Good idea getting comfortable foot rests. You can't enjoy the ride if your feet and legs get sore. Roll on summer. I won the meat raffle at the club today so I am happy lol. Still haven't decided on a project so have been cutting out shapes for my quilts. I have 3 in my head ha ha. makerealbany - 2013-08-16 19:23:00
You have to feed the ideas down to your hands! Tv can't be fixed so now waiting to see if Samsung will come to the party. grizzly4 - 2013-08-17 09:09:00
I hope they will grizzly. How old is it.? It's funny but sometimes you have so many darn ideas floating around in your head it is hard to make a decision on the next project lol. Anyway M was here last night and at 5 she had her projects sorted out for me to do for her in about 10 mins lol. She wants a bookshelf skirt which looks pretty easy. I need half a yard of linen but don't have any so will substitute something else. I have all the large rectangles to sew for her quilt today so we will see if I can start the skirt as well ha ha makerealbany - 2013-08-17 11:10:00
Spent the day sewing the quilt. Quilt making does take a lot of time but worth it in the end. I baked some bread and made a mistake of having a fresh hot sandwich. Lol no cooking tea for me tonight. I am now crocheting some more squares and flowers. I just put them in a basket to use in an unforeseen future project. Ha ha. Sometimes making little things after working on a big project is quite fun. I will crochet for another hour and then I have to cut out some shapes for M's skirt. She is a slave driver that girl. "Have you done it yet Nana?" Ha ha makerealbany - 2013-08-17 18:36:00
LOL. She sounds lovely and keeps you on your toes. Still knitting bootees etc for orders, I'm getting a bit bored with them now and want to do something different. LOL. I am very worried about Mum and Dad in Blenheim. They lost the rest of their ornaments and their pantry emptied itself in the quakes on Friday. They sound very anxious and I hate thinking of them going through what we did and feeling how we did/do still. I would love to go up and be with them but roads are still closed and it does my head in thinking about experiencing more earthquakes. I also hate feeling this useless about it all . I vented to my counsellor sister in an email this morning but feel even worse now because she is Wellington going through it as well. Can't win. And we won't mention sick cat and terminal appliances. grizzly4 - 2013-08-18 10:46:00
Yes you would be worried about your parents. I really feel for you all. Both my sons had flown back Thurs night. They are off again tomorrow. My son's staff rang him all shaken up so he told them to lock up and go home. My son said that they were given lifts by lovely people because they all catch the train to work. When you are elderly it must be a nightmare going through earthquakes repeatedly. It's not as if they are very mobile. Just came back from a family dinner at my sons. My Dil is a fantastic cook. I am not eating another thing tonight lol. It was our late Birthday dinner. My granddaughter has her birthday the day before mine and my daughter two days later so we were celebrating all 3. Got more pressies and money. I am very lucky. Hope the roads open soon. makerealbany - 2013-08-18 17:06:00
Sounds like a great birthday celebration! grizzly4 - 2013-08-19 07:48:00
Glad to got to have a talk with your Mum. My Mum is the same. She said she will just sit in her lazy boy. She is pretty laid back. She always says "I have had a long life, don't worry about me. When the good lord wants me to go I will go" of course we worry. She is determined to keep living by herself. If my sisters visit too much she says "Don't keep checking on me. You make me feel like a kid again" if I ring too much I get the same story lol. I am off to the gym. Probably feel lousy later but I need to do it lol. My waistline has disappeared. makerealbany - 2013-08-19 09:12:00
All my orders finished, thank goodness! What shall I do now, I ask myself, rubbing my hands in glee. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-08-20 08:32:00
