Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies and oldbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for oldbies and newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions.
No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again.

I didn't bid on that 19471/2 C in perfect condition. But the good news is that the coin is not lost to this country. I expect we will see it again soon, in a week or two, on trademe, for hmmmm ..., about $250, asking price, I'm guessing.

If you got thousands did they come in the sealed cardboard box of $500 or just loose rolls? I was really hoping to get a full box

I placed my order on the day they appeared for sale (before the 2 per person limit was imposed) mine arrived today. All loose rolls (100) unfortunately.. Fighting the temptation to open up a few.

I am surprised they have been out 4 days and we have still not seen one at the branch I work at I guess everyone is just holding on to them. Also surprising that a lot of retailers do not know about them

who is selling on LIST SELL TRADE ???? !!!!
trade me has some serious opposition and should get real with their
policies on in trade sellers, selling of forgeries, etc

Interesting Idea that will appeal to larger sellers with the reduced fees and Great for those that already have websites with products listed and that the listselltrade site will update from your website daily (up to 5000 items).

The real question for me will be are items on that site going to be cheaper to draw in buyers. The other concern for me would be if they allow unlimited listings it becomes to hard to look at all the new items being listed and then turns people away. This is already happening on Tm and other sites with some large sellers (mainly international) flooding categories and turning people away and to the likes of Facebook buy and sell pages. As far as the policies on replicas forgeries etc the policies similar to trademe and items have to be reported by members for them to review so I guess we will have to wait and see how they deal with it.

Good luck to them as some real competition is needed after most other sites have closed down

Finally my Anzac coins arrived on Saturday delivery.

Something worth noting is that the 2009 50 cent coins are still being released in rolls to the banks and now we have the 2015 Anzac rolls released before the 2014 50 cent coins have made it to circulation

More likely the ones that have identified themselves as intrade and not paying tax. Its all a waste of time the companies that need to be caught have already found ways to separate sales between multiple accounts. yes they will make an example of some people but the smart ones will continue to make use of the flaws in trademes policies.

In hind sight I should have kept my company name and gst number and used it to grow my collection then worked out how to depreciate it over time while charging the company rent power etc. I dont plan to make money from my hobby and spend 100 times what I do make from selling items anyway

What worries me is the risk that those who have tried to do everything right will get nabbed over a minor slip, simply because their information is all out there, with no additional disclosure needed.

For those that have tried to do everything right one would think they may let it slide with some friendly advise. They would really be after those that make no attempt at all

Jason we are waiting for your lead and expertise LOL. Have you seen there are some rolls that have Queens Head or Anzac Reverse only side [showing both ends], it appears most show both ends [per roll]. Wonder what the ratio is, and whether that really will make a price difference. Perhaps I should send you my box of coins to go through - very tempting, as I'd go cross eyed looking through. Talk went very well, I will send you info. Thanks for advising dad re your thoughts on other site, sound advice, cheers.

Hey Lois. I had heard you presentation was fantastic so well done :-) Did they record it in the end?

As for the rolls the coins are always mixed up in them so the nzpost picture was a bit unrealistic when ordering. I would expect a roll with the Queen side on one end with the reverse at the other end of the roll would be more popular. I tend to put more rolls like that aside for all years than any other but still trying to negotiate with a security company to deliver me a few boxes when they dont have to just be supplied from NZPost sometime next month hehe.

So far just a few metal cud errors n the reverse but nothing really exciting so far

As for faults there are a few small

As for faults there are a few small metal cuds on the reverse and weak strikes on the queens hair resulting in gaps in the design but still have not searched a huge amount as organizing a 5yr old bday party for my daughter tomorrow

darn it!!

I was watching this 1947 florin, but the auction ended early with a buy now option, which either I missed (unlikely) or was offered only recently.

But the good news is that this coin in not lost to NZ, and I suspect we will see it in a week or two on trademe, for hmmm ...$250 asking price, I'm guessing. This and the 1947 1/2 C.

Yes they did film - I put in a request to photo shop me beforehand! I am glad that the feedback was positive, talk a bit long, but I think quite informative and new information which was appreciated from comments I received afterwards. RNSNZ is such an awesome organisation, so it was a bit nerve wracking to speak to such a prestigious group of very knowledgeable brilliant individuals, who are also very down to earth and humble souls. See you had a brilliant article in the Journal, so glad your research has been appropriately archived. No doubt the birthday party will go down well and a good time for you to rest those eyes, catch up with you soon, cheers

Spent an ANZAC 50 cent in the supermarket today. The young girl had never seen one so referred it to a senior assistant who OKed it. I told them they should keep it (put an ordinary one in the till first) but neither seemed interested. Cheers, Taidhg

got my coins yesterday, they are better looking than expected. glad i only ordered 4 loose ones... they were all together in a bubble wrap bag.
the ones in the pack you can register online and receive a certificate of authenticity. one of my packs is going overseas and when i tried to register it came with a validation error. got the same message again after filling out their online enquiry form, so have emailed instead lol.

You need something inert that won't react with the coins - mylar flips seem to be the best thing so far. Tony Grant (acw-nz) sells them.
