I couldn't cope with 5 days away from home. My cats would move out for a start without us to tend to their every wish. LOL. I'm teaching myself how to do a different sort of blanket which is using up all the small bits of wools left over from other things. When I get a bit more done I'll take a photo to show you as it's a bit hard to describe. Watch this space.

So would anybody be able to tell me about toyota 2440 sewing machine, if it is a good machine or if I should stay away from it? Auction on trade me and I have not bidded yet, (#757507626). I want to but am so unsure about this sort of thing.

6203

Sorry twinkle star I don't know about that machine. I have a Janome.

Still waiting for my girl. She just left work. They were understaffed again and she is shattered. I'm sleeping in tomorrow. Lol

We had a great weekend, went out to dinner again last night with friends. Our shout as this couple have had us over for dinner a few times and then we can never organise a return meal and he has been helping I. with the welding on the bike trailer he's building for this summer. I get to paint it when it's all together. LOL. Four hour meeting today on the 4th floor of a building that shakes non-stop! And have to take a lift to get up there! My stomach churns just thinking about it. And it's not as if I don't have lots of other stuff to organise with the AGM tomorrow night either. Roll on Wednesday!

grizzly4 - 2014-07-28 06:29:00
6206

Omg don't think I could cope with that building. Had a lazy day whoop whoop. Slept in until 8 went to the gym, then Warehouse, the Library, paid registration for my wee dog, came home with Sushi for lunch, then cleaned the inside of the car. I will do the outside tomorrow. Just came in from having Roast Lamb at my daughters . Sil off tomorrow. My Dil and youngest grandchild are staying over at my daughters. House full of laughter when I left. Going to crochet and watch a movie now.

makerealbany - 2014-07-28 20:03:00

The 'house full of laughter' sounds lovely. I assume the crochet is the blanket?

This is how far I've got on my blanket after 3 evenings. LOL. It won't be a big one the way I'm going. Probably 5 x 6 squares then I have to fill in the triangles along the sides and do the border. When I saw this blanket years ago it was done with my larger squares and the women were making them for double beds. Phew! Oh well, fun doing something a little different now and then.

grizzly4 - 2014-07-29 06:40:00
6209

That does look good. Yes I'm still on the blanket. Daughter went to court today. They did not go only their solicitor. Talk about arrogant. Anyway Judge says if it is not settled soon we go back to court. Our lawyers said that was positive. Duh. My back is giving me hell today. Gym yesterday. I keep wondering if I'm doing myself more injuries by going. Know I've said that before. I'll decide if I quit going by the end of the week. Going to sit and work on that darn bkanket.

makerealbany - 2014-07-29 18:55:00
6210

Mmmm, I think this blanket I'm doing is going to take longer than I thought. LOL. I'd better do some bootees or something as well this week so I have something to take into the shop on Monday. Can't see the blanket being done by then. I'm a bit knackered today, last 2 days have been full on with 1 meeting after another finishing with AGM last night. After the Women's group this morning I will be able to do some desk work for a couple of days I hope, although I'm juggling staff again with one leaving last week for full time work after only being with us 8 weeks and a committee member resigning yesterday without warning. Sigh. My daughter is booked for surgery finally for the 12th. 4 tumours to be removed from her bowel this time. Apparently non- malignant but tests being done after to make sure.

grizzly4 - 2014-07-30 06:51:00
6211

My goodness life is full on isn't it. My Dil and granddaughter have stayed with my youngest daughter for a few days so it has been full on here at home. I'm still feeling drained but can't help it. My Dil was not at all well. She's a lovely girl but needed help with E2 . She can't lift her. Anyway I have to be picking up children early tomorrow. J3 has another virus sigh. I am going to get my stuff ready for the morning, fold up the washing I have in the drier and relax watching TV for an hour, then a shower, then bed lol. I hope your girl will recover quickly. My Dil.s Dad had his bowel removed yesterday and that with her being ill the poor girl was a mess. My useless son is away of course.

