Hope you have a great weekend grizzly. I have been seed planting and gardening. Hope to spend the weekend gardening and quilting at night ho ho makerealbany - 2013-10-25 21:09:00
Have a great weekend! grizzly4 - 2013-10-26 07:10:00
We have been gardening. Two vege gardens all planted. Daughter was on a mission. I am aching all over lol. Friends and family over for lunch today I arrived home from visiting my eldest son who needed to shop for clothes. He just got out of hospital and had put on weight in there lol. Have more planting to do on a bank tomorrow. We pulled all the ferns and succulents out of a garden and used that area as another vege garden so now we have to plant them. I cut all the fern fronds off today but I am so not climbing the big palms to cut off their dead fronds. My Sil can get the ladder out when he comes home. Going to have a radox bath and sleep ha ha. Hope your weekend is going well. makerealbany - 2013-10-27 20:22:00
Thank you, we had a good time at Mum and Dad's. Got home just after lunch yesterday and fell asleep in the sun. LOL. Always to feel tired lately. Jinx was unwell over the weekend while we were away but is still begging at the fridge and still eating. Here's hoping it's not as bad as last times. grizzly4 - 2013-10-29 08:24:00
So glad you had a nice time with your Mum and Dad. Mum and I were talking about Dad last night. Laughing and remembering silly things. I felt quite tearful afterwards. Still miss my Dad after all these years. The only thing I have sewn all weekend has been mending my daughters uniform. She needs new ones but the last time she went to get them she got so annoyed at the uniform clerk. She had taken the old ones in but was missing a pr of pants. She got a hell of a lecture about them. Was told she has to return them. My daughter said" they were so covered in blood and gore she had them soaking and had forgotten about them" The clerk said they must be returned. I told my girl to take her the bloody bucket lol. She even said that staff sell them. My daughter just looked at her and said " who the hell would want them" honestly no wonder the staff are stressed, overworked, dealing with all sorts including drunken, drugged mothers and fathers, officious clerks and piles of paperwork and red tape. Thank heavens I am retired ha ha makerealbany - 2013-10-29 20:37:00
Good grief they must be desperate! grizzly4 - 2013-10-30 07:55:00
That is not ok. Honestly sometimes modern technology is really annoying. In the old days I remember going to the bank, getting the cash and the right change to make up all the pay packets lol. At lest they got paid at the same time every week. Wonder how smart girl is. Haven't heard from her at all. Might give her a ring tonight. Our darn water pump has stopped. Keeps triggering the safety switch. I just rang the water pump co to come out. Thank goodness we have a tank high up and I had a gravity fed shower. Awful but refreshing ha ha makerealbany - 2013-10-30 08:50:00
Seems it was all banks affected yesterday but sorted eventually, thank goodness. I have a day off today to go to the Culverden fete. I hope the weather holds together and I find some new craft ideas. The friend I am going with has just become a first time nana so I guess we'll be looking at baby stuff too. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-10-31 08:03:00
Chilling out and baking today. Back so sore no gym and no jolly digging in the garden either. I have just baked 3 dozen Muffins. Chocolate chip with cream cheese and Choc chip with Jam. I went into tell my daughter as the children are trick or treating tonight. She has baked 3 dozen gluten free mini muffins. Our children only go to three neighbours and mine which makes 5 houses. All those children visit each others ha ha. They all have afternoon tea first. makerealbany - 2013-10-31 12:54:00
LOL. But I'm not sure standing baking is much good for your back either! grizzly4 - 2013-11-01 08:25:00
Oops I meant high end type of craft, real designer stuff. grizzly4 - 2013-11-01 08:25:00
High end is really nice to look at though lol. I have been cutting out squares for table runners tonight. Just maxing out. Fed up with rotary cutters though. I have 3 and have to change the blades all the time. Darn expensive. Have to look at other options don't know what though. makerealbany - 2013-11-01 22:32:00
