I reckon you can never have too much wool either

Morning everyone. Your right Kiwimade, it was lovely to be out without MrP and without it involving a medical appointment. Ohh that will be cool re the alpaca. Funny cos they're not an animal that I feel drawn too.. But yes the yarn would be the best draw card lol.. Ive done two balls on this blanket and still not totally happy with it. but Ill make it a baby size and put it in with the charity blankets.. The ones at the CMA didn't sell on the weekend so the one Im doing can go elsewhere. Little Model Missy has made it into the finals of a competition to have her photo in a calendar that the vets put out each year... Im soo chuffed. I don't know if there is another judging round or not. The email wasn't very clear lol... so Ill wait to see what happens. It went to her head last night Im missing 3 hours of sleep thanks to her tearing around like a holy terror.. Little rat Not much happening here today either... lol Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2014-11-12 09:22:00
Little Rat - that was the name of our cat before last. When my friend brought her to us she was a half-starved kitten, with no fur on her ears or face, and a big sore on her rump and her tail hung down like cotton reels strung together. Mr K said "you needn't think we're keeping THAT, it looks like a little rat!" And she ended up a beautiful cat. Knit and natter shortly. Better go and get myself ready. Weather looks like it is going to deteriorate shortly. It's sunny but blowing a gale already. That's a good excuse to forget about the weeding and concentrate on indoor stuff. Have a good day and happy crafting everyone. kuaka - 2014-11-12 10:03:00
morning all carolev - 2014-11-12 12:00:00
Not good Carole have you been to the dr? Poor Little Rat Kuaka, but she got herself a loving home. years ago Id just asked my stepfather if I could have a kitten when I moved to live in a house they had brought, before they could move in.. he said no... Missy plopped herself down on my lap earlier so I was "stuck" didn't have a new ball of yarn for the blanket so did some daisys for the table runner instead. Will have to get that out and see how many Im going to need The wind is wild here too. And we have had a heavy shower but now its blue out there. popeye333 - 2014-11-12 12:07:00
Expensive day yesterday, went to knit and natter in the old Safari then went to the service station and put diesel in it. Came home and took Mr K out for a walk in the car, then went to the service station and put petrol in it. Collected the mail and in it was the invoice for the hot water cylinder $2,090 and a quote for tarsealing the bottom of our driveway which is a mess, $1900. So just as well I've got a few pennies in the piggy bank, eh? Might have to curtail my spending on wool and think about selling some I don't need. Am working on a "mile a minute" crochet blanket at the moment, then I must get back to the 10 stitch zig zag one that I started ages ago. We had some really heavy rain yesterday afternoon but it was very brief. Sunny this morning and no wind - yet. If it stays like this all day it will be good. Have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2014-11-13 08:15:00
Morning everyone Ouchies to the bank Kuaka, things often happen like that eh. I think I could part with just about anything before I consider selling wool lol. Have to brave this squawly weather and go out to do my INR..And they want to see my blanket so Ill bung it in a rubbish bag lol... Gotta do banking and then the supermarket. MrP is dressed to come with me, but the weather might change his mind. Didn't quite get a ball done on the blanket yesterday... Was lacking in sleep and concentration lol... and Madam decided to have another go at honing this morning when the wind and rain got up again at 5am.... Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2014-11-13 09:07:00
morning ladies, no crafting for me yesterday or today as I am in the classroom. So knit a few rows for me! Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-14 06:58:00
morning ladies I did a lot of knitting yesterday coss I was happy had morning coffee with grandmasue and lunch with dolorus in the rest home, was a very yummy food outing, sue bakes so yummy fruit cake and the rest home lunch was great, carolev - 2014-11-14 07:23:00
Great that you are better again Carole. Happy stitching all. jayemtoo - 2014-11-14 08:48:00
Morning everyone... Its raining at the mo but Im sure it will be fine for it Glad you had a nice day and are feeling better Carole. Ohh jayemtoo, groceries are getting soo expensive now. Ive started buying a few baking items to make some goodies for Christmas and it really shows on the bill. We have plenty of ham off the bone in the freezer so don't have to worry about that for Christmas day thank goodness Im up to a 66cms square on the pink blanket so far.. Ill make it about 100-110cms for a cot size. Will be a quiet day here, cos I finally had a really good sleep, but slept in one position so an achy lol Have a good day all popeye333 - 2014-11-14 09:07:00
