Ive had a productive day. Sorted the office craft stuff out again. And have my frames and a couple of lots of cottons to list.
Have my double up box of Dean and Son books out. Might list them and see what happens.
Counted my squares and Ive done 97. but they are only 5 rows so small ones. Will need a lot more before I can construct it.
I don't find them boring cos the colour changes help for variety.

The fireworks are still on at this stage. So Ill be taking good care of my girl later.

Hope everyone is well

Morning all.
I hope everyone is ok.
Well the fireworks went off last night. Missy hid under my bed, was only the big booms that she popped out with big eyes for.

My back is bad again, annoying really, Im over it. So Ill just sit and cochet.

I think its time I knitted something. I have soo many pretty variegated yarns so might look out a simple pattern later.

Have a good day everyone

morning :) We're on a countdown to Mrk's carpel tunnel op tomorrow, he can't wait! He has so many woodworking projects lined up lol including some gorgeous wee wooden boxes for a bride and groom to give as gifts to their bridal party. And a couple of boxes for me to keep 'stuff' in lol. I saw these trendy boxes in a rather trendy shop for a rather hefty price, went home, and Mrk was already building one for Maddy lol. He had nooo idea they were all 'the rage' in this shop lol. So after this op, he'll be able to create without having to stop by midmorning as his wrist is too sore to carry on. I'm over the you tube videos on woodworking lol. I guess he is feeling the same as I do when I want to knit or sew something and don't have all the materials!

Our cats (when we had them) hated fireworks too popeye and the Furry One just barks and barks. He tries to be big and brave lol.

Looks like another wet day today so I think after my trip into town I'll do the ironing (blurkkk!!) then create!

Happy knitting :)

Im just an obsever in this thread as cant knit due to hand pain so my ears pricked up when I read your hubby has carpel tunnel, I hope you dont mind my questions but how long has he been waiting to have them op'd on? And is he going private or public. Im sure I have it and its getting worse the pain is by my thumbs and now goes up the arm and across the shoulder, a girl at work has had it one hand is fine the other she still gets pain. TIA

thanks raej and popeye :) Just hope the wind dies down a bit!

kiwiscrapper, I don't mind you asking at all. The pain you describe is pretty much the pain he has had for around 2 years now and our doctor has been giving him cortisone (sp) injections which helped for a while. Gradually though it has gotten worse to the point where he has his wrist in a splint. Our doctor referred him to Waikato Hosp for surgery at the beginning of the year and he had one appointment around June only to be told it wasn't bad enough. Around about a month ago he had had enough so phoned Waikato Hosp and asked to be moved up the list or at least thought of if there was a cancellation. A week or so back he got a call and a follow up letter telling him to come in for a pre-op check in. And tomorrow is the day! BUT he wasn't allowed any more cortisone injections from June which has made life very difficult over the past few months.

Hope this helps, and I wish you all the best with your treatment.

Thanks for your answers, maybe mines not as bad as I think but is getting hard to lift my right arm above shoulder height so,will visit GP, I have a huge phobia of needles even at 60 I still want to hide under the table like when I was a child!! your husband will be thankfull it will be over soon then, and I hope all goes well and its a speedy recovery.

kiwiscrapper - I had carpel tunnel probs years ago and did a specific exercise which fixed it, and when it does play up at odd times, I just start doing the exercise again - it never stopped me lifting my arm up though.

Morning everyone.
That carpel tunnel sounds horrible Kiwimade... My doc wont let me have cortisone cos of the warfarin so MrK has been lucky.. Hope all goes well today and he mends soon. And doesn't rush things...

What a wild morning, bad wind at rain at 3am... I don't normally hear it but Missy thought 3am till 7am was a fun time to play.
Which is when I sleep my heaviest, so Im feeling like a wet dishrag this morning. I may partake in a nana nap later.

Had to duck up the road cos I didn't have the lawnmowing money. Told MrP I was getting bread, milk and a handgun with a silencer lol

I will wake her up when she is sleeping lol.

I started a wee shrug for Addy last night. In 3 ply. Took a little while to get used to using fine wool again. Im doing it in a variegated white with pink, blue lemon etc. Its just in garter stitch so its my no think at night when watching tv.
And Ill carry on crocheting in the day. Ive done 105 of the 196 I want to do.

Well have a good day everyone

Morning all,
Returned from a lovely warm Tonga - perfect weather about 23o during day and dropping to cool enough for a blanket at night - to a cold and very windy NZ. Looks like a nice day here today though.

Looks like you all have been busy over past couple of weeks, hope the carpel tunnel is all sorted for Mr K. we don't realise how important different joints are until they aren't working properly.

