Oh well done! Such a sense of satisfaction when you sort it yourself, isn't there? Like finding that 5c that you are out in the accounts. LOL. I love the sound of the Avoidance dance. Chuckle. I've done a beanie and bootees in a variegated sock yarn. Very out there. I've now started dolls cardy. We mentioned to I's brother last weekend how our plan is to remove the fir tree by the letterbox before winter as the snow over the last couple of years had broken all the structural branches and we had them all tied to the main trunk. I came home on Thursday and it was down and all cut up on a tarpaulin on the front lawn. Too bad if I had changed my mind! I am grateful but it was definitely one of those jobs where timing is everything. Time to get it all to the dump, taking down 2 cabbage trees while the chainsaw was here hasn't happened, and I'm too broke this week to go shopping for the shrubs to fill the gap. Sigh. Looks like we are going to have to hire a cherry picker for a morning for I. to trim the tops of the trees along the drive or get a professional in. I can't trust him up a ladder on those knees anymore. He's working today and on call tomorrow to clear landslides and slips. How did you fare with Lusi overnight?

We are fine grizzly. Rainind and the wind is just starting to pick up. Booked my car in to get the windscreen replaced. Darn roadworks. I am sewing up the cardi then on to a hat for my neighbours boy for his birthday. Got Pea and Ham soup in the slow cooker so lazy day just knitting. whoopee

Very productive day yesterday but not with the knitting. LOL. Tidied up one flower bed, went to Knitworld at 8am to grab some of the $1 bread for son's family's freezer. It's great for school lunches. Then when S. and DIL and L6 arrived we drove across town to pick up the reconditioned motor for a bike I. is rebuilding for his brother. (We get all the good jobs). They hadn't been in the centre of town since before the earthquakes so took them round the same way I. took me a couple of weeks ago. Then we came for a quick lunch and baked chocolate cake for afternoon tea. LOL. L6 had a great day baking cake and licking the bowl, pulling carrots for me and scrubbing them while I prepared the other veges for tea including the first lot of Kumara we have grown. THEN we had apple crumble for pudding. A very naughty day but fun!

Sounds like you had heaps of fun. I minded M6 and J3 while their Mum took their Dad to the Airport. He's home again in 8 days. I knitted the back of the little cardi. It's James C. Brett's Flutterby so big needles lol. I have tidied up a bit in one garden. Picked a doz tomatoes from a self grown plant on a bank. Bonus lol. I was going to plant more bulbs but will live it til tomorrow. Managed to fill the top tank with a third of the water from the bottom tank so the rain was good.

Good grief , it's supposed to be 27 degrees today! I have no idea what to wear these days. Cold in the mornings hot by mid afternoon, rain by evening, it's ridiculous. LOL. I spent yesterday indoors, it was so wet. Got lots of backing done and I. vacuumed out the cupboard in the bedroom where the girls have an extra bed for their nervous days. We also had a stash of water bottles in there so brought them out and changed the water. The ones in the garage and in the kitchen were done a couple of months ago. I even got to read a bit more of my book which I haven't managed to pick up for a couple of weeks. Dolls cardy turned into a jacket and I've started pants to go with it, so it won't be in the shop this morning. Have a meeting after work tonight and a double meeting tomorrow night so a couple of long days ahead unfortunately.

It's been two years today since S died. Spent the day with my girls and the little ones up at the beach. Loads of calls, flowers and visitors. Wonderful support. Tomorrow will be a hell day mediation to try and settle things or she is going to court. She hasn't seen them since the funeral but her brother and sister are going for support. I have to drop off and pick up the three little ones. I'm just praying it will be resolved

I wish your daughter all the best for today. I can't believe it's being going on this long. So unfair.

It's over. Thank God 8 and a half hours. My girl is happy and she never has to deal with them again. Hurrah. I am buggered. Long day running lol all three grandchildren were fast asleep by the time their Mummies arrived home shattered. Well I'm off to bed another early start tomorrow. No knitting today.

