morning ladies, it sure is a lovely morning here carole. Heard on the weather last night and again on the radio this morning Ashburton can expect 33 degrees... yikess!!!!

Housework today, started last night lol. 10.00pm and I was cleaning the leather lounge suite. Can't sit on it for half an hour after I put the cleaner on it and it's hard to stop the Furry One so I cleaned it while he was stretched out in bed with MrK. All the drop cloths are on the line ready for when the builders arrive to take out the fire and now I'm gearing up to clean the house from top to toe. MrK thinks I'm mad as there will be more dust but it drives me crazy with hayfever.

Crafting of some sort this afternoon, I've had too many days with no needles in my hands!

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone...

Heaps of work being done by all..

Would be lovely to sit and have my hair trimmed.. I keep meaning to do it myself, but haven't got around to it yet. I did MrP's yesterday.

Hopefully these curtains will last a little longer... At least the windows will be dry this winter.

I hope to get two more done this morning.. Ill leave the dishes till later. but the Floor will be done when Im finished here.

I had wondered if the dust was affecting your hayfever last night Kiwimade.

I cut out and ironed 19 squares for hearts yesterday.. Ironed the stiffenting on then used the pinking sheers to cut them into hearts. That will keep me sewing for about 10 days ish.

Knitted two more stockings. I need to sort out some storage for it all cos the little bag I have them in is already cramped.

Ill be working around Kirstie this morning. Although Im thinking I could record it and then Ill get the front curtains done at least.

I want to sort out my hot water cupboard too. MrP keeps his big winter jackets in there and its a mess.

My dryer wouldn't work yesterday Again.. So I really need to get this part ordered.

Have a good day everyone. Its already 23 out our lounge window and that's in the shade.

we are finished the walls at long last! Took us all day to finish but we got there. Seems odd not having the gib board and just studs but ommg now we can see just how big our living room is going to be. Still didn't get to do any crafting but just too busy getting rid of dust and helping MrK with the sledgehammer. It was damed hot work so we are both really pleased with ourselves. Now to wait for the chippie and sparkie!

Hope everyone has had a fab day!

morning ladies :) We have a real peasouper of fog this morning but then we did have a very hot day and cold night so it was expected.

I'm off into town to buy a replacement end bit for the vacuum cleaner. A combination of the Furry One 'protecting' me and vacuuming up all the plaster from the walls has killed it. Floors need a good washing, was too knackered to do it yesterday.

We have studs and noggins left all ready for the builder to do his stuff and now we can really see just how much more space we are going to have. Getting quite excited now about it all.

The garden can wait until the wheelie bin is emptied tomorrow so today once the washing is out and the floors done, the day is mine. Finally will get some knitting done.

Happy knitting :)

Well what a fabulous day we had yesterday, it was far too hot to sit out on the deck and relax so I retreated to the sewing room and did some sewing instead, as it seemed to be the coolest spot in the house. I really would like to spend more time there but Mr K seems to resent any time I spend away from him - which is becoming a bit of a pain really.

Not sure what we plan to do today but no doubt it will include some knitting, sewing or crochet. Spent some time yesterday tying up "his" tomatoes, a job which I hate as I can't stand the feel of the leaves, then had to put some supports up for the dwarf beans I planted a while back which are up to five foot already - obviously the wrong beans in the packet - grrr - if I'd known they were runners I would have put them where the frame is not where I did. No wonder I'm not a keen gardener, so many hassles.

No sun yet but I think it's going to be another hot day.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.

It sounds exciting Kiwimade.. Are you having a drastic change in colour scheme or will it still match furniture etc?

I have a busy day ahead.. Have to go do bloods and a few other things up the road. I have one curtain to do but that can wait till tomorrow.
I did 2 hearts and 4 stockings yesterday.. so I was pleased with that.

Missy doesn't like our Vacuum. Bob used to ride on the Kirby when we had it. but she hides from the normal one.