makerealbany - 2014-07-30 20:28:00
6212

Families, who'd have 'em, eh? LOL. And we wouldn't change a thing about deciding to have them in the first place, either. I text my lot last night and said no meals on offer this weekend as I'm spending Saturday in the garden before the weather changes on Sunday. I have trees needing trimming and a vege garden to weed. Please note none of them offered to help or cook us tea either. LOL. I couldn't put the blanket down last night to do something else, it's become a bit of an obsession.

grizzly4 - 2014-07-31 06:35:00
6213

After an early start dropping K to school, then minding J for awhile I came home and slept all day. So many things going on. Two grandsons in different towns made redundant. Daughter checking process of both lol. Sick friends, operations, rest homes , etc, etc. Mum over the latest crisis. Lasted 24 hours. I'm used to being told she is in a bad way. Then she is talking away nonstop to me ha ha. Anyway it's blanket time for me too. It's noooot an obsession with me lol. More like a big rock ha ha

makerealbany - 2014-07-31 19:04:00
6214

I almost thought I had all the panels done then decided to add another row for more length. LOL. Then I have to do the triangles round the sides.... the I have to do the border......At least I've been sewing the ends in every morning after the evenings knitting. Doing them all at once would have put me over the edge I think. It's so warm here the last couple of days, I was out in the garden at 7.30 yesterday morning, I filled our green bin with trimmings and weeds, didn't want it collected without being worth it. (Even if it is free). LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-01 06:55:00
6215

So hard to get up this morning, I feel like I've been coughing for hours. Struggled to get my asthma under control yesterday afternoon and during the night. Typical during a nor'west wind. It will have to get over itself today because I'm determined to get on with things in the garden today while it's still fine. LOL. My daughter is really struggling these days, I'm hoping once surgery happens she will feel more on top of things but at present she is meds for panic attacks and seeing a counsellor once or twice a week. Not like her at all but I guess that's what happens to a control freak like her when things happen that she can't control. I really feel for her after everything she's been through. She's always been a force to be reckoned with, charging through life, taking on anything and now she's not. That is she was a force everywhere except at home where someone else did all the controlling. So complicated these situations. I've read the 50 Shades of Grey series and a few others along the same lines and have a real concern for the young women reading them that they start believing that to have a controlling partner is the prize catch. Very scary message to be giving out!

grizzly4 - 2014-08-02 07:08:00
6216

Yes it is a very scary message. We are in the middle of a huge family crisis and everyone is worn out with it all. I'm exhausted and have absolutely no control of the situation. Daughters and son also worn out. Not sure what the outcome will be but not hopeful there will be a solution anytime soon. Take care of your girl as much as you can.

makerealbany - 2014-08-02 21:20:00
6217

Hard times for you all, again. I am so sorry to hear that. S came over with B6 yesterday and washed her car while we finished off in the garden. Took B6 for his first trip to the refuse centre with our green waste. LOL. and then we all went to McDonalds for an early tea. Had a few laughs during the day and she seemed quite relaxed by the time she left. Taking B for a fluffy this morning so S can go to the gym for an hour.
The main panels on my blanket are done, and half way round with the triangles. I have bought navy to do the border. Would love to get it done today. Take care of yourself, I'm thinking of you.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-03 09:02:00
6218

Blanket all finished but what a mission doing the border on a circular needle that kept coming apart! Had to get the glue gun out twice just to finish it.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-04 06:43:00
6219

You are so fast with your blanket. I haven't even looked at mine. Maybe tonight. Just finished cleaning A's house as she was at work. It was a shambles after the horrid weekend and I was minding 3 children in it lol. Going up to the beach tonight. Decided to quit the gym and go for long walks instead. Too many injuries and walking will clear my head ha ha. Watching the weather as washing out and it looks like rain. Got an auction I won. Took ages to come and when I finally got it she had sent it to 20 instead of 70 so it was returned and she had to send it again. I sent an email after awhile, no reply. Then I sent one thanking her for resending, still no reply. Makes you wonder about some traders. I had better get on with sorting stuff to take, including my blanket. Maybe wishful thinking but should be ok tonight. Kids so love to go to the Refuse Centre or Organic Centre .