Thank goodness for you all! What a relief.
I'm a bit knackered, too, and it's only Wednesday. 2 10 hour days isn't great and yesterday, like you, I felt like I was running the whole time so I don't eat properly and didn't take breaks. I. is home with a tummy bug and I would have loved to stay home too (or would I?) but I have the women's group this morning. We are making little farm animals out of terracotta pots, would you believe? I am currently working on an order for the shop of a crossover cardy and matching beanie. Two more sets to do in the future for this family as well. Just as well, too, I.'s car key is not working on his door which has central locking. He has to climb in via the passenger door then unlock everything. This is the 2nd electrical thing to go on this car, goodness how much it will cost this time. It's been a great car and I don't want to think about replacing it but it only gets so many chances. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-19 07:25:00
5960

I just checked in before I fall into bed. Imagining I hopping in his car window lol. Been there done that ha ha. My electric windows played up couple of weeks ago. Grandson fixed it in 5 mins said a button was stuck down. Electrics are costly so with you on that grizzly. Haven't done any knitting or sewing today. Just running on empty again lol.

I made it through the day yesterday till about 4.30 despite having the same bug as I. I think. Felt dreadful. Seem to be better this morning, fingers crossed. The wee clay pot animals were hysterical, most were straight out of a zombie movie, I think. Lots of laughs yesterday morning.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-20 06:12:00
5962

Had to get my daughter to pick me up after I dropped my car off to get the windscreen replaced. Supposed to take three hours so we went browsing furniture shops as she wants and needs a new dining suite. Then 2 hours later we get a call there is a bit of rust where they are to replace the windscreen and unless it is fixed I cannot get a guarantee. So the panel beater has the car and they will do the screen in the morning for 11.30 pick up. So we race back down grab the car seat then go and pick up the boys. My feet are killing me lol. Ah well better to do the job right.

makerealbany - 2014-03-20 17:34:00
5963

Yes, but why is nothing straight forward when it comes to cars. LOL. I'm dreading the cost when I. takes his car into get fixed on Wednesday. Mind you the one I had put aside for it he has halved by buying parts of his trailer project!!!!! It's his birthday today so he's gone off like a big kid with his new toy - a pair of goggles for when his on his farm bike. They have a camera set into them to record videos etc. Trouble is he's the one usually doing silly things! LOL.

Lovely sunny day, going to try and tidy up the stump from the tree BIL took down a week ago. First opportunity to get out and sort it.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-22 10:07:00
5965

I'm going to work in the garden yippee. Had a fun day with family yesterday after they had all been to watch Mr Peabody at the movies. Up to the sleeves with my latest project. Have not been online til last night. Someone stole my girls IPad at that meeting. She thinks she left it on the table when she went outside for a break. Last time she used it. Anyway lent her mine. She locked hers by phone so if anyone tries to use it she will get a ring. When she gave mine back I could not get into it lol. All good now. Police said they never get them back.

makerealbany - 2014-03-23 08:22:00
5966

That's awful about the ipad! Dreadful to think who it might have been, too!
Worked hard yesterday, cleared all the debris from tree stump, bought wool from KnitWorld, organised French bread and toppings for 8 for lunch, made butterfly cakes for afternoon tea, homemade pizza and pav for tea. Boys couldn't get on together at all and there's quite a mess to clean up today now they've gone home - jelly stain on carpet which I treated last night when I found it, stones on the lawn from the rockeries and broken pieces of plants as well, and tinfoil easter egg wrappings from my daughters treat for them. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!..........-

grizzly4 - 2014-03-23 10:59:00
5967

The tree took down broke down nicely for just one trip to the eco centre! We took the good pieces of wood to our son's for his fire pit next summer plus I. cut down the old ply from the deck of the trailer and gave that to him for a structure he's building round his garden. LOL. Cleaned up our place nicely. I wasted my afternoon by falling asleep in the sun, then.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-24 06:31:00
5968

Nothing wrong with a nap in the son after all that work lol. My daughter made all sorts of vege and fruit juices and gave me some. Really scrummy. Went to the gym this morning after dropping M6 off at school. Came home and stripped my bed, pulled it back and hoovered underneath. How the hell do spiders get under there. Ugh. Put all the linen out including the elec blanket to air it then it started to drizzle. Thank goodness for the verandah and my deck. The bit of rain was great for the plants. I put some crocus in last night. Want to go out and do some more weeding for awhile before it gets dark. Sil back tonight for 2 weeks. So will knit while my girl goes to pick him up. It's 95 dollars for a cab to our place. Only cost 30 for the petrol so I said I'll pop in and mind the kids. It's awful about that plane. We keep checking the Fox News. I feel so sorry for their families.

