wow those are awesome judy... Now here a question for you guys... What kind of batting do you use???

In my "Moon over the Mountain" quilt for our bed I used wool, and hand quilted it. It is our summertime blanket. It was so lovely to quilt.

For these Canteen Bandanna ones I have used old wool blankets in some (because I had them available) and dacron in one. The latest one for my grand niece has dacron cos I imagine it will need washing more often.

cool. My hubby's "scraps" quilt will be using an old (bright orange) wool blanket. For everything else i have done so far i've used "warm and natural" cotton batting... I dont like the idea of using polyester in between all that lovely cotton... Only problem is it's expensive. Why does no one sell batting on TM???

And so much for no sewing today... managed to get all the blocks sewn and pressed. Now all i need to do is trim them up, and put the top together :O

i have to admit i use dacron/polyester batting in all my quilts. because that washes better
imo the wool blankets would be harder to wash, they will have to be washed by hand, i was given a piece of cotton batting but havent used it yet,
judy the quilt for your g/niece is awesome

I agree about the wool blanket and washing it - but, I have attached labels on the back of those ones and suggested they are handwashed with woolmix and state that there is wool inside. I hope whoever wins a quilt, will treat it with respect but that will be out of my hands.

Hi Liz, i use cotton batting just cause its so soft and cuddly :)

you do have to wash it before using it tho but thats not a big deal it goes in the washing machine in a cold wash.

Got 3 fat 1/4's at $3 each, for my stash, another 3 fat 1/4's at full price, but stil LOVELY, and 1/2 m of blue with Betrix Potter characters all over... Also they do a loyalty card, every 1/4m or fat 1/4 bought gets a stamp (excluding sale ones but they gave me an extra) Every 2 metres (8 stamps) you get a free 1/4m or fat 1/4!

LOL Twilight do you think i may have a little tiny addiction hmmmm looking that way. Hubby said i could in my will leave a machine to each daughter i wonder if he has even thought that grandaughter may like one as well - ohhhh i reakon she would aye which means i would have to buy a 4th one............ oh but what if the new baby is a girl too ohhhh this could go on and on haha lol

coalrange1 - 2010-02-23 12:13:00
5648

Well so far people seem to think it's a good machine (asked in parenting too. Will need to get a darning/embroidery foot for free motion quilting, as it doesn't have one, but still cheaper than buying a 1/4" foot and a walking foot

liz_taylor - 2010-02-23 12:23:00
5649

so coalie that FOA (fabric obsession/addition)
and now SOA (singer obsession/addition)
that trader said he did have 2 more!!!!!!! lol hehe
