morning :) Buggar about being sick whiskey, hope you get well soon.

There is always something we can knit isn't there carole. Your set must have been well and truly loved if you have been asked to knit it again for your friend' daughter.

If you don't have any smaller needles dilligaf_dah, you can get second hand cheap needles at places like the Sallies, op-shops and so on. Buttons are cheap as chips there too :)

It's starting to cloud over so I'll get all those out door jobs done first I think. MrK is building me a strawberry box with a lid out of an old pallet. The lid will have wire mesh so the birds can't get to the strawberries but the sunshine can and all we have to do is lift the lid to pick them. He's going to hang it on the fence so I don't even have to bend over to pick them.

I'll try and get some crafting done this afternoon now that the Fluffy One has gone home.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone. Glad your friend loved the set Carole

Yep the oppies are good for needles, buttons etc. MrP cut some needles for me when I wanted shorter ones for booties etc. I just glued light wooden beads on the end. I use them a lot.

Have to pop up the road again soon then home to vac and night.

The strawberry bank sounds good Kiwimade. We hung spouting on the fence and grew strawberries in there. Was easy to hang net on too. But the blackberries and passionfruit were wanted more so we buy strawberries instead, they are generally cheaper than black berries and passionfruit lol

Lol Missy is stalking a bird, ears down flat,, pitty its out the window and its closed lol

Bob is ok, I dreamt about him last night and he snuggled into me and said he was ok.. I woke up crying and hugging my pillow.. so he has sent me a message.

Lovely day out there so best get moving have a good day everyone

morning :) Lucky grandkids indeed :) Our daughter had a call from the hospital yesterday, there was a cancellation and would she like her gall bladder out on Monday. So I guess I'll be doing the mum thing and looking after her for a bit. She won't be able to lift anything over 5 kilos for 6 weeks. I'll find out more over the weekend.

Looks like rain today, the perfect day to sit and knit without guilt.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Gloomy and windy today.. I can say that 23 years ago it was a sunny day in Hamilton in the morning. Then about 1-30 it hosed down.. Lol Our 23rd wedding anniversary today. That's why I remember. We had a picic at the lake and had just loaded everything and ourselves in the cars to leave and it poured down.
Got my first herald this morning of a Month free.. Its the second time Ive had it, so I can sit later and enjoy it.
Will be knitting today tho, I need to put a bit of time into it or Santa will be thinking Mrs Claus has taken off somewhere lol

Have a good day everyone

well done popeye - we have an anniversary soon, but I can't remember the date, nor the year - oops! Think it might be 10th September, I know afterwards I said we should have made it the 9th 'cos 9th of the 9th would be easy to remember. I know it's not 9-11 and I know it's not the 12th 'cos that's my nephews anniversary. Amazing that I can remember his but not mine.

Miserable weather here, just right for sitting knitting, but I might have to tidy up as we "may" have friends coming for tea. I should know by lunchtime, then I have to come up with a vegetarian dish. The things I do.

Happy knitting everyone.

Still raining here, Mr K brought me a cup of tea in bed this morning, I was tired yesterday despite doing not a lot of anything - our friends didn't come for tea in the end, so we had home made veg soup for tea, and made do with that - Mr K had several helpings! (My sister never cooks tea on a Saturday unless they have visitors - maybe I should take a leaf out of her book).

The day didn't start well yesterday when I squeezed Deep Heat onto my toothbrush and didn't realise until it touched my tongue at the same time as my nose sniffed it. Yuk. Thought I would never get rid of the taste. Not recommended!

I have finished my mile a minute blanket and started another. Really enjoy doing these. Photo later.

Hope everyone has a good day and is feeling better.

Morning everyone.. Been lightly raining all night. I woke cos I was too hot and in pain., So took meds and put the fan on.

Your firing through the knitting Carole. Kiwimade a perfect day for knitting..

Eww Kuaka that wouldn't be too pleasant, it smells bad enough let alone tasting it..
Saturday nights is usually a slap happy night menu wise. sometimes we have breakfast for tea, or fruit and custard.