makerealbany - 2014-03-24 18:56:00
5969

Me too, I keep waiting for the news to say it's been found. For awhile I thought there was hope it landed and they were being held hostage. The young Christchurch family has been through so much over the past few years.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-25 06:31:00
5970

Yes it's awful for them. Now they know where it went down maybe they can find out why. Just been weeding and going to have a shower then down to the shops for groceries. I'll pick up J4 from preschool. Take him home and stay there for tea. My Sil and J3 came out and we were all weeding the bank together. J chatted the whole time lol. Then he looks at me and says" I love my Dad nana" aw his Dad grinned and grabbed him for a big hug. I love watching them together lol

makerealbany - 2014-03-25 12:39:00
5971

Special moments. That's what I miss most at work now, my ex-boss and worked together for 23 years and sometimes we didn't have to say anything to know what was needed, or what to do for each other. Now that I know I can pretty much do the job the other stuff that I didn't have time for is settling in, like missing the 2 of them that left, and looking around and only seeing people that need me for something, that there's no 'connection' with yet. I know it will take time, but it won't ever be the same again. She's offered to be my external Supervisor (long distance phone calls) but I would love to contact the Supervisor I had years ago when we were in the process of setting up our Family Support Service. I can't find him anywhere, it looks like he's disappeared completely.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-26 06:42:00
5972

What a shame maybe he's retired. Off for the day in 10 mins. School run, gym and then minding my youngest granddaughter while my Dil goes to Physio. Library later then a bit of shopping. I'm measuring that little girl again. She is having a growth spurt. Very tall. I made her sleeves longer so they can be folded back but the cardi just fitted her in the sleeves duh. M6 and I spent ages making her a big thick 4 plait for her Frozen Elsa costume. She took it to school for her Show how to Make lol. K4 took his giant Pumpkin to school and all of the children sat on it and had photos. He was chuffed at all the fuss ha ha.

makerealbany - 2014-03-26 07:49:00
5973

Found him, well I think so anyway. Rechecked Googling his name again and there is a new listing here in town with a phone number so giving it a go this morning. Looks like he has opened an office in the Restart Mall. Not sure about going in the centre of 'Quake City anymore but hopefully he'll meet me for coffee somewhere else. Fingers crossed. Busy knitting 3 crossover cardy's with beanies and bootees for an order for the shop. Nice easy pattern but doing the plain stocking stitch puts me to sleep! LOL. Having problems with B9's behaviour since his birthday. It seems he thinks he is untouchable now he is so cool with his new cell phone and allowed to scooter to his cousins for league training each week. When I took the boys and their Mum home last week in my car and yelled out some cheek to a group of adolescents walking along the footpath, is rude and cheeky to his family and to the staff on the programme and he and a mate verbally abused a young man walking through the reserve next to work! He's going to get thumped by one of these guys soon when no-one is around to help him. I've said to his Mum and and my son that B's Dad needs to be in on the discussion around consequences so he and his family can follow through as well. Trouble is I think it might be the cousin's behaviour scootering home that might be at the bottom of it. He was such a sweet kid, I've told him it's such a shame he had a birthday and turned 9! LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-27 06:46:00
5974

That's great about the Supervisor. Shame about your grandson. Kids. Who would have them lol. Just put a Carrot cake in the oven. When it is cooked going up to my daughters to mind K4he has another bug from Preschool. Grrrr my daughter is taking my 19year old grand daughter to town. They have to buy her linen. She is off to Queenstown on Wednesday for a two year course. Has to take so much stuff. They have packed all her ski gear and dive gear to send today. My daughter is going down for 2 days to get her settled and meet the other parents, etc. J is really sporty and a gym fanatic so she will love her course lol.

makerealbany - 2014-03-27 11:43:00
5975

The course sounds very exciting. Good on her. Supervisor hasn't worked out yet. Phone number has been allocated to someone else now so not sure how current info on Google is. Have tried facebook and left a message for someone on there with the same name> He is definitely on Myspace but I don't know how to use that. I feel like a detective or should I say stalker?! LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-28 06:37:00
5976

