Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies and oldbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for oldbies and newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions.

No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again.

Found this $1 the other week at work https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/384021977.jpg

This is also on struck with a faulty die that is one of the hardest faults to find on 2010 $1 ( listed here as 2010/8 http://wp.me/P4A88C-e )

Looks as though everyone is busy, so I guess that is good news.

I've been frantically checking my survival gear. I wasn't aware the sky could fall in and now I'm in a panic.

Was looking forward to my Chicken Little dinner tonight but no time now.

It's an old and very bad joke with no truth in it at all. Line up three pennies, a George VI or Elizabeth one, a Vic OH, Edward or George V one, and a Bun Head one, and ask if anyone's seen a Honolulu penny. Then point to them all in sequence - "On this one the trident's resting on her knee, on this one it's on her thigh, and on this one it's Honolulu." I take no responsibility.

And face it, if there had been any objections, the coins would have been withdrawn sooner, rather than being minted for 34 years or so with the same design.

I don't know nothing about objections to the design, but I definitely object to that joke. Now just give me a minute to find one of each of those pennies....

Hadn't heard that one before!

I have to admit I found it a little suspect precisely for that reason, 34 years is a long time.

Something else I saw only recently: "A chemist in England in advertising his new remedy said it touched the spot like Britannia’s trident" - with reference to the "Bun" penny.

We'd need to know where it was from - NZ didn't make 2c coins in 1927. Are you sure it's not 1967, 1977 or 1987? Does it have George V on the front (1927) or Elizabeth II (later dates)?

If it is a 1977 2c piece ,it won't pay the Specsavers bill

892075108 including a 1949 NZ crown, but apparently ok as a reproduction coin?
Start the printing press for the forged $NZ notes and when Police arrive, just tell them they are reproduction notes and not counterfeit at all.

An employee at the Uni Post Shop in Dunedin initially thought they were all out of rolls of the circulating ANZAC commemorative, but it turns out they had more. Anyone finding shops actually having none available?

Yes, exactly. That's the irony in the title selected by whoever made these knockoffs.

This is a very resent purchase a Belgian 50 centimes bullion vale about $1.30 but a catalogue value of around $150.00 even in this condition, as only 200,000 minted.

I personally find a lot more errors on $1 then on the $2 coins but that maybe because I like to look for $1 faults more than anything else lol

Found this one the other day that i do not think anyone has submitted yet to the website (but I am a few weeks behind on loading photos)

I was lucky enough to get some 2014 10 & 20 cent coins recently and have found that the dies have been recut to show more detail. This is most obvious on the 20 cent coin image of Pukaki http://wp.me/P4A88C-1Xz

At closer inspection the Obverse of all coins 2014 10&20c and the 2015 Anzac 50c coins have all had a small upgrade with the lettering showing bigger including the IRB

This thread - in German - says there are two versions, one in .750 gold, and another in .925 silver and coated in 22ct gold. Unless there's any certification with it, they could be difficult to tell apart without knowing the respective weights.