Going to nip up the road soon. Best put some gas in the car since it has to go for its warrant tomorrow.. Im dreading it. I have to go back to drs too, my sugars aren't good, but not a lot I can do about that, so Im expecting an increase in meds.

We were both very tired yesterday. Could have easily slept

Finally finished the main body of Mrs Claus, and her nose and started an arm.

Have a good day everyone...

Morning everyone.
Not good Carole, hope you feel better soon.

Have to take the car up for a warrant soon, and its hosing down.. Was going to go up and then walk up to the drs, but wont be doing that either. So ill ring up and see if they have a loaner, or Il take it in after the drs.

Then it will be a day on the needles again

Have a good day everyone

morning :) Berrocca and regular doses of panadol did the trick for me carole, maybe it will help you too?

Our daughter has her gall bladder op today so we will be waiting by the phone for the call from her partner. Then we can decide when I'm off to stay with them for a few days.

have to take the Fluffy One to the groomers today, will be the last time I take her as next time Dad will be back and he can take over! It's the Fluffy One's last week with us and our boy is going to miss her. Am seriously suggesting to MrK we get another dog... but I know that will go down like a lump of lead!

Am taking my knitting with me while I wait for the groomer to do her thing. Takes about an hour and a half! So I can sneak in a few rows :)

Good luck with the WoF popeye!

Happy knitting :)

Hope you feel better soon carolev - I've managed to get through winter okay so far, with nothing more than a sniffle and an annoying tickle in my throat.

The rain has finally stopped. I said to Mr K that on Thursday we had a "mackerel sky" which means "3 days wet, 3 days dry". Well we've certainly had the 3 days wet. Everything is soggy outside, the lawns are all squelchy, so I won't be tackling the weeds yet awhile (I can always find an excuse not to do gardening - ditto housework!)

Here's a pic of the little baby blanket I've just finished. Since finishing that I've almost done another, this one is in variegated green, white and lemon centre strips and pale green around them.

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/330873637.jpg

Not sure what we are doing today apart from a walk, but no doubt I will do some knitting or crochet. Oh yes, I finally finished my second "no sag" bag yesterday and am very pleased with it. Might try to sell it but not on here. Think I will unpick some of the first one I did so that I can put it back together better, and insert the zip across the centre now that I know how to do it. Mr K thinks I'm mad, but it's annoying me that I haven't done a very good job on it. We'll see.

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2014-09-01 09:11:00
5669

Kuaka the blanket is lovely... will I find the pattern under "Mile a Minute"? might be able to give it a go.
No news on the car yet. But I have a loaner so all ok.. Its a little mazda car, soo low it feels like Im grating my bottom on the road compared to the Rav4 lol.
Dr has increased my metformin for my diabetes and is encouraging me to lose weight again. I told him how when I lost 30 kilos a couple of years ago I hated the lose skin more than the extra weight so he has promised to refer me when my skin is lose again.
Told me I had to put myself first again, I have been making sure MrP eats well but not me

Hope your daughters op goes well Kiwimade. Hardest part will be not being able to pick Maddy up for a while.

Still raining, so will have a play on here then do some knitting

popeye333 - 2014-09-01 12:48:00
5670

Few the Car passed its WOF... Now just have to brave the weather to go get it.

popeye333 - 2014-09-01 13:30:00
5671

Yes, popeye, the pattern is on ravelry - it's really easy and really quick. When I join the strips I start on the 3rd treble of the 15 at the ends, so 3 on each side of the strip, leaves 9 for the scallop - if you follow my thinking. Bet you're pleased the car got a WOF. I hate taking mine in - just in case they find something, mind you, I'd rather it was found so it can be fixed, than drive a death-trap!

kuaka - 2014-09-01 16:42:00
5672

Yep Kuaka I hate it too.. the two worst days of the year lol.. Our mechanic is good and knows we have to have a well performing car so does a very thorough job.

I found the pattern and have saved it. Will make a note of your tip too. Thank you.. It helps when someone has done it before you.

I found out today that my cousin crochet blankets too, something for some reason I never thought she would do... She talks of her Nana doing crochet before arthritis kicked in.. Im not sure if she means "Our" grandmother or the one on her Mums side. I don't remember if Our nana crochet or not. But Im going to ask.