Scissors, maybe? Lol. grizzly4 - 2013-11-02 08:35:00
A busy morning in the shop yesterday and came home to find all the family there for tea. DIL apparently ok again now (sigh). L6 and B5 created havoc in the spare room, breaking the cord curtain runner in the process. I hate those things anyway but that's beside the point. Still didn't manage to finish the bootees last night despite being up till 10.45 watching a movie. Today I have a couple of flower beds to tidy, dusting to do, accounts to do for shop as well as end of month cheques, cook a beef and mushroom pie for tea and perhaps finish the bootees. grizzly4 - 2013-11-03 09:51:00
You have been busy grizzly lol. Shame about the cord curtain runner. I am lucky since I blew my top years ago all my kids respect my little cottage and make sure their children do not touch anything they shouldn't. All my grandchildren know there are 4 large plastic containers stacked in the lounge of toys. They are allowed 2 boxes at a time max. They tidy them all up afterwards and parents stack them back. There are 3 plastic containers of arty craft resources and they are allowed 1 box at a time. On the kitchen table. Painting is not to be done if Nana is not there. If little J3 knows the rules as M 5 says. Ha ha. I sewed up a table runner last night and worked on a Red Indian Costume for M5. She has two birthday parties to go to. I wanted to sew feathers on a white T Shirt of my daughters I am using as the costume. Only had white so dyed them in tea. They turned out a lovely coffee brown. Sewed them on last night as well as the leather fringing. I am now hunting for beads to sew on. It's a busy life we have lol. Scissors are so slow when you have a lot of cutting and I really like the ease of the cut when the rotary cutters work. makerealbany - 2013-11-03 18:33:00
What a well trained family. The rules would work if the parents backed me up but like I've said before, it's their time out apparently when they come to Nana's house. Usually daughter and DIL go off shopping somewhere for a couple of hours, so they aren't really here for the visit - just the free childcare and tea. Grrr. Finally finished the bootees (only took 3 evenings!) and a dolls pair as well. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-11-04 07:39:00
Put your foot down girl. It's your home and your rules. Parents don't have time out ho ho. We didn't when our children were young did we. Darn cheek. I am now sewing the beadwork on the Indian dress. Party is on Saturday. I sewed more panels on the Dinosaur quilt. Spent two hours on it today. Darn people down the road still letting off loud fireworks grrr. Animals inside and I am off to bed. makerealbany - 2013-11-04 22:29:00
Also as a matter of interest when I worked before I retired my children would ask me if I could mind the children for an event, Xmas shopping etc and if I was too busy or tired they never took umbrage. I only had them on a weekend and never on a Friday night. I went dancing lol. My younger sisters who are still working are the same. Assert yourself. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2013-11-05 07:30:00
LOL. Not baby sitting so much these days except when the parents go off shopping on the Saturday when they are 'visiting' me. I am too knackered to put my foot down these days. Felt really awful last night so home today but as usual still have things I need to do. grizzly4 - 2013-11-05 09:12:00
Oh you poor thing. Just rest girl. We need to do that sometimes you know. I went to the gym today. Nearly killed me ha ha. Back still not quite right. I didn't work out on 2 machines but the rest were ok. I felt full of energy when I got home. Planted some more seeds. Sewed on another beaded strand Illbe blind by the time I finish. Tee hee. All coming along nicely. Went into Spotlight to buy some more material for a matching pillowcase for the Dinosaur quilt and the assistant asked if I had a gold card. I handed it over and got a further 15 percent off. On a roll ha ha. They have never asked before and I am a regular customer. Maybe they just started. makerealbany - 2013-11-05 14:21:00
