I have done one round of the border. The two greys are far to close in colour so I think Ill put a round of red in. Then another of the grey. Took 1.25 hours to get around it lol

Some of my Deramores order came. I never remember what Ive ordered lol.. Although this time I know there is a pretty yellow spotty one and some white coming. But the blue twinkle and blue variegated arrived this morning and Id forgotten id ordered them. Cant wait for MrP to see the spotty one, he will like it.

Afternoon ladies. No, I haven't run away - although I felt like it yesterday. Mr K was a real grump yesterday, he wasn't feeling well and I mentally tossed up whether to forego my usual afternoon out, and then thought "stuff it", if I stay home this afternoon, he will be feeling unwell again next Tuesday so that I stay home with him. When I got home he complained that he had been on his own "all day" which was only from 1.15 to 4.45, and then he had the cheek a while later to say he'd been asleep in the chair half the afternoon.

We decided to go and check on the boat today and discovered some nice kind person has stolen our dinghy off the beach - all that was left was the chain and the padlock, so now we have no way of getting out to the boat. Really cheesed off about that.

Went to knit and natter this morning, but didn't actually do much crocheting, I was helping another lady to make a granny square. She's trying to teach herself how to crochet.

Well time to get some tea organised. Snapper & chips. We were given some fresh snapper. Happy knitting everyone.

Oh Kuaka that sucks re the dingy.. so now I guess you either have to borrow or perhaps buy a blow up one. I hope they haven't been on the boat too.

morning :) Ohh dammmm about the dinghy kuaka, there are certainly some light fingered people out there.

My MrK is enjoying his retirement in spite of a few health issues. He is kept busy with his woodwork and garden although I have taken over the garden a lot more. Hopefully all the grumpiness from the menfolk will disappear as the days get warmer.

At the rate I am going, this scarf won't be finished until the end of next winter lol. Oh well, every stitch knitted is one less! Dunno what it is with me and long term projects!

kuaka So glad you went to knit and natter. I go to a natter and knit on
Firidays. We all need time out from our men folk,so take it when you can.
. Work parttime as a Teacher Aide. Hours get chopped then given the hours back. A pain at times.
My friend and I got togther last Saturday and she worked on edge of her blanket and I did some needle felting on a scarf.
It sucks about the dingy. Have you got someone who can help you out and take you out to your boat?.

Morning everyone.
My grumpy one is ok today... soo far lol.. Usually a little testy when he has walked around the supermarket and carried the bags in.
I still have one round to do on the project blanket. Cos I cant do it in bed, would end up covered in white cat fur.

So I started some granny squares. 4 inch ones made out of all the little nuggets of end of balls. Im surrounding them in black, which I normally wont use. And it was a straight out guess that id done enough stitches lol. Its my next long term project for me I cant let my head go tho, so if there's enough wool I do two squares using the same colours but I reverse them... I wish I could just put my hand in the bag and grab one and use it.. I might force myself later... see if I can do it lol

My boycat is a bit off colour at the mo. Apparently he was sick last night, I didn't know and Shock Horror MrP cleaned up after him. I didn't hear a thing even tho it was just out my bedroom door.

Well better get myself sorted, gotta do my INR again today.

beautiful day here. 19 degrees. guess we will pay for it on the next few days though. My socks for daugther got put on hold temprarily about a third way thru as my gf's mum who is terminally ill wanted a pair of hand warmers like i knitted for my gf. Just finishsed those and the last of my last Deramore's order arrived. I had ordered some of th Sirdar Astrakhan super chunky. Never knitted with it before so couldn't resist making a start.
Deramores extended their sale till midnight so coudlnt resist placing another small order. Was tempted to order some more of this chunky yarn too but managed to retrain myself just but after starting on it wish i had now.
grr at people who steal other folks possessions.

I got my second delivery today too. Some yesterday some today. And the spotty yarn I got is different to the one I have already. But ever so pretty.