Morning everyone. Am about 75cms I think on the blanket.. measuring it laying on my knee, So Ill measure properly later. Im on the 5th ball I think. Hope everyone has a good day... Will be nice catching up with fellow garage salers at the school, we don't go out to the garage sales early anymore lol popeye333 - 2014-11-15 07:42:00
morning :) Been busy catching up on housework, all that cutting my hardanger has left a bit of a mess with teeny bits of thread all over the carpet. Couldn't get to tidy it all up as I have been working. Well that's my excuse lol. Washing on the go, bathroom and loo done, dusting done, dishes done, bed stripped and remade. Just have to vacuum and wash floors. MrK is planting some plants for me. We bought a cape gooseberry, can't wait for it to fruit. Better get a wriggle on and finish up then the day is mine. Happy knitting. kiwimade64 - 2014-11-15 09:13:00
I'm knackered and have just sat down for a cuppa. We went for a walk this morning and nearly got blown inside out and backwards, and then I decided I would start to do some well overdue spring cleaning. I've taken down the bathroom curtains and washed them, and washed the window frames, also the window frames in the office, kitchen and dining room, and after I've rested I'm going to clean the windows. Mr K says I've done enough and to leave it at that, but I really want to get the windows clean. Yesterday we went back to the Warehouse to buy the barbecue which we wanted to get on Monday but it wouldn't fit in the car, so yesterday we took the old Safari, but discovered the special ended on Tuesday. Bugger! Never mind, off to Bunnings to buy the one we liked there. Oops. That one sold on Monday afternoon! Maybe we're not meant to get a new barbecue. I also wanted new trousers at the Warehouse, 'cos I bought some on Monday and decided they are sooooo comfortable I should have bought more. Monday they had heaps in my size, yesterday, they had one miserable pair, black and I wanted navy. Oh well, black is better than none. I decided to wash one of the pairs because they are a linen mix and felt a bit scratchy - pleased I did as the water looked more like ink, took heaps of rinses before it started to look just a bit coloured. I would have really cursed if the dye had gone all over my underwear when I got hot, or worse, all over everything else in the machine. Right, windows are beckoning, then I can relax and knit. Hope everyone is well. kuaka - 2014-11-15 15:42:00
morning ladies :) I have a few more plants to plant out this morning then I can knit, or sew, or crochet... who knows! So nice to have choices! When my sister had to have a few days off work because of her broken toe she was bored silly. Made me very grateful I have crafting skills and will always have something to do! Hope everyone is well and gets some time today to do what they want. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-16 07:58:00
Morning everyone. Im with you on that Kiwimade, Id hate not to be able to sit and craft when sick or nothing is happening. Id be bored silly and probably eat all the time. Looks like Ill be starting a 6th ball for the blanket. didn't really want to but by the time the ball Im working on is done it will only be about 85cms I think. And I want it a little bigger than that. Yesterday I got two cushion inners from the gala. One is a long cylindrical and then other a rectangle. I was thinking of using the new useless tea-towels I have in the linen cupboard to make covers. but Now I thinking of crocheting some covers to match my blue knitted blanket. Its fine out there so I will get up the street.. Have a good day everyone Edited by popeye333 at 9:02 am, Sun 16 Nov popeye333 - 2014-11-16 09:02:00
Morning all - it still is morning but only just! Hot drying wind here and the new little plants don't really like it but is a lovely day all the same. Where would we be without crafts to turn to - I'm sure I would go mad or at least drive others mad if I didn't have something in my hands. I tend to have a small project in my bag a lot of the time just in case I need it as i know some of the others on here do too. Stayed up late last night starting a ballet carry as it has an i-cord cast on which is quite slow to do and then got part way to the armholes before I discovered that I had miscounted when placing the markers in the 1st row grrrrr only have myself to blame as had to pull it all undone again. Now back to where I was so can go and do a bit outside. Happy crafting all jayemtoo - 2014-11-16 11:31:00
afternoon all. granddaughter birthday yesterday done back and front of jumper now doing sleeves, ok day here bit windy carolev - 2014-11-16 16:10:00
morning :) Meet our latest addition lol, well, he's our neighbours but lives in our paddock. He's nine years old and apparently too old for using the fleece. The best fleece comes from alpacas five years and under. We're off to Tauranga today :) happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-17 07:38:00
