I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

morning :) Well they couldn't find anything wrong with my car! or the battery! Crazy! Just as well it's not the alternator kuaka, the auto sparky said the last one he replaced cost $600 without the labour. So MrK has put another battery in the boot of my car with the jumper leads and given me a lesson how to use them 'just in case'. I feel daft lol but it eases my mind. The auto sparky said I should be fine, but he said that last time!

Sad news about our craft/wool shop, it's closing down. Hard to compete price wise with online and bigger chain shopping.

Hope you all get time to knit today, happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Ohh that's baffling re the car Kiwimade.. Hope that it just doesn't happen again.. Silly cars can be a worry eh.
Not good re the wool shop shutting down, but understandable too really. There is a wool shop in Pukekohe but her prices are far to high.

Sounds like you have a busy day Kuaka have fun.. MrP is always negative about appointments like that too.

And Carol MrP hasn't seen his grandkids (Unsure how many there are now) for hmm probably 22-23 years, so he could even be a great grandfather and we just don't know. You do get used to it eventually.

Couldn't get my mind to shut down after the funeral etc yesterday so took a pill to sleep.. Heard from my friends mum too, so had heaps going around in my mind.

Will be starting a new blanket today...Im going to work your squares in this time Carole. Just had to wait for colours it will look cool with. I have plenty to chose from now. I want to highlight them, as I don't get many knitted ones.

Have to go get a few things at supermarket..

Have a good day everyone

Well we had a very useful visit to this particular specialist today, he went through very carefully the x-ray and ct scan pics and pointed out on them (and on a skeleton) exactly where the break is, and showed us that it hasn't healed, but he also said that the ct scan should have been done with the collar removed, so that the break would show more clearly. He is going to suggest a follow up scan in another 6 months to see if there is any healing finally taking place, and is also going to suggest a tailor-made collar rather than the off-the-shelf one which Mr K has been using to date.

Went from there to the emporium and then to Spotlight where I bought some sewing machine oil and some fabric which was on special at $4 a metre, and a few other things, only to get home and find that I'd been charged $8 a metre for some of the fabric and $10 for the rest. Thought it came to more than I had "guestimated" but I know it quickly adds up. Phoned and am waiting for someone to phone me back tomorrow. It's nice fabric but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known it was twice the price and some.

Think I'll have an early night as I didn't get much sleep last night.

Night all.

kuaka - 2014-09-25 21:35:00
5804

morning :) oohhh a tailor-made collar will be much more comfortable kuaka. Sounds like this specialist was onto it all. What a buggar about being overcharged, especially as you had shopped out of town.

I'm baking the birthday cake today after I have done housework and need to wrap Maddy's presents. MrK has made her some wooden blocks and a gorgeous box to keep them in. Our daughter asked if he could make some as they are so expensive to buy - even from the Warehouse. I wouldn't mind if MrK made me a similar box lol.

The Furry One is a happy camper as our son is home (yes popeye, he's asked for mac 'n cheese lol). Will save an extra 45 minutes on our trip tomorrow by not picking him up. Will drop him home though at the end of the day.

We have a wedding invite for next March, am soo excited! I was thinking of stitching a hardanger cloth as a wedding present. Will ask my friend whose son is getting married if it is something they would like.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and squeezes in some knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Glad the meeting was productive Kuaka.. is MrK feeling any more positive?
Trouble being that old bones don't heal fast eh Hope the new collar will make him more comfortable.
And chase spotlight too if they don't ring..

The pressies sound good Kiwimade, lucky Maddy and it will be a lovely set to keep passing down the family... Yum at Mac cheese lol

Hope you do see your grandies Carole.

Housework for me today. Washing is on... Ill vac when Ive had a wee look on here. Will put MrP on the dishes. Might even hang the washing out for a change since its fine and enough wind to dry it but not blow it away.

Have done 3 rows of a large square blanket, yours are in it Carole. Will only take another day or so to finish. Then Ill be doing a small square one.

