Yes fingers crossed Suzy. It is a hard market out there.

Yes Doctors are not Gods grizzly. How is your Mum coping with yours Dads sad news? I spent the day sewing and hid at home lol. So nice to Max out. Could not find my ordinary presses foot for the machine. Gremlins have it because it was here Sat. Had to use the zigzag foot. Did the job.

makerealbany - 2013-09-09 20:19:00
5603

I have the same gremlins here too, especially with I. home during the days. LOL. Have you seen the news about the Transfield contracts here in Christchurch? I. works for one of the larger sub-contractor's!!!!! Looks like he may not have a job once he's fit to go back. Sigh. There's always something isn't there?

grizzly4 - 2013-09-10 08:09:00
5604

Yes I was just reading all about Transfield. This is just another darn blow to people in Christchurch who are trying to get on their feet. Bloody typical of large Companies. The sub contractors will all be in financial difficulties. Sometimes people buy vehicles, etc, etc because they assume the work will be there and then wham they are dropped from a great height. My Sil still hasn't got a job overseas as mining has slowed, contracts are tight, etc, etc. He doesn't want to go to Indonesia and we don't want him too either. He is a Flying Instructor as well as a helli pilot but times are tough. He's done his years in Canada. Too far away with a family. My daughter has heaps of jobs offered to her all the time but she is tired. Little J had blood tests today as they are concerned about his constant high temps and swollen glands sigh.

makerealbany - 2013-09-10 19:42:00
5605

It's really hard isn't it? I. was told yesterday his company is ok 'cos they were one of the few with signed contracts.
Last night was scary one with winds over 100k's down here. Thank goodness we weren't further out of town as they were even worse. I was terrified for our huge front window as it kept being hit by debris, The Z service station sign across the road was bending and then flipping back!
We lost power for short periods a couple of times during the evening but all seems calm this morning if a be wet. We appear to have acquired a huge blue tarpaulin lol.

So angry with myself. I always keep my batches of same colour baby wool separate but I have just finished a baby jacket to find one sleeve and the hood is a lighter shade. Grrrrrr! I will have to sell as second as I have no more of the shade most of the jacket is done in. So frustrating!
Has the storm reached your end of the country yet, makerealbany?

grizzly4 - 2013-09-12 08:35:00
5607

We have had lots of torrential rain but that's it really. Lucky us. How frustrating with the wool grizzly. I picked up a knit wit folded cardboard base to lay on the table so I could cut patterns with no mishap. I am thrilled with it got it for 16 on TM . I cleaned until 12 last night including all the darn silver. So tonight I can knit. I also got the backing for M's quilt with my 40 percent off I got it for 28 so very happy with that. I also take my own bag and they stamp a card for me every time after 5 visits I get 20 percent off the next purchase.

makerealbany - 2013-09-12 17:18:00
5608

Oh yes forgot to say my grandson down there was sent home from work when you had that big storm. Everyone went home. He said it was scary and he never says that.

makerealbany - 2013-09-12 17:20:00
5609

I was worried for my son and his family as they took the boys to see the Breakers game and had to drive home in the storm. Not good. Still haven't resolved the valance issue so have asked her for a refund now plus the cost of returning it o her. Will see what her response is now. Not very hopeful, really. She sells to fundraise for a church. I am home today with a very sore hip again. I had a bad night coughing after the nor'west storm, probably all the dust, and I always suffer with my hip or back afterward. At least I can knit. You should have seen the colour of my window sills even though the windows were closed tight during the storm!

grizzly4 - 2013-09-13 08:39:00
5610

Yes I bet all the dust and dirt blew in. Hope you get the valance issue sorted. I'm lucky I get a sore back but never sore hips. Hope you are feeling better. I went to Housie and won the meat raffle again. Tee hee. Steak, sausages and pork chops. Dropped the steak and sausages into my daughters as she has a houseful this weekend. Snuck the pork chops home before my grandsons spied them ha ha. I have lots of sausages and steak in freezer already from my wins. Still no results of little Js latest tests. He is as bright as a button today. Bless him.

makerealbany - 2013-09-13 21:30:00
5611

Still arguing about the valance. She is refusing a refund now. Sigh. I hate conflict. Jinx, our ginger cat is unwell again. I have managed to get little bits of food into her over the past 24 hours but this morning had to resort to a little beaten egg and milk to get fluids in. I wish I knew what it was.