Ha ha you stalker. Just got back from A17s school play. Arthur Millers " All my Sons" brilliant performance by my granddaughter. I love going to her shows. She is the singer and loves acting. Had tea out first. Sil minded his two so A could come, J who is going to Queenstown and her friend came as well with As proud parents. I am shattered so it's bed for me.

makerealbany - 2014-03-28 22:46:00
5977

And yet here you are on the computer before you go to bed. LOL. We had Indian for tea last night and then I devoured a box of chocolates while getting another of these crossover cardys finished. Suffered all night with reflux despite taken gaviscon twice. That will teach me! My son will be here by 8 this morning to help load a trailer of bike parts for a TM buyer, of course all this timed while I. is at work! It will interesting to see if S. brings his family, too, and settles in here for the day. No idea what I will give them for lunch today so I'd better get my thinking cap on. I'm hoping to get the PAYE summaries done for work before he gets here.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-29 06:29:00
5978

Was out on the bank with my Sil and the kids this morning. We cleared part of a huge bank of weeds, branches, etc. Came in at 12 had another shower then lunch. Was just starting to pin up the latest cardi to sew up when Breaking Dawn came on TV. Just had to watch again lol. Got to pop down the road for some cream and my lotto ticket then I will finish the cardi ha ha

makerealbany - 2014-03-29 14:56:00
5979

Oh my goodness! I cleared out the beans yesterday morning and pulled down the plants, brought in some carrots, came in side and mosquitos have had a feast on my lower legs! I am covered in huge red swollen patches and they are driving me crazy. Not much sleep again last night plus very worried about my daughter. She finally told her husband he has to leave last night. I am so sad for her, they have been together almost 12 years but won't make their 2nd wedding anniversary. I am so proud of her to be that brave because she started having panic attacks at work last week leading up to it. She tried a couple of times to start the conversation but I think he knew what was coming because he would walk away. She rang at 2am this morning to say she had done it. This morning he is still there but she says the house is calmer. It's hard to know what to say so I just listen. She wants to keep their rental house for her and her son and keep their current childcare arrangement because of the weird hours they both work so they will both have him part of everyday. Fingers crossed they can work it out.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-30 10:08:00
5980

I haven't sleep properly since Wednesday night! And now we are back to work for another week. Daughters husband is refusing to leave, and didn't we know that was going to happen, controlling stuff to last minute. It looks like if S. wants this to happen she will need to leave herself but once she tries to move B5 with her things are going to get really ugly.

grizzly4 - 2014-03-31 06:40:00
5981

That's awful about your daughter. If he gets abusive verbally or otherwise she can get a protection order which will give her that address. It's darn hard. Hope it works out for her. Had a family day and dinner last night to farewell J before she goes on Wednesday. We all had a fab time. I'm kinda shattered today lol. Bugger about the rotten Mossies.

makerealbany - 2014-03-31 16:55:00
5982

My goodness I slept the whole night, not even a loo visit. LOL. Just about asleep when daughter rang (about 10pm) for a catch up! No dramas though, apparently C. has told his mother so she is ringing S. with advice and veiled threats etc. Both his parents are bad as each other, they split years ago and have separate families but have 3 adult sons together, all with diagnosed conditions. His Mum went on to have another son with autism and chrones. Back when C. was younger and really struggling with bi-polar he was hospitalised a few times for attempted suicide. Every time his parents whisked him out so fast before he could start any treatment, denying there was any problem! His Dad now has adolescent twin daughters, one of which has gone through anorexia in the last 12 months, I really feel for her if he has the same attitude. Hopefully her mother is more enlightened. Now you know why I am watching B5 as he starts to exhibit some of his behaviours but I also have to take into account some of the violence that he has seen or heard as well. Trouble is, C. is completely devoted to his son and provides much of the childcare, if it wasn't for his incredibly stern approach. Very hard, and not going to get any easier, especially if the school gets involved and makes a notification.

