Last order done for TM so at least I can knit something different. My beanies with ear flaps are doing well in the shop despite being late in the season. Thought I might have missed the boat but looks like I can do a few more. Just had a call from my daughter, B5 has been sick all night so won't be on the programme today. Poor wee thing. Daughter is panicking as she is on a flight to Auckland tomorrow for a conference, really hoping she doesn't get it.

I have finished quilting the quilt yippee just have to bind the edges. Been flat out today what with one thing and another but I kept ducking in and quilting around the fairy diamonds. Muttering to myself as I hung the washing out 8 to go. Then hoovering 7 to go and so on. It's really hard to push all the rest of it through when you are turning and sewing. I am going to work out that binding right now because I have to get onto the other one. Got my test tomorrow. Hours at the jolly hospital sigh. Must remember to take cash. Parking costs a fortune there.

Well done! Had a stressful afternoon yesterday: I. is now being referred on to a muscular skeletal pain specialist as nothing surgeon can do. ACC sent a letter to say he will be returning to work today! and yet his medical cert is till 13/10! And then I lost my favourite bracelet! Searched everywhere then after I'd been trying to go to sleep for over an hour last night I got up and checked a cupboard I had gone into at one point and there it was! So happy but still didn't sleep well after all the drama.

Poor I and poor you. Darn ACC never get it right. I am not feeling so good . improving as the hours go by. That test was the most painful one I have had in years. Ended up in tears then drove to my sons who is 2 mins from the hospital and cried on my Dils shoulder. She made me a cuppa while I sat and rested. Little E cheered me up with her antics. Wanted me to chase her lol. Hope tomorrow is better for all of us. Ha ha

Yep and I'm working in the shop this morning and then have a meeting as well. Sigh. Then, hopefully the garden although I. has done heaps over the last couple of days. He has redesigned the vege patch layout and it looks great.

Got home at 7 tonight after a long day. Mum is checking my quilting lol. I am so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open. Off to bed For me .

I planted all my vege plants and seeds yesterday once I was home. So pleased. And I found a pack of 25 Petunia plants for $8 at Bunnings so I have been refilling pots and gaps in the flower gardens. Such Fun. Today I have to go to LIncraft for a ball of wool to finish a dolls dress, rather frustrating, and I need more pot mix as well.

5660

Good gardening. The long drive to Rotorua and back in the one day has not been good for my back. On top of that Mum wanted to spend the day shopping and now I am exhausted. Early to bed for me. I just took up Mums new Pjs she is so tiny they were far too long for her. Lol I have trousers to alter for her tomorrow. This week all my crafts are on hold sigh.

Sounds like you have a busy week ahead. It's raining here today good for ducks and my garden I guess but not pleasant with 26 children in a confined space. I started a prem matinee set last night so that will be my project for this week.

Mum is resting today crocheting flowers. I am scurrying around trying to clean up before kids home from zoo. We are off to another big Mall tomorrow but my daughter is dropping us off and picking us up thank The Lord. Washing is out and it is a lovely day.

makerealbany - 2013-10-08 11:22:00
5663

Oh no Mum has discovered the Internet. She has been on Facebook to Whanau all around the globe. A few mishaps lol. Now she is crocheting flowers again. Told me she is getting an IPad. Tee hee my sisters will ring my neck.

5665

Windy here. I am working on the quilt. Mum is still crocheting flowers. The children keep popping over to see her. They are loving having their great Nana here lol. I'm surprised at the patience she has with them. So is everyone else ha ha.

I have thoroughly enjoyed having all 3 grandsons as part of our holiday programme but meant I am having to include their interruptions into my usual schedule as well as cover for the 2 absent staff. Phew! and B5 is such a dare devil I always have one ear and one eye on him anyway. Especially at the pool yesterday. I am exhausted and still have tomorrow to get through with a trip to "Planes' the movie included.

5668

Omg grizzly three of them as well as everything else phew tiring. Finished Ms quilt finally yah. Done all Mums alterations as well yippee. Tonight I am working on J3s quilt.

5669

3 plus B8 and L6's 6 year old uncle as well, who is starting to call me Nana! It keeps the other kids guessing LOL. I will be pleased to see the end of today, I have to say. Although they will probably be here tomorrow, although my DIL has had a snit about something for a few weeks now and then haven't been here as much. No idea what it's about and happens once or twice a year so I'm inclined to let her just get over it. Too busy and too tired to buy into any more dramas. LOL. Hopefully we will get our potatoes in this weekend but the weather's not looking great.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-11 07:17:00
5670

No the weather is lousy. Mum wanted to go to the markets tomorrow but she has hibernated inside today lol. I am driving her home on Sunday. Have a hospital appointment at 12 on Monday so will have to drive back on Sunday night. Sigh. Knitting tonight.