That was worthwhile, indeed! Got a few things done yesterday morning but slept for 5 hours yesterday afternoon! And still slept through the night. Back to work today although tummy still a bit squiffy but I don't feel tired for the first time in ages. LOL. Worked on dolls clothes last night. I love the sound of the dinosaur quilt. I'm having more expectations placed on me at the shop and finding it really hard because I can't explain why I can't commit to anything more. Hopefully I will be able to share my news next week. (And no I'm not pregnant!!!!) LOL grizzly4 - 2013-11-06 07:59:00
Thank goodness for that grizzly ha ha. Squid fly tummies are not nice. Just tell them at the shop you have other things like a personal life. I remember you giving me all the pep talks when I was working myself ragged as a volunteer. I never hear from them at all now thank heavens. I have more sewing to do. WAs madly cutting last night and the beadwork is calling but I just want to mow a little of the lawn first before my daughter gets home and tells me off lol makerealbany - 2013-11-06 11:30:00
Tells you off!!!!! For doing them I hope. Your days sound exhausting, too. I. and I are being shouted to a play called "Postal" tonight at the Court Theatre by one of the bus companies I use for trips at work. I'm really looking forward to and hope that whatever is wrong with me doesn't ruin the evening. Barely got any sleep last night for feeling ill so may be dozing off during the play .LOL. How rude of me. grizzly4 - 2013-11-07 08:22:00
Yes she said thanks Ma but you shouldn't mow them too hard . My back was not too bad. I went to the gym today and had a good stretch. K is here for the night. Overtired as he went to his big sisters graduation last night. Poor little guy is taking awhile to get to sleep. He usually is out like a light after his stories. Spent two hours sewing today and an hour in the garden. Enjoy the play and hope you feel better soon. makerealbany - 2013-11-07 19:31:00
I feel much better this morning thank goodness! The play was good and we ran into people we haven't seen in over 10 years plus people I know through work. Good fun. Strong social message throughout the play which was woven well through the story, just such a shame that foul language needs to be used as an attention grabber. grizzly4 - 2013-11-08 09:24:00
Thought it was going to be a quiet day today so I could potter in the garden but apparently family will be here by lunch time. Need a few groceries before then and a Lotto ticket for tonight. Mum and Dad have sent me a Unichem voucher for my birthday so I will have to have a look in the Chemists as well. They have beautiful stuff in there! I have accounts to do for shop this weekend but really want to cut out a top for myself as well. Fingers crossed. grizzly4 - 2013-11-09 10:11:00
I went to the gym at 8 then off to M5s Netball game. We then watched the neighbours girls playing, home for lunch then down to the neighbours to collect two big bags of Guinea Pig Cage clean outs for my garden, back up the hill and then into the garden. I repotted plants, planted out some of my seedlings, got other containers already to put in my seedlings that are a bit small just yet. I worked and worked lol. I then cleaned my car, had a shower and made myself a salad for tea. I am just about ready for bed ho ho. makerealbany - 2013-11-09 20:43:00
Boy, that was a mission you were on yesterday. Mine was pretty lazy really, family visited for an hour in the afternoon to give me lovely pressies but they all had plans for tea. Lovely evening of knitting and watching James Bond movie on tv. LOL. Today I have to cook up the meat I defrosted for tea last night thinking family would be here. Shame they don't let me know ahead of time. grizzly4 - 2013-11-10 10:24:00
Today was more laid back. I had to supervise M5 who was making herself a Wonder Woman costume for a school competition and show. She was only allowed to spend $20 on materials but could recycle, etc. she has 6 flags she got from the op shop for $6. Wanted to sew them together for a cape. She sat on the chair and her little foot just reached the foot lever lol. I had to watch her little fingers. I only had to say sew, stop, push button in to t f, etc. she did really well.. Cape looks great. Mum helped her with the recycled outfit. They made gold bands and a head crown out of gold card. They cut down a red top and sewed it to a blue leotard. So it was a fun morning. I gardened while they went off to a Birthday Party then I washed more material and did some quilt sewing. My son dropped in with a goal post for M and set it up. I remember A 17 throwing balls into that in Sydney years ago. She gave up netball last year as music has taken over her life now lol. makerealbany - 2013-11-10 22:38:00
