Mine brings in Mice... record 4 in a 1 night. In the early days we used to get up and sort it out. Now we roll over and get up to the dead bodies in the morning.... ewwww.
The worst one was the one he brought into our bedroom and it ran behind our chest of drawers and we couldn't find it.... and unbeknownst to us.... died... The smell 5 days later was indescribably bad........

Julie, you are a true angel, we have always known that. I am getting back on my feet and have made plans. My doctor told me that was the most important thing to do. I am working full time so it is difficult to meet up just at the moment. Your books listed are always interesting so I will buy one some day and make contact. Just all a bit overwhelming at the moment to try and make any kind of plan. Thanks so much and please know I WILL take you up on the offer. Erica

Good morning everyone,
I've just been over in Golden Bay. Miss 16 was performing with the local Teentheatre group in a musical comedy called Friday Knight Fever.
It was very very funny & I have to say those modern day teens really suited the flares, piping, beading, satin & paisley!!!
It sure brought back memories lol ;)
I hope everyone's well and staying warm .... it's feeling very wintery out there today.

Seeing the post re whitebait I could cry- builder doing our eqc repairs disconnected the power without telling us even though he knew we had two freezers in the garage. When we discovered this last week and cleaned them out the contents included 9 5oogm bags West Coast whitebait, nearly half a beast, various lamb and mutton cuts and the usual veg, bread etc. Builder's reply (wouldn't take my calls for 24 hours and eventually answered when I used another phone from which he wouldn't have recognised the numbers) 'ok well as a gesture of goodwill I will give you a $200 grocery voucher'. Pfft! This whole repair process has been a nightmare every step of the way and doesn't show any signs of improving.
I know this is recipes but within this long-running thread wondering if any other Chch people who contribute here are experiencing the same? I know that there is a Chch forum but I feel 'more at home' here so hope it's okay to post 'non-recipe'. Cheers

Yes Cooks what a cheek indeed. I have spoken with my ins co and they agree that it's all on him including the excess. Now he's hedging around not wanting to tell me who is his ins co is! He has wanted to do everything on the cheap and cut corners and I mean everything. I must say that my Fletcher's man has been very good and very fair bringing the builder into line a few times when I have emailed or spoken with him- an Irishman who told me right at the beginning that he would 'see things right as it is my home' and so far he has kept his word. Just a pity that it always has to be after a struggle with the builder. Thanks for your replies and support. I'm fine but I am really feeling for those who aren't able to speak out and the stories I am hearing about older people being coerced into signing off when the job isn't complete are appalling. Stay warm.

Thanks for your replies. Yes insurance co will track him down- he still wont tell me who he is insured with. Called in to check on progress this afternoon and when I stood in my bedroom doorway I didn't know whether to laugh or cry- the wallpaper has been hung upside down! Then I discovered that the bathroom has been painted but only the walls so we now have 'half eastbourne' on the walls and a bright yellow ceiling which is clearly from another era. The joins in the lounge wallpaper are quite pronounced and there are many bubbles. I feel a big week coming on.
Ellie hope you're ok- take care. Julie nice to have your kids home. Hope Napier treated you to the weather we've had over the weekend- 18 degrees at 3.30pm. My friend in Queenstown said she was out in her garden today and kept thinking 'this isn't right the ground should be frozen at this time of year. Have a good week- warm and shake-free.

Dare I say things seem a bit quieter around the top of the south?
I've enjoyed a couple of good sleeps anyway ... though maybe I was just too tired to be worried any more.
Nelson is looking pretty with daffodils & blossom every where you turn. I've had a lovely walk along the river & am feeling relaxed.
