Alice & Coallies before you tear your hair & throw everything out of the cot, some suggestions to try. How long is it since needle has been changed? Should be changed at least after 6-8 hours of sewing.
How long since machine had good clean & oil? There could be a bit of fluff or thread in shuttle case Give it a good going over & that just might help.
Understand about the bird's nest underneath had that the other day, changed the needle gave it a clean out & hey pesto.

6081

Alice are you ok did you fix it ?

coalrange1 - 2010-03-04 15:28:00
6082

i found with stippling if i moved the fabric too slow or had the tension too loose the underside was a god-awful mess. use a practice sandwich and just run through a straight line, putting the tension(top) up a notch each time till it looks right... when i do it i also label what the tension was beside each line for future reference.

Hello all, have been really busy today, daughter-in-laws sidekick away on holidays and they are absolutely snowed under so I have been loading from home. Isn't the internet wonderful. Still haven't got the rest of the quilt cut out and from the amount of work in my inbox won't be until next week, looks like I will be at it all weekend.
That chenille is lovely Coalie, have seen some patterns, using it, in the Australian Patchwork and Stitching Mags I get from the library but I have to say it is very expensive. I have bought quite a lot of fabric from Rossville Quilts in the States and it is soooooo much cheaper. Takes only a week to arrive, Marcia has a wonderful website and fat quarters are only $2.20 - $2.20 US so even with the exchange rate that is awfully cheap compared to what we pay here. Sadly I think the retailers here have got very greedy. Sorry if you think I am being unfair.
Anyway won't be around much for about the next week I think so keep sewing and think of me stuck in from of the computer doing really boring stuff - yes it is boring stuff.

Hi Franny, whew what alot of work you have thankgoodness you are feeling better and able to help. i googled the website, theyve got some lovely stuff it could be very tempting thankyou.
I hope the next week flies by so you can get back to your quilt. Will think of you :)

liz_taylor - 2010-03-05 08:05:00
6093

Sigh, after a week of migraines, have decided I will be staying home during the day, aside from doc's appointments and pre-school runs. If i get hit by a migraine while out, i'm stuffed cause i can't take my meds. *Prepares to become a hermit* <--- Just put this on my face book. Seriously though, dont wanna be behind the wheel if i get hit by one of these... I HATE being a hermit but i've done it before (before i went on preventers) and i know it's best for my health and bubs.... How well do you think hubby will respond to a request to be driven to the fabric shop?

liz_taylor - 2010-03-05 08:15:00

Well, the weekend is nearly here, and I'm off with my Canteen Quilts and raffle books to the Relay for Life. I so enjoy the positivity of this event. The weather here in Hamilton looks promising and I'm hoping to do about 5-6 hours over the 22 hour period. We have one of our team who is happy to walk in the ungodly hours, my times will be a little more reasonable. Cheers everyone, I'll be back in next week to show you my finished baby's quilt.
