Well I'll just settle for wherever I end up! Popeye, when I do the granny squares edge in black I make them up into strips as I go, so when I do the black around the second square I join it to the first square, and when I do the black around the third square I join it to the second square etc. Means you end up with strips and then just have to join the strips together. I mean I do the complete round of black but instead of breaking the yarn, I just carry on and join the two squares together.

Was speaking to Olive from down the road before, the one just diagnosed with Cancer. Shes doing fine, feels very well. She will have a hysterectomy on 18th and they hope to get it all at once. So fingers crossed.
She apologised for shocking me, I told her she didn't have to... That I would be straight up if the same thing was happening to me. but that there is not really anyway to cushion the news.
She has told a neighbour between us too, so we can all support each other which is nice.

Did anyone see the TV3 news earlier this evening? They are running a series on WW1 as today was marking 100 years since the beginning of the war. Tonight was about Lady Liverpool and how she encouraged so many kiwi women to knit socks and scarves for the soldiers. Was a good watch. It should be on demand if anyone wants to watch it.

No I didn't see it kiwimade. I was watching the news on tv1, who had some coverage on it, and later apologised because the reporter was talking whilst the last post was playing.

Not getting much crochet done tonight as I have a little furry tortoiseshell thing curled up on my lap, she must be dreaming 'cos her little paws and twitching as though she's running, and her whiskers are twitching and her mouth is opening and closing as thought she's biting the air. She's like a little hot water bottle.

morning ladies :) I love it when our animals dream, our boy barks in his sleep and his little paws are 'running' in the air. Makes you wonder what he is dreaming of!

Our daughter and granddaughter are coming to stay for a 'week or so' so I'll have a quick tidy up and vacuum, wash the kitchen floor. I remember when our kids were crawling how grubby their clothes got lol.

Will get some knitting done later today I think.

Bob cries in his sleep, which is quite distressing, I often wake him. Missy was flinging her paws about last night too. I have let bob out this morning so fingers crossed we don't have a repeat of Saturday.

I didn't do any knitting or crochet last night. We had an early night and I read.
MrP still in bed. Hes is just letting life pass him by..

morning all. good frost but sun is shining and it's warming up, Been and done a grocery shop and will take the dog for a walk shortly. Had a few out of sorts days with earthquake/ insurance issues so not much knitting done. Will hopefully get back to daughter's socks today
Silly dog got one of his claws stuck in the blanket stitch edging on one of his blankets this morning. He has done this twice recently even though he has had the some blankies for years. I will sit down later and remove the edging so there is no further repeats.

Morning everyone.
Also one of my friends birthday today too.

Blustery today, had a lot of rain through the night.

Gave MrP a sleeping tablet, cos even tho he is in bed for many hours over night he hasn't been sleeping. So now he is hung over and drowsy. Told him to stay where he was lol.

Just have the few decreasing rows on the Santa body. And I did three squares last night. Will sew in the ends when Im done here.

Enjoy having your girls home Kiwimade... They sure do grow fast eh lol

morning ladies :) Son is coming home for a few days today so we are going to have a house full. My sister is coming for tea and daughter's friend has stayed the night, possibly staying for tea as well. So not a lot of knitting is getting done. I have to remember to put my sharp pointy things up out of reach! Ohhh and the coffee table cleared. Usually I wouldn't bother (never did for our kids) but there are one or two things on the coffee table that belonged to MrK's mum so not taking any chances.

Hopefully I can get some knitting done while our grandy is napping :)

Lol Kiwimade, yes the precious things are best put away. Mum never baby proofed but there are always things that need to be safe eh.

GMS your Great grand daughter also shares her birthday with B1anca too.

Off to Manukau today. To deliver the blankets to the womens refuge. I have to write a letter to put in with them so she has all the details.

Going to nip into spotlight to see if I can get some decent darning needles. I was Sharp with big eyes.

Then will take the opportunity to grab a couple of things at countdown that I need and are cheaper then new world.

And we will buy a pie at Drury. There is a bakery there that make their own and they are sooo good. Been hanging out for one. The potato top ones have heaps of potato on them.

Got the body piece, nose and two arms done yesterday. And 4 squares last night.

Yay got a decent darning needle. Got four balls of wool.. red and green for Christmas knits.

Then I felt like I had to stop at Takanini's Salvation Army store and I got 700grms of orange crepe 4ply pure wool for $10... A very good buy. Adding to my collection of crepe

Been nice to go out of town for a change. I didn't have my pie. MrP wanted maccas. so I had another thickshake.. Sooo good but brain freeze lol

Might sew my ends in on my squares when I get off here.

Will lay out some squats I got last week for our first Plunket blanket.

morning ladies from a very busy household! Just heard our wee grandy wake, she stirred three times during the night but settled quickly. Daughter is sick with no voice so this is going to be fun lol.