I am going to sew up M's Bookworm skirt when I get back from the gym. She ran over this morning before school to check on it. Lol. I spent yesterday afternoon moving furniture because my son and his wife gave me a new dining suite for my birthday and it arrives this week. It is rectangle which will fit better than my circular table. Plus it will be better for cutting out ha ha. I had to move a huge unit up so had to empty the darn thing. I have a huge stereo system that I had on the farm and never use it so I rang my daughter and asked if she wanted it. She is pleased and so am I. I can give her the record collection as well. It has 5 speakers and 2 are very big so more room for my crafts. Lol. She has an 18 and 20 year old so they are eager to get more "sounds" as they call it. makerealbany - 2013-08-20 09:11:00
Love it when a plan comes together and you can pass on 'stuff'. LOL. I did a beanie with ear flaps rom a new pattern. It's stripey and I used colours I wouldn't normally put together but I had bits to use up. So effective I have to do another tonight. Great fun. Playing mini-golf with women's group today but having a later start as the venue doesn't open till 12. I had a nice lie in and will tomorrow, too, as having the day off to go with I. to see surgeon to find out the treatment plan they have decided on. grizzly4 - 2013-08-21 09:06:00
Hope all goes well at the surgeons for I. I dropped K and J to preschool this morning, filled up the car, went to the gym and then ran into Farmers sale to get a new iron. I was ironing my sewing and Jed ran past and got caught in the cord. The iron just crashed to the floor and smashed. Also chipped some tiles. What a mess. Poor cat was terrified. Came home and I have just finished cleaning and I am resting lol. The second session at the gym was hard. I am nursing my back and being careful with my feet. A bit stiff and sore but that is to be expected. Didn't sew a stitch or knit a stitch last night. Ah well tonight is baking night as I am babysitting at the weekend, makerealbany - 2013-08-22 13:28:00
Raining again. Got all my washing dry yesterday so that was good. Ended up crocheting around buttons for Ms cardi. Could not find any to suit anywhere. She has been wearing it with no buttons lol. Sleeves were ok. She likes them said they look like flowers. It is a bulky knit so that helped. How did I's visit to the Specialist go? Wonder how smart girl is doing? Wonder how Zoe is doing? Been awhile since she started this thread. Bless her. makerealbany - 2013-08-23 08:31:00
Oh no! Doesn't sound like a great day at all. My day off was spent listing more fabric for the shop in the morning, at surgeons then browsing for a pretty chair for our bedroom which is our next project. Ended the day weeding a couple of flower beds. Surgeon gave I. an injection of cortisone which wasn't pleasant for either of us and he has another 6 weeks off at least, he starts physio at the gym next week with strict instructions not to stess the knee. (Why go then?, LOL). I have finished my 3rd beanie, I'm loving this pattern, might try the other one tonight. grizzly4 - 2013-08-23 08:34:00
The other beanie pattern is just as nice!! I bought them from electa on TM. Check out he auctions. I was able to get emergency supplies of baby wool after the earthquakes from her as well. Great trader. grizzly4 - 2013-08-24 10:11:00
Yes I will check her auctions lol. I had Three of my grandchildren last night. Parents are in Welli for the All Blacks game. J is a lousy sleeper so I am looking forward to a better night tonight hopefully. My son has just been to pick up M who packed two bags to stay a night. Takes after her Mum that girl ha ha. I have litte J and K for the night and then my daughter will pick up her boy tomorrow morning. I have nearly finished the washing last load in. Just have to unload the dishwasher then I can sit for a minute or two. Promised the boys we would go outside to play so better have that break. Ah Ah too late they have their gumboots on. Better run. makerealbany - 2013-08-24 12:23:00
I had B8 and L6 over night. B moaned he was bored all afternoon and L had a couple of melt downs with his brother. They woke us at 3, all lights on laughing and carrying on and then again at 6. What a nightmare. I'm giving them breakfast and then delivering them home. I am steadily working round the flower beds, tidying them up. It will be the first spring in years that my spring flowers aren't sharing the beds with weeds. Usually the weather is so bad with snow etc I can't get out there. The purple and yellow polys out by the clothesline do my heart good every time I'm out there. I filled one difficult bit with small native grasses and ajuga as ground cover around my bird bath. Currently working on more 'Barbie' jackets in the Panda Circus yarn again. grizzly4 - 2013-08-25 08:18:00