makerealbany - 2013-10-11 20:20:00
5671

My son's family not coming over this weekend again. LOL. She really has a bee in her bonnet about something. Oh well I'm going to Dress Smart with my daughter today, not that I have any money to spend and I know I'll regret going once I have been dragged miles around the shops 2 or 3 times. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-12 09:24:00
5672

Mum has decided she wants to go home now!!!!! I will be ready in 15 mins lol have a great day browsing. Much better than driving ho ho

5673

3 hours of walking and had to make do with what we could find for food! I fell asleep in the lounge 20 minutes after we got home! LOL! Daughter bought some lovely work clothes, finally moved her away from black for the summer. Didn't find anything for me . Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-12 18:07:00
5674

Got home at 10.45 last night. Hellish drive down and back. Spent the day washing now I have to Hoover, polish and dust. Was up at 6 and I really need a nap. Walking for 3 hours shopping is not fun lol

makerealbany - 2013-10-13 14:10:00
5675

Especially to come home empty handed.! Redid our bedroom yesterday with new curtains, sheets and duvet set to match the chair. LOL. I. also the potatoes in so vege garden is complete. My hostas looked a bit chewed on Saturday so I laid snail bait over night. The flower bed is completely covered with snails, I've never seen anything like it. Yuck!

grizzly4 - 2013-10-14 07:45:00
5676

Yes heaps of snails here too. I have earmarked Thursday for the garden so fingers crossed. A wants a pillow slip to match M5s quilt as I made the quilt king single size. I have that all cut out. Was going to sew it this arvo but K4s mummy hurt her knee and cannot drive so I had to go pick him up from Preschool, drive him home to pick up more clothes and so he could see my daughter, then I brought him back, cooked tea, fed K, bathed him. After 3 stories and 2 songs he was asleep. For some reason my feet are burning. Sitting here with feet in cold water lol. I am going to cut out some patterns for the girls as soon as the biscuits are cooked. Then I will knit for an hour and head to bed.

Back to our normal routine at work after the school holidays, thank goodness but with so many changes afoot I don't think anything is going to feel normal again.
I am working on another prem matinee set for the shop.

Sounds lovely! The Women's Group is off to Tothills Mazes this morning for some fun.

My grandson from Christchurch is up. So nice to see him. All his little cousins nearly smothered him with kisses and hugs ha ha. Gosh I bought some material and postage from Auckland was quoted after I purchased at $12 I am querying it because it seems excessive. Same city courier is $8 max. !!!!!!!!! Got a much needed haircut feel like a new woman lol

makerealbany - 2013-10-16 21:25:00
5683

Busy, busy, busy at work. Was lots of fun at the maze yesterday though, they are a really good bunch of women. I am doing vintage Christmas cards with them next week so lots of shopping to do at LIncraft and Warehouse Stationary. I need to look into these dies you can buy to cut patterns into paper or card. Have you ever used them ?

grizzly4 - 2013-10-17 07:51:00
5684

No I haven't used them yeeeet grizzly lol.let us know what they are like if you try them. Took my 24 yr old grandson shopping for his birthday presents. Omg he is dreadful to shop with. I had forgotten how bad he was ha ha, after 3 hours I forced him into a dress shirt. I bought him two, not cheap but very nice. He also chose 6 prs sports sox. That was it. I wanted to get him some nice trousers but gave that idea up. Because he is so far away he misses out on a lot of family events. He is such a quiet young man so I have sent him off to his boisterous cousins tonight. Maybe they can bring him out of his shell lol. I doubt it.

makerealbany - 2013-10-17 21:16:00
5685

The die cut thingys are quite expensive. I wanted to create lace borders for the Christmas cards but it was over $50 for the lace cutter then you have to buy the board bits and various other attachments. The group budget won't stretch to that unfortunately.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-18 08:19:00
5686

Omg that is expensive. I'll give it a miss as well. I have not done any more sewing this week. I have K4. He arrived last night and goes home on Sunday morning. Mind you might take him home tomorrow night ha ha. I cannot do anything until he is in bed. M5 is sleeping over as well tonight and I am really buggered lol. Hope it is fine tomorrow so I can work in the garden and tire them out ha ha

makerealbany - 2013-10-18 20:53:00
5687

No family here again today. Daughter's work is part of a Community Day somewhere and DIL is still playing games it seems, but she has been unwell this week, too. My son will probably be oblivious to it all and happy to have time in his garage. LOL. I couldn't get to sleep till nearly 2 this morning, all the work stuff going on in my head. Woke up at 9.30 this morning. Couldn't believe it! Feels like I've lost half the day already.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-19 10:33:00
5688