grizzly4 - 2014-04-01 06:14:00
5983

Oh my you have got a lot to worry about. Thank goodness you had a good sleep. I am about to have a late shower. Got in the garden again last night so a bit stiff. Going to the gym to stretch out. My daughter T is off in the morning with J to Queenstown and daughter A is going too for a little break. I'm off up to the beach tonight so I will have K4 and J3 while their mummies are away. M6 will stay at home with her Dad. She has Netball practice before school on Thursday, Drama class after school on Wednesday so he will be running too ha ha. Better get a move on have a great day.

makerealbany - 2014-04-01 08:10:00
5984

I did have a great day thank you! Amazing what sleep does for you. LOL. Not so lucky last night but had my trusty ice pack down by feet by 2am to get a few hours sleep. The women's group is making felt toys/ornaments this morning. They get the choice between an owl or a Russian doll. We will see how creative they get with this one. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-04-02 06:35:00
5985

The felt work yesterday went extremely well! Some were still there 2 and a half hours, determined to finish what they were doing. Sometimes they don't want to have something too intricate but they were really into it yesterday. LOL. About time to start planning next term's programme I guess. I love that part even more. At home I'm working on the last of the crossover cardy's, after doing 2 already this one is a bit slower 'cos I'm getting bored with the pattern now. I'm no good at making bulk numbers of the same thing. LOL. If I get an order for numerous pairs of baby sox, it does my head in well and truly. I have a couple of new patterns on the way that I bought on TM which I'm looking forward to trying and really want to do the knitted square blanket that's done on circular needles that I bought a few weeks ago.

grizzly4 - 2014-04-03 06:41:00
5986

Knitting a looped hat for M6 never knitted one before . Only thing is got band aids on again because skin split on knuckles. It's annoying when you are knitting. Thank goodness girls went with J to Queenstown. She has a beautiful view from her room, a nice room but no drawers. They had to go to the warehouse and get drawers, containers, hangers, cleaning gear and supplies, laundry basket, etc. J was trying to organize her uniforms for today so the girls raced around lol. They had a big dinner last night. Sil had to come and get J3 as he cried for his Daddy lol. Sil was very pleased or was he? Ha ha. Gotta run and get K off to preschool, will pick up J on the way.

makerealbany - 2014-04-03 07:22:00
5987

Just heard from my girls. J is exhausted but so pleased her Mum and Aunty were there to help get her settled. Some of the young people arrived alone so the girls were house mothers even though they are at a motel lol. Poor buggers. The kids I mean. Js friends are on the course but most of them are guys and they are more laid back ha ha. It took 2 hours out of the day to take K to preschool and pick him up no wonder my girl gets exhausted. It will be easier when K starts school up the road , just 2 mins walking.

S. has found herself a wee house to move to over Easter. If he won't leave then she's leaving him to it. Now the negotiations over B5 start!

grizzly4 - 2014-04-04 06:31:00
5989

Well at lest S is making plans just in case he won't move out. Good on her. Yes that will be hard. My girls are home and so am I now. Sitting in my lazy boy knitting. Yah. My back is so sore. My daughters lounge may look good but I'd rather have my tatty old chair. Lol

makerealbany - 2014-04-04 19:47:00
5990

Nice morning here. I am taking it easy today . Finished the looped hat but it looks big mmmmm will get M to try it this morning. Funny how some patterns are deceiving. It is really pretty though. Did it in King Cole Splash. Going to see if M wants a cardi or jersey in the same wool. I normally knit that first but it's good to be different ha ha. One of my Lillie's I bought has just flowered, not a Christmas lily but fab perfume and white. Large flowers. Have to check the name. Wasn't expecting it to flower yet. My other bulbs are popping up everywhere. The little bit of rain we had helped. Although we did buy another lot of water in on Thursday.

makerealbany - 2014-04-05 08:40:00
5991

Buying in water ! I can't imagine having to do that. Except bottled water during the e/quakes LOL. I'm just having a cup of tea before going into the shop for the morning. Only just missed you!

grizzly4 - 2014-04-05 08:53:00
5992

Woke with a cough bugger it. Will have to stay away from J. We are going to get him checked out as he wakes up continually at night crying. Poor baby. K5 won the biggest Pumpkin comp at Mitre Ten in Whangaparoa. He is over the moon it weighed 37 kilos and the next was 9. They have it on display in the store and he is entered in the National competition lol. My older grandsons were so proud of their little brother. He watered and checked that pumpkin every day.