No Wool Kuaka? lol

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-09-26 09:14:00

no wool at Spotlight, but I did get some acrylic at the emporium - not that I "need" it!

kuaka - 2014-09-26 11:17:00

housework is done, birthday cake is baked and cooling ready for icing and mac 'n cheese has been made for mrK's and son's lunch. All from scratch with a bit of bacon tossed in.

One birthday pressie is wrapped, three to go lol The little dog I knitted a while back for maddy now has a tartan bow and looks quite spiffy. I'll take a pic and post it after the party. MrK has almost finished his wooden box and the large photo montage is all done. I've gathered up the few New World minis I have and popped them in a plastic bag to take with us. Daughter has asked for them and will put them away until Maddy is bigger. Don't have many as we shop at Pack n Save but have a few from last year. Have also gathered up all the bits and pieces left behind from the last visit.

Time for some lunch and then some knitting I think. Hope everyone is enjoying their day :)

5809

A productive day for you Kiwimade.

Ive done my floors and washing, MrP didn't even need asking today to do the dishes.
Have joined one row of squares and joined the row to the blanket. One row to do. Then Ill probably just put a single row of trebles around the edge.

Trying to send pictures to my niece. She did an update on her comp and lost nearly 2500 photos. Ive tried to message her and tell her to ask everyone to send pics they have saved back to her. And Fb aint working for me.
Trouble is the email I have doesn't work. So Ill have to wait till Fb works properly and get a different email.

Gosh popeye, sounds very complicated, and to be avoided if you can. Had a phone call from Spotlight this morning and after quite a long conversation, was told they would get back to me later in the morning, so I said I would be out and could they phone in the afternoon. Fine. Afternoon arrived and was halfway through and I thought "well they won't bother" but they did phone, said they had found the "bin" which still had the $4 a metre tag (which apparently wasn't supposed to be there) but they are going to do a refund - which is great. $24 is better in my pocket than theirs.

Morning everyone.
Good to hear re Spotlight Kuaka.. not good re the non sleeping tho both of you.
I slept too well and am sore now.
Decided I would order a red and white kettle from fly buys and go and get it this morning. but they have sold out... B*gger.. should have done it a couple of days ago. Im slowly getting all my china etc in red with white spots and it would have blended in.

Finished the big square blanket yesterday. Will lay out a small one today. So I have four done now.

Maybe we might nip around the garage sales, Nah.. too much getting in and out of the car lol... Think Ill stay home and save money lol.

Have a good day everyone

here's a pic of the birthday girl wearing the pink cardy I knitted - already a bit too small!

Morning everyone.Gave up trying to use the lappy it can sulk all day if it wants lol.
Lovely set Carole.
Lovely pic of Maddy Kiwimade. Pretty colour on the cardy. Do we get to see the knitted dog now?

Have wrestled with the large piece of hogget to get it in crockpot. But its smelling yummy now.

Will be back to the blanket shortly.

Have a good day everyone

oh he is cute kiwimade!

kuaka - 2014-09-28 16:13:00
5821

Awwwe hes cute.. I bet Maddy loved him...

Gosh its a day of all seasons today. Started warm with no sleeves, changed to go up to sop, home to long sleeves and slippers and back to the no sleeves now. lol

Our tea smells wonderfull. Had to take the meat out of the crockpot before it fell apart. Heaps of gravy and roasties cooking now.

Have constructed another blanket. And have done one row of trebles and now doing a sort of frilly bit, done like the flowers on the buttons. Its making it a bit frilly. Will finish it tonight while watching Call the Midwife and Place called home.

Lappy seems to be working well now... temperamental things.. its male of course lol

popeye333 - 2014-09-28 16:26:00
5822

oh popeye, I wish I had cooked the little piece of lamb I bought at New World on Thursday in the crockpot, I "roasted" it in the electric frying pan - as I do most of my "roasts" and I swear it would have been better used for shoe leather. Never mind, I minced the leftovers with carrot and onion and made a shepherd's pie today and it was yummy and there's enough left for yesterday, so tomorrow's tea is easy, just reheat and cook some veg.

