I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

kiwimade, when I told my son what the quote was to paint your house, he said "is that the inside and the outside" - I said I wasn't sure, but his comment was "that's a deposit on a house". I said I can remember when you'd buy 3 houses for that price (made me feel very old!)

Have just started another zigzag blanket in "marble", but it looks as though this particular colour is mainly white with just a small amount of colouring so not sure if I will like it so much.

Here's a pic of the one I've just finished, also in "marble" but quite colourful.

http://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/350825043.jpg

and the pink and white "mile a minute" one which seems to have taken me forever, mind you it's a lot bigger than the ones I normally do.

Knit and natter this morning, then I suppose I will have to do some gardening as it has stopped raining - the weeds should pull out easier now the ground is wet.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Love the blankets Kuaka both sooo Pretty.

I don't plan on doing anything today.. lol like that will work. I might do a bow knot scarf for CMA tho.

Had a lovely Christmas morning tea yesterday. It was done well, I don't know who made the sponge drops but I reckon they were lighter than the whipped cream in them.

Its humid here already, going to rain later apparently.. Windows are wide open tho cos its not soo windy now Yayay

Have a good day every one

that was just the outside kuaka, including the garage, pump shed (which is tiny, just big enough to take a water pump) and all the roves. We've had others make the same comment when we tell them the quote lol, even my dad asked and he's a master painter!

Your blankets are just lovely kuaka, gorgeous colours. I haven't tried the mile a minute blanket yet, it's on the 'to-do' list.

Yummmm sponge drops, I used to be able to make a nice sponge, my nana taught me :) I even have the bowl we used when I was a child to mix them in. it's a very old Temuka pottery one and omg I use it a lot.

Right, back to the grind, wallpaper won't fall off by itself.

morning ladies :) I finished the wee matinee jacket and now need buttons. You would think with I would have some in my button jar that would fit but no. Also need some wooden toggles or big blue buttons as I've had an idea for outdoor cushions for when MrK builds my arbour. Well, it's something I saw on the internet I want to have a go at so not truly my idea.

Lovely and rainy here, perfect for wallpaper stripping although I would rather have needles in my hands instead of scrapers and a putty knife.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
I haven'tlooked outside yet but its humid enough to know its wet out there.

Finished the scarf yesterday and started a top down dress. Its in orange lemon and white varegated. So pretty.

Wh

Shopping this morning and posting Jo's mice.

MrP said there's nothing under the christmas tree for me. He felt bad. I said don't fret Spotlight will have a sale either boxing day or new years. I'll get something then, he was happy then.

morning ladies :) Finished stripping the wallpaper in the hallway yesterday and knitted a wee hat and one bootee to match the matinee jacket.

Today my nephew is coming to help MrK with some of the heavier work like taking the garage guttering down and dig a couple of soak holes and a friend with a bobcat is coming to dig out three trees for us. I'm going to start stripping the living room wallpaper. It's heavily embossed and painted over and a b**** of a job to do. Will take the old curtains down and wash them ready for the Sallies. We've ordered and paid a deposit on the carpet, the last thing to go in paid for first lol. It's all go round here!

Am hoping I can get the other bootee knitted today so I can post everything off.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone. Oh kiwimade its going to be all so new soon.

I'm not feeling so flash this morning. Hope it just goes away.

Have to pop up the road then back to my needles. Should finish the we top down dress. When I chose the wool I knew id make a top down with it and its looking how I imagined it would.

Take care everyone Have a good day

Morning ladies, well I felt lousy yesterday, no idea why, just lethargic and generally off colour (like a dying duck in a thunderstorm as my old Mum would say). Feel a bit better today, which is good as I'm planning on going to Kerikeri to do a big grocery shop (was going yesterday but the weather and the way I was feeling stopped me - actually had a nap yesterday afternoon, went out like a light on the spare bed and when I came to I couldn't think where I was or why I was there, but I did feel a bit better afterwards)

Hope popeye and carolev soon feel better.

I'm making good progress with my next little "mile a minute" blanket. It's not so big so isn't taking as long - it will be a charity one.

Then have to decide what to do next. I'm itching to do another Deramore's order but daren't yet awhile. Might see if some of the other ladies at knit and natter would like to do a joint order so we can save on postage but not have to buy so much. I spoke to a couple of them about it and they thought it was a good idea. Something to think about in the new year.

Have fun everyone.

morning ladies :) I've finished the matinee jacket, beanie and booties and another friend is picking them up Sunday afternoon as she will be visiting baby and family. So I'll find a pretty bag to pop it into :) Will take a photo later and post it.

