Just had some more wool donated to the shop so I've listed on TM, if anyone is interested. Still quite a bit of fabric left too.

Had a good trip and my grand daughter came over tonight after she finished work at 7 and brought Mum and I tea. I was absolutely stoked. Glad my Wellington son is on holiday in Figi. Although my neighbours and their 3 children are on holiday in Wellington. T said the kids eyes were like saucers during the Quake. Poor darlings.

Is that steamboat material a cotton grizzly?

makerealbany - 2013-07-21 21:58:00
5504

Yes it is, makerealbany. We keep doing the phone around to check on family in both Blenheim and Wellington. WE were out in the car when the 6.5 hit but there wasn't anything about it on the radio so didn't know till Dad rang to say they were ok just before the News at 6. Thank goodness he did. I would have panicked big time! I feel sick about how people must be feeling last night waiting for the next one. I see there were some biggies off the coast and a bit north of Christchurch just after the one in the strait.

5505

Darn scary for people grizzly. Poor Mum was worried about the family. Everyone must be sick of all the worry. Feel for you all.

Trouble is I feel so much for the people in Seddon! Such a wee town and so much fuss looking out for Wellington.

grizzly4 - 2013-07-22 15:38:00
5507

I hate the idea of Mum and Dad going through those long nights of after shocks!

grizzly4 - 2013-07-23 07:15:00
5508

I am exhausted. Mum is having a ball though ha ha. I have made so many cups of tea I feel like a teapot.

makerealbany - 2013-07-23 22:43:00
5509

LOL. I have day off today. I. has his appointment with surgeon. We are both a bit stressed.

grizzly4 - 2013-07-24 11:13:00
5510

hope things seem brighter for you soon grizzly. I have knitted the fronts of a long card for Miss M. It is in marble chunky wool I got from Deramores. very pretty and soft. fast to knit too lol. Mum and I are having lunch with my daughter. Weather not so good. Just brought K home so no more babysitting until Sunday night. Taking Mum home Sunday. She is sick of me already ha ha.

I. has to have an MRI before surgery date can be set. Also took our ginger cat to vet. She hasn't been great since the weekend. Cost over $300 for visit and blood tests. Now we wait. Probably either her thyroid or kidneys or both. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2013-07-24 19:41:00
5512

Omg grizzly one thing after another. Vets can be so expensive. MRIs as well. Hope things pick up soon for you. At lest the MRI will pinpoint the problem for I hopefully. Mum is very tired today. Napping most of the day. I have been flat out so going to rest awhile and knit. Big hugs girl.

makerealbany - 2013-07-25 14:29:00
5513

Thanks for the hugs! ACC will cover I's costs thank goodness. And would you believe Jinx's results were all clear!!!! She is now eating again and toileting is almost right again. Increased her fluids by keeping her meals the casserole varieties and she is back to following us around. I can't believe it, she was so ill the night before. Thank goodness.

grizzly4 - 2013-07-26 07:22:00
5514

Have you read some of the messages on the thread you started about deramores? LOL. I love their craft budgets!

grizzly4 - 2013-07-26 16:41:00
5515

So pleased Jinx is okay. Poor little Puss is missing her family. I feed her and put her inside for the night but the house is so quiet. She will go crazy when they come home. Lol yes I think everyone needs a craft budget ha ha. Mum had raided my stash and now she wants to go home tomorrow so I am on the. Road again early.

makerealbany - 2013-07-26 22:50:00
5516

Jinx climbed into bed with us this morning for the first time in a week. Fingers crossed she's on the mend, whatever it was. I'm planning on a lazy day today and sew up a jacket order. It is a sublime pattern and I'm pleased I never spent all that money on them. I had to re-figure out the fronts because of a mistake in the pattern and the hat is quite complicated.

Just home from my long drive. It took me 4 hours to get there with all the stops lol and 3 to come straight home. Absolutely over driving. Now for the big clean up again ho ho.

makerealbany - 2013-07-27 17:45:00
5519

Sounds never-ending. I have finished that order and realised that I have only done 6 button holes instead of 8 on the double breasted jacket. Hopefully it will be ok as it is 0-6 month size but looks smaller than that. 0-4 I'd say. Now I'm pondering over which aran to do next, I've left my run on these a bit late in the season, I suppose.

Kids all back today. Did some knitting last night but could not find enough buttons for little card. All the wrong size and colour darn. Tried to put an order in to Deramores and the Internet went down. Could not retrieve the order. Lost in somewhere. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow ho ho. For a small jacket like that grizzly 6 should be plenty I would say.