Did a couple of pairs of socks while away and used up the left overs for prem hats for the hospital in Tonga. As it was so awful yesterday I dyed a couple of lots of wool but then had an idea in the night so have another lot in vinegar getting ready to dye. Trouble is once dyed I just can't wait to knit it to see how it will look but have a cardy for Italian great niece on the go so better finish that first, they come home to NZ most years so collect her next size of knit wear so need to be a bit ahead.

Off to get some work done in the garden while weather nice and hopefully to the dump today as have big pile which needs to go then relax with the needles.

Have a happy and safe day everyone

hi ladies :) Well we made it home. Had some drama with the surgeon cancelling MrK's surgery because they thought his INR was too high. So we insisted they do a full blood test rather than use those fancy-nancy hand held gadgets (like what diabetics use) as we knew his level was spot on from a blood test yesterday afternoon. And low and behold, we were right so they rushed him in and did the surgery. The nurses were amazed at the difference in readings and it reminded them that full blood tests are often better! We knew it was 1.1 but the hand held gadget said 1.6. But all over now, MrK is sleeping with the Furry One curled up beside him. It all went well thank goodness.

No knitting for me today, my sister was at the hosp too so I was helping her as well.

Am going to put my feet up with a glass of something.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Oh that's annoying Carole, cant have been as many meters on the green wool.
I did my 4 squares yesterday and did some on the shrug, its sooo pretty with is delicate colours.. The pattern says 1x 100grm, so I chose the one I had two balls of... Wasn't taking any chances of running out. And being 3ply its sooo delicate.
Took a pill to sleep last night, which of course means Im achy from laying in one spot so long lol.. but I do feel refreshed.
Hope MrK is ok this morning..post surgery.

I see Deramores now has a wishlist... Im soo pleased cos Ive thought they needed one from the start.
Not that I need any yarn for now. Im keeping busy but the stash is always growing lol

Have a good day everyone

morning :) I've just finished mowing the lawns, I missed out yesterday when it was lovely and fine and thought I had better get it done before the showers hit. Rain started as I put the mower away :P

MrK is fine, even cooked his breakfast! Some things he will need help with but for the past few weeks he has been using his left hand more and more so he is managing fine. Friday his bandages can come off too.

I just have dishes to do and have my shower and need to pop into town. I forgot a few things yesterday when at the supermarket (in between mrK and my sister's hospital visits) as I just rushed round. No wonder I was shattered last night lol.

I'll have to have another peek at the Deramores site, I like the idea of a wish list.

Happy knitting :)

Morning

Good to hear that Mr K is doing well and will make such a difference having both hands useable again.

Been dyeing wool again, did a lot of DK which I was so keen to see how it knitted that I started as soon as it was dry, now have 2 lot of sock wool to knit up but they will have to wait until I finish the couple of things I already have on the go.

Promising us strong winds again today so have washing on line so hopefully will dry before it blows away.

morning ladies, it's a bit miserable here this morning, sort of "damp" but not exactly raining.

Won't be buying any yarn for a while, as I had to take puss to the vet yesterday, she is so skinny and not eating. Vet has taken urine and blood samples and sent them away for testing, given her subcutaneous fluids as she was dehydrated despite always drinking lots of water, her pulse was high, temperature low and she has some glucose in her very pale urine (vet said it's not much more than water) and that cost me $288 after the pet club discount! Should get the results of the tests late this morning. Hope it's something that is easily treated.

Hope everyone is well and keeping up the craft work

Have fun.

morning ladies :) MrK is pottering about in the kitchen making his breakfast again so I think we can say the op was hugely successful.

Poor puss kuaka, I hope it is easily treatable, she must be feeling miserable (like your wallet!). Don't we get attached to our animals.

I woke at 2.00am to the smell of plastic burning. No smoke so the alarm didn't go off but an awful smell. The heater we use down the hallway was 'crackling' and smelling so I turned it off. Heaven knows what could have happened if I hadn't woken. I've cut the cord off and it's being dumped today. Can still smell it even with the doors and windows open.

Hope everyone has a good day, happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-10-09 08:45:00
5874

Sounds like you've had a lucky escape kiwimade! I'm pleased to hear Mr K is making progress, and that the op was successful. Yes, I'm dreading getting the test results that she is diabetic although the vet says she is very young to have kidney problems or diabetes and is hoping it's just a urinary tract infection. Fingers crossed.

And your comment reminds me that we don't have any smoke alarms fitted - we do have some sitting in the sideboard waiting to be fitted, but they don't work very well in there! We must get on to it.

kuaka - 2014-10-09 08:55:00

Morning everyone.
Oh wow Kuaka hope Puss is going to be ok.. Have they ruled out diabetes?