We got so much more done with my nephew helping yesterday. Was great! Paddock is all cleaned up for the new owner, chook shed demolished etc. And he helped me with the heavier lifting. Another tree is coming down tomorrow, so that will be nine over the past 18 months pulled out. I'll help MrK with that one, he used to work for the forestry in his younger days so knows how to fell trees.

Back to wallpaper stripping after we have been shopping for living room lights and a few more Christmas presents and knitting this afternoon.

Hopefully my Deramores order will arrive soon as I have ordered some red wool to knit our grandy a cable jumper (her mum's request :) ). The postie loves delivering our parcels as she delivers to the door and gets greeted by The Furry One who demands fuss and attention as payment for letting her in the gate. Of course she obliges lol and it makes her run a bit late!

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone

Amazing what an extra pair of hands can do to help eh Kiwimade.

Tis warm here, not a breath of wind.

Ive got a couple of rows to do on a cushion cover I started yesterday. Will back it with Calico and that can go in the CMA crate that Im going to store things.

Plan of action today is to tidy my office.. Its a bomb sight in there. Since I had to take stuff out of the wardrobe to get at the Christmas decorations.

So Ill put some music on and it shouldn't take much more than an hour I should think. And hopefully Ill "find" my next project to do.. I have some photo copying of patterns to put into folders too.

Lol at the Furry One greeting the Postie, Little terriers love the attention eh.

Kuaka I hope you are feeling better today.. Hows the Pippa one settling in?

Have a good day everyone

Well - grrr - having done a big shop at Countdown yesterday - $270 - I got a text last night saying that if I had shopped today or tomorrow and spent over $200 I would have got a 20c a litre fuel voucher, and if over $300 would have been a 30c a litre fuel voucher. How annoying is that? Console myself with the fact that the vouchers are only valid for a month, and I probably won't need to fill up either vehicle in the next few weeks as we won't be going anywhere except 1km into town.

I don't know what to knit next, might do a couple of toys of some sort, seeing all the photos of the lovely ones popeye does makes me think it's time to do a few more myself.

Hope everyone is well and will have a good day.

Oh that is annoying Kuaka...

We are lucky if we use $10 a week in petrol, unless we leave town. Then if its to Pukekohe we only put $10 in, to Manukau or further its $25.

So not big users either

Yes time to do something for you. My cardy is on the back burner. Although I should finish the back to get that off the needles.

Right time for some music and brave the office lol

morning ladies :) I fell asleep early too on the couch lol and so did MrK. I guess all this physical work caught up to me. It's a good kind of tired though if that makes sense.

My wee matinee jacket set is being picked up this afternoon. I have taken a photo and will upload it when I have new batteries in the camera.

Bucketing down here today so no lawns being mowed or gutters being taken down. Thank goodness our skip bin is pretty much full.

Housework this morning and craft work this afternoon.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone..
Apparently we have had a lot of rain over night. I don't hear it. But its sure wet out there. And I have to nip up the road in it lol.

Kept waking up through the night with the recipe for Ambrosia on my mind and the Christmas song, I think wings did it, Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas time on my brain.. Blardy annoying lol.

I finally finished the back of my cardy last night. not sure what I will start today. But Ill be watching Kirsty Alssop for ideas this morning..

Nice when you feel tired but know you have achieved a lot eh Kiwimade.

Perfect weather for crafting today.

Have a good day everyone

Rained most of yesterday evening and most of the night too, I didn't sleep, was still tossing and turning at 4.30, kept reading for a while, putting the light out and trying to sleep, then reading a while longer. This morning I feel half dead and my eyes are all sore and irritated - no wonder!

Still haven't done the curtain or lining for my son, so might try to get that done today. He did say he was coming up this way this weekend and would call in with some fresh snapper on his way home, but I haven't heard from him, so he's probably stayed home.

Finished my mile a minute blanket last night - now what to do???

Decided not to order from Deramore's as silly me looked at Skeinz website yesterday afternoon and oops, before you know it, I've bought $90 odd worth of merino so Deramore's will have to wait. Mind you, it's good to support local businesses.
Hope everyone is safe and well.

Morning
It's winter again brrrrrr!
Just back from 3very busy but enjoyable days in Wellington. Niece graduation for a PhD in History so very proud as she has worked so hard for what seems like ages. Then looking after small "greats" ( 2 different families ) but not at the same time fortunately - all great fun but oh boy I'm rather tired today. Got all of two rows of knitting done will away.

You all seem to have been productive and busy over past week. I agree Kuaka re Skeinz and they have some great bargains if you want wool. They seem to be getting new varieties in a lot more lately too.

Have a very relaxing day everyone

Oops Sorry Carole, I meant to let you know the parcel arrived yesterday.. Thank you sooo much.