Busy day today, clean sheets and duvet covers on the bed, went for a long walk, did some gardening and finished a baby blanket. Wish the flipping fairies would play the game a bit more and do a few jobs around the house. I suppose I should be grateful that I'm not still chopping kindling and lugging firewood up the steps to the house - it's not cold enough to need the woodfire. Roll on summer I say, if I could wave a magic wand, I would dispense with winter altogether!!!!

Maybe the lappy just needs ignoring for a while, ignore it and it can't help itself, males hate being ignored, so of course it will behave if you ignore it.

morning :) Thanks for the kind comments on the dog, he is soft and squishy so quite cuddly for Maddy.

I've been asked to help my friend out in her shop again as she has a huge order to get out so looks like this week is going to be busy. Off to Auckland Airport on Saturday to pick dad up after his 'wintering' in Brisbane. He was saying it's getting up to 29 degrees there already so he wants to come home.

I'm off out into the garden while the sun is out and then into town with my guitar to have it restrung for me (I'm left handed). Should learn how to do it myself :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Lol your right re the lappy Kuaka. Touch wood its working today so far.

I always do lamb, hogget, beef in the crockpot. I butterfly chicken to roast in the electric frying pan. And I do pork in the pan too. Not sure how that would taste from the crockpot. We will be having left overs tonight.

I don't feel so flash today. Maybe picked up some bugs at the funeral the other day. We don't often be in the company of a lot of people.

Finished the blanket last night, will take photos later. Have enough little squares for another. But Ill see how I feel as to whether I start that today.

Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone.
Ohh thanks Kuaka the comp is working well now. Yippeeeee

Dilligaf isn't it funny how we have fav places for pies. Ours is a bakery at Drury just before Papakura. They are Sooo good. $3-80 for a potato top but its well worth it. The potato is really thick. And the mince has to be nice for me to eat it.

We both still have this horrible bug that's going around. My friend also has it she only did half her shift at work yesterday. Its just soo draining.

I crochet a couple of flowers yesterday.. A simple thing for some but I hadn't done it before. Im thinking once Ive used all my odd bits for my blanket, the even smaller odd bits that are left will end up being flowers. I can see a cushion covered in them lol.

Have an awesome day everyone Its lovely out there

afternoon ladies :) Good news about your car carole :)

I've spent the morning off and on outside weeding, almost there. Have just under a third of the way to go. Washing hung out and brought back in, so time for lunch and a sit down I think.

MrK has heard from the hospital and he gets his carpel tunnel op on Tuesday. Now to work on his cataracts lol. He has a plan for his medication to get his INR down low so they can do the surgery.

Sorry to hear you aren't well popeye, hope things improve for you.

happy knitting :)

Tis a lovely day out there.

Went up the street and was shattered by the time I got home lol... Ill keep pottering tho it gets things done even if its slowly.

Hope MrK can get his INR to where it needs to be pre-op. It can be a nuisance really sometimes.
SIL only stayed longer in Hosp cos they wanted her INR back to normal before she left. Since she lived so far away from Auck hospital.. As in Waverly down by Wanganui.

Have done one row on the blanket lol... It wont be a two day job, this one lol

popeye333 - 2014-10-01 12:33:00

he should be fine popeye, he has some Vitamin K to take if it's not right and that will knock it down.

Im feeling a bit better today, the coughing has eased a little. And I don't feel as fuzzy in the head.

I managed to do 3 rows on the blanket yesterday. One to go. Then Ill do a few rows for the border cos its a bit small.
Im up to 80 squares on mine now...

HAve a good day everyone

morning ladies :) I've finished weeding the garden, dodged a few rain drops to do it but it's done (for now anyway lol). Housework almost done, just have the living room to do. MrK goes in for his carpel tunnel op Tues and I'm picking dad up from Auckland international airport tomorrow so want to get these things out of the way. Hate coming home to a 'messy' home.

