Morning everyone.. I'm First today.. hope everyone is ok.

friends arriving later today, will be neat to see them again. I remembered to tape Midwife and Place called home for them..

Have all but finished Mrs Claus.. Just have to do the Holly and Berries.. Im really pleased with this one. Her face looks right.

Then Ill be back to the little hoodie and the blanket.

Got a 40% off one item voucher from spotlight on Saturday, so may have to duck off the motorway on the way home tomorrow. Would be worth getting one of the large 300-400 grm balls of yarn.

Cloudy here, not cold but it is windy out there..

Have a good day Everyone

A really beautiful day here today - must have been cold overnight as all the windows were covered in condensation but now all blue and gold outside. After a week of rain it is very welcome I love how clean everything outside looks after rain.

Washing out and drying well,a bit of knitting done while having wake up coffee and now onto housework.

Then hope to get to skeinz to see if they have any naked sock wool in yet as have worked out how to make patterns so really keen to dye some more while the weather is so nice.

Happy handcrafts everyone

morning :) I've been outside finishing the lawns before I head off to our daughter's home tomorrow. Great to have them all done and my back feels great! Even emptying the catcher wasn't a bother. Must have been a pinched nerve.

And to top my morning off another mouse was caught. Well... squashed (icckk!!) The Furry One chased a little brown mouse under one of the couches... MrK lifted it a bit so he could sniff it out then dropped the couch back down... onto the mouse! So one squished and one trapped. And one the little buggars has chewed a hole under the couch. Can't see where all the stuffing came from though. So I think 'death by couch' is fitting.

Busy packing, I'm taking my external hard drive with me as I have lots of patterns stored digitally our daughter may like. Will get the needles out this afternoon :)

happy knitting :)

Just as well I didn't start packing lol, daughter phoned and said she is coping fine and lifted (grrrrrr!!!) our wee grandy today without any problems... but mum... can you bake her birthday cake please lol. And as soon as I hung up the phone, it went again with Waikato Hosp asking if MrK would like to go in for his preadmission check on Monday for his carpel tunnel op. Looks like my time away was meant to be cancelled :).

No knitting done this afternoon, popeye, Mrs Claus looks lovely! Well done!

Thanks Kiwimade...

Wow you certainly weren't meant to be travelling this week.

When is Maddies birthday is it nearly a year already? Mind you Addy's is November so shes getting close too. I have a fairy for her.

Ive done my Toy bit for now.. Back to the little hoodie and blanket now.

Well done on the mice... Maybe you need to get a sheet of very thin ply and staple to the bottom of the couch. Cheeky little toe rags.

morning :) had a late-ish call to teach yesterday which was a mad dash to get to school on time lol. Great kids though - I got lots of hugs at the end of the day. Kinda makes up for all the Nova Pay stuff ups over the past two years when you know how appreciated you are.

I've got some plants from the garden to drop off to a friend today, some grocery shopping and a few bills to pay before I can knit/sew today.

My 40% voucher from Spotlight arrived in my 'in box' yesterday. I need some embroidery fabric and thread as well as some wool so it is quite timely.

Better get my a into g and move or the morning will be gone before I know it.

Happy knitting :)

The voucher is handy eh Kiwimade, only on one item tho so use it on the most expensive.
I got a $13 ball of wool for $7-50

Was tired last night. but feeling good today.

Will go post Mrs Claus this morning and then come home and dig out stuff for the oppy.
And then back to the blanket later

Have a good day all

Morning eveyone. On my tablet again the lappy having hissy fits lol.

Don't have to go pick friends up today they are delayed for a bit.

So once I've done my shopping I can do the border on the blanket.

Story in our local rag about a blanket group in town, they did 200 blankets last year and have done 60 so far this year. They are wanting wol. Didn't evenknow we had the group here.

Looks like it will be a lovely day.

So have fun everyone

morning :) Gardening fay today, at least until it rains.

40% off wasn't to be sneezed at popeye. My most expensive purchase was a piece of linen for embroidery, was $32 and I got it for around $19. But what did annoy me was I spotted some gorgeous linen embroidery threads for what I thought was $1.50 each (from around $5 each!). Get to the counter with a fist full of them to find oh no, sorry, that price was for the threads 'above' the sign... umm... so why was the pricing sign to the side of the threads describing the threads I had in my hand. Then the lady mucked up the pricing on other items... oh well.