I hope the customer thinks so. I am kicking myself over it. Back to normal hours with the start of the school term. I started a new aran and finished the back in an evening. Very effective pattern.

grizzly4 - 2013-07-29 07:39:00
5522

Thank goodness, customer was fine and loved the final product. The jersey I am working on now is a V-neck aran and I am up to the 2nd side of the neck. Going well. Can you believe the cheek of 2 customers that came in last week carrying takeaway coffee. After they left shop staff found that they had spilled their coffee over the new carpet and of course it had splashed on some stock which had to be removed from shop. Grrrrrrrrr. From now on I won't hesitate to ask them to put their coffee on he counter while they browse not that customers have ever brought food or drink in while I have worked in over 20 years. I feel very sorry for the craftspeople who lost stock.

What a nerve. Some people are so inconsiderate. Flat out with little K as daughter is working long hours. Little E has had high temps and has been to hospital so her mummy needs some support as well. A is home for a week thank god so M and J are ok. Have not looked at my crafts for two days lol. Never mind tomorrow and Thursday are busy and so is Saturday but Sunday is not far off.

I know how you feel! Late night last night for AGM, early start for Women's Group today. Phew! Just time for a couple of nightmares to ruin a few hours sleep.

I.'s MRI shows no damage to his knee! They don't know what's causing the severe inflammation so just putting him anti-inflammatories. Anyone's guess whether ACC will look after us now so back to square one.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-01 08:33:00
5526

Oh rats grizzly what a pain!!' ACC will be rubbing their hands with glee while I ,s knee gives him hell. I do hope the anti flammatories work for him. My Sil has lost his NZ job as his company had the plug pulled on the mine. Don't know what he will do now. I had a chance of an hours knitting today then I was off to do the pick up for the beach. Just cooking tea and then baths, bed etc and home about 9.30. Thank heavens Friday is my day off yippee.

5527

Have a great day off today! Wish it was me. LOL. I finished the wee aran jersey last night. Very cute. Started a pair of baby sox. Have you checked out the thread on cupcake tea cosys? Some of the links are amazing. I printed a few off for a friend to make for the shop. Absolutely love the Daffodil one! You've got to have a look.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-02 08:32:00
5528

Yes I did have a look. Some look good enough to eat lol. Got a piece of material with cupcakes on for miss 5. M is not sure what she wants me to make out of it yet. Little E loves the Magic knit cardi. That wool from Deramores is lovely to knit. Comes up so pretty. Up to the sleeves of M's chunky cardi so should finish that this weekend. I won 350 at Housie yesterday so a big bonus. Mum bought a Lotto ticket whilst she was up here and gave my sisters and I a "shout" as she calls it, so that was another 200 so I am rolling in cash this week ha ha. Saving it for a holiday.

makerealbany - 2013-08-03 06:46:00
5529

Yeah right or more wool or fabric! LOL. Working with Suzy59nz in the shop this morning. We haven't caught up for ages.

5530

Off out to breakfast this morning for our daughter's birthday. She will be 31 this week, imagine that! Planning on doing some baking this afternoon and start another aran pattern. I went to a bakery by work during the week and bought a peanut slice which was a real blast from the past. My MIL made it all the time and I haven't had it since but I know she gave me the recipe.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-04 09:18:00
5531

I am so fed up with wireless Internet I rang up today and am getting my own broadband. I have my own line so it won't be hard. I will then be able to get on at any time whoop whoop. I have another virus and so has J . The kids always give me their bugs. Nothing like sharing lol. Have not finished the sleeves yet as I have been sorting things out for people, the op shop and the yearly inorganic collection. This will be the first year in 8 years that I do not have to haul out the stuff. Yah Sil won't know what hit him ha.

makerealbany - 2013-08-05 16:12:00
5532

LOL. Sorry to hear you are not well again, makerealbany. The changeable weather makes it difficult, too. If I take off a layer of clothes guaranteed that's when the sun disappears and I start coughing. Sigh.
I've done the back and half the front of an aran jersey. It is a very smooth look as the cables only use 2 stitches.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-06 07:49:00
5533

Sil is really sick and the kids all have coughs. Lovely birthday today. I got new slippers, flowers and pamper kits. So spoilt its a shame I am too sick to go out for dinner but my daughter cooked me tea. Even my lovely neighbours got me a gift. Sooooooo nice.

makerealbany - 2013-08-06 18:41:00
5534

What a shame being unwell on your birthday! I'm glad they spoilt you though.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-07 09:33:00
5535