Oh I don't blame you kiwimade, cuddles first, knitting second - you can do the knitting when you can't have the cuddles. What a gorgeous pic. I wonder what she is saying to the furry one. It's obviously important as the furry one is all ears.

Haven't been on here for a few days as there was nothing of interest to report, but I'm on the last lap of my crocheted blanket. I "will" finish it today, but I might not get all the ends darned in. The second bag I'm making is coming along nicely. I'm pleased that the extra care I've put into it is showing, so it should end up a much better bag than the first one.

Cold here this morning so the woodfire is going, we've already had a shower, but at least the sun is shining now.

Better go and get his nibbs some breakfast.

Morning everyone... yes its almost gone lol.
Had a friend around to do a wee bit of laminating and we talked lol.

Have put a chunky ham meal into the crockpot. similar to what Jamie Oliver did last week. but just with veges MrP likes. And we were lucky enough to get 2 ham bones yesterday. decadent making a soup type meal out of champagne ham eh lol

Only did a couple of squares last night. Need to sew the ends in. Then back to knitting. Although I have a hankering to do a plunket blanket.

Where is everyone this morning - must be having a lie in seeing as it's the weekend.

Not so cold here this morning, but we've just had some huge drops of rain.

I finished crocheting my blanket last night, just got to darn all the ends in which is a pain - I should have done them as I did it. I should know better than to leave them all till it's finished.

Did a few rows last night on my 10 stitch zig zag blanket which is supposed to be for our king sized bed, but I think it will end up much narrower - I can't alter the length, so it might end up for a single bed. I think I will go nuts before it's big enough for our bed (plus I've decided I don't really like the colour - I'm half tempted to undo what I've done and just sell the wool on). What would you do?

I will have to look around for something else to do. I suppose I could sew up the tunic I made for me two years ago which I've also decided I don't like - I should have done a blanket with that wool. What is it with blankets? I just love making them but there is a limit to how many you need, especially when you have duvets on the beds.

morning ladies :) Just rescued my daughter's crochet from the Furry One... he's in fine fettle this morning. All the 'extra' people in the house has him pretty excited in the mornings.

I love making blankets too kuaka, there must be something therapeutic about it. No knitting for me yesterday, it's just too tricky with a little one around at the moment. I'm trying to remember how I knitted when the kids were small lol, think I waited until they had their naps.

In theory I am catching up with housework but also have to check out what's on here lol.

It's cold with a weak sun here, have to go out at some stage but not rushing it.
I'm into using up my spare wool at the moment so have several little things in the go depending how much of any type/colour I have to use. Started a small blanket but didn't like it when part way through so have restarted it in crochet which is much quicker, also have a 10 stitch, a couple of beanies and a milo on the go. I just don't like having a lot of bits and pieces of wool lying around.

Once I have got the pile down a bit - it never goes away completely I will start some socks for a friend's mother.

Afternoon everyone.. Couldn't get online this morning... Its a lovely sunny day but a cold wind.

Went up to the bowling club this morning.. Got MrP a magnetic underlay and pillow cover for $10.. I couldn't believe it. I hope it works for him. And at least we didn't pay Hundreds.
Got me a cool red and white with white polka dot teacup.teapot and saucer set. Just cos it was in my colours and its soo cute.

Raej2 its from his Save with Jamie series. And its Ham hock with peas pudding . Its basically just a very meaty filing soup. I made it in the crockpot instead of a cast iron casserole in the oven. We are lucky to get the ham bones left from the deli when they do the Champaign ham for $4-99. Normally MrP has it with salad for lunch. And he slices the meat off. But I just pulled the meat apart once cooked and its amazing how much there was on it.
Hes just had a bowl full for lunch.

Its funny about all the blankets we are doing. I really enjoy making them. Kuaka, to me it would make more sense to undo the blanket and sell the wool. If you finished it you would never get enough for the amount of work you do.

Or you could give it away. But then your not getting money back to buy wool for a blanket for yourselves. We use blankets and candlewick bedspreads instead of duvets.

I haven't even used the blue/yellow one I knitted last year oops. And here I am using all my wee bits to make a granny square blanket. MrP asked was it for us. I said yes... He was ok with it. but if I attempted to make another I can already hear him ask if we need it lol.

I did five more squares last night. Have to sew the ends in. Then back to Santas Beard.

I might try selling some of the yarn (sorry it's acrylic not wool!) and see if I get any takers. I would never knit anything that big with the intention of selling it - nobody would want to pay for the yarn let alone the knitting. I might try listing some and see what happens, and if I can get rid of most of it, I'll buy something else to make a blanket with - something with some wool in it. I like the colours but I really wanted the colours to be more gradual in the changes rather than mottled. Meantime I'm trying to do something in crocodile stitch and can't seem to get the hang of it.