Lovely weather down here this weekend, I am so enjoying pottering in the garden. I have decided my new project is to be the corner garden under the kitchen window. Half of it is fine as I added ferns and hostas under the hydrangea but the other half is awful with a hebe needing to be replaced, a rose needing to be controlled and a half grown cabbage tree that has increased to 3 that seems to have a thrip or similar attacking its leaves. It's in a very odd place now that it's bigger anyway so I need to rethink the whole spot.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-20 10:38:00
5689

Yes those cabbage trees need space. We planted out some on one of our new banks yesterday. Spent the morning gardening. The children love all the new cleared area down in the bottom paddock but we have heaps of planting to do. Going to the Dwali Festival this afternoon in the city.

makerealbany - 2013-10-20 10:53:00
5690

I went to a Diwali festival years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the music and dancing and all the amazing colours.
I think I was a bit cranky yesterday, poor I. Had a stress headache as well, sigh. So much for my relaxing weekend.

Hi Alley. Well that is good news about the shops success. Will have a peck when your Facebook page is set up.

We had a great day yesterday at the Festival. All of the kids did a bungee jump even little J3. I was worried but Mum and Dad were holding the ropes lol. He waved at me and let a rope go. Soon grabbed it again though lol. We had too much food. There were not many stalls selling goods and the ones they had were packed so we only bought food. I went to the gym and then cleaned the cottage and got into the garden. Too hot now so inside resting ha ha. I have to plant out more on the bank tonight when the sun goes down.

makerealbany - 2013-10-21 13:55:00
5694

I am having a real struggle with snails this year! Bait is down but still losing some baby plants. Grrr. I am nurturing fuscia cuttings on my window sill so I can fill in some gaps outside. LOL. I have about 5 or 6 different sorts here and they are beautiful in full flower. My other favourites are the dark orange day lillies. I brought 3 plants with me when we moved over 3 years ago and they have filled in the garden in front of the glass house now plus along the side as well once I started transplanting the babies each summer.
The rhododendron by my lounge window flowered for the first time since I bought it (this is the 3rd summer) and it's even nicer than I expected. Huge baby pink flowers with dark burgundy centres. Brilliant choice.

Looking forward to seeing your facebook page, alley6.

I have just finished sweeping the driveway after the last digger episode. What a mess took me two hours. Thank heavens I sprayed the weeds I wanted to kill before hand. I am sitting catching my breath, having a protein shake before I go and search for the spade my Sil has dropped somewhere on the property. Hope it is not buried in the new excavations lol. He flew out on Monday so we are planting this and that without 40 questions ha ha. We have lots of snails here too. I have to repot everything and was pulling pots out from under shrubs and they had snails everywhere yuk. I love Rhododendrons. Dad always had them. I had some on the farm but none here. I have one Fushia left. Now to find that jolly spade. I don't like using the heavy shovel.

makerealbany - 2013-10-22 11:17:00
5697

I hope you found it! Annoys me heaps when things aren't put back. Making a 'vintage' style Christmas card at the Women's Group this morning. Didn't get time yesterday to make up a demo so the finished products could be varied. LOL. Part of it is a flower with individual paper petals that have been curled, very effective if we can get it to work. Hands Craft Shop suggested using hairspray on the petals so they keep their shape. Tried one before I left the office last night so we shall see when I get there today.

grizzly4 - 2013-10-23 07:56:00
5698

Found the spade in the house wood box ????? Honestly my Sil sakes me where his tools are. He has no idea. I had to go right down the bottom of the paddock to look for the petrol cans. He used them for the digger and just left them Dow there and I swear he had been up and down at lest 20 times no kidding. Ah well. I washed another lot of fabrics yesterday afternoon for quilting. Got them all dry before dark. Today I have minded J3 all day and as soon as his Mum is home I have to go to Orewa to mind K4 as his Mum is working from 7 to 11. They are short staffed at the hospital and no wonder they work them so hard they leave. All of this elective caesarean s put so much pressure on. It cost 10 and a half thousand for the surgery and care. That goes out of the budget and that means less money for staff. There has been a 40 percent increase in caesareans. Fair enough if the baby or Mum is in trouble because of whatever but when women choose to have them and they do they should darn well pay. I am not being ethnocentric but certain ethnic groups scream and cry and demand them. Stats prove it. So called Specialists let them as well. Did you know that Gyne Specialists are paid by the hospital for say a day shift and all their patients have appointments for that day. Therefore they are paid by us the Taxpayer and at the same time by their wealthy patients who may even end up having their babies in the public hospital. It is a darn racket and stinks. Talk about double dipping. Rant over.

makerealbany - 2013-10-23 15:39:00
5699

And well said too! The rest of us would never know these things go on unless those that do speak out. I heard on the news last night that politicians are getting a raise in pay before Christmas! CPI is 1.4 per cent for past 12 months but I bet their increase goes way beyond that.

All day at Barrington Mall tomorrow with another stall then off to Blenheim to see Mum and Dad for the weekend.