Ohh I plan to trim my hair today if I have time.. I figure it wont matter if I mess it up since its only the ends and I wear it in a bun anyway lol

Have a good day everyone

we're (royal 'we' here lol) are going for neutral tones popeye but using texture in the curtains, cushions and light fittings to add interest. The colours are resenes half bison hide for the walls, double bison hide for the doors and white trim and ceiling - not that those names will mean much lol. The walls will be a soft beigey colour and the doors will have just the barest hint of soft green in them. Curtains are fawn with heavily textured vines and leaves and carpet a soft fawn which changes colour as you walk on it and move the strands. I have new cushions with tribal patterns in sage green and orange - yep orange lol and they will look great all combined together. Lights are a contemporary design in dark brown with a wood grain type pattern. We can't afford to replace the lounge suite which is chocolate brown so have kinda worked around that. But if we were to change the couches, the neutral tones means we aren't too restricted in colour choices. It's been fun choosing all the colours in spite of a few differences of opinions lol. What we had before was a mishmash of hideous striped brown badly hung curtains with awful brown walls painted over a heavily embossed wallpaper which covered up a multitude of holes and badly plastered repairs. It's a real 'do-up' home :)

Morning
The new colours sound fantastic Kiwimade, I like neutral colours so can change the overall look with the extra bits and pieces.

Going to be hot here I think but want to get into the garden at some stage it just needs a good tidy up again.

Have been out to get more dowel for my iPad readers as have decided to use a slightly bigger one and also add a couple of rows to the part that the device sits on so can fitter a bigger variety of things. Onto my eleventh one so a couple more and will call it a day for now and start something new.

Have a good day

Oh it sounds lovely Kiwimade.

I remember many years ago, 1981ish mum painted the bathroom chocolate brown and Lime green. and had some pink towels... At first it was shocking. but thinking about it now, it was trendy just years ahead of its time lol.
This house is Half tea with practically the same colour carpet. Light Beige basically... Everywhere. I hate it. Our couch looks brown with it, but its actually kinda a brown khaki colour.. But I got the nice coloured fabric, busy and it almost breaks the plainness. Id love a darker patterned carpet.

Was lucky enough to get tapestry cotton from the cheapie shops. Only wanted red, but got two packets. One has a green I will use. But 18 colours for $4-50.. I will no doubt use the others eventually. And it was cheaper than going to town for a couple of cottons lol.

Trimmed my hair. surprised how easy it was. So Ill do it every 6 months or so now.. Its getting quite long now.
I want it very long, even tho I seldom have it down I prefer long hair so I can put it up off my neck.
Ill always remember an Indian lady I worked with, her hair was to her butt. she would simple pull it around to her front and nip the ends off, no troubles lol.

A Play on here then some more sewing... I enjoy hand sewing

morning ladies, I'm just off outside to mow the lawns while it is cool. The wheelie bin man won't be far away so by the time I have a catcher full of grass the bin will be empty. Might throw some on the compost too.

Managed to get some knitting done yesterday but getting pins and needles in my fingers, I'm hoping that is just a spin off from using an electric sander for so long and it will go away soon.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Looks like a lovely day out there. next to know wind.

Lovely Carole that your grandie wants to learn these crafts.. Tell her from me, when she is an adult she will be sooo thankful you took the time to teach her.

Ohh Kiwimade, your probably right re the pins and needles. But do be carefull if you have pain with it.

Our road is a disgusting mess. The rubbish men didn't pick the bags up, so animals have had a feilday.. but once the rubbish is at the kirb it becomes council property so they have a mess to clean up.

Just going to potter with my sewing etc today.. I got the pattern for that crop cardy the scapulae cardy last night.. Soo tempted to start one. but I will print it out first.. it goes from 6 months to 10 years ( From memory). So will be a very handy pattern.

Bread is just about ready to take out. Smells wonderful

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) ooohhhhh lucky you and holly popeye! Nice to have a new shop to explore :P

Foggy here again but then we had a hot day and cold night so it was inevitable.

Window cleaning day today then I'm going to primer paint the bare wood on the window and sills. Want to protect the wood from the sun. Our house is north facing and the living room gets hammered by the sun, especially now the curtains and tracks are down. Might have to pin sheets to the walls lol.