Its horrible when you have a hugely disturbed sleep.

I took the zip out of the old cushion cover, from the one I got to put in the purple cushion I made. And then decided to have a play with some beads. Just had a nice design laid out and Missy needed to see mummy urgently. Trying to get onto my lap, under the tray table.
Thankfully I had laid them out in a tray but I couldn't be bothered trying to lay them out again. So that was the end of my beading lol And I had to mop up the blood lol. Grr warfarin.

So now I have to think about what Ill start next

That's awesome Skippie.. the Magic Square or mitred square Blanket? Is that the one where you start and it all works together. No joining of squares?
Mum did one like that ohh I guess 7-8 years ago. I have it now. As she wanted it to be looked after. Cos she said would never do another lol

And welcome...

Ive been pottering in the kitchen and freezers in the garage to make room for the sheep that will arrive some time after Tuesday.. Yummmmmm

Thanks for the positive feed back. Yes popeye, that's the one, the magic square blanket. Made the square in the coloured blanket slightly smaller. The first blanket was out of homespun wool and love that one too, that was made according to pattern. Both very different but love them.

morning :) More wallpaper stripping today, have just taken the curtains down in the living room and feeling a tad exposed lol. Oh well, country living so no houses too close. Am going to start stripping where the Christmas tree is going then the tree can go up (when I buy it, am so slack this Christmas). Curtains can go through the wash and be donated to the Sallies. If they shrink, well, they still might fit someone's windows. Previous owner was a smoker so they are just awful but should wash up fine.

Then knitting or something this afternoon.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-12-15 07:33:00
6232

Morning everyone.
A busy day for you Kiwimade. I enjoy stripping wallpaper..

Id like to do some washing today but it doesn't look great out there. Yesterday a couple of handy washing machine repairmen on here told me what to check on the dryer, to see if I can get it going again. Will be a lot cheaper than buying a new one. But we will look at that after Christmas cos I have meat to pay for tomorrow. Yum home grown hogget.. Cant wait.

I didn't do any craft yesterday. I couldn't decide what I wanted to do. Looked through some patterns and nothing jumped out at me. MrP reckons I need a break. Maybe I've over done myself. He doesn't seem to understand my need of having something in my hands to do. I shall sit in the office until something jumps out at me lol

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-12-15 07:43:00
6233

Morning
The blanket is really great Skippie.

Hope something "jumps" soon Popeye, I've been very slack on the crafts this past week due to doing other things but have something on the needles to pick up when I have a bit of spare time.

Was very cold and wet yesterday so hope it is going to warm up again today although like you Popeye it isn't looking like being a good day for washing.

Curtains are always welcome Kiwimade as they help insulate houses but quite expensive if on a very tight budget.

Off to Skeinz soon to get wool for a doll's outfit for a Christmas present - hope I don't see too many bargains while there lol.

have a good day all

jayemtoo - 2014-12-15 10:39:00
6234

I was going to throw them out jayemtoo but a friend suggested the Sallies. They aren't flash but will do in a pinch and at least they smell nicer now.

Our living room and garage is dotted with patches of paint lol. Seeing the colours we have chosen really brings it home and yes, we love our choices.

Am going to finish stripping this wall, clean up and then knit. I'm in popeye's predicament, don't know what to knit next!

kiwimade64 - 2014-12-15 12:52:00

Ive started one of the fronts on my cardy... Nothing jumped out at me.. So I figured that meant I had to get to work on my cardy lol.

morning ladies :) lol carole, not much to see!

hahaha winnie, I think there have been lots of 'warnings' in this thread about Deramores, so easy to buy online isn't it.

Lots to do today and somehow I don't think I will be knitting. Have to go back to Bunnings, the extension rod I bought for the window steamer has some parts missing. Also have to return some bobbins as I bought the wrong ones and groceries. And we have decided seeing as we are well under our budget for lights to replace the light in the hallway. Gotta love the Christmas sales, perfect time for renovations.

Hopefully my deramores order will arrive today (you are not alone winnie lol) as I have ordered a lovely knitting bag. Couldn't find what I wanted here or at Spotlight and haven't time to sew one. Might be time to part with my eco supermarket bag :P.

Hope everyone has a fab day, happy knitting :)

Well it's wild, wet and windy here, and not particularly tropical (I put the heat pump on this morning when I got up). Mr K said he thought it was warm, but it was only 17 degrees in the lounge and that's not enough if you're just sitting around as he is most of the day.

I have to go out later, it's our end of year lunch for the group I usually play mah jong with on a Tuesday afternoon. We are starting at midday instead of 1.30 but I won't stay to play as it's Mr Ks birthday, and it seems a bit mean to leave him on his own all afternoon. Yesterday I made choc eclairs and meringues to take, just have to fill them with cream - I iced the eclairs last night. Hope I last the distance, I've been awake since 3.30.