Poor Jynx it is awful when they can't tell you. I still miss Paws. Jed is getting on in years but still king of the castle. What a nasty seller! I have been very lucky so far except for one parcel that never arrived. She swore she sent it and I gave up in the end and blacklisted her teehee. I spent last night taking curtain tapes and linings off some English curtains I was given in our community group. The cream satin brocade will look fab in a quilt. The floral ones will make good backing material as they are as wide as two doubles for a ranch slider size and no joins. I was delighted to get them. Babysitting young J and miss M as their parents and my other kids are all at the game. At lest it has stopped raining. My ex Sil brought a box of material, bia binding, etc up from Hamilton for me. Couldn't resist it on TM. Great price and no postage. Winning lol. I'm lucky we get on really well and he is one of The family after all. My grandchildren are nearly 20 and 18 now and he comes up often. Although the kids go there for a weekend with their mates every so often. J the 18 year old Girl has been accepted into a Uni tourism and hospitality course in Queenstown so she will be off in Jan. she's the sporty one. Received an award for excellence in sports at school on Friday. We will all miss her next year.

Great score with those curtains. I have given up with the valance, she says she is too sick now (?). I am over it and I hope she gets well soon if she is truly unwell. Jinx is still not improving much although she was happy to share the chicken I cooked for tea last night! LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-15 10:05:00
5614

Well that is a good sign that she ate the chicken. Shame about the valance. I spent the day with my son. My grandson was 12 yesterday but of course he never arrived from Hamilton until 4 and then they all went to the game lol. Had a nice day just chilling and playing with the kids and their light sabers. Star Wars is very popular as are hot wheels and transformers. Even little E plays with them.

makerealbany - 2013-09-15 20:13:00
5615

B5 is into Lego big time and Batman but has been brought up on Star Wars, too. LOL. The other 2 are into angry birds currently but they change regularly. Despite my back I had a great weekend and have a nice we stash of knitting for the shop this morning.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-16 07:42:00
5616

I have spent the day after the gym sorting out material, washing material and cutting material ho ho. Now it's time for knitting. Watching the hoarding programme. Cannot believe it !!!!!!! I know I hoard but not like that. Mind you have lost that pressed foot. Checked all the toy boxes and Narda. Maybe it went out in a bin grrrrr. Ah well. Did Suzy hear anything about that job?

makerealbany - 2013-09-16 18:55:00
5617

Yep, she got it! I thought she had posted a message but can't find it now.
I must have been thinking of a txt. LOL. The memory is definitely not what it was! Jinx is skin and bone but could only tempt her with a bit of cheese yesterday and a bit of milk and egg this morning. Reminds of when we lost our dog to cancer years ago. You think that would have showed up in the blood tests though, don't you think?

grizzly4 - 2013-09-17 08:02:00
5618

Congratulations Suzy

makerealbany - 2013-09-17 10:58:00

Yes you would think so but tests only show what they are tested for. Sounds like double Dutch aye. Poor Jinx.

makerealbany - 2013-09-17 11:05:00
5620

Found her stalking a bird yesterday! We bought fresh beef yesterday and she ate that for tea and had salmon pate and a bit of milk this morning. I have bought a couple of chicken carcasses to boil up broth as well for the next time she is off her food. But it seems we have a reprieve for today at least.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-18 07:59:00
5621

That's good grizzly. Lets hope she keeps eating. Another busy day with the boys. Went and visited my little granddaughter tonight. She has been out of sorts lately but played happily with me and let me feed her her tea. Came home and I am so tired think Ill have an early night lol

makerealbany - 2013-09-18 21:41:00
5622

Too many staff away this week! Did a 9 hour day yesterday, was knackered by the time I got home. Thank goodness knitting and chocolate are so therapeutic! LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-19 07:51:00
5623

Spent the morning after the school run and gym ironing for my daughter. Just finished and found 4 things to mend. Lol. I intend to sit now and knit. My kitchen floor needs cleaning but my feet need a rest ha ha. I'll do it later. Was going to sew but the ironing beckoned. 4 hours. Not going to let it build up again. I do mine every week. Sil has a job overseas. Not sure when he starts but that takes the pressure off. He was getting depressed and no wonder. Said the kids drive him crazy lol. Welcome to a woman's world. Ho ho.