And I had to laugh when I left the store, I spent half an hour chatting to a lady I didn't know from a bar of soap lol. Thought of your other thread popeye, happens pretty much every time!

Happy knitting :)

morning ladies, I don't have a plan yet for today, we learned yesterday that our local Countdown closed yesterday so now we only have a Four Square shop and a new "mini Countdown" about the same size as the four square and almost directly opposite it, with just a few dedicated parking spaces for the Countdown and only street parking for the four square. I'm thinking I might go to Kerikeri today to do my shopping at New World. They do have a bigger selection and there's other things I need at the sewing shop (and I can have a quick peek at one of the oppies - especially if I don't drag Mr K along) but it's just the extra time it takes that bugs me - time I could be knitting. Oh well. Worse things happen at sea.

I got my spotlight voucher yesterday and we have a trip to Whangarei on the 25th which I think is the last day of the sale - I wonder if they will have any bargains left by then.

I've started another 10 stitch zig zag blanket in a lovely shaded yarn, in candy colours, for a baby. Looking good so far. I really enjoy knitting the zig zag one. Also got a crocheted one on the go, just doing granny square type and just going round and round till it's as big as I want it. Not keen on the colours, it's off white and pale green, but the green is really too pale. Never mind, don't suppose the baby will worry.

Have a good day everyone - we have more rain forecast, so that will be a change (not!)

kuaka - 2014-09-11 08:27:00

Kiwimade I had problems with them at spotlight too. I was at the counter at 1-10pm. They had signs up saying the moda vera was 50% off so I took some to the counter and the lady said it didn't start till yesterday.
I didn't take it
I called them yesterday and the lady said they normally put the signs up after 3 pm... So I looked at my docket to find it was 1-10pm.. So When we got up on sunday I will be pointing this out to them.
I wasn't impressed so I said I only wanted the one big ball I got.

You got a good buy tho Kiwimade.

Ohh Kuaka makes things hard shoppingwise eh. We have new world and then a small Supervalue with huge prices.. run by Indians who have to be the totally wrong people for a shop. they are soo rude, so I only go there in an absolute emergency.
Might be time for shopping less often buy buying in bulk for you.

Ive done a lemon round on the border and will do a pretty green one then another lemon on the blanket and then thats done.

Sunny here at the mo, but there are black clouds

popeye333 - 2014-09-11 12:17:00

Well we did a trip to Kerikeri and went to both Countdown (only been in that store once before and they have managed to rearrange things and the one thing that I wanted which used to be at the far left-hand end of the store is now tucked around the corner on the far right - no kidding!) and New World, and then ducked in to the sewing shop for the zip I forgot to get last time I was there. We were gone in total just over an hour and a half, but as his nibbs tagged along too I didn't get to the oppy. Also called in at the farmer's market on the way home, so all in all, it wasn't too bad. But, when Mr K used to drive, I used to sit and knit while we went anywhere, but now I have to drive everywhere. Never mind, I enjoy driving, except for the "nagging" passenger alongside me, who keeps giving me instructions!

kuaka - 2014-09-11 15:37:00
5721

They love to give "instructions" Mine has wonky eyes so thinks that I get to close to things.
But Id rather put up with his instructions than his driving lol.

I skipped the oppies on Tuesday, and wont get to see them this weekend either... **Sighs** lol

Just finished this blanket. I only have 2 WIPs now... the hoodie and my blanket which hasn't had any done for a couple of weeks.

I am going to miss her big time she was like a mum to me and a good friend for 46 years , she loved to see all my hand work.

Ohh Carole, Sorry for your loss. That's going to be a hard one to get through. best friends and longtime friends are hard to lose. Just remember all the lovely times you had together.

Sorry to hear your news carolev, I hope she didn't suffer.

Raining here (for a change) and looks like we might get quite a bit again. I guess that will mean we won't get out for a walk this morning, as Mr K won't go out if it's chucking it down (can't say I blame him), so I might be forced to do some tidying up, housework even, and maybe the ironing, then I can sit and knit guilt-free.

Have a great day everyone.

morning :) So sorry to hear about your friend carole, you must have known something to call in and see her the day before.

I'm back outside today, we have a cherry tree to cut down - it died over winter. MrK has finally conceded I didn't poison it lol as he knew I always thought it was in the wrong spot. Also want to move a huge piece of driftwood - going to be a fun day for my back!