After all the work getting the blanket ready for shop for yesterday, I ended up with some tummy bug and stayed home yesterday. Very frustrating and such a waste of a day. I hope things are improving for you, makerealbany.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-05 07:11:00
6221

Tummy bugs are horrid. Got phone calls so no work on the blanket grrrr. Weather is playing up here so after running in and out, have turned the drier on lol. Little steps is what we are all taking at the moment. Youngest son and partner have split up and the issues are overwhelming. I can't get my head around it all. Depression can be a killer of many things. Those you think are strong fold and all hell breaks loose. I just keep busy until the next phone call. It's cold here today as well. Time for a cuppa I think. I seem to be drinking gallons of coffee. Grrrr. Might have tea instead.

makerealbany - 2014-08-05 12:58:00

Maybe a tipple of something stronger maybe? Very sad for your family to be going through this. I was very happy when daughter S. left her husband but 3 months on it's taken it's toll on her despite having made the right decision to protect her personal safety and provide a more balanced life for her son. Ex is bi-polar with some complicated sleep condition plus he and his 3 brothers are all on the autistic spectrum at various levels. She stayed with him for 12 years! He self medicates to sleep but refuses to see a doctor for professional treatment because of his experiences as a suicidal teenager. He's 40 now and I can't see anything changing. I blame his parents as each time he was hospitalised they discharged him saying there was nothing wrong and he would get over it. Because of the genetic stuff I have concerns for B6's future but it's hard to tell at this stage what might be learned behaviour from what he has seen the last 6 years and what could be something else. Probably both. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-06 07:10:00
6223

I wonder if you can divorce your family at times lol. Had a lazy birthday fending calls, minding K as he has a virus, reading all the lovely texts and messages from family and friends. Pressies are nice too. You are right it is hard to tell what is genetic and what is learned at times as far as children go. One little girl I know as not diagnosed until she was 7. Earlier I wondered about her. Very sad. Poor little K just woke up again. High temps so have to keep an eye on him. The problem with break ups is the constant mind changing of the decisions one takes. She wants it to be amicable then while he's overseas she freezes the bank accounts. Not even caring how he will get on without being able to use his credit card. Honestly it's hard to believe. I'm trying not to think about it tonight.

makerealbany - 2014-08-06 22:50:00
6224

Happy Birthday for yesterday! You kept that quiet. LOL. Daughter S's birthday is tomorrow. She is dropping B6 off to me at work after school as she has to work late tonight. He is staying over tomorrow night while she goes out with friends for her birthday. He will enjoy seeing L7 and B9 today as they are on our after school programme as well. I have a number of sheep (can you believe it?) and tiny teddy's that I bought ages ago and I'm knitting wee jerseys for them before I put them in the shop. How's the blanket coming? Just think of the day you'll be able to say it's finished! LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-07 07:09:00

Took B6 to buy a card for his Mum last night. He insisted on a Tinkerbell one with an inflatable wand! Very cute. He had bought a charm for her phone last weekend. Couldn't wait till today to give them to her LOL especially as we gave her our present last night. This is the first time EVER B has given his Mum a present! His Dad never gave her a present over 12 years so never thought to organise something for B to give her.
Went to the Doctor yesterday to renew prescriptions to find my blood pressure is up a bit. Talked about work stuff a bit (she was my ex- manager's doctor as well) and mentioned S's surgery coming up and the her recent separation. She looked absolutely stunned when I told her what had been going on and I was so angry with her. She has been our doctor since S was 3! and I have mentioned my worries about her situation often when things were at their worst for her and it coincided with an appointment. She has been S's family doctor for at 6 years as well so she saw the husband and B. And she was none the wiser or it was just too hard!