Should be able to sit and knit/sew after lunch. Feel like I have earned the time too :)

I remember our daughter having an echo done popeye, was to try and get a reading on her epilepsy. The lights are verrryy low, just as well we can knit by feel isn't it!

Hope everyone is warm and dry today.

happy knitting :)

Hi all, home and dry. Poured after we got in the door.

Echo results in a couple of weeks.

Got me a new container to hold all my squares for my blanket. Out grew the box I had them in and MIssy likes to run off with them lol

Even managed to get through the trip without any moodys from MrP lol...

Now it can hose down for till Monday morning and Ill be happy. I want the fireworks cancelled lol

morning all. did 1 sleeve of the jumper last night.

carolev - 2014-10-04 07:04:00
5845

what fireworks popeye?

Nothing exciting happening here. Weather has been "ordinary" to say the least, yesterday we had lots of heavy showers and it was very windy so we didn't go for our walk, so far this morning the sun is shining, but we obviously had rain earlier as we now have the Herald drying out in front of the heater - grrrr!

I've put the zig-zag baby blanket aside and am busy knitting possum/merino gloves and scarf to send to my sister for her birthday next month. Done one glove so far, and started the second. I will have to email my niece and find out whether she would like proper gloves with fingers, or fingerless gloves, and if she would prefer the fingerless ones, would she prefer them to have little cut off fingers or just straight across the top type ones. I've got enough yarn to do several sets so I'll probably do a pair of each type and then email my niece a pic and let her decide and I'll keep one pair for me, and sell the other pair. It will keep me out of mischief for a few days.

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2014-10-04 08:32:00
5846

morning ladies :) gloves are on my 'to do' list and I even bought a book full of patterns and tips. Will have to give it a go. There's a cute pattern in it for fingerless gloves with a 'flip top' so you can fold over a top to make them into mittens.

I'm off to Auckland today, dad is coming home from Brisbane after wintering there. He ended up having an extra month there as he got sick and the doctors wouldn't let him fly. Going to be a rough trip by the looks of this weather. He's going to notice the temperature difference that's for sure... was getting up to a toasty 30 degrees!

Will take some knitting with me for something to do as he goes through customs.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Wow we have had a wild weather night here.. Strong winds and rain. Stil blowing a gale here
The fireworks is the big town display they have had for the last couple of years. Usually closer to guy fawkes. But I think its early cos the new world has been sold and they are the biggest sponsor, so going out with a bang.

Im not normally a jumpy person but the huge explosions they had the first year shook the house and my nerves lol.

Be glad to have your Dad back Kiwimade... He might have a rough landing.

I wish I could wear flash wools like possum etc but its just too warm for me. acrylic is enough on my hands lol.

Im going to bake today and put it back in the freezer. One is a bulk recipe and you add what flavours you want. The other is a healthy one, no dairy eggs etc.

Safe travelling Kiwimade.. and everyone else have a good day too

popeye333 - 2014-10-04 09:16:00
5848

Morning everyone.
What a wild day it was yesterday... but it did postpone the fireworks till today, so now it just needs to get worse later in the day.
Im not normally a party pooper but I don't like to think of all the scared animals.
I enjoyed my baking yesterday. got 130 bikkies. The no dairy eggs etc one are sure different. I wont make them again. They taste ok but not something Id do again.

Im going to get into my sewing room again today, time to list my sewing frames etc. Ill never use them. And I need to get to a box of books and that's going to take a bit of moving stuff.. And I have some mending to do while Im in there.
Hope your Dad is ok Kiwimade and your trip went well.

Have a good day everyone

morning :) yep trip went well thanks although a little hairy getting there with the strong winds. Could feel the car being lifted and blown across the road at some points. But my sister and I had a good nosey around Sylvia Park, picked dad up and came home. He's well and pleased to be home at last although talking about next years trip!

I'm catching up on yesterday's washing and then into town to buy some more potting mix and pick up some horsey-poo for my pots. Some need the soil replacing.

Then maybe some craft work this afternoon, will see how I go.

Happy knitting :)