I think by the time all that is done, I will have earned some knitting time!

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone,
Looks a bit gloomy out, have had a very light drizzle.

Im out to do my INR soon, clean forgot yesterday lol
Im still working on this wee hoodie but I think I will do some squares for my blanket today... More into crochet than knitting at the mo.
I have a design in my head for another blanket, I will write it down later so I don't forget and plan for it to do later.. as in when Ive bought enough wool to do it lol

Have a good day all

Gosh where is everyone this morning? I had a lie-in and I'm still first in here. Got up at 6.30 this morning 'cos Mr K informed me that the Herald was at the bottom of the driveway looking quite soggy, so I retrieved it, put it in front of the heater to dry out, made us both a cup of tea and went back to bed. Mr K got up soon after drinking his tea, so I fully expected him to bring me another, but no, I had to get up and make the second one too. Said it never occurred to him to bring me a cup. I swear he would die of thirst rather than make a cup of tea!

Not raining at the moment, and there's a wee patch of blue sky so not sure if the rain has gone, looking out the window in the other direction it's as black as night so probably not. Might be a good day for knitting. I did quite a bit last night, but yesterday afternoon I was so tired, I curled up on the sofa with a pillow and a blanket and had a nice long nap.

Have a super day everyone.

Morning everyone.
Has been raining here, my paper is dry thankfully. MrP went out and got it and told me he needed a crane to lift it lol.
Found out last night that a friend of mine had died on July 1st. He was a friend before I ever met MrP and a gay man. Yet MrP is really jealous of him. So friend and I decided not to keep contact for the sake of peace for me. Its horrible to think that 16 days ago I wished him a silent happy birthday as I have done every year, but he had died before it.

Finished the front of the hoodie jacket yesterday then did some of my blanket for a change.
The book fair is on, I REALLY want to go down but Ill only hear all about it from MrP who thinks I have more than enough books.. Difference being Id be lucky if I came home with five, yet I gave them a carboot full.
MrP is just in a very disagreeable contrary mood.
Kuaka I would die of thirst before MrP would think to offer me a drink. Id be shocked if he ever asked me if I slept well.. or if I enjoyed my dinner etc.. Gone past caring about that now.

Have a good day everyone. I don't think we will be making our trip today, probably tomorrow

oohhhh just had a quick look and it's a kiwi site... will go back and have another look later on. MrK wants to finish watching his western movie he found on You Tube... omg lol... he finds more stuff online than I do lol. I must get a HDI cable so he can watch them on the TV through the laptop.

have pulled all the furniture out of our bedroom and vacuumed, dusted etc... MrK helped with the heavier stuff like the bed but was tricky with his carpel tunnel. Another bloody mouse has been through our draws and so on so everything is in the wash and more traps set. The joy of country living.

Am going to sit back and knit (or stitch, can't decide which lol) while MrK finishes his movie :)

Just want to add, popeye, I am sorry to hear about your friend. You have my e mail addy somewhere if you want to 'chat'.

happy knitting :)

I've had another peek at the loveknitting site and it's from the UK, not here. Not that it matters these days, sometimes parcels from overseas get here quicker than NZ Post can deliver!

5736

Hi everyone... Thanks Kiwimade, Ive managed to have a short talk with a friend here and used my head and mentioned to MrP that I wanted to send a card and letter to my friends Mum, asked while we were in the car and had his brother with us.. He couldn't have a hissy that way.
So I will get a card tomorrow.

went into spotlight for some black wool, 21 balls later (Oops) I came out lol... Was given a gift since it was there birthday and its a lovely candle. says its lemongrass but smells more like apple to me.. It was even grumpy that gave it to me lol... Maybe she remembered me from the other day cos it wasn't even her serving me.
Went to the book fair this morning and got one small cookbook a chocolate one... one book of stensils and 6 knitting books. Grand sum of $12 so Im very pleased... Some Lovely patterns and even a nicer cardy for me than the book I got off here.

Boys are watching a gunsmoke movie on jones channel so Ive been oohing and aaahing over the patterns to myself lol

I know Deramores can beat the postage in this country Hands down... Ive looked at the love knitting sight before cos I get the emails from them.