A has taken her whole family to the GP. S is sick and grumpy. Men!!!!!!! Women just have to carry on when they are sick. Who else will do all the chores and take care of the family? My headache is getting worse and no wonder. Mind you K is a bundle of joy so that keeps me going.

makerealbany - 2013-08-07 11:32:00
5536

I.'s second knee is got us beat! X-rays and MRI show no major injury. No surgery required but knee is still swollen after 2 months off work and locks up badly during the night.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-08 08:02:00
5537

Omg poor thing. Sometimes it drives you crazy not knowing what's wrong. Something most certainly is wrong though. I hope it eases up.

makerealbany - 2013-08-08 16:41:00
5538

How are you all feeling? Thank goodness it's the end of the week, I am knackered. LOL. Did some craft shopping yesterday for the Women's group and of course didn't walk out empty handed personally either.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-09 08:38:00
5539

Finished the jersey. I'm not interested in knitting it again so will be listing the pattern on TM, I think. LOL. Family keeps changing their plans for today so not sure what I will get to do yet. Cooking tea will be a dead cert.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-10 09:37:00
5540

Cooking tea (pizza) turned out to be a bit of a drama as I. had not put in the bottom element properly after cleaning the oven. Yes, I know, he is great for cleaning it in the first place. I wasn't in the right place last night to want to know that though. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-11 10:45:00
5541

Lol on the oven grizzly. Had the same drama at my girls. Starting to feel better after 3 lousy days in bed.

makerealbany - 2013-08-11 16:44:00
5542

I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. Crocheted a blanket over the weekend and changed our lounge around. I've got to get used to it now.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-12 07:53:00
5543

I finished the long cardi for M. The sleeves are very narrow though. May have to undo grrrr. I will see what her Mum says. She did have 3 tops on underneath lol. Even so not impressed with the pattern. Everywhere else is loose.

makerealbany - 2013-08-12 11:57:00
5544

I hope you don't have to redo the sleeves! What a pain. I'm working on upsizing a prem pattern for an order and doing matching bootees and then I have another set to do as well.

grizzly4 - 2013-08-13 08:27:00
5545

I spent last night crocheting flowers. Not sure what I am going to do with them but just felt like being creative lol. Little J is sick again!!!!!!!! So his parents have whipped him off to the GP. His temps were up to 38 .5 today. Managed to reduce it after a tepid bath but rising again. Playcentre rang to say Slapped Cheek was making the rounds again. Omg it makes you want to keep him home and isolated again.

makerealbany - 2013-08-13 16:43:00
5546

J is no better. A is home for the day so I am running ha ha. I dropped a bag of wool off for the school. They are making pois for the Kapa Haka group. Then I went to Spotlight to get some buttons for the jacket but no luck. If I cannot get any from an op shop may have to use self covering and crochet them. Hope not. Got some more quilting material for panels in M's quilt . It is now on special 5 dollars a metre so I bought the last 5 metres. It is an off white so will blend into another quilt. I went to one op shop and dropped bags off from my daughter's clean out effort but no buttons there. I have 3 more to try in Orewa. The shops are close here which is great.

makerealbany - 2013-08-14 12:24:00
5547

Just got my own broadband connected. Hurrah no more running into the house to see why my wifi is not connected. I connected it with phone instructions from my son. I am so pleased. I love being independent. Funny may seem a small thing but as I get older I seem to get more annoyed when I am not in total control of my own life. Lol

makerealbany - 2013-08-14 20:09:00
5548

I know just how you feel. The morning after we changed our lounge around I couldn't get the tv to turn on. No matter what we checked , wouldn't work. Ended up taking it in to have the power board or something in the back fixed. Luckily daughter had a spare we could borrow. Can't miss House Rules this week!

grizzly4 - 2013-08-15 08:58:00
5549

Just finished basting M's quilt. It as taken ages just to cut out, pin and baste. Now how long to sew the first steps mmmmmmm. I am leaving it for today. I have just finished the ironing and have to think of my next knitting project. Not sure what.

makerealbany - 2013-08-15 15:52:00
5550

I'm not getting a choice with my projects this week. I have a few orders from TM to get done. Good timing though as we finally found some foot boards for our motor bike for me. I get really sore feet and legs with the foot pegs we have at the moment. The ones we have bought are here in NZ luckily , up till now we thought we would have to order from the U.S. I will register it next week after it's winter break and then we can look forward to some sunny weekend rides. (Hopefully).