grizzly4 - 2014-08-08 07:02:00

My Daughter T is 46 today. She is very I'll again. Hope it's not swine flu. K5 was sick with high temps. Etc for two days. I put him into my bed because I had to give him Panadol every 4 hours. He was burning up all night. I dozed off and on. Having him close was safer. His fever broke this morning so he seems much better but is coughing now. He was so miserable buthe did keep drinking lots of water. T came home from work last night coughing. She said they have Swine Flu cases. I am crossing my fingers I don't get sick. Very tired physically and mentally ha ha.
What a lousy husband he was. Not teaching his son about showing appreciation on his mothers birthday. K wrote in his card himself and he didn't ask me about the spelling either. He is extremely bright. My daughter was thrilled. I got a Bamboo plant in a pot ( the curly species) . We hid the plant and the card in the spare room. He dashed in this morning and ran singing to his Mum. 30 mins later he was looking exhausted again. K loves to give pressies. Lol. It does not surprise me about your GP. I swear half of them do not listen. I am lucky with mine.

makerealbany - 2014-08-08 23:19:00
6227

That's scary about the Swine 'flu being about again. I haven't heard it mentioned for ages. B has a good time here over night. Took him out for tea and he chose a special cake to bring home for pudding. LOL. Then shared ours as well! I see his Mum is posting messages about her night out on Facebook already so she can't be too under the weather. LOL. Mind you she's got to be careful what's in her system before surgery on Tuesday. She's allowed to do cardio training but no weights, no protein shakes etc. And she's had to come off her anti-depressants after only being on them less than 2 weeks. I thought that was a bit crazy: neither doctor not considering the effects of the that. Not listening to all the information being given again, I guess.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-09 09:17:00
6228

That is crazy about the meds. Idiots. Had a day at home. Minded J while his Mum took M to netball. This after I worked on the blanket. Finally lol. Son home tomorrow from overseas. Big shock in store for him. Dreading it all. T is still really sick but she has help for the day and night. I'll go back tomorrow night. Just trying to conserve what energy I have lol. Wish I was bionic. My bulbs are starting to flower but it is so cold I haven't spent any time outside unless I'm hanging washing. Bitter wind today. Had a jacket on all day . Heat pump going flat out. Heading for bed now to kiss my electric blanket lol.

makerealbany - 2014-08-09 22:12:00
6229

Things sound hard up your way at present. Good luck with your son today and I hope T is on the mend soon. I was exhausted yesterday with family over and coping with the cooking, cutting the men's hair etc, etc,etc......
I'm getting nasty stress headaches at present which don't help, I wonder if they are connected to the increase in blood pressure. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-10 09:48:00
6230

Actually felt well about an hour before going to bed last night. Weird! Seem to be ok this morning but having to really focus ion what needs to be done today. S. has been told they may have time for her surgery this afternoon so we could get a last minute call up and I need to drop everything, race across town to pick her up and then go back across in the other direction to the hospital. If we don't get the call I'm picking her up after work anyway to stay over at ours so it's only a 10 minute drive before 7am tomorrow. I think I'll bring work home as well so I can come back here during surgery and recovery to actually get something done. Tempting as it might be to park up in the café with a good book. LOL. How did things go for you yesterday with your son? And how's T?

grizzly4 - 2014-08-11 06:51:00
6231

Oh yes, craft stuff: After doing that blanket in one obsessive week I just did wee NZ jerseys etc for Teddys to put in shop this morning and a couple of pairs of baby socks. Feeling so weird some days I didn't knit for a couple of evenings and have to wonder whether that was why my fingers were so sore yesterday. Fine today after starting a fairisle baby jersey last night.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-11 06:54:00
6232

I'm still working on the blanket. Didn't do anything yesterday everyone too sick. Coughing a bit myself but otherwise ok. Darn blanket is haunting me lol. Going to have tea and get onto it. T is recovering but K has groop now after those high temps. All the washing has been a burden as they perspire all night. K is on Predisone. My son is ok. Said he was not surprised but sad. Day by day is how we will all deal with it.
There are some wild cats that used to be tame down the bush. They have driven me crazy when I stay at home. Told you a neighbour had 13 cats so she says. We all say more than that. Irresponsible cat owners drive me nuts. A couple of them went feral and are attacking her other cats. Hence the din. How's S ?