makerealbany - 2014-04-06 08:55:00
5993

What a clever gardener he is! That's an enormous difference in size. S and C have agreed on 50/50 care, 1 week on 1 week off. He's going to C's mother's in Dunedin for the 2 weeks of the school holidays which will hard on B5 as he has only had 2 nights away from Mum and Dad his whole life! Then C is insisting on his week being first once he's back. MY daughter is going to go nuts not seeing her boy for 3 weeks! They are going to tell him this week and I suggested getting him a box so he can decide for himself which half of his stuff is going to his new home with Mum. He needs some power in all of this.

grizzly4 - 2014-04-06 10:12:00
5994

Yes he does poor little lad. There is a little lass in M6s class and she spends a week at her Dads and a week at her Mums. I feel sorry for her mum as she is a wreck. When her daughter stays with her Dad all the routines go to hell as his new live in girlfriend doesn't want to upset her social life. She goes to her mum utterly exhausted and her school work and behaviour are suffering. Don't know how it's going to work out but he won't be told a thing. I think he should go to his mums first week back. How bloody selfish of his father. When will parents work out what is best for the children and put them first. My ex Sil was like that and we fought him tooth and nail and in the end he only had S at weekends and alternate holidays. I am resting and knitting myself a cardi in King Cole Riot Chunky which is really pretty.

makerealbany - 2014-04-07 13:04:00
5995

I am having to work hard on stocking up my items in the shop now that the orders are finished. Good money but it used up 3 weeks of my pre winter stock up time. Actually I think this happened last year and I was left on the back foot. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2014-04-08 07:39:00
5996

Yes before we know it another year rolls by. Took M to school and did my groceries. Came home and cleaned out three cupboards, groceries are all put away and my ironing is beckoning but it can wait until tomorrow. My back is really sore so I am going to finish the back of my Cardi and start on the fronts. M did not like her hat, said it looked like a tea cozy ha ha so I am giving it to a great niece who's Mum said she will adore it. She also told me my grandchildren are very lucky and too spoilt. I think she's right ha ha. My sisters do not knit, sew or crochet so their grandchildren love handmade items.

makerealbany - 2014-04-08 11:53:00
5997

At least there are other children in your family that your knitting can go to. LOL. It seems to be a hard week this week. I'm having to fill in for sick staff on the programmes, performance appraisals to complete, major funding to sort, I. changes the company he works for today so he has had a couple of days off and decided to buy a new car spontaneously! The last one I find more stressful than all the others put together. We have very different views on dealing with money. I am always the one that gives in and he knows I will so just does it anyway and I pick up the pieces afterward. Funny, I sound like my daughter. Mmmmmmm.

grizzly4 - 2014-04-09 06:39:00

And it's still raining so we can't go mini-golfing. Will have to find a café for the Women's Group this morning.

Omg some men!!!!!!! It's hard being the one to pick up the pieces and sort things out financially. Some men are like kids always wanting new toys mmmmm. Just cleaned up both boys here for tea and one sleeping over. I am going to knit and keep an eye on the weather until it rains? Got lots of washing on the lines and my girl is out buying a new microwave. The last one only lasted 5 years. Pathetic the way things just stop working. You are flat out at work grrrrrr take a breath girl. Hope it rains here.

Rain held off for our game yesterday and we had time for a coffee after as well. LOL. Was a good morning with a smaller group for a change. I got 2 holes in one! Amazing. DIL's birthday today so going out for breakfast with her friends, shame my daughter can't come but it's a difficult time 9.30 when we are all working. I've brought work home to do beforehand and I've already had breakfast, of course. LOL. I wouldn't be able to wait till 9.30 when I'm up at 5! I might be having coffee and a scone rather than bacon and eggs. LOL. I'm working on having a wee pile of beanies and bootees to take into the shop on Monday. I finally bought the shoe storage hanger for the spare bedroom cupboard and now have a knitting project of wool in each cubby. No more rummaging in huge bags and as each project is complete I can refill the cubby with any wool still in the bags till it's all used up. (Maybe) It does look good, just like going into my own wee wool shop! LOL.
