Hi Corey,

There is an active stamp club in Rangiora which meets at the Rangiora High School. I think they meet Wednesday nights but best to check with the school office who should know. Otherwise you can go along to the Christchurch Stamp fair at 67 mandeville St on the 1st or 3rd Saturday morning each month 9am to mid-day. Good luck

I'll make sure I bring along some new goodies. Perhaps some USA, Canada and something a bit different. I'm sure I'll be able to tempt many regulars.

is there still an invercargill stamp club and if so when and where do they meet

It is called the Southland Philatelic Society and it is very active.
Meetings are held at the Senior Citizens Centre, corner Forth and Nith Streets, Invercargill, at 8pm on the first Thursday (except January) and at 1:30pm on the third Tuesday (except January and December) of every month.
Junior Meetings are held at the same venue on the same evening as the adults.
They also organise a annual stamp fair which I drive down to Invercargill to attend. They have a very active exchange branch too.

Don, you can also go to the New Zealand Philatelic Federation website to find out stamp club details for any affiliated Society in New Zealand. They have about 30 clubs listed. It doesn't list some clubs such as Rangiora.

I see they don't list any clubs in Rotorua but there is one in Tauranga and of course the Waikato Society in Hamilton.

I'll be sure to be there. I've got some collections of Greece, Nicuragua, Papua New Guinea and lots of GB and Aust new stuff so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Noticed that the coin club newsgroup seems to be trying to catch up with the number of postings on the Stamp Club newsgroup and is now just around 100 postings behind us.

Come on all stamp collectors get some messages posted!

We have an old stamp album started in the 1930s/1940s with all sorts of stamps in it from different countries. Also a couple of more modern ones set up by children. Nobody in the family wants them & I wonder where I could take them to sell, I suspect one or two stamps could be quite valuable. Any ideas?

To Mr Donaldo
I have a box of Postcards with Pictorial date stamp's on them, Issued by the Pictorial Date-Stamp Service.

Is there any interest in these , they are mostly from the late 70's early 80's.

All are in mint condition still in the envelope they were sent in with associated paper work.

They can't be in mint condition if they are postmarked. I suggest they are probably in fine used or CTO condition but certainly not mint.

As far as saleability is concerned they are a hard sale. You don't say how many you have as boxes can be many sizes but a shoebox full is probably worth $20 to $40

Hardest to find 21st Century New Zealand regular stamp issue????

My vote goes for the 2011 "BEYOND THE COAST " sheetlet of 10 self-adhesive stamps. Priced at only $20 in some catalogues, Hardly anybody can supply and all dealers are wanting to buy. I for one am an eager buyer as this sheet is really tough to find.

Biggest stamp Garage Sale in Christchurch this Saturday. My offsider Neville king is running a Stamp "Garage Sale" this Saturday 8am to 2pm at what will be a cold affair in my garage. I know there are hundreds of stamp collections on offer but collectors should be dressed warmly with thick gloves as it promises to be a cold morning. its been widely promoted so it will be interesting to see what size of turnout we get.

What's up with Australia Post ?

The following appeared in a recent Aussie dealer's email out globally:

"Unless Australian readers of this lobby their Senators, it will cost you $1.50 in September to mail a local First class letter - now 70c. Yep $1.50 a letter - thanks to Mr Fahour, paid $A4½ million to dream up such nonsense. Small standard size Registered letters are already taking over 2 weeks within Australia due to the $500m bungled mail sorting machinery mess - do NOT blame your dealer for mail delays."

I have no idea if anybody has bought more than 34 lots off of you so I can't say if it is a record but I think the most I have sold to a single customer in one week is about 25 lots so your 34 lots is more than i have ever sold to a single customer. Well done Don!

on another matter how many people that visit here belong to a stamp club and who belong to say 3 or more

I belong to the NZ Stamp Collectors Club, The Christchurch Philatelic Society, The Airmail Society and the Postal History Society. I also belong to the Postcard Society. which isn't a Stamp Club but is a related collectable.