Heck Kiwimade that's not good re the heater, glad you woke up... And just goes to show you have proved the "People" wrong.. They always say you cannot smell things burning in your sleep.. I know I can

Very sore this morning even tho Ive had meds. Just feeling miserable today.. Not that it will be noticed...

HAve to get a little shopping, picking up meds and then home again and I wont be doing much.
My bed is far to comfortable lol

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-10-09 09:01:00
5876

yeah I always thought that too popeye, but the smell definitely woke me. Mind you, it's a realllyyy bad smell! Have taken all the stainless steel screws out of it for MrK to reuse (or hoard in his mancave!) MrK thinks it could have caught fire if I hadn't turned it off. So check your fire alarms ladies, you just never know.

Morning
Another lovely day here but so far seem to have got stuck knitting as I want to get the little top I'm doing finished so can start some socks.

Good thing you woke Kiwimade what a worry, I put new battery in smoke alarm this year it's something you intend to do but somehow don't get around to it.

Hope cat is on the mend Kuaka

Not good news on the puss front - she's got kidney problems and the choice is put her on a special diet or put her to sleep. She's not 6 yet, so looks like she's going on a diet, I'm not ready to let her go yet. I've got a "non-replacement" policy so this is the last in a long line of cats. Not feeling very happy at the moment.

kuaka - 2014-10-09 12:25:00
5879

Ohh Kuaka, not great news... Yes still a young cat. Hopefully she will improve.
You will know if it gets worse when its the right time. None of us like our animals suffering.

HAve done the shopping but have to go back cos I forgot vegemite and I forgot to take a tm sale with me..

Have had a second lot of painkillers which have helped.. We have also cleared the air a little... So hopefully its back to normal now.

Have done four squares for today, so will get some done on the shrug after I get off here.

carolev - 2014-10-09 13:05:00

Thanks for that Carolev -I hope that's not problems with the new car??

Puss has just been back to the vet, had more "subcutaneous" fluids, antibiotic injection, anti-nausea injection, and an injection of anobolic steroids, and has already perked up a bit, and is chomping merrily on her new cat food, so fingers crossed.

Not sure how much today's visit will be, but we've decided she's such a special list cat, we're prepared to spend to have her with us a while longer. If she was 12 or 15 I'd probably think differently, but she should be in her prime, and she's so affectionate.

Glad to hear she is feeling happier Kuaka.

Ive just called about the free desexing in our local newspaper. Hopefully we will be able to be on this one. Ill kick up a fuss if they don't allow cats from here, cos its our local paper too but is franklin wide.

Ive been back up the road, got MrP some mushrooms to go with his steak.. haven't had steak for ages... is Aussie grown lol... but got some at $3 a piece. And got a tray of Hoki for $3-66 and its enough for both of us. So that will give us a change.
I don't know how families with kids can afford to eat much meat these days.

Im going to put my feet up for 20 mins while MrP watches Hawaii 5-0 and then get tea sorted.

have a good night everyone

It's taken all day with doors and windows open and I think the smell has gone, thank goodness it was a fine day today.

Didn't get any knitting or crafty stuff done as I've sent off five job applications. Now to sit back and wait...

Good to hear puss is perkier kuaka, I think we would have made the same choice. As you say, she's a youngster and plenty of life in her yet.

Hope that's not the new car carole, what a pain in the proverbial.

happy knitting :)

Housework today and a trip to the library. MrK's bandages come off today :)

Morning everyone.

Not a good time for all our furry ones just of late.. Hope cleo will pick up Carole.

Awesome news Kiwimade for your Son.. Must be heart breaking to study hard and then not find a job at the end of it.

Another quiet day here. Pain isn't quite as fierce today.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-10-10 09:31:00

I feel quite miserable today, runny eyes and blocked nose, told Mr K that it might be his turn to look after me 'cos if I feel much worse, I'm going back to bed this afternoon - have to go to the vet and pick up the special dietary biscuits for puss first.

It's cold and wet and I'm trying to light the woodfire, not very successfully as I don't have any kindling and the firelighters keep fizzling out before the wood takes hold. Got the heat pump on but I thought the fire would cheer us up.

Great day for knitting, but I don't really feel like it.

Sorry to hear about Cleo Carolev but great news about your son Kiwimade!

Roll on summer.

Have a good day everyone.

Hope you feel better soon Kuaka. I don't get any sympathy here if Im sore. My pain is Never as bad as his. So if MrK looks after you Im glad.