I knitted for a bit yesterday but it just got too hot. I'm getting a tad restless for things to be done, hate waiting for others to do their bits and pieces first! Just like things done lol. Might start sanding down my capecod chairs ready for painting. I'm painting them the colour the outside doors will be and have the paint ready. I know I'm driving MrK crazy lol.

Anyhoo, will get windows done first so any dampness can dry before I paint then maybe some knitting later on.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all..
Yes it is exciting having a new shop to explore. It can wait till I need to go over tho.
I know what you mean about North facing lounges... Ours gets soooo hot that the curtains get shut on the ranch slider at lunchtime. and the others about3pm.. Its no wonder the curtains rot so fast. I stopped having nets on the ranchslider years ago.

Have to admit Im the same Kiwimade, id want things looking right by now... I was the same just with the nets, so can only imagine how hard it is for you.

I had a flat battery yesterday so didn't do anything really. Well one stocking and that's it. Even slept for an hour before lunch.

Have to pop up the road this morning to top up my phone and get some butter.

Landlords daughter came in yesterday with a new world gift card for us for Christmas. So that's going to come in very handy. Im going to stock up on bread making supplies and cat food.

Have warned MrP Carole that he wont be seeing the surprise till Ive done something to it.. For the others who don't know. MrP has always reckoned he should get tweety tattooed on his willy as Carole called it.. so I asked Carole if she was able to embroider a tweety for me. Ill sew it onto a pair of undies for him and give it to him... He will laugh his head off.. Ill have to do the sewing on with the door closed lol.

Right best get myself sorted..

Have a good day everyone

lmaooo too funny popeye and carole! Love it!

What a difference the Karcher makes with the windows, all done in less time and with less fuss. Been into town to take mrK's compressor in for repairs and he's bought the wrong paint for a project he's doing. So another trip into town after my cuppa to exchange it. Then I'll paint the windows.

Then, finally, I'm going to knit! Bit cooler today, even rained for a few minutes.

happy knitting :)

He's going to be flabbergasted lol.

I love my karcher, I cant wait for the wet windows in the winter lol..

Have done one stocking this morning.. Will sew and knit later

Morning everyone.

Carole the Tweety bird went down a treat..He loved them. And admitted its not often anyone gets something over on him lol... The one with Sylvester I will make into a cushion for him. His fave thigns from being a kid are Tweety Bird and Pinocchio.

Shopping today then knitting. Ive almost used a 200 gram ball on the stockings. another few days and Ill know how many I get from one ball.

When that's done Ill do something for CMA. And then I want some plain red, green and white stockings to put with the variegated wool ones.

Too hot for me today. I think Ill have a meltdown later.. Hope I don't cos I don't like it.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies :) we had a fab day yesterday over in Coromandel, phones turned off and just doing what we wanted. The train ride at Driving Creek was awesome, we both loved it.

I'm putting the primer paint on the windows today, didn't get to do it the other day so will make the most of the coolish day today. Although I do have that stuff you can put into paint to slow the drying down if it gets too hot.

Housework, then buying a birthday pressie for my sister, then knitting after the windows.

Hope everyone is well.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. And another hot one here.

Glad you had a nice day off yesterday Kiwimade... Does the head good to have a nice break, no matter how short.

I put pics on fb yesterday of the hearts and stockings Ive been doing.. Ive now done 30 stockings.. And still have a bit of wool left from the first ball. So its going a long way. Wish Id got more than two tho.

I had a tidy up in the sewing room. it tends to be a dumping ground for a few days, where I should put things away but just dump it on the table.. So I will do the last net curtain today.

Have an awesome day everyone

morning been up sewing. 1/2 way up last sleeve now coming on fine, how come when you try and pull the start out of the centre of a ball you get a big amount?? this batch I am using now has done it on every ball.

6383

morning ladies :) I've had that issue as well carole, must be the way the wool is wound.

Love your Christmas things popeye, you sure will be organised for this coming Christmas.

Primer paint is on the windows and around the door frames where I went back to bare wood so that's a job I can tick off the list.

Housework today but have to pick up the new foot to my vacuum cleaner which arrived late yesterday afternoon. Between the Furry One and all the plaster I've had to vacuum up the old one died.

