Thanks, the first is supposed to be for Mr not yet born, but i think it's the girlier of the two... what do you think should be the "girl" one and which the "Boy" one??

liz_taylor - 2010-02-16 18:41:00
5457

The first one has an innocent look. The one with the frog, the second one has a cheeky look. i would give MR the cheeky one with the frog :)

im just going to start quilting my next quilt, not doing it so small this time tho ;)

coalrange1 - 2010-02-17 20:04:00
5468

Do you guys sometimes feel that its time to throw in the towel, throw the project in the corner or better still start a bonfire. All set the get the sandwich done this morning. Got there early so I could bag big table, taped the backing to the table, spread out the batting which I had so frugally zig zagged together only to find that when batting was spread out on the flat one of the seams is all puckered. Couldn't see it until I spread it on the flat surface so couldn't do another thing. In a fit of temper whipped everything off the table, stuck it back in the plastic bag and almost cried. Was so mad. Well hang it, it can stay in the plastic bag until I have got over my paddy. That will teach me to be penny pinching. Aaarrgggghhhh!!!!
Well I do feel better now that I have vented. Got a new book from the library so off to bed with a nice cuppa and a good book, husband watching SVU.
Nite all, sweet dream. I will feel better tomorrow.

Awww Fran arghhhhhh thats such a shame after all this time waiting to get it sandwiched oooh i feel your pain :(
So what was the penny pinching ? so we dont do that. Hope the book is really good.

Sweetdreamzzzzzzzzz all

coalrange1 - 2010-02-17 22:08:00
5471

Hi Coalie, thanks for your kind thoughts. The penny pinching was that I had saved all the bits of batting that is cut of the sides of the quilt when the quilting is done and I sewed them all together. I have done it before and works really well - usually - plus, when it is quilted that also makes the joined seams in the batting quite secure, just that this time for whatever reason one of the seams badly puckered. It is one of the seams in the middle so will unpick and side it middle so those bits are back on the outside and will be trimmed off. See I feel more positive already.

franny8 - 2010-02-17 22:15:00
5472

Which quilt are you about to quilt Coalie, have we seen this one and if not why not???? Pic please.

5473

Where is everyone this morning, hope you are all sewing madly. Was up early took the dog out before it got too hot. Very overcast here but soooooo humid, feel like I need another shower. I am going to fix the batting, its like a yoke round my neck so I need to fix it.

i wish i was sewing, it's the weather for it, i'd be happy doing the bassinet sheets. but i forgot to ask hubby to put my machine on the table before he left, and it really is too heavy for me to lift at the moment (stupid being pregnant, stupid old heavy machine) so looks like i'll be doing some more stitching. Might get 2 sets of sheets ready and cut out, seeing as my table is sooo nice and clear

5475

Goodmorning all, tis good you are both getting things done, i havent done any sewing today yet ;)

Great, I just guessed what to do with the Stack and Slash (although I know there is a certain order so that each block gets its fair share of colours) and I'm off to get some pyjama material for the back as this one is going to be a baby's quilt. I am going to base this on the "Crazy Short Cut Quilts" that I watched on You Tube where you quilt with fancy stitching on all the seams (slashes) through all layers of each block BEFORE you join them together again with fancy stitching. Here's the link.

http://www.crazyshortcutquilts.com/

I'll be all set for a go over the weekend and will post a pic once I start.

Gosh Coalrange, you are so productive. That is really nice. Great colours will go and can be used for anything. What silly sewn edges? Did you post a pic before and I missed it?

5484

ooooh thats awesome!! that would work really well for potholders!!! Well Good news, i've gotten the tension on my machine to state i can live with (was realllllllly bad), it's not perfect, but then i dont think it ever will be. off to pick up miss 3, and hopefully will get a few patches sewn this afternoon as my normal thurs afternooon coffee has been cancelled. Oh and i have my next Gestational Diabetes test tomorrow morning... fun fun NOT

Judy when bathurst was on we all picked either holden or ford, we were mostly holden and of course they won. Twi was making stuff for a craft stall, she was sewing so fast we thought she must have a holden motor on her machine cause none of us could sew that fast - hehe :)

Here's the first Stack & Slash I did a few years ago

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/66/117129866_full.jp
g

They are easy and so effective. I hand quilted it as I do not find it easy having a whole quilt stuffed into the righthand side of the foot and then control the quilt and the machine. Also, I am someone who needs to see and do, rather than go by theory, so maybe one day I'll get someone to patiently help me learn to machine quilt.

Anyway the Stack and Slash I'm now doing, as I mentioned before is quilted as individual blocks, so that going to be easier, I hope.
