I'm just really starting out (only 22), but am slowly getting more organised with my sewing stuff (and getting MORE sewing stuff of course). Want to make myself one of those nifty sewing tables with the drop down machine platform and extendible cutting table etc...

I just went to local shops, only had to get a couple of groceries. Very bad accident at lights hmm it happened at about 12 and traffic is still being diverted and held up. took me a while to get home and i didnt need to go through lights !
school finishes soon and most parents have to go through those lights twice gosh hope they have sorted something soon

OOhhhh coalrange, Yes, thats the sort of drawers I mean. They'd be perfect! I woudnt want all the little compartments in the drawers but they could be removed.

you do need the compartments, then they wont roll together and get tangled and so much easier for sorting colours :)
awwww it would look amazing you wouldnt want to close the draws hehe :) awww i could dream about that hmmmm ...................ok back to reality that was nice while it lasted back to sewing for me :)

My dilemma at the moment is trying to find good storage for all the reels of cotton.
I've decided I want one of those sets of drawers that museums and libraries use, the ones with the large, shallow drawers. I dont actually have any where in the house to put such a set even if I did manage to find some, but I'm willing to work that out if I ever do find some :o)

type in the words: printers tray and you'll see lots at the moment, worth a look

Ive got a printers tray with a collection of overseas 'cone shells' in it sits on the floor under the tv cabinet, Chockie boy has never noticed it and yet the front of it is in full view. You know whats going to happen now that ive mentioned it aye haha lol he will discover it.

Yay Liz, have you got it home or on layby ?

Datoofairy, this may be a good idea of Judys, some of the trays on here are only $20 you could get say 4 or 5 and get them made into a cabinet thing maybe. I will try cottons in to see how well they fit soon as i can :)

coalrange1 - 2010-02-23 17:11:00
5677

they dont fit in all that fantastic, some cottons are slightly fat, but they would fit if draws werent too tightly fitted together. each draw would hold quite a few cottons just one layer thick.

that was about the same time as i joined this thread!!! the light is bad here for sewing after about 5pm as we moved the dining table, but should be getting some new bulbs for the over dining table lights in the next week so YAY evening sewing!!

Datoofairy, a friend of mine came around this afternoon, i was telling her about your cottons. She suggested dowling, thread the cotton reels on lengths and stand one end in some sort of stand thing. that would look very arty standing in a corner and you could have it so you could get the reels off either end.