I'm hoping to get some knitting done but just haven't had the 'get-up-go' to do any by the afternoon.

Here's hoping I can knit today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Yeah Carole some balls are just a pain in the butt to start from the middle. Funny thing, Mum never worked from the middle of the ball. yet I always have. If I get a hand wound ball from the opp shop etc I rewind it on the wool winder. I cant stand having to chase a ball of wool. And putting it in a bucket is only fine if you don't have a cat wanting it lol.

Yep Kiwimade, that's my plan for the year. To get a headstart on everything lol... Ive done 33 stocking now.. Will be sewing today as I didn't yesterday.

But first I will machine the Tweety onto MrPs boxers. I only hand sewed it on incase he didn't like it lol.

I have a doozy of a headache, just heat I think..

So it will be a day od crafts in from of the tv catching up on some of the recorded stuff.

HAve a good day everyone

morning ladies, I'm about to pop out into the garden until it gets too hot. Have to beat the convolvulus sometime. MrK very pointedly (and stupidly lol) told me I needed to 'prioritise the garden' last night. That went down like a lump of lead, especially as I had already said I was getting to the garden today. Have had so much on my plate lately, I'm not bloody superwoman! men! They need to think before they speak! So the air was a tad blue for a bit.

will finish my coffee first though. No knitting lately as it has just been so hot, hopefully you have managed to get some done.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
I totally agree re learning to engage their brain before they make stupid comments. MrP is rather good at it. Ive learnt to ignore a lot of what he says. And do things in my way anyway.
One of his pets is Telling me not to go to any fuss for dinner, make it easy on myself, then he will comment about not having what he calls proper meals...

Im going to mitre10 shortly to get a couple of plastic bins to put my hearts etc in. I don't want them squashed or flattened.
so wont be online long as Ill go to the supermarket then mitre10 which doesn't open till 10am.. then be home in time for Kirsty.

Did 6 hearts yesterday and I think 5 stockings. Still have tv to catch up on.

I have to cut the fabric and stiffening etc and iron on for more hearts so ts a prep day lol..

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2015-01-11 09:11:00
6393

popeye, thank-you for posting. you are one energetic lady!. I saw a TV programme where there were hearts hanging fronm the walls and other places-is that what these are for. You must know your market to be making so many . Fun to knit that sort of wool, are they to hang on Christmas tree?
I used to make red with white tops and more of a boot foot that were the size to stuff toe and put in pkt of life savers or a rolled up $100.00 note-( I wish) looked cute on the tree.

marywea - 2015-01-11 10:35:00
6394

Thanks Marywea. Im hoping the general trend towards home made craft stuff will pay off for me.. The hearts can be used for anything but my main aim was to hang them on cords like bunting.
I have done some plain red stockings and have decided they need a white top. So that will happen on the next lot.

Ive just spent 1.5 hours this morning while watching Kirsty Allsop, cutting squares from fabric and stiffening. I have to iron the stiffening on then cut around the edges with the pinking shears.
Then its the sewing and stuffing etc.. A few steps but I find it easy to do all the same step at the same time.
Must come from working in sewing factories and being able to do piece work.

They can be hung on the Christmas tree and along fire places or book cases etc too.

Im methodical so I don't mind doing things over and over again.

But my plan this year is to do the hearts and stockings for a month. Then do a mistletoe Mouse every second month as I have orders for two sets.
Plus I also do blankets for charity which I will do in the cooler months.

And I belong to CMA and am making stuff for their stalls in the spare time I get.

I have a stuffed back so tend to sit a lot , so I make sure my sitting time is usefull as well

Lol Dilligaf at the Stitch in 9 hehehe...

Have sorted the containers out.. Is it bad that I now have a low container of hearts and stockings under my bed lol? I've done 32 hearts and 41 stockings as of this morning.

Ive now ironed the stiffening on and drawn the hearts on 24 more I think it was. Will sit and cut tonight.. A lot of work but I enjoy doing it.

Ohh Carole lol... I gather you would know off hand what stiffening is a meter to buy? Theres a seller on here selling 3 meters for $6-50.. its a meter wide. Its soo long since I brought any, I haven't a clue at what price it is.. Is that a good buy?