Well both my grandsons had a nap in the afternoon. J was watching a movie and fell asleep in the lazy boy and K did the same 10 mins later. Had a late tea and then bathed them. I managed to get them asleep after playing musical beds, just before the rugby. I only watched it until the score was 18 to 9. I was so tired I dropped into bed. They woke at 7 30 thank heavens. I have been running ever since lol. Just waiting for K's mum to pick him up. When A and S get home I am off to the library. No crafts thus far and no wonder ha ha. My garden is a mess but next weekend I can do something in it. Weeds everywhere. Sigh. makerealbany - 2013-08-25 09:47:00
I have bought myself a new chair for the bedroom to start the restyling of that room next. A lovely light teal colour. I went to put the new valance I bought on TM on spare bed to find it is only a single size and the I found cat claw marks on the base of the new bed. Absolutely furious with both!!!! And paranoid now about new chair! New duvet ordered online and drapes on layby. Going for teal, navy and creamy white as new colour scheme. grizzly4 - 2013-08-25 17:37:00
Colour scheme sounds lovely. Where did you buy the bed from. I would be furious too. D and Sil arrived home at 5.15. I am now home and loving it ha ha. Although I have K again Tom night as daughter is working Tues, mind you he will be at Preschool for the day. My sewing is winking at me but I am too knackered lol. makerealbany - 2013-08-25 18:18:00
LOL. Bed didn't have marks on it when I bought it new a couple of months ago. I can thank one of my girls for the damage. Grrrr. I only have the problem of one of them scratching really, thank goodness. grizzly4 - 2013-08-26 07:51:00
J scratches on the carpet near the door when he wants to go outside and bats on the door when he wants to come in. I don't have a cat door. When he was a kitten we had one at our last place and he would not use it no matter what we did grrrrr. He is too darn old to change now. I am going to clean the pit that used to be my car before it rains again. Iron arrived force decking roof. So fingers crossed. makerealbany - 2013-08-26 13:43:00
I must have pinched a nerve with my last play in the garden. I have a dragging pain from my back and decreased sensation in the skin over my hip. Weirdest thing as this odd sore patch on my leg, have never had anything like it. I'm falling apart LOL, but refuse to pay for a doctor's before my prescriptions need filling next week. Thank goodness I have a short week this week as I've been told to use up some sick leave, Apparently I have too much stored up. I don't need to be told twice so I have a 4 day weekend to look forward to. Hip or not I'm back in the garden if the weather stays nice. grizzly4 - 2013-08-27 08:24:00
Yikes that will hurt grizzly. I took the boys to preschool and have just finished cleaning my place and my daughters sigh. Raining so washing on inside lines drat. I am going to potter with my sewing until I have to pick up K. Bit stiff from gym yesterday but I will carry on going even if it painful lol. My recovery rate is great so that's a bonus. makerealbany - 2013-08-27 10:54:00
Got a message from Emirates and all the reward points I received from my trip to Europe were due to expire so I used them to book a trip to Brisbane in February. My daughter told me not to worry about the kids as one of them is giving up work yippee ho ho and the other one is asking for leave. Now I have to save my pennies so no more buying wool or material lol. I do have enough of both to last for awhile anyway. I cannot believe it has been 3 years since My big holiday. I have been to Rarotonga in that time but that was short and sweet. I have a lot of family in Brisbane . M is sick aggggain sigh. makerealbany - 2013-08-28 10:21:00
Raining again. Woke up at 2 could not sleep so worked on quilt. The darn rotary cutter was a real pain. Replaced the blade and had trouble. Anyway I managed with the smaller one. Had 9 rectangles I had stitched together 28 inches by 14 that I had to even up. Went to bed again at 4 ha ha. So today I am off to the gym, then have to get cat food and milk, drop into library and then home to sew the quilt squares together. If nothing else stops me I can even baste the whole thing together. Fingers crossed. makerealbany - 2013-08-29 09:11:00