He looks very soft and fluffy kiwimade. Miserable weather here, it has been raining quite stead but has just stopped. Forecast is for heavy rain, gale force winds and thunder, so that's something to look forward to. I hope my visitor makes it safely, she's driving up from Auckland today. Better go and finish the rest of the housework and get the welcoming party ready! Have a great day everyone, and careful on the road kiwimade. kuaka - 2014-11-17 08:10:00
Pity about the alpaca wool Kiwimade - but will save you having to sneak next door with a pair of scissors - lol. Not sure about the weather here but have the washing on but will probably hand it in the garage just to be sure. Knitting growing nicely now. jayemtoo - 2014-11-17 08:38:00
Morning everyone.. Love the photo Kiwimade. Funny cos I don't really like alpacas but hes kinda cute. Shame about the wool tho.. Would it be any good for say weaving? Im all excited for you Kuaka... Cant wait for pictures. The lawn boys were here just after 7-30am, thank goodness we were awake. Although I was tempted to shut my eyes again and let the sounds of the mower lull me back to sleep. Its going to rain so they are trying to get what they can done, so they don't get too far behind. Ive finished the pink blanket its just a small baby one. Will list it along with a few other things this morning Then I have a heap of choices of what to start Next Have a good day all popeye333 - 2014-11-17 08:52:00
he is very soft kuaka, his fleece is sooo thick. I ran my fingers through it yesterday and it just felt divine. I don't know about weaving popeye, will have to find out. kiwimade64 - 2014-11-17 09:03:00
morning all. when is this rain going to stop. 1 sleeve left on jumper. then might make baby vests carolev - 2014-11-18 06:28:00
Rain has stopped here and the sun is shining - maybe summer is getting closer - I said to Mr K the other day that we had better weather back in the winter. Zapped to town yesterday for a few supplies and to check the mail, and just as I got to the checkout at the Four Square, the lights flickered, then flickered some more, then off. Alarm screeching, no power. Couldn't pay for my groceries with my card, so had to use what cash I had (which wasn't enough) so I said "my credit's good here isn't it?" The young asian girl serving me looked a bit puzzled and asked the older one who said "yes". So next time I'm in I owe them a whole $1.50. Just one of the advantages of living in a small town I guess. Got home, gasping for a cup of coffee, knowing I couldn't boil the jug, I put water in a saucepan and when it boiled, I turned it off. Put the coffee in the mug and then without thinking, picked up the jug and poured the cold water onto the coffee. Well done. Not sure whether I'm going to my usual Tuesday afternoon out yet or not, as our visitor is still here, not sure if she's departing today or staying on. Meantime I will try to get some knitting done. Have a good day everyone. kuaka - 2014-11-18 08:09:00
Morning everyone.. We have sun too finally.. But Im really over the wind.. I said to MrP why cant we pause the wind till its a stinking hot day in summer and then put the wind on. Started a cardy for me last night. Its meant to have a band of lace above the ribbing and then a strip up the fronts. But Im making it plain. Its a pretty blue mauve colour. Guess it will depend on what Im wearing with it as to what colour it will look. All going well with your visitor I hope Kuaka. Have a good day everyone popeye333 - 2014-11-18 08:26:00
Well I'm not very happy with my new addition this morning, as she did a big pee at the bottom of the stairs, in the stair well, instead of using her kitty litter, and as I clambered over the bannister with a bucket of water to clean up the mess, I whacked my knee into the knob on the end of the bannister. It almost took my breath away and it was all I could do to not cry. Just what I don't need. It's throbbing like mad. Hope to go to knit and natter this morning, Mr K wasn't very happy about me going out yesterday afternoon, but I figure the cat has to fit in with my life, I'm not about to turn my life inside out to give her a home. http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/345296432.jpg Edited by kuaka at 8:23 am, Wed 19 Nov kuaka - 2014-11-19 08:14:00

Morning everyone. Well dr has put me on glipizide cos my dibetes wont settle down... Just a very small dose as Im not in very high readings but just above the norm. CMA was good, I got a fair bit of knitting done. The ones I sat with last week weren't there yesterday, so I met more yesterday. MrP is still in bed... I have washing on, I don't think it will get blown to Timbutoo today lol HAve a good day everyone popeye333 - 2014-11-19 09:19:00
Our forecast is for showers this afternoon, but right now we have thick drizzly foggy rain, it's a total "whiteout" outside, and wet wet wet. Off to knit and natter soon, won't stay there all that long, but I like to go if I can. Mr K didn't seem to mind when I suggested I go but he didn't think I should go out for the afternoon yesterday. No, I didn't rub her nose in it, it was difficult enough getting myself into the stairwell to clean it up, without trying to get her there as well, she's quite heavy! kuaka - 2014-11-19 09:51:00