MrP is still asleep. I gave him a sleeping pill. And I think he has only been up once. So that's a good sleep for him. He has the magnetic thing on the pillow, will put the underlay on when we change his bed this morning .

Can I ask how long the back to top button has been on the bottom of the page in the dark grey area? lol Ive always thought they needed it, but only saw it today lol

I got a nightie, near new from oppy a couple of weeks ago. Washed it. And put it on last night. It stinks, like something industrial. Made my eyes water from the fumes. God knows what they have used on it.. Im going to soak it and try once more otherwise it can go in the bin.

Full house here still, son goes home tomorrow though. We have the Fluffy One again for a few days. A month to go and my dad will be home from Aussie and my sister will have finished this part of her course and won't have to be out so late during the week. So one more month with the Fluffy One living part time with us.

Heaven knows what I'll get done today, but will try knitting again.

You sure are busy at the mo Kiwimade. Hows that wee girl of yours? Bet shes loving all the attention from everyone.
Saw what you did re the shirt Carole. Being a peasant top it should be easy enough to cut down tho.. But annoying that you have to redo all the work.
My wrist was aching soo bad yesterday I decided to crochet a tightish band to go around it. Which I did and put a chain strap to go over the thumb. Worked so well I made another. They don't go any higher than the base of my thumb which means I don't get the knitting needles stuck in them like my mittens. And firm enough to strengthen my wrist and warm them. So Im pleased. Just used acrylic but I might use wool for some too to make them even more warmer

My back is one step away from having to go to the drs. So Ill be nursing that today. I slept way to long in one position and could barely move.
MrP slept very well on the biomag, so maybe it is helping him.

morning everyone - right miserable morning here it is, absolutely chucking it down. I checked as soon as I got up to see if the Herald was in the driveway and it wasn't but by the time the jug had boiled the Herald was there, so I donned my wet weather gear and retrieved it. It was wrapped in plastic, but only tied in the middle so one end was soggy. Can't understand why the bloke can't see how ineffective it is to just tie it in the middle. So the heat pump is on to warm the room up and the fan heater is on to dry the flipping newspaper.

Here's a pic of my blanket which I finished a few days ago, and have now finally darned all the ends in:

It is lovely and warm as the navy is mohair (but not terribly fluffy) and the camel is merino. I'm quite pleased with it. I've just rescued it from puss as I'd left it on the floor while I uploaded the photo and she thought it was just the thing to dig her claws into. Errr, nooo.

The bag on the bottom right of the pic is the one I'm currently working on, it's another "no-sag" bag, but I have to unpick the last few inches of binding as I haven't got it in the right place. Grrrr.

If this weather keeps up all day I don't see us getting out for our walk so Mr K will be miserable as it's my afternoon out, and he hates staying at home on his own when the weather is like this (well he's not keen on being on his own at the best of times, but he's worse when the weather is depressing).

I did make him laugh on Saturday though. We were talking about what we would do if we won lotto and he said we'd need a bigger house with more storage. Whatever for I asked. He said "for all your craft stuff". I said I was seriously thinking about giving up my crafts and concentrating instead on some serious housework! He laughed so much I thought he would choke.

And on that note I shall ignore the housework that needs doing all around me and sit for a while and do some of my crocodile stitch project which I have now got the hang of.

morning ladies :) gorgeous blanket kuaka, I can see why puss would love it too lol. Son goes home today so one less 'body' in the house. And today I pick up my dragon cross stitch all framed. Am sooo excited and daughter is as well. Great she is home to see it now and take it back with her when they leave (whenever that will be lol). Must admit we are enjoying having a baby in the house again.

The Furry One was amazing the other day... our grandy crawled towards the heater (was off and has a fire guard around it). I was about to grab her and say nooooo when he raced over and wedged himself between her and the heater. He gave a wee growl and she crawled off.

Still no knitting, omg that is almost six weeks since I have picked up my needles. Oh well, it will be there when I have the time.

I'll post a pic of my/daughter's dragon when I get home from the framers.

My little wrist warmers are definatly helping my wrist. And MrP says he is sleeping better with the biomag so that's great news.

Lovely work Kuaka, lots of wool in that blanket. It was worth it kiwimade to wait for the right frame, it really sets it off. Made what I thought was a good score at spotlight today, was after some 18 count adia and couldn't find a precut piece the right size, was looking though the rolls at $57 a metre and found one roll for $20 a metre. when I took it up to checkout she said it was the last roll and they were clearing it out so got 1.5 metres for $30. Resisted buying wool from there and knitworld but did pick a new crochet hook

thank you ladies, I sure am chuffed with it. Kuaka, I don't think I could even price it, nine months of stitching. It took four hours to stitch just one celtic knot on the border.

That was a great buy for the Aida cloth raej2, embroidery/cross stitch fabric is expensive!