Well tea is just about cooked.. a nice winter warming dinner too, on this Glorious NOT first day of Spring lol

Have a good night everyone

popeye333 - 2014-09-01 16:48:00

morning all. off out today.my car's getting fixed. my wallets getting emptied .
started miss D hat hard going just knitting from a picture. I am feeling ok today

carolev - 2014-09-02 06:41:00
5675

Morning all, pleased you're feeling better carolev.

Well I thought that I would finish my second baby blanket last night, but when I started to join the strips together I noticed that I had worked four trebles instead of 3 on the start of the edging on one of the strips, and it was very noticeable so I will have to unravel and redo the edging on that strip. Right pain in the backside, but it's so obvious I can't leave it. Maybe I'll get it finished tonight.

Hope everyone has a super day.

kuaka - 2014-09-02 07:59:00
5676

morning :) daughter's op went well, we spoke to her on the phone while she was in recovery and she said she was 'bloody hungry mum, they better feed me!' lol. So we knew she was fine.

I've done something to my lower back so can't sit for too long - this will be fun trying to get down to our daughter and do her lifting - not! Panadol isn't working so using anti flame. Hopefully it will sort itself out quickly!

Good to hear your car passed it's WoF popeye, always a relief.

I love your blanket kuaka, what a great pattern. I've added it to my 'to do' list and will show it to our daughter as well.

Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-09-02 08:01:00
5677

kiwimade - it really is well named at "mile a minute", it's so quick and easy, although I'm thinking that instead of taking in the first and last three trebles of the scallops when joining the strips, it might be better to only join the first and last two, as I notice it seems to want to pull in slightly at the ends.

Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery. It didn't take me long to get over my op, but I felt great when I left the hospital, but by the time I got home (a friend picked me up and drove me home 'cos at the time Mr K had pneumonia and wasn't up to collecting me) I felt quite sick, so I had a cup of tea and then went to bed. Next morning I felt much better, and I was good and let Mr K fuss over me, even though he didn't feel all that great.

kuaka - 2014-09-02 08:35:00
5678

Morning everyone...
Glad your feeling better.. Kiwimade you have my sympathies. My back is horrible today, was so bad last night I took a sleeping tablet on top of pain meds so I could sleep. Its from getting in and out of a very low car.

When I had my gall bladder out I was in and out in one day. Sadly tho and typical for me cos Im always difficult a stone had gone through but got stuck further down. so a few days post my opp I was having another attack. Went back to hospital and they had to go in with the endoscope to find the stone. I felt like Id been run over by a truck.. Was in hospital for a week. But that's rare.

Sunny and cloudy here. not that Ill be going out in it.. Was going to cut MrPs hair but I doubt I could even stand that long. So back to mrs Clause and another row of the blanket Im doing.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-09-02 09:20:00
5679

thanks for the tips kuaka, I write them down on the pattern when I print it out to remind me.

Daughter was in overnight as she was one of the last on the list to have her surgery. Just had a call from her partner to say she is being discharged some time today. No mucking about nowadays!

Hope you are on the mend popeye :)

kiwimade64 - 2014-09-02 10:44:00

morning all. well the daylight woke me nice to see our days getting longer, I have my sewing class today, well on with miss D hat looking good

carolev - 2014-09-03 06:17:00
5681

morning :) My bad is still sore but well enough for me to be in the classroom today. I'll be off to our daughter's next week so will have the rest of this week to fully recover before I start lifting a 10 kilo baby!

so no knitting for me today. It's going to be a gorgeous day, hope everyone who is sick is on the road to recovery.

Happy knitting :)

Colder here this morning but it's still fine so far, this will be 3 days without rain! Give us a chance to dry out. Been up since 5.30, woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.

Didn't quite finish my blanket last night as I ran out of yarn and had puss on my lap and didn't want to disturb her to go and get another ball from the sewing room. Only got three strips to join and it's done. I'll do that before I go out this morning - blood test, knit and natter and then home so I can take Mr K for a walk. It's no wonder I don't get much housework done.