Hope you had a nice time out Kuaka.. I was doing my own rendition of your Power outage on the weekend.. Only mine was with coffee making. Did a lot up the road this morning and have done two loads of washing. And now Im paying for it. Have had meds which are just starting to work,.. Was close to the tearfull amount of sore. Apparently the wool that the wool man sells is about the same as the $2 shops and that Needles brand of wool. so Il have a look.. He comes around several times a year. No crafts done this morning. But I only have 4 flowers to sew on my table runner. Not sure if I will put the green on it or not. I can always put tinsel on it when I use it. cos its going to be used at Christmas time. Right a play on here then back to the needles.. Im going to knit some top down dresses for CMA before winter , Ive decided. Simple and I didn't see any at their sale popeye333 - 2014-11-19 12:29:00
This is my Table runner finished. I was going to sew a long green trail of green chains on it. but I don't think Ill bother now. I wish it had been slightly longer, but this way Missy cant just reach up from the chair and take it off the table. I have a small chirstmas tree that will sit on it , along with any other decorations I feel it will need http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/345430515.jpg http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/345431292.jpg http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/345431382.jpg popeye333 - 2014-11-19 15:39:00
Love the table runner popeye. Wouldn't have thought about doing anything like that. I did enjoy my brief respite this morning, gave a friend a lift home to my place (as she was walking and it's on the way to hers - and she wanted to see puss) well puss wasn't impressed. Apparently Mr K had searched for her for an hour while I was out. She appeared when I arrived home, and then as soon as my friend left, she disappeared again. We searched and searched and in the end I gave up. She eventually appeared from the bedroom but I have no idea where she managed to hide. All good this afternoon till I was cooking tea and she promptly went to the corner of the room and peed on the carpet. I'm not happy at all. Rubbed her nose in it this time, and cleaned up the mess, BUT ..... I'm threatening to go to the spca for a kitten and she can like it or lump it, which is a shame as she does seem to be a nice cat. I can't have her using the house as her private toilet though. Edited by kuaka at 7:24 pm, Wed 19 Nov kuaka - 2014-11-19 19:23:00
morning :) She is a pretty puss kuaka, pity about the peeing though. Well done on your runner popeye, looks great! I have tonsillitis and have been sick for a few days now. Ache all over, can't swallow, all the usual stuff. Docs given me a huge dose of penicillin to take and that's making a difference. But I am just so tired all the time, probably as I'm not eating. One way to loose weight I suppose lol. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-20 07:49:00
Morning everyone. Oh Kiwimade you have my fullest sympathies. I used to suffer with tonsillitis when I was a kid.. My throat is still one of my Archilles Heels, I cannot stand sore throats or the tops of my arms even being poked with a finger. They are soo sensitive. Im really pleased with my runner. Something I designed lol... Im not a designer by any means but it looks like I planned it to be. Shopping today and to pick up our shopping bags of medication lol... Then Im going to sit and knit. HAve a good day everyone popeye333 - 2014-11-20 09:28:00
thanks popeye, the chemist actually queried my script lol as it had been so long since I have had one for me. And the doc said it was 2008 when I last saw him for 'me'... I said well mrK makes up for both of us! I usually see the nurse for all those womanly things we need doing not the doc. Antibiotics are kicking in and pain relief is finally working. Still feeling a bit shaky but once I can eat properly again I'll be fine. I've started the hardanger piece for the wedding present today. Feels good to be able to concentrate again! Hope everyone is well and getting some sort of crafting done :) happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-20 11:10:00

Well I think she finally used the dirt box in the night, can't really see what she's done in there but she's definitely been in it, hopefully she wasn't just "playing" in it. Up early because this morning we are going to Kerikeri for our third attempt at buying a new barbecue. No doubt it will take a junior Einstein to assemble it - really looking forward to that part. Looks like being a nice day. Hope to be able to do some sewing and/or gardening this afternoon. Have a super day everyone. kuaka - 2014-11-21 07:38:00
morning ladies :) Third time lucky kuaka lol. I bet you find the perfect BBQ. Well done puss, you're finally figuring it out! Still camped on the couch. Running out of oooomph as I still can't eat properly so feel like my legs are going to give out under me. Think I have lost about 3 kilos in as many days - not that it will do me any harm but boy I feel weird! Will see how I go today with some sort of craft. Hope everyone is well, happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-21 08:12:00