I am really impressed M5 was actively involved in making her costume, even using the machine. Well done her and you and your daughter for letting her learn those skills. Wow! I'll bet the costume looks great! grizzly4 - 2013-11-11 07:45:00
You have had a frantic day grizzly. !!!!!! We have had a terrible afternoon. M5 picked up J3 who is a solid little guy now. They fell on the tile floor. Both of them banged their heads on the floor. They were both a screaming. K4 ran to get his Aunty while I had both of them in my arms. Both of them had ice applied and both of them have huge bumps. They will look awful tomorrow. The phone rang and my granddaughter told me her Mum was at A and E . She was in agony with kidney stones. She also has low blood pressure and an infection so intravenous antibiotics for her for the next 3 days. Honestly what a hell day. All the kids are asleep and we are all exhausted. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day lol makerealbany - 2013-11-11 21:14:00
A had to take J3 to Starship as he woke up at 10 and was vomiting everywhere and very distressed. I am minding M5 and doing all the washing. I have changed his bed. Thank goodness his sister is snoring through it all. My poor daughter is coping like a trooper. Given that he had that fall they said to take him in. All I can do is keep busy. Sleep is not on the agenda. makerealbany - 2013-11-12 00:15:00
Daughter texted they are giving buba a scan. Gave him something to stop the vomiting and have all the lines in so he is nearly ready. My poor girl is by herself. Both sons are in Wellington, her hubbi in PNG, sister really sick and I am minding M. Security Guard was lovely and told her to park right by the hospital door. makerealbany - 2013-11-12 00:46:00
I hope by the time you get this, everything has been sorted. An incredibly stressful day for you all yesterday. grizzly4 - 2013-11-12 07:56:00
Happy Birthday grizzly. Hope you are having a great day. J is much better. Severe concussion. T is improving so we are all doing ok thank heavens. I cleaned and cleaned. Now exhausted. Will sleep well tonight. makerealbany - 2013-11-12 20:23:00
Cleaning is great therapy, isn't it? Thank you, I had a nice birthday and going out for dinner tonight with friends which will be lovely. Taking the Women's Group to the A&P Show this morning so I hope it warms up a bit and soon. It's a long weekend here this week so really looking forward to that. Then only 2 weeks till everything changes at work and I take up the Manager's role! Exciting but a bit scary as well. grizzly4 - 2013-11-13 07:41:00
Oh how exciting. Managers role lol. You'll just slip into that role easy grizzly congrats. I have been gardening and quilting today. Lovely productive day. My seedlings are popping out. Giant Atlantic pumpkin seeds we saved from last year have pushed through very quickly. Sil is back next week. Whoppee lol. He can take over the patrol at night ha ha. I check all the cars, go up and lock the gate, check the water levels in the tank, etc. having little E1 tomorrow while her mummy visits a sick friend. Going to take her to see all the new baby Guinea Pigs and Rabbits at my neighbours. makerealbany - 2013-11-13 21:34:00
That sounds like fun, she will love it! We had an excellent morning at the A & P Show yesterday. Didn't go and see the farm animals in their pens this year, the smell was a bit ripe this year. LOL. Seemed more intense this year for some reason, it's never bothered me before. The Show itself seemed less crowded on it's first day this year, too. I had my whitebait sandwich and my coffee in complete piece in the café tent. No queues, no stress. Wonderful. And then had dinner out last night with friends. Went Italian this time, I had a lovely seared lamb salad with feta and pumpkin. grizzly4 - 2013-11-14 08:30:00
Oh whitebait sandwiches, I am positively drooling. I had some seeds I saved from last years Giant Atlantic Pumpkins advertised them for children to grow on my local community page and had a great response lol. We might have our own competition here. Getting K4 at 12 his mummy is still throwing up. No she is definitely not pregnant. That would be impossible. Now she has migraines as well. She seemed to perk up and then down she goes again. It is a worry. makerealbany - 2013-11-14 10:52:00