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2014-09-03 07:29:00
5683

Morning everyone. We had a beautiful sunset last night.. Spring has sprung. even hit 20 degrees here.
Hope you have fun in the classroom Kiwimade.. Don't you come back with a sore back from lifting Maddy lol... Will be nice to get lots of cuddles tho eh.
I did Mrs Claus Hair yesterday,, I enjoy doing that cos its simple but it always looks good.
Am doing a little on the Plunket blankets each day too.

Might possibly go and stock up on meat today, if MrP is willing to delay his haircut for another couple of days lol. Could probably tempt him if I through in Maccas lol.

Have a good day everyone..

popeye333 - 2014-09-03 09:24:00
5684

Yay it's stopped raining, I was really wanting rain for the garden but it went a bit overboard and now everything is rather soggy, but not cold so the grass will start growing no doubt need mowing,

Hope all the sick ones are improving rapidly now it is spring and your back is improving Kiwimade.

Finished my socks and rather pleased and surprised as how the wool pattern turned out, now want to dye some more but of course just when I really want it I can't get the naked sock wool at present. Perhaps it is telling me to get on with some of the other things on my to-do list.

Need to go curtain hunting I want some with a bit of colour in them as the walls are so neutral but so far it seems that beige and browns are the "in" colours for curtains. There are a couple of curtain places that I haven't checked out yet and I'm sure with a bit of patience I will find what I want (not sure if it is what my purse really wants though lol!) Worked out that the present curtains were made by a friend about 30years ago and although a bit faded along the edges they are surprisingly good still - they were not cheap at the time but have paid off.

So off out for a while then back to knitting little tops out of the wool I got last week.

jayemtoo - 2014-09-03 10:24:00

morning all. had one of them nights where I could not sleep. sitting up in bed at 1am trying to make ears for this hat . I really need a pattern. hats looking ok just 2 inches to go till cast off. off out today so better go get dressed,

Morning everyone.Being sneaky and on my tablet in bed with missy in my arm.
Shopping today. Then have to changemy mammogram and nurses apps for next week as they will clash with Getting friend to hosp for surgery.

Have to cut MrPs hair and slice the bacon ends we got yesterday.

Then I can knit and do a. Bit more on blanket.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2014-09-04 07:27:00
5687

morning :) My back is on the mend, not as bad as yesterday so maybe I needed that day in the classroom lol. I'm off to stay with our daughter and her wee family next Tuesday. Giving myself plenty of time to recover, especially as I will be lifting our grandy who is over 10 kilos now!

Today is the Fluffy One's last day with us, my sister finishes her practicum studies this week and Dad will be home in a couple of weeks.

The Fluffy One has shredded one of the Furry One's soft toys so I'm going to have to vacuum, can't leave it so I might as well get on and do the rest of the housework too. Will take me most of the day in between 'back' breaks.

I should be able to pick the needles up sometime this afternoon :)

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Glad to hear your back is on the mend Kiwimade.. They can be right horrible things eh. Mines ok this morning. probably due to the fact that I had a broken sleep so wasn't in the same position.

Man it rained here last night. 4-45am it woke me up, which is rare. Hope my paper isn't soaking.

Have a two things to do on my list today... The washing and I should be able to finish knitting Mrs Claus... Ill put her together on the weekend.

We have given Missy one of my teddy toys , she has it on her pillow in the lounge but every so often she brings it over to me and scraggs the poor thing lol.

Have a good day all

Afternoon
Good to hear that backs are on the mend -they can be most uncomfortable when deciding to misbehave.

The rain has hold off so far so have got the washing dry and the lawns mown, they certainly needed it.

Now trying to decide if to start on more socks as a niece has asked for some or do a baby top which takes less concentration. I will probably end up with both on the go.

Happy knitty evening everyone

I thought I had finished knitting Mrs Claus, but once again Ive forgotten the holly ;leaves and berries. but Ill do those when they are needed.

Have crochet together Half the blanket now.. its looking lovely.

Im not flavour of the month anymore with my Baby girl.. the teddy she chose off my book cases is snuggled up with her on her pillow and blankie.
I did get about 5 minutes cuddle before, but it happened right at the start of my busy time, doing insulin for MrP and feeding her and doing tea.

Feeling almost unloved lol, especially when I played fetch with her for what felt like hours this morning lol.