makerealbany - 2014-08-11 17:33:00
6233

S was called into hospital 7am yesterday! So by the time she called me at lunch time she was ready to be picked up to go home. There was a quake on Saturday that epicentred really close to where she lives which set off her anxiety stuff unfortunately but fortunately that meant she had a friend in the house Sunday night to get her to hospital on Monday morning without calling me. Bonus! When I dropped her home there were still huge puddles in her street where the drains had overflowed again on the Saturday night. I see there was another one last night as well, although she didn't mention it this time. She thought there were a few shakes during the afternoon but it turned out to be the machinery demolishing a house 3 doors down, shaking the ground. I think I'd feel better if she was back over this side of town. All 4 tumours were water masses, thank goodness but they are saying they aren't related to her endometriosis this time. From now on she has to have an annual scan as endo cells are pre-cancerous and now they are in her system they can attach anywhere. We worked out she has had 9 surgeries over 14 years.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-12 07:10:00
6234

Heavens the poor girl. That is an awful lot of surgeries. Yes an annual scan is a must. Went to GP today got antibiotics and normal meds. Using inhalers as well now darn it. M has high temps now. My GP said every family on their books has at lest 2 sick people. Everywhere you go someone is trying not to cough. I squeezed fresh oranges and now I am making Lemon Cordial. One drinks so much when you are sick. I am going to do about another 6 inches all around for the blanket and that is it ha ha. I'll wash it in Eucalyptus wool wash when I have finished to kill any bugs.

makerealbany - 2014-08-12 19:20:00
6235

You poor things up there! You are in a bad way bug wise. I woke S up early yesterday which gave her time for a shower before I took her to supermarket to get some food in the house. Then we went for coffee. LOL. She's doing well but still struggling being on her own, sleeping heaps but she has friends dropping in regularly, too. I. and I took takeaways round for tea with her last night, too.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-13 06:36:00
6236

Everyone still sick here. I'm tired so off to bed.

makerealbany - 2014-08-14 00:31:00
6237

I'm not surprised, it was after midnight when you signed off. LOL. I hope you are feeling better today. I didn't see S. yesterday as she had other visitors and wasn't feeling great later in the day so didn't want company. She can drive from today so hopefully that cheers her up and she has counselling as well. I found out that she had to come off anti-depressants because they prescribe tramadol after surgery and the 2 don't mix. Trouble is she doesn't react well to Tramadol anyway so didn't fill the prescription soooooooo could have stayed on meds. Grrrrr.
My mouse has died so I'm having to use the Touch Screen on my computer. A bit frustrating as I'm not used to it. LOL. Adult fingers don't fit on the icons and the screen that opens can be a bit of a surprise. LOL.
I'm still knitting the fairisle jersey. Like you very tired so not lasting the usual distance in the evenings. It's really cold, too. Coldest this winter so far. Brrrr.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-14 06:55:00
6238

I finally dozed off at 3 in the morning. Darn coughing kept me choking lol. I have hacked all day and now I have a dripping nose ahhhhhhh. Stop the planet and drop me off for awhile ha ha. I love reading Science Fiction. I use my IPad but sometimes I end up in dumb places because of my fingers. It has been cold here. It's the awful wind that rattles everything that I don't like. Trying to do the border on the blanket but too hard to concentrate.

makerealbany - 2014-08-14 22:26:00
6239

Still cold here again today. Forecast doesn't increase the temperature much for next 3 days either. Brrrr. Yesterday we had 2 heat pumps, a fan heater and a column heater going and I still wore my coat till lunch time. The hall space is a devil to warm up and yet some of the kids arrive in shirt sleeves! Insane. I'm working on the 2nd sleeve of the jersey so hopefully will have it finished tonight. Fingers crossed. I'd like to do a matching beanie and bootees over the weekend. The Purple Patch is up and running on Facebook if you want to take a peek.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-15 07:50:00
6240