Have finished my project blanket. Havent taken a pic yet. And will only be putting on here not fb. For obvious reasons lol
Have just done another square for the granny square blanket I started last night. Its not going to be a quick job, but an on going one for nights when I sit in bed to watch tv.

19.9 in our lounge and a tropical 20.2 outside, full sun tho lol. Winter has been pathetic this year .

oh popeye, winter has been so much better than usual - so much more mild - I hate winter and hate the cold.

We went to Kerikeri today to buy seat covers for the new car, but before we went, I took one out of the old wagon and tried it on the new car, almost a perfect fit, so we went with the thought that if we couldn't find anything suitable, we could use the old ones which are still in good condition. Well of course, we couldn't find what we wanted, so we've decided to just use the ones out of the wagon which we intend to clean up and sell.

Did a flying visit to the farmer's market on the way home, and then had a quick sandwich and went off to meet a couple of friends to inspect a new venue for our usual Tuesday afternoons games sessions. Think we might have hit the jackpot with what we've looked at. We can use the place for $20 for the whole afternoon, whereas at the moment we are paying $5 a head (sometimes there are 18 or 20 of us) so if we decide to change to this new venue, we will be able to save a few dollars a week (and every $ saved is a $ more we can spend on yarn!)

A lovely day here at the moment, not cold and sun shinning into dining room while i enjoy my coffee.
Now to pack the car and head to Wellington and the forecast there is not so good.

Looks like a busy weekend with niece's girl turning 5, another niece having her 30th party and baby sitting 2 one year olds on Sunday, All good family fun.
Have packed some knitting so may get a bit done in between times.

My man still in bed, hes not sleeping well at the mo and with the temp changing soo much its playing up with his angina.

A quiet day for me, I might lay out a baby blanket. Through the night in my awake hours I have plans for some blankets with small squares so cant wait till I get some small ones. Will mix them with big ones. of which I have plenty.
Am enjoying doing little squares for my own granny square blanket (How many blankets does one need ? ). Im nearly doing random colours lol. Lots of sewing in tho. Im not doing the magic knot cos I figure a blanket will get a lot of use and I was to be sure it stays together.

Morning all. A bit cold here on the Kapiti Coast and its been raining. Had some wool arrive yesterday. A lot darker than I'd anticipated so its looks as though it will be a jumper for me and not my daughter. Haven't knitted anything for me since 1996 other than a scarf or three

I have a question though, I am going to knit my 6foot tall grandson a jumper in chunky wool (from Deramores) and by accident I have 5.5 and 6.5 needles instead of 5 and 6. Will this make much difference to the end result? I am really keen to start, but I won't tell him because I also have a problem with long term projects. He certainly won't be getting it this winter.

Depending on how loose/ tight you knit. It will make stitches a bit looser and therefore a wee bit bigger but for some people to get the correct tension you need to go up a size anyway. He sounds a big lad so I wouldn't be too fussed

Yeah I agree with Vivz2. And welcome to the thread.

Don't need to feel inadequate, we all have certain things we cant do.

Pleased to hear you have picked up the needles again.

Wise decision not telling your grandson about the jumper, incase it does take a while. One of my nephews is 6'5" I wouldn't like to knit a jumper for that length lol.

Ive started piecing together another charity blanket. Then will be onto baby ones.

The wee one has decided its fun to run away with my wool. Shes going through a 2 year old patch and being a right monkey. She didn't even touch yarn when we first got her lol Missy is a kitten Rosynana.