Just as well I love her lol..

Have had thunder and heavy rain here this afternoon. Its 21.5 degrees in the lounge, I have my fan on.. And still 18.9 outside.. Very dull and grey tho.

Have a lovely night everyone

morning :) must be a 'bad back week!' Mine is still a tad tender but getting there. Am beginning to wonder if it is our mattress and maybe that needs replacing as it seems to be at it's worst in the morning.

Oven to clean today, this will take a while with all the bending but I can't stand it any longer. Will wait for MrK to finish his breakkie before I spray it.

Then some knitting or something this afternoon. Am off to stay with our daughter on Tuesday.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all. Make that three of us.. I slept too soundly last night and am in a lot of pain too. Took meds, and my right hip has eased on walking. Hate it cos it really limits you in what you can do eh. 7.5 / 10 this morning.

Have to nick up the shop for a few things and then home to read my paper.

The Herald is offering 4 weeks free papers in our area. Its the second time Ive had it.

Then Ill start putting Mrs Claus together. Was looking on Deramores yesterday at their toy patterns there's soo very cute ones. And delivered in PDF form so no postage. Id just have to out them on a USB and go to the library and print them out.

Will be nice for you to spend time with your Girls Kiwimade.. Hopefully your back will improve for the trip in the car.

Have a good day everyone

morning ladies, well my back is just the same as it has been for ages, hurts like mad when I try to turn over in bed, but the physio sessions I had a while ago did no good at all, and at $30 a time (ACC were paying the rest) I couldn't afford to keep going. Yesterday I had a miserable headache all morning, and I put this down to puss landing on my neck twice the evening before. She was curled up on the back of my chair fast asleep on the granny square blanket, next thing - plop - and I'm wearing a cat across the back of my neck. Just as well she's only a tiny little thing.

If we get much more rain here we'll need flippers and snorkels! The sea is a horrible dirty muddy brown.

Obviously I can't do the weeding in the rain, so I might have to sit and knit this afternoon.

Happy knitting everyone.

kuaka - 2014-09-06 10:31:00
5696

What a mess we all are, lol..

Ouch re the Cat landing on your neck Kuaka.. Thankfully Missy tends to stay away from my shoulders. perhaps one of the kids scared her some how, before we got her.

Ive just topped up on meds and I don't think the Lights will be on for long. Will probably have to go and sleep a bit of it off.

Went up the road, wandered around the supermarket thinking what was the other thing I needed. Half way home and MrP asked did I get my phone top up... Went back and got it lol. Took five attempts to get it to load on too..

Have done the dishes, cleaned the electric frying pan and the deep fryer.. always feel greasy after doing that.

Our lawns have grown this fortnight and even have daisy's so its a sure sign its warming up. I had my fan on all night. I think we will have a hot summer.

I don't think Missy is going to be a bit hefty cat either. she runs off any food she eats. Ive never had a skinny cat lol... she looks like Phar lap lol, all legs and arms.

Well I might have a looky around here and then go have a rest.

morning! I caught the mouse!! wahooo lol BUT not before the little buggar pulled stuffing out from underneath the couch to make a nest! Woke this morning to find stuffing all over the lounge floor. So I'll wait for MrK to wake then have him help me flip the couch over so we can see what damage has been done. Destructive little buggars.

We're having a power cut today, from 9.00am - 4.00pm so I'll mow the lawns this morning then I can create without guilt.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all...

Well done re the mouse Kiwimade.. the little chit.. That's a long power cut eh, must be something major.

Lovely day here so have stripped the beds, should all get dry, although no wind as such.

Will be doing Mrs Claus today... I sewed up her skirt , pockets , and wrist bands last night so once the main body bit is together its all just adding bits on..
Friends arriving tomorrow, so will leave the floors till the morning. Been trying to think what to have for tea tomorrow that can be cooked quickly when they arrive, which will be late evening. Or that can be frozen if they don't need it.
One thing I was thinking of was Mince on toast with an egg on top.. or maybe even bacon eggs, hash browns and spaghetti. Will be nice to have a leisurely breakfast with them since last time was all rush.

Have a good day everyone