Had a lovely time with little E1 and her cousins this afternoon. On the down side daughter is back in hospital. More Iv and another scan. It's really upsetting her little boy. I have him with me and he keeps asking when is Mummy coming home Nana. Had to give him heaps of cuddles. My other daughter was hugging him and reassuring him. It must be scary for him Daddy has gone to heaven and he was hurt. Mummy is sick and hurting. One can understand his fears. Poor little guy. makerealbany - 2013-11-14 21:07:00
Poor wee man. And the best medicine is a cuddle, I agree. I am feeling for you all, everything seems to happen at once when it does. grizzly4 - 2013-11-15 10:27:00
Visited my daughter this afternoon. She looks awful. Kidney infection. One thing after another alright. She has huge black circles around her eyes and feet are swollen. Pain is easing but still doped up on Morphein. On a happier note I am taking M5 to her netball tomorrow she has decided her game is more important than the Wiggles show lol. I am now going to throw on some trackies and water the garden. After that I have some material to cut. makerealbany - 2013-11-15 20:51:00
Gosh, I hope your daughter is feeling better today! I have an early start setting up the stall this morning then back here for TM pickups and cooking for everyone here for tea. Maybe not as lazy as yesterday. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-11-16 07:33:00
Yay didn't cook in the end. Went exploring along the Waimakariri River for a spot to go to Christmas Day where we can take our quad and trike bikes to play and had a fish and chip picnic, Great fun with B8 and L6. grizzly4 - 2013-11-16 20:21:00
I didn't cook tonight either ha ha. Took M5 to netball this morning while the others went to the Wiggles. We all had a great day except for my daughter who is still in hospital. Said she feels a bit better but still in pain. makerealbany - 2013-11-16 21:39:00
I've heard kidney pain is particularly nasty. I hope she feels better soon. Today will be spent trimming trees along the drive so they don't scratch the cars and retying the conifers back into tidy pillars because of their new growth. Then finishing dolls clothes so I can start on TM prem orders. grizzly4 - 2013-11-17 10:29:00
She is home but still in pain. Has to rest. I drove up today and my oldest grandson was up visiting so we all got stuck in. As soon as my ex Sil said your Nanas coming apparently they all flew out if bed and started cleaning lol. My ex Sil pulled down and old shed. C20 got a mate to drop off a big skip so all the old shed went in. The yard was cleaned and you would never have known there was a shed there. Pruned the huge Pohutukawa tree that had lots of dead branches and was over Js Bedroom window. Heaps of light in her room now. C's girlfriend even cleaned the fridge, S hoovered the house. I was in shock ha ha. I made M5 another skirt last night made of cupcake material. She loves it and her Indian outfit was a hit. All the mums and girls admired it. A had to explain how it was made. Lol makerealbany - 2013-11-17 22:12:00
Good job, you have them scared silly! LOL. Off to get my eyes checked and organise new glasses today. I know they have needed changing for a while 'cos I haven't been able to do any cross stitch but have to renew my drivers license by mid Dec so better fix them now. grizzly4 - 2013-11-18 07:49:00
Think I need to get my glasses updated as well grizzly. I had my grandsons quilt all three layers sitting on the floor today and after I had sprayed it I still needed to pin it. King size single so it takes ages to smooth, pin, etc. then I somehow shoved a quilting pin right up under my big toe. Hurt like the billio so I gave up for the day lol.i dropped off some baby things and two cotton rugs I had crocheted to a young woman in our community who was so grateful. I am now crocheting another cotton blanket.dropped seeds off to a couple of people on our website. Lots of people are growing the Pumpkins now. If you want any seeds I can post you some. Need space for them as they grow huge. makerealbany - 2013-11-18 21:16:00
Many thanks, but may have to wait till next year, Already have pumpkins starting to take over. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-11-19 08:38:00