Morning everyone... Ill have a look in a min for you little miracles.. How much do you need? Yay for Pippi finally using the box. White vinegar and baking soda works well too. Bob pee'd on the element of the stove once and the smell went instantly using the vinegar and baking soda. Kiwimade maybe you need a power blender thingee and make some smoothie drinks. Just don't have banana it stings on the throat. I put our BBQ together. Wouldn't let MrP touch it, or it would have been through the ranch slider when it was closed. Going to bake the Christmas cake today and make up a pound of butter into shortbread dough. Will slice it and free flow it in the freezer to bake later. HAve a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2014-11-21 09:16:00
sorry little-miracles, lavender isn't a colour I have knitted. Can't for the life of me think why lol. But it does remind me of a comment one of my new entrants made a couple of years ago trying to describe it....you know Mrs R... that old lady purple! Had to giggle. kiwimade64 - 2014-11-21 10:49:00

morning all sat at my friends knitting and did the pattern all wrong so you gested it today is unpick day. when I have finished playing with my new machine carolev - 2014-11-22 08:49:00
What sort of new machine did you get carolev? I guess I will be putting the new barbecue together this afternoon. It was so heavy we had to unpack it in the old Safari and carry it in bit by bit, lug it up the stairs and it is now spread through the lounge and family room. We ended up getting the one we originally went for and it was actually $20 cheaper than the special price the first time we went to buy it, but considering we've done 3 trips to get it, it probably still works out more expensive. We will go for a walk later, and then I might do some gardening (have beans I want to plant and some spinach and silverbeet to plant) if my sore back will let me. Then if I manage to get all that done, I can relax and do some crochet. Have fun everyone. kuaka - 2014-11-22 09:05:00
morning ladies :) We're expecting our daughter and her family to visit soon, we're babysitting for a few hours while they shop. Am feeling a bit light headed probably from not eating properly over the past five days. But at least I can swallow now, just need to get rid of the yucky taste in my mouth. Glad you got you BBQ at long last kuaka, that was quite the mission! Carole, exciting about your machine, what did you get? I miss mine lol, our daughter has 'borrowed' it but she needs it more than me so might as well get the use out of it. Hope everyone gets done today what they want/need too. happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-22 09:56:00
morning girls I bought the latest and greatest brother dream weaver embroiry machine 6 grand mine you, so now have 2 big machines on the table , mr T should hit the roof when he find out this year I have spent 14 grand on sewing machine. need to sell off some of the older ones. over last 3 years I have bought 7 machine. well still have not unpicked sleeve carolev - 2014-11-23 06:16:00
Morning everyone.Wow Carole that's a lot on machines but they must be good quality. Am going to bake again today but have to go get flour first lol. Addy next door is one today so will take her pressie over later. Its gone so fast. I made Missy a scratch post yesterday she loves it. Knitting going slowly. Half way up the back. Have an awesome day everyone :-) popeye333 - 2014-11-23 07:05:00
morning ladies :) Still sick, usually I have kicked bugs to the curb by now but not this one. Even with all these antibiotics. babysat our maddy yesterday and she was an absolute delight for the whole afternoon. Just started rubbing her eyes when her mum and dad drove in the gate so perfect timing lol. Was knackered though and slept in this morning. I have some catching up to do garden and craft wise next week when I'm fully back on my feet lol. Those machines are awesome carole, I know you will get many many many years of enjoyment out of them. And I liken the expense to the cost of when MrK would go fishing on a charter boats (that was his thing was back then) so I could easily justify cost lol. Not sure what I'm going to do today, will see how I feel. Happy knitting :) kiwimade64 - 2014-11-23 08:30:00
Morning Wow your new machine sounds great Carole and I'm sure there is always a way to justify anything to do with crafts. Had a busy week, sister from Hamilton had business to see to in Whangerei and Auckland so took the opportunity to go with her and see a friend who lives at One Tree Point near Whangerei and then have a day poking around the shops and sight seeing on the North Shore - we stayed the couple of nights there to save a bit of travel. Just so pleased don't live in or near Auckland as we left 5pm and took ages to get over the bridge and down Southern Motorway. Now having to catch up a bit on the garden as obviously it has been very hot and windy and the little plants are not very happy about that. jayemtoo - 2014-11-23 08:56:00