Right time for breakfast.

Have a super day everyone.

Lol Winnie, you wont be disappointed with your order Im sure. I always put a warning when I tell people about the website lol.

Not good that you had parts missing Kiwimade. Can be annoying eh when your ready to work and something like that hampers the progress.

Happy Birthday to MrK Kuaka, I agree it probably wouldn't be too kind to be away for most of the day.
Says she who has already looked and discovered that my birthday falls on a Tuesday. So Ill be at CMA for half mine lol

Did quite a bit on the front of my cardy. so Im pleased. I put Christmas music on and sung away while I knitted.

Missy seems to have gone through her stage of tapping my knitting needles and sometimes trying to play with the wool. I can knit quite happily now with her on my knee.. she didn't do it for long

Have a good day everyone

I bought the black pleated one from Deramores kuaka and it arrived today. Thank you MrK lol for my Christmas pressie! So clever picking out exactly what I wanted lol. It's nice and deep and has two pockets inside the bag and zips up so no nosey four legged Furry One can get into it.

I'm going to have a late lunch then go and mow the lawns. The weather tomorrow is meant to turn nasty and lawns need doing. MrK is tuckered out from all the work we've been doing over the past couple of weeks and is sound asleep.

Happy birthday to MrKuaka :)

Happy knitting :)

morning ladies :) What a wild day here with huge winds. Perfect for knitting but we are having lunch with MrK's sisters today. Have accepted the quote for curtains and paid the deposit. Very happy and well under what I thought it would cost. So we are using what is left of the curtain budget to have a new garage door installed. MrK is a happy man lol.

I've started knitting Maddy a jumper for winter, bright red with a small rolled neckline and faux cables on the front and three buttons on the shoulder. Should be nice and cheerful for winter and with cables, nice and warm too.

Better move, I'll finish this coffee then wrap the Christmas pressies we are giving today.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Its wild and windy here, but still no rain as yet.
Yes winnie I think the prices are excellent.. I too like James C Brett yarn. I do a lot of toys and blankets so that's perfect for them. And Im happy to pay $10 to get stuff sent from England. And often its faster than the post in NZ.

Ohh I bet MrK is happy with a new door Kiwimade is it an automatic one?

I love wrapping pressies.. but mine are don't.

I got up early and put the coffee and bread on that I got ready last night. So the bread has just started baking. smells good in here.

Im to the armhole on my front... Ohh I love red and Cables so Maddys jumper will be lovely.

Im going to try baking these shortbread Christmas trees today. Thankfully MrP will eat them even if they do fail lol.

Have an awesome day everyone

Well I managed to stay awake yesterday for the lunch, but had to admit defeat when I got home, and had a brief nap - not sure if I actually slept, but I certainly dozed. So then spent the afternoon with Mr K, had tea and pud and then a friend called to help celebrate. Mr K was up later than usual but headed straight to bed after our friend departed. I struggled valiantly on but woke in my armchair at 9.15 with the laptop still perched on my lap! Gave in and was in bed at 9.30, and slept till 7.30 with just a brief pitstop at 3.30. Would be good if I could say I felt better for the long sleep but not sure I did.

Noticed this morning that puss' left eye was only half open, so phoned the vet and took her in this afternoon. She put some local anaesthetic in, some dye to see if there was any damage, and then some drops, also gave her a check over, 'flu jab and worm tablet, and that was the best part of $100 (well $90 anyway). Thankfully doesn't appear to be any damage to her eye. I have to give her drops for the next five days. Vet commented that she didn't expect to see me again as I'd said I had a "no replacement policy" on pets! Ha - a house is not a home without a cat.

So not a lot of knitting done today, although I did go to knit and natter - the last for this year.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

morning ladies :) Yes popeye, I think an automatic opener gadget is part of the deal. MrK is organising it.

Back to stripping wallpaper today, want to get where the Christmas tree is going done. I feel so slack at not having it up but it would only have been in the way and be decorated with bits of torn wallpaper lol. Now that would be a sight!

have a quick trip (if that is possible in town now) into town this morning then back at the wallpaper.

The Furry One played with the 'big boys' yesterday when we were visiting MrK's sisters. He wasn't quite sure of these two big dogs towering over him at first but soon joined in the fun. He was knackered when we got home :). I had forgotten how much I enjoyed having big dogs (ssshhhh don't tell the Furry One lol) but omg they take up space lol.

Almost finished the back to Maddy's jumper, only reverse stocking stitch at this stage so quick and easy to do.

happy knitting :)