I will get MrP to rub some ostegel on me later, if he will.. And see if that helps

popeye333 - 2014-10-10 09:49:00
5889

I have to admit my Mr K is very good on the rare occasion when I'm not well, even if his cooking skills aren't up to cordon bleu standards, it's perfectly adequate and I know if I had to spend a few days in bed, I wouldn't starve to death. He's actually quite a good nurse and always very caring and concerned, and does his best to make me feel better.

Maybe I just need to take it easy for a couple of days. Fingers crossed it's just a cold.

kuaka - 2014-10-10 10:27:00
5890

MrP was good after my heart surgery for about a week.. After that the novelty wore off.
He can cook, but I don't trust him to do it now incase he has a shaking fit.

Hes rubbed some ostegel into my back. don't know that's its done anything,. Ive taken an oxycontin. I normally only use them when in severe pain. And I was just over it this morning. So Im pleasantly relaxed lol.

Finally the wind has died down here enough to have windows open.

I think Ill be having a snooze this afternoon. I have done 4 squares. worked out if I only do four squares a day it will be just under 20 days. Then Ill start making up the rows.
Then it will depend on how fast I go as to if I get the blanket joined before it gets too warm or not. Probably will do it cos I cant wait to see how it will look lol

Ive had a 2 hour sleep, and feel a bit better. Will have pain meds in an hour or so, don't want to overload.

Feeling a bit better today, so Ill do a little housework over the space of the day.
Ive figured out why Im in pain,as every joint is aching too. I haven't had any fish oil for a while. so will pop up the road and get some. It really does help the joints.
Miss counted and I have done 121 squares so that's pleasing.

A box of squares is being dropped off at some stage so that will mean more joining up. I actually miss it lol.

Hope all the cats are on the mend.. Hope MrK's hands are doing well.

afternoon ladies :) happy 21st to your granddaughter carole, is she celebrating?

It's a beautiful day here, washing is almost dry. MrK has his bandages off and is very independent which is awesome. He needs help with only a few things like opening a jar or using scissors but that won't be for much longer. Amazing what a small operation like carpel tunnel can do and the difference it makes.

I'm going to go through my patterns and find something to knit or crochet. I've been stitching lately and want a change.

happy knitting :)

Its been a glorious day. Washing is in and folded. Just not put away yet.

I feel soo much better for seeing the sun.

Ill get 8 squares done today so that's good. Done 6 so far. Ends sewn in on 4. I don't like leaving them till theres a lot .

I was the same Kiwimade, have been crocheting blankets and squares so long I needed some knitting. So I'm doing a wee shrug for Addison. Its soo pretty. the colours show better than I thought they would. Just something very light (3ply) for if they go out at night.

Glad to hear MrK is doing well... Its just a matter of cutting tendons or something isn't it? Ive heard its simple but makes a world of difference.

Having pork chops and potato bake for tea. I reckon it might be the last potato bake.. its getting warmer now so don't need something soo hot lol..

Have a good night everyone

I believe the carpel tunnel op can go drastically wrong and not be at all successful, so I was advised against it,so I'm pleased to hear that Mr K's op appears to have gone according to plan.

Our little puss is hanging in but she's definitely not 100%, more like about 50%, but she doesn't appear to be suffering so we'll keep hanging in with her, and do all we can. Vet suggested she might like some canned tuna so I went and got some today, well she licked the oil off it and turned her nose up at the actual tuna. Bugger!

kuaka - 2014-10-11 18:35:00
5898

Morning everyone.
Gone is the sun, its hiding again...

Lol Kuaka the sneaky things.. I bet if you had the tuna on your plate she would want to eat it. MIssy seems to be enjoying Bikkies more than soft food at the mo.

Ive decided its time to downsize somewhat.. we have stuff in wardrobes etc that we haven't used since we got here. And that's over 10 years. So Im going to start getting rid of it. I have a huge dinnerset in one wardrobe that we haven't used in about 12 years. So when Im feeling a little stronger I get stuff out.
Also going to go through my wardrobe, theres a lot I got from the oppy that Ive never worn, so it can go back... I mean does One person Really need a double and single wardrobe full of clothes? lol OOPS.

But for today I think ill be crocheting.

Have an awesome day everyone

morning ladies :) Beautiful day here too, am going outside soon as I have a few things I want to potter with.

Sounds like it's time for a declutter popeye, I've been doing that over the past 12 months. The house 'feels' better, if that makes sense.

Omg kuaka, aren't cats fussy... our Furry One would have demolished that can of tuna lol... it's not even like you could eat the tuna after! Oh well, the fish oil will be good for her. Just as well we love the little buggars lol.

We were told the risks of surgery kuaka but the surgeon told us it was 'minimal'. MrK decided anything had to be better than the way he was. New dressing for him today.

Hope everyone can get some knitting done.

Happy knitting.
