Could anyone tell me what a 1979 Provincial 20 cent C.P P 933 92 92 stamp is worth. I think these are th right numbers.

If anyone has an idea, would be great, my father passed away and he collected stamps all his life, I want to sell his collection for what its worth. Not sell to dealers etc.

Auction Number 725695623

The seller must be 'over the moon' with the bids on these.
$22.50 bid on items which are worth about 50cents each!

Phil I see they ended up selling for $31.50, the vendor will be rapt. The reserve was $1.

Does anyone know rarity and/or value of a 1995 america's cup FDC but with what appears to be a Peter Blake Cal and Steinlager cancellation in additon to normal cancellation?

hmmm yes, tempted to soak all FDC's as they seem to be worth less than used copies of the stamps themselves in many cases.

problem is first day covers are not sent through mail and postmark is considered CTO canceled to order

sakkara - 2014-05-23 07:40:00

always wondered what CTO stood for LOL. Yes, I collect used and dont consider CTO as "used". Snobby of me I know, but have repleaced CTO ones in my book with actual postally used. You see a few advertised as FU and you get them and find they are CTO which can be frustrating. still appears epople are prepared to pay more from CTO cancelled sets than the FDC though....which is strange. But some very strange things happen with pricing on TM at times.

bca - 2014-05-23 08:40:00

It's disappointing to see that some traders on here advertise material as 'Fine Used' when in fact, it's actually CTO.
Some of these traders are long-time and I believe that some are even dealers.
Surely it doesn't take much to put 'CTO' in the ads.
I think that modern genuine fine used stamps of $1 or more face value should command a premium.
Either that or CTO should be sold at lower prices.

I think that as long as the mail actually goes through the postal system, that's fine.
It's when the stamps have come off Philatelic Bureau 'FDCs' but are advertised as 'Fine Used' that annoys me.

phil.s - 2014-05-23 16:38:00

As previously stated CTO stands for cancelled to order. Sometimes these postmarks are printed rather than applied. Most NZ Post FDC's from Wanganui have their postmarks printed on while those at the Real Aotearoa outlets are applied by hand which is much preferable. There is also a term called "Cancelled per Favour" when a hand datestamp is applied on request and these are popular and acceptable.
IMO a stamp with a postmark and still having gum on the back is undesirable but anything which has passed thru the mail is acceptable.

kiwisteven - 2014-05-24 22:19:00

IMO a Philatelic Bureau FDc with a printed postmark can't be called fine used as it hasn't been used at all.

brunomac has absolutely buggered stamp sales on trade me. He continues to offer items at massive discount. Obviously selling for charity as items are being sold/offered at massive cheap prices. Would be interested in others comments. My sales have stopped as a result. Competition is competition I know but stupidness is buggering for all.

I could nto even find the seller.....I think people pay whats fair for them and their circumstances. I know epople on here bid on my auctions, sometimes get them, most fo the time they dont as others pay more. Thats fine, Some trade and need margin to re-sell, so cant pay too much. Others tarde and collect, some just collect.

well see what happens, me being me, need to clear what I have purchased and dont want for the collection, so I can buy more.

Any ideas on values in the CTO issued postcards? Had not seen them before this lot I got. Donaldo, you should find some cheap postage if you look carefully in next few days.