makerealbany - 2013-09-19 13:40:00
5624

That will be hard for your daughter again, won't it? I'm so glad it's Friday, It's hard work doing my admin job plus running one of the programmes. Everyone better be back on board next week. I have to say I've enjoyed working with the kids again after12 years of doing other roles at work. But very tiring especially the noise when they all have to come inside because it starts raining. I've finished a baby cardy this week as well, just have to find buttons to match the caramel colour. Well I'm off to watch what will hopefully be the last Cup race before going to work.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-20 08:06:00
5625

Not the last race! And not 22 degrees today either, I was freezing by the time I got home tonight. But the good news is my meeting tomorrow has been cancelled. Yippee! After the yacht race I will get to play in the garden!

grizzly4 - 2013-09-20 18:57:00
5626

Good on you grizzly have a good day tomorrow. Yes it will be hard on my daughter again sigh. At Mainly Music the other day I nearly covered my ears because of the noise lol. Got a new phone today. My battery kept draining . I checked my account and my contract had expired so I got another one cheaper, more free minutes and a 350 new phone free. Yippee. Still on the cardi knitting.

makerealbany - 2013-09-20 20:22:00
5627

Well that was a frustrating first race this morning, wasn't it? Interesting watching and listening to how different people deal with disappointment, really. My husband was certainly venting big time. We haven't been that interested in the America's Cup since we won it all those years ago, especially when I think of all the money spent on it but with I. at home lately, I think he has watched every race. LOL.
I couldn't understand why the beanie I am doing has taken longer to knit than the others and last I put it down to trying to copy the pattern on the jacket on to it. This morning I have realised I have started doing the largest size!!!! GRRR! Oh well I can rip out the extra length and redo the shaping while the next race is on. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-21 09:30:00
5628

I was as mad as hell about the 1st race yesterday. Darn time limit so know how I feels ha ha. I wondered why the fronts seemed bigger than the back of the cardi and duh I was knitting them for M's size instead of little E. so I undid them and had to start again sigh. Must have been something in the wind grizzly. Got woken up by the lightening and thunder last night. Worst I have ever heard and seen. Could not sleep but got up to turn all the electrical s off. It was darn horrible. Scary too. M got into her parents bed she was so scared. K slept thru it all thank heavens. Jed was yowling to go outside. I let him out onto my deck which is sheltered now with the roof. 5 mins later he was back inside.

makerealbany - 2013-09-22 20:42:00
5629

I'll bet he was! LOL.The lightening shown on tv was incredible, would not liked to have been trying to sleep through all that. As for the racing I have to leave for the shop before the first race starts, so I'll bet it's a good one since I will be missing it. I see online that there is a whale sighting in the bay which could disrupt the race. LOL. The lengths the Americans go to, eh? LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-23 07:41:00
5630

Everyone at the gym this morning commented on today's races. Well we have to wait again. Lovely day up here. I am sewing lol

makerealbany - 2013-09-23 13:12:00
5631

Back to normal at work this week but big changes on the horizon so I didn't sleep much last night. I have some decisions to make and I don't know which way to go. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-24 07:54:00
5632

You'll work it out. Just take your time. Lousy weather here. Just knitting, baking and keeping warm and dry lol

makerealbany - 2013-09-24 13:51:00
5633

What a horrible night. Fine now and seems far too calm. Hope it is not just a pause to trick us. Off to last day of Mainly Music for the term with Spider-Man and lightening McQueen lol. They love the dress ups. Have a good day grizzly.

makerealbany - 2013-09-25 07:24:00
5634

Sorry to hear about your night, awful when it's scary and out of control. End of term seems to have come round very fast and, of course, I'll have early starts for the next 2 weeks. Early finishes too, though, which will be even better with daylight saving starting this weekend. I have made my decision but now it's all hush, hush for 6 weeks and I have to appear normal for that time. I can say I'm not leaving the organisation I'm with. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-25 07:50:00
5635

Hi ladies, sorry i have been a bit slack in posting, Yes got my job and all is going well, already been invited to 2 functions lol.
Going to Auckland this weekend with My 26 year old daughter to watch Wicked at the Civic, should be good, My younger one has been collecting those little food items from New World, i don't usually shop there but have been buying a few items just to get her one or two. Kids !!!!!!!!!:)
Hope Jinx is doing ok for now Grizzly, i am working in the shop on Tuesday afternoons for a while untill the regular lady gets better.

suzy59nz - 2013-09-25 22:51:00
5636

Jinx is driving us nuts with her crying at the fridge door every time we go near the kitchen. We have to feed her in the laundry because she's bullying the other 2 away from their bowls. It's either one extreme or the other. Maybe it's her brain that's not right. LOL. At least she's put on weight, can't say she's happy though.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-26 08:10:00
5637

Phew what a mission! Photographed and measured lots more fabric and wool this morning before work and now just listed it all as a fundraiser for the shop.