My goodness you have been up for hours. I am having an email argument with a seller I bought the valance from for the new double bed in the spare room. I checked for stains etc and posted positive feedback but it wasn't till I went to put it on the bed a few weeks later I found she has sent me a single size! She wasn't pleasant to deal with in the first place saying she couldn't find my payment which was made the day after purchase. Even worse dealing with her now. I understand her being upset with my delay and I have apologised but doesn't change the fact what I received wasn't what she was advertising. What do you think? grizzly4 - 2013-08-29 09:16:00
If she advertised it as a larger one I would complain alright. May be even to trademe. Talk about false advertising. Some people are horrible to deal with. Well I got all of the front stitched together but I don't like the backing I have so will have to get something else. I have done my ironing and now I have to Hoover. Cotton everywhere lol. makerealbany - 2013-08-29 17:45:00
Thank God it's Friday. My day out. Freezing here. Even Jed is not venturing outside lol. Dehumidifier going flat out. I even put my electric blanket on last night. Have a great day. makerealbany - 2013-08-30 07:33:00
Temperatures are definitely cooler here too but sunny so nice in the lounge. LOL She complained to TM herself and was told she had to sort it out but now she is away on holiday. Sigh. grizzly4 - 2013-08-30 08:08:00
What did she have to complain about? What a darn cheek. makerealbany - 2013-08-30 11:29:00
M decided she wanted diamonds on the white rectangles of her fairy quilt so I have just cut those out. Lucky I had not backed it already. It will look nicer lol. Going to knit this afternoon as I have had a busy day so far. Gym, shopping and visitors just as I was going to cut out. Ah well rest time now. makerealbany - 2013-08-31 13:24:00
Omg came up at 5 to Orewa. Reversed back and heard a bang. Stopped the Beamer and got out. Walked smack bang into my daughters black Volvo. It is never parked there and it was pitch black. Went forward and the reversed out of the drive up the hill and the darn neighbour had parked his big truck on the road close to our driveway. I cursed and got around it but had to go as close to the ditch as I could. Just spoke to my Sil and he said A's car hasn't got a scratch and nieither has mine. Thank heavens. What a stressful way to start the day. At lest I can relax now with K and his new Griffon puppy. Lol makerealbany - 2013-09-01 08:22:00
I hope your day improved after all the drama! I enjoyed my 4 day weekend but only got a little bit of time in the garden. Finished a cardy and and 2 prs of bootees for the shop and started funding applications for the shop as well, and some flyers for craft classes that are starting soon. I have a new sewing table on wheels so I can follow the sun around, LOL, but at least I got some mending done. grizzly4 - 2013-09-02 07:41:00
I love that sewing table lol just came home from gym and my right foot is playing up. I am going to keep going no matter what. Bugger it I am enjoying it so much. Have housework to do and it is a beautiful day here. Want to sew the diamonds on M's quilt and finish the back of E's Chrissy present cardi. Now that they are all growing flat tack I have to make them all bigger ha ha. Takes longer but I like to make them so they can grow I to them. makerealbany - 2013-09-02 10:18:00
My main presents for the boys for Christmas are done plus some stocking fillers. I'm not sure about the adults yet. I know I. wants new tools for his new tool chest so that's easy enough. DIL looked horrified when I suggested paying for her First Aid Certificate for Christmas as she needs it to start Midwifery if she's accepted. Yep, we're going through that process again. She is redoing the 2 subjects that she passed but not high enough for entry even though she received an acceptance letter! It was such a mess. She couldn't get a Student Loan to redo the subjects this semester either because technically she had already passed them! Daughter wans petrol vouchers for their trip south. It will be our first Christmas apart. She has just bought an Audi TT Sport so petrol is probably a good idea. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-09-03 07:58:00
Wow you are on to it for the pressies grizzly. I bought J his birthday pressies. Hot wheels car thingy that you wet and the cars change colour and an iron man. I will have to get his quilt done too. Only 5 weeks away approx. I am sewing on the diamonds as soon as I post this for M. So busy not enough time ha ha. makerealbany - 2013-09-03 12:58:00
