1938 (1 1/2d) block of six (in an 18 booklet) all mint unused ( including issue booklet) Does the booklet make these any more sought after...?..also will predecimal blocks fetch more than selling them individually ?

Simple answer is..... yes. for the first and sometimes for the second question.

I dont agree in full Donaldo. I have tried listing at a reasonable value e.g. $19 for an item and a buy now of $25. No bids, I thne went to $1 reserve and start and sold for $33.

I have had this with other items, not always stamps where I end up selling an item on a $1 reserve auction for more than a previous attempt with a higher start, but lower buy now. I am guessing its a psychological thing and also a buyer timing issue. Right bidder(s) need two to get price up, on right day and not too much competition for exactly the same stamps from someone else.......

I recently spoke to Simon Allison (NZ Post) regarding health camp postmarks. Simon confirmed that the individual health camp cancels will no longer be available, so 2013 was their last use. His reason for discontinuing them was 'limited demand', but he also said that they would reconsider this decision if demand warrants. If you want these special cancellations reinstated, you need to let NZ Post know!

There's a philatelic exhibit in the Community Art Gallery on Princes Street in Dunedin this week. Maybe those in the know on stamps already knew? Maybe not.

I have just been looking at my old stamp collection and have decided to sell it on. Question being is I'm looking at selling to a dealer/stamp collector. Do people know of a dealer in Wellington? Thanks.

Murray i think another problem was that the Health Camp people keep changing the names of their establishments. The name for the Rotorua based one was Princes of Wales Health Camp but the Camp people themselves changed that. They have tried to modernise their names but it all seems to be a great failure.

A question needs to be asked why New Zealand is not written on the latest WWI Centenary stamp issue. I have a customer in US who I sent an order to and asked me why no name. Seems a shame. I know they have silver fern on them, but no NZ. Maybe we are GB now, no name?

Just wondering if someone can help me. I have a NZ stamp catalogue from 1925. It's titled Catalogue of the Stamps of New Zealand and Island Dependencies. 1925. (Second Edition). I've tried researching online and can't find out anything about it as to its value - if any. Can someone point me in the right direction. Cheers.

Yes - noticed that too & had to look closer at a copy received to see where it was from - UK was first guess from a brief glance ..

Hello. I know nothing about stamp values. My father has given me a lot of stamp packs dating back to the 1970's, to sell (if possible) or otherwise dispose of. They are in mint condition.
Would like some helpful advice about how to go about doing this. How to find out values etc. Should I list them as complete sets. How much etc.
Thankyou

Hi, guys. Can you have a look at this scan of an envelope 'front' and tell me if you think it is anything odd: http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/329718870.jpg

WW2 'On Active Service' to Count Bertrand von Zeeland of Lampton Quay. Is he a figure I should know?

I'll make sure I do that as I'm sure there will be a lot of great stamp bargains there.

Does anyone know if TM has been approached much about reducing the costs of gallery for stamps?
The percentage is just far too much, and I would like to see it drop to the same as for books - 25c or 30c for GP... anyone else?

That 65 cents covers the original listing and 2 relists if necessary. To be honest I'd prefer not to have to scroll thru hundreds of $1 starts with free gallery pictures. It is a good way or knowing what is worthwhile taking a look at.

(Query brought over from Collectors' forum)

Here is a 2pence stamp with the words G & T Earle Ltd Hull on it.
http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/332299265.jpg

Can skp please tell me if the words were part of the printing process and approx. what year it may have been printed...

This was a cement manufacturing company started in Hull, ca 1809 until 1966 when the business closed. I would be grateful for any info. TIA.

I want to know the value of some NZ stamps, please.

Olympic Stamps;

Don't know what year they were released. But there is 4 stamps, all stuck on a backing and inside a plastic stamp bag that the stamp centre uses, for posting.

45 John Walker, 90 Yvette Williams, 1.50 Ferguson and McDonald, 2.00 Peter Snell. In 3D, if that's what you call it. Many thanks for any help.

I am not really a collector of stamps, but an American friend gifted me an Elvis Presley stamp as he tough that I would appreciate it and not on sell it like his friends were keen to do (this was over 10myers back I think) The time has come to perhaps move it on as it is just sitting in a cupboard here -but just need to find out its value if it has one, and ensure it is authentic. It does have a Certificate of Authenticity from the International Collectors Society, and an issue number - 1300 out of 3000. It is a single, large gold (??) stamp with Elvis face on it and also another number. Is there anywhere on the North Shore of Auckland that anyone knows about where I could get it checked at all? The country on the Authenticity is the Republic of Guinee Thanks for any help.

Thanks donaldo - think it is the 1500F stamp (not at home right now) - will need to check. The Authenticity note says that is is accepted by all postal services - if of no value then no guilt in getting rid of it in the rubbish perhaps :-) Will try and work out how to upload a piccie of it later on when I get home

Hi, I was wondering if any of you can help, after a 20 year break from stamp collecting I have decided to restart. I went through my old collection and found this stamp, from the 1986 police centenary, but instead of it being brown on the it is green. I don't think it is faded, the rest of the stamp doesn't look any different, they have always been kept in albums, away from the sun. I have googled to see if there are others like that, but haven't found any. Do you know if it is a known fault, or done on purpose, and what would be the value?? If any, thanks

These aren't that uncommon.
Unsure of whether it is a genuine colour error or caused by exposure to sunlight or something else.