Had a chance to moan and then couldn't post again. Weird gremlins. Congrats on your new job Suzy.

makerealbany - 2013-09-26 23:23:00
5640

Wow that worked. Jed is like that grizzly moans for food takes a bite or two then marches outside, does the circuit and comes back to finish his food. Does this for a week than settles down for a couple of weeks than does it again.

makerealbany - 2013-09-26 23:26:00
5641

Pets are as much work as kids, eh? LOL. I'm half way through a hoody jacket but had to stop to do 6 prs of prem bootees for TM. I was hoping I had enough of the colour I chose for pair 5 but half way through the first one obviously I'm not. Grrrr. Have to start that pair again.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-27 07:53:00
5642

So glad today was a child free day lol. Next shift tomorrow night. I have washed so much material. Then one needs to iron it before I can cut sigh. Js birthday is days away and I have not finished his quilt. It's just go, go, go here. I never have enough time to get things done. Darn it. Ah well. Daylight savings and all that ha ha.

makerealbany - 2013-09-27 23:02:00
5643

I need some sunny days when I'm at home. Desperate to get into the garden. What I achieved a few weeks ago is starting to be needed to be done again. Such a pain.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-28 09:12:00
5644

My goodness B5 just doesn't shut up! Not for a second from the time he arrives till he goes home. L6 was trying to find peace most of the day to no avail. I am so enjoying the quiet this evening. Trouble is B5 is attending the holiday programme at work for the next 2 weeks and I get the pleasure of driving all the way across town with him before 8am every morning. I am going to be exhausted before I even get to work.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-28 19:37:00
5645

Lol grizzly know what you mean. J is 3 on the 6th and he never stops talking either ha ha. I'm up at 5. Going up to mind K4. Spent the day basting a quilt. Takes ages and another 3 hours work to finish the basting. I purchased a can of the spray on stuff but will experiment with a smaller quilt to use that.

makerealbany - 2013-09-28 23:10:00
5646

Sounds like a huge job. I am finishing the jacket I started before the bootee order came through and hoping the drizzle stops so I can get out in the garden.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-29 10:05:00
5647

I finished the jacket and have decided to redo two of the pairs of bootees as I'm not happy with the colours I used.

grizzly4 - 2013-09-30 07:13:00
5648

You are a tiger for punishment grizzly. Ha ha. I would not have redone them. Everyone is at Rainbows end so I am washing. After I put the next load in I will continue basting the quilt. Little J wants his as well. Lol. I have a Urology test on Thursday so have to keep a diary of everything. It's easy to forget to measure before you drink. I have waited 9 months for this test so cannot muck it up ha ha.

makerealbany - 2013-09-30 12:15:00
5649

Sewing today before I have to pick K4 up from Holiday programme. My two you ger sisters got up at 4 this morning. Traveled from Rotorua to Auckland airport. Tried to. Check in on their flight to The states. No can do flight leaves tonight lol. Poor things my Bil was panicking this morning because they were fussing around he says. Anyway they are all laughing now. Lol. They were still trying to get me to go on Sunday. I couldn't go because my youngest sister is really sick and my other sister just got back from Perth so at lest there will be two of us in the country if anything happens to Mum or our terminal sis. You have to be organised just in case. Sounds terrible but no use ignoring facts. When my daughter was on her big trip her first hubby's grandma died and his mother made them come home from Turkey. It was crazy. His Nana said goodbye to them and told them not to come home if she died. I have told my sisters not to worry and we will cope here. One of them has never had a great holiday like this one and she really deserves it. Not bad day here. Yesterday wasn't so good. Darn wind.

Lovely here too, but had to do groceries when I finished work. No gardening today. I. has his next surgeon's appointment tomorrow so no gardening tomorrow either and then I think the weather is supposed to turn for the rest of the week. Typical.