I can absolutely relate to that. Went to B5's school performance last night. He was a star! His class sang 'Heroes' in Batman and Superman costumes with actions. It was wonderful and so, so funny. grizzly4 - 2013-09-04 08:01:00
I just love watching my grandchildren perform in and out of shows ha ha. I went into spotlight to buy the backing for M's Quilt. I already paid 46 dollars for the batting, 60 Dollars for the material and the backing is another 60. I hummed and Haaad and came home with a half metre of material for 2.50 lol. I might wait until they have another special on backing. If it was summer I could buy some cotton sheets. It's a king single . Anyway I will carry on with Js until I work it out makerealbany - 2013-09-04 18:13:00
Your quilts are quite an investment. grizzly4 - 2013-09-05 08:11:00
Yes they are grizzly. Future family heirlooms ha ha. I worked on J's quilt today but I have had enough of quilting for the day ho ho. Will knit tonight after I have hoovered the house and coloured my hair. Sewing is a messy business, cotton everywhere. Some materials really drop heaps when you cut them. Sil has put up half of my roof over the deck but weather was lousy today so he could not finish. Looking good. I will be glad to get the other table out on the verandah when it is finished. A bit cramped inside at the moment. Organic collection next week so will be busy putting things out on Saturday. I have a pile near my front door. Will be glad to get it out of the way. makerealbany - 2013-09-05 15:36:00
I understand that. I. has cleaned out the garage so he can move around all the bikes he is working on. It's going to cost a bomb to take it to the dump which is why he hasn't done it yet. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-09-06 08:00:00
Yes it is expensive to go to the dump. We are so lucky with our collection. Mind you our rates are astronomical we have to be appeased in some way lol. I am off to bingo with the crew and it is a lovely day. Enjoy. makerealbany - 2013-09-06 11:43:00
I'm off to work in the shop with Sue today, haven't caught up with her in ages. Lovely sunny day so hopefully can get into the garden this afternoon. grizzly4 - 2013-09-07 08:30:00
Went to the gym still nursing my right foot. Came home did some gardening and now sitting lol. Cannot sew today foot too darn sore and I am hopeless at sewing with my left foot. Doesn't feel right ha ha. Knitting me thinks. All of my roof is on and it is fabulous. I moved the old table out and rearranged the new set. It is so much better. Have a nice day with Sue at the shop. makerealbany - 2013-09-07 10:20:00
It was a lovely morning. Rest of the day not so much, a it stressful with family stuff going on but it least we had takeways for tea so no cooking. I was exhausted. Errands to run this morning and definitely planning on spending time in the garden. I have finished another dolls set this week and working on baby bootees. grizzly4 - 2013-09-08 09:42:00
I knew if I bided my time I could get that backing material cheaper. Got the Spotlight 40 percent discount of one item in the mail. Great. Babysitting K and his little pup today. I will be having takeaways for tea. I'm exhausted. Spent 15 mins running around looking for Griff who is so tiny he got thru the wire fence. It was frantic. I could hear him whining. He just got stuck in the hedge. He is now in his pen. Six weeks old and full of mischief. makerealbany - 2013-09-08 13:47:00
I'll bet you were worried when you couldn't find him! I've got all my jobs done for today. Feeling quite proud of myself but a little depressed when I think of what still needs to be done, most of it admin stuff for the shop. My Dad sought a second opinion for his medical issues and Parkinsons has been confirmed. The doctor he has been seeing for years kept telling him it wasn't. Why is it so many people have problems with their doctor's? grizzly4 - 2013-09-08 16:49:00
really enjoyed working with Grizzly on Saturday, it was a lovely day. I was made redundent on the 29th August as my shop is pulling out of NZ so have been job hunting. Had a phone interview and a face to face with Toyworld, now i have to go to a third interview on Tuesday, fingers crossed. I think it would be a fun place to work, Guess i am a kid at heart. I have never had to have 3 interviews for one job before .................... suzy59nz - 2013-09-08 20:15:00
Fingers crossed for Tuesday, Sue! grizzly4 - 2013-09-09 07:43:00
