do some more for his school on Thursday. Fundraising lol. Time just runs away lately. By the time I drive home after T gets home and then sort stuff out its Midnight sigh. I'll be productive at home tomorrow lol.

Yucky weather today! No idea what I should be wearing these days, is it summer or still winter? I have the Women's Group end of year lunch today and our combined programme movie trip this afternoon for the children. (About 70 of us). LOL. Only another 10 or so rows again last night on my cardy although last one was a decrease so now I only have 188 stitches on now. LOL. I will be decreasing every 10 rows from now on till I get to armhole shaping. Yippee. Who knows I might step up to 15 rows per night soon. Glad I'm doing this cardy for autumn.

Good Morning. I have watered my garden even though it is supposed to rain. Very muggy up here. I'm on the Preschool run this morning and then M6 and I will be busy weeding until it rains. After that we have Lemon Honey to make. We also have to cut circles out of Xmas fabric for T's Tamarind Chutney she made for presents for her work mates. Then M6 wants to sew a skirt for herself. After that who knows ha ha. Have a great day.

You think?! I think it's really slow going. LOL. Your plans for yesterday makes me want to be spending the doing making stuff, too. Once I finish work I have 3 towel sets waiting for borders plus 2 sets of canvas to cover with matching fabric for S and DIL's presents, I have all the makings for a bag for son's helmet, and I have bought very cool wee jars to make lemon honey for gifts as well. I also plan to finally make the fabric I bought 2 summer's ago into a dress and then there's cardy. LOL. Today is the last day for all our programmes so I am going to running around giving out chocolates and vouchers to the part-time staff and volunteers. I have a full morning meeting, which is really too late in the year but can't tell govt agencies we are too busy! Tonight is the shop's last meeting over a dinner as well. From tomorrow I can concentrate on my book work and finally finish the GST and PAYE returns before I finish on Wednesday. We had a lovely trip (nearly 70 of us) to the preview of Big Hero Six yesterday. Excellent movie, all the kids were completely absorbed.

Ohh that's great. Might take M to see it. Last night I made Hokey Pokey , Chocolate Fudge and Chocolate. I have just washed my car after the Rotorua Trip. Planted three trees and now I'm about to shower again lol. I still have to do K' s baking. They want Muffins and Cupcakes so that's easy. It's why I made sweets last night so I could grate some over the Cupcakes. I was going to bake last night but cleaned my cupboards instead. You know how it is you start one job and end up doing another. Plus side is that all the ingredients are ready on the table. Muggy here.

Cold here, again! Pretty miserable week here weatherwise, actually, I was getting used to being able to hang all the washing outside every morning and then watering the gardens. Sigh, but now I'm almost back in winter clothes. It'll be an early day today for me with programmes closed and S. needs me to have B6 while she attends the tradies shout her company puts on for all the tradesmen they have used over the year to maintain their properties. It was one of her builders that has been working for me redoing the boys toilet floor. Excellent recommendation. Will have to take B out on our usual Friday night 'date night'. LOL. I would also like him to buy a wee something for his Mum for Christmas, too. He will be back tomorrow night to stay over as S has her actual work dinner. I will be knackered by Sunday. But wait I'm knackered now and he's not even here yet. LOL. Went out for dinner myself last night but not that impressed with the menu unfortunately. I decided to stick with a curry but was goat curry. My head was struggling around this. Wasn't bad but was swimming in oil, not sure I'd try it again.