Have a good night everyone

Love knitting site is almost the same as deramores, they do have more specials on their needles (I got my adi's from them ). They are fast at postage and have some good specials plus the free post if you spend $100. Their customer service is great as well if you have a problem

morning ladies :) Had a phone call from my uncle in Brisbane late last night (late for us, early for them) and my dad is in hospital again and more than likely will be for a few days. So another restless night.

It's damp and chilly here today, another perfect day for the needles.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone, wow what a wild night weather wise.Still windy by the sounds of it.

No knitting done yesterday. Probably Not a lot today either. I doubt sil will be released today, so a good day for boys to natter.

Morning ladies, it's lovely and sunny here this morning, but blowing a gale. Yesterday we went for our walk and nearly got blown inside out, and came home frozen as we'd underestimated how cold it would be and should have wrapped ourselves up more.

Yesterday afternoon we played snooker for only the second time since Mr K had his accident, and for the very first time ever I won a frame. He won the first one (only because I played so many foul shots and gave him over 30 points) and in the second I won by a measly 4 points, but a win is a win, even though he has a broken neck which hasn't healed and his eyesight is failing rapidly, he does still have over 70 years experience to fall back on (he started playing when he was 9) whereas I'm still very much a learner.

He brought me a cup of tea in bed this morning, (so I take back yesterday's comment) but I was very late up this morning as I couldn't get to sleep last night and read till well after 2am. That's the trouble with having a good book on the go.

Will try to get some knitting done today. The zig-zag 10 stitch blanket seems to be coming along very slowly this time, probably 'cos I keep nodding off in the chair.

Sorry to hear about your Dad kiwimade.

Have a good day everyone.

morning :) Thanks for the well wishes for dad. He sees a cardiac specialist in three days as he is too ill to fly home. I suspect this will be his last 'wintering' in Brisbane. Thank goodness for family who live there, they have been fantastic.

We're off to Waikato Hospital shortly for MrK's carpel tunnel appointment. Hopefully we will be given a date for surgery. This morning MrK couldn't button his shirt and I've noticed his hand has turned inwards as if he has really bad arthritis. Am picking up the fluffy One to stay with us for a few days on our way home while my sister is in Auckland for a course. The Furry One has been moping about missing her so this should brighten his week lol.

About to sort out some crochet to take to the hospital with me, gotta dash as a very early appointment and it takes 40 minutes to get there. Washing to hang out first!

Happy knitting :)

Thanks Sunflower, we will look at it..

Have got my SIL home now. shes very tired and tender.. But they have all just had a huge treat, Whitebait fritters for tea. My friend got a big pack of them and they froze solid in the fridge she kept them in at work so she defrosted them and had her fill and gave us the rest this morning.

Had a call from our landlords daughter, this afterrnoon. Our landlord her father died two days ago in Aussie... That's two shocks for the week, Im not looking for the third so please everyone take care.

Will be sitting and knitting tonight.... Have a good night all.

morning from a wet and soggy south east Waikato. Perfect day to get the needles out! The Furry One found a secret stash of his doggy biscuits another bloody freeloading mouse had hidden so I have more heavy furniture to pull out and clean behind today.

MrK's appointment went well and his op will be in October so not too far away thank goodness and my dad phoned last night sounding pretty perky. So all is right with the world so far in our neck of the woods.

yummmmm whitebait fritters, what a treat! Lucky you popeye :) Sorry to hear about your landlord, I hope this doesn't mean the house you are in being sold.

Righto, off to move some furniture. I'm sure I will have two dogs 'helping' when the vacuum cleaner comes out lol.

happy knitting :)

Morning everyone. A rainy dull day here

Family leaves today, will miss them.

Back to normal life again lol... Didn't knit last night, we talked a lot tho so that was good.
I don't know if anyone saw the story about the Little Boy Cameron in the weekend herald, who is having his third heart surgery soon. And they were fundraising to by a co-ag checker for hijm.. Its a machine much like a diabetes tester, but it measures your INR levels when your on warfarin. It means he will only have finger pricks not needles at the medlab.
I made contact with them and will be posting my tester to them on Thursday, my Random Act of Kindness.
I never use the machine, I go to the medlab.. so Im so pleased that it will be put to use.
And the money they have raised so far will buy machines for other wee ones.
So Ill get that in the post for them in a day or two.
I just hope they don't send me a photo with his heart scars, cos I have trouble seeing little ones with our scars.

Hope everyone is well... Perfect day for indoor crafts

Have a good day