Yes I'll take a look. Just stayed inside keeping all my bugs to myself today lol . Just stitching in the ends of this blanket. Hoorah.
Everyone else is improving as well. My son is coming with my grandson to my daughters tomorrow night for tea so hope I'm not coughing then. Girls are sorting out stuff for him as his ex took a hell of a lot when she left. I'm sad about it all but I think it's for the best. I'll miss seeing my little granddaughter as much as I did. She will miss her Dad and her big brother. It's so hard on the children. It's warmer tonight. It was windy all day. It's our inorganic collection on Monday so want to get things organised on Sunday. Now that we are a super city this will be the last one. Don't know what I will knit next mmmmm

makerealbany - 2014-08-15 23:27:00
6241

Love that feeling of what next. I just have to sew the jersey up now but cooking this morning for son's birthday tea at his place tonight and have a meeting this afternoon at the shop. Probably not much knitting happening today. I'm glad you are all feeling a bit better. The end of winter is the hardest, I think, we are desperate for some warm sunshine even though this winter doesn't seem as bad as it could have been. Down here anyway.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-16 06:27:00
6242

Another lovely day here if a very cold to start with. My aim today is finish a beanie, knit the bootees, put on an irish stew for tea tomorrow night, bake a fruit cake, move some of the day lily to another garden with gaps and my car desperately needs a wash again. That should pretty much get me through till bed time. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-17 10:13:00
6243

Wow another busy day for you. I'm feeling a lot better. Still coughing but not as much. My daughter is on prendizone because her cough is still really bad. J still coughing as well. It just is so hard to shift. Thank goodness I had the Flu Vacine. Got our rubbish out for the collection, went to the library and the chemist and came home and rested. No energy grrrr. Still sewing ends of blanket in. That's the problem with tiny balls of wool. Told my daughter not to volunteer my services again ha ha.

makerealbany - 2014-08-17 21:50:00
6244

I have to say I cheated with the car. Was going to take it to the car wash but I. was bemoaning the fact he'd spent his pocket money so I paid him instead to wash it and vacuum the inside. LOL. I did everything else, though and started a new matinee jacket.

Nearly forgot to show you the set I've just finished!

6246

That is cute. Had a browse at the Facebook page too. Some of those toys are lovely. Was running a bit today. Paying for it tonight lol. My car lights I had fixed two months ago are out again. Grrrr. If it's not one thing it's another. Doing the school run in the morning then I'm home for the day. Yah. Want to tidy my pots outside if it's fine. Can't do it if it's too windy as I am still darn coughing. Woke up this morning and my head was throbbing. All the stress over the family problems are getting to me sigh. Got a call from the gym on my answer phone. Hope to see you back soon. Ummmm I don't think so ha ha. I had to rest twice taking out the rubbish bags this morning. Time races away on me. Bed I think.

makerealbany - 2014-08-18 23:14:00
6247

You do sound stressed and I'm the last person to suggest a solution to that. Taking neurofen for headaches regularly at present. Going to get my haircut this morning and so stressed about using time to do that when there are other things I should be doing! I. is home today with bad pain in the foot he uses for the clutch in his truck. It starts in the ball of his foot and then spreads to 3 of his toes. I have no idea how to help with that either, thank goodness he's going to the doctor today about it.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-19 08:21:00
6248

He has Morten's Neuroma! And the rest of the week off. I'm taking the Women's Group to the Museum today. First visit since before the 'quakes. Not that enthusiastic about it, I have to say.

grizzly4 - 2014-08-20 07:58:00
6249

I have never heard of that. Poor bugger. Hope the Museum trip goes well. I am the only one home. Everyone at school and work. My daughter is still sick. GP says she needs more time off. It's hard when she is the Provider for her family. Going to turn the pump on to fill up the top tank and hose down outside. Feeling heaps better now. Doing a tea cosy for the lady to go with her blanket. Got some wool left.

The tea cosy is a nice idea. You'll be glad to see the back of the blanket. LOL. Museum trip did go well but lots of empty display areas still. They make a great coffee though. LOL. I'm working on an aran style matinee jacket this week, so I've nearly finished the first sleeve, back and fronts done.