I am so ready to start knitting, but not quite "comfortable" yet. First I have the wrong size needles, and now I find that although they look steel, they are in fact bendy plastic which I hate. So I will make a trip to Spotlight which is 35 minute drive just to get some needles. Oh well, once I get that right I can start. Your kitten sounds adorable popeye333. I have my darling Daisy who is a fluffy cat about six years old, sometimes she thinks she is a kitten and goes dashing madly round the house, chases her tail, scratches the curtains etc but mostly she is a sedate lady.

rosynana, I have a 'Daisy' as well except shes a beagle. She was one of the rescue dogs featured on TV3 from the Manawatu. My 9 month old burmese hasn't been too bad with wool thus far but I had to stop him putting his paw under the sewing machine foot yesterday when quilting.

morning ladies and welcome rosynana :). I also had put down my needles but once our granddaughter was 'on the way' picked them up again after a break of around 20 years. Doesn't take long to get back into the swing of it all.

Wet and miserable here today, perfect for knitting :). have a few jobs to do in town then I can catch up on my knitting fix.

The Furry One is outside with the sheep, silly thing is bleating and calling him so he races outside to keep it company and they snuggle up to each other through the fence.

Hope everyone is well, feels like summer is on it's way in spite of the rain.

Wow Rosynana is there any opp shops closer you could find knitting needles at? I hate bendy needles and much prefer metal ones.

Viv our Bob cat watches me when I sew. I got a new table when I reclaimed y sewing room after mum died. And he sat on it from the first day. I don't sew a lot but when I do hes right there, all 8 kilos of him watching me sew.

I absolutely pushed myself yesterday. I crochet together a 7 by 5 square blanket. There was a chance that I would have been delivering them today so I thought Id see if I could get another one done. Why I didn't make it 6 by 6 I don't know. But it will still be handy. So I have four to deliver.. Which will be this week.

Going to start a Santa and Mrs Claus set today. And carry on with my granny square blanket. I try not to match colour but have got it as much as using the same colours on two square but changing the order. That's about as random as I can manage so far. The black edging is tricky as I cant see it, so I go by feel lol and what looks right.

I don't think it will make a huge difference and will knit up faster.
That is quite a project.
My husband is over 6 ft tall but big with it so it is about 40 years since I have knitted him anything but hat and mits. However he might just be getting the blanket he thinks I am knitting for my brother.
Husband is chairbound these days.

We have had a huge day of drama. bobcat went missing. So has been a highly emotional day.
Ive never been soo pleased to see him when he came in. He even allowed me to have a cuddle. Then went straight to the food. Cos he hadn't even had breakie this morning.

Have managed to knit a boot and leg of Santa. Pretty much no think other than a couple of decreasing rows.

That's wonderful news that bobcat is back popeye. I saw on fb that he was missing and my heart sunk.

My Mr K is down in the dumps today, all doom and gloom, and I'm finding it quite difficult to stay cheerful at times - at times I could wring his neck - I mean, he may have a broken neck but he is still alive and kicking, it could be worse!

I'm making progress with my second "no-sag" bag and it is turning out better than the first one. I plan to keep this one (and the first one) for me, and then maybe, just maybe, I will make one to sell. Who knows.

The crochet blanket is nearing completion. It is so lovely and warm. Once that's done I'll have to go back to the 10 stitch zigzag one and find some other projects to keep me out of mischief. I hope to have the crochet one finished in a few days and will post a pic.

Very warm, humid and looks like it will rain soon, so that puts paid to my plans to do some tidying in the garden or clearing out all the junk (ropes and buoys etc) of the old Safari and giving her a vacuum so that we can think about selling the old girl. Oh well, there's another day tomorrow.

Looks like it is going to be a perfect day for crafting.

Lovely wee cardy carole, gorgeous colourway. I would love to know the brand you don't like as well.

I was rummaging through my embroidery stash and found another project, hardanger, this time. Was all organised ready to stitch and then I remembered I had wanted to stitch it years ago but got waylaid with other things. So now I have two projects on the go, my scarf and this dressing table runner. Both biggish projects that should fill in these wet days.

Looks like the starter motor on the car has died so we need to get the auto electrician out tomorrow.

Ive got to pop up the road to supermarket and go to one of the cheapy shops for a torch. two have died this week. Still have one for MrP.
I never used to use them and would go to the toilet in the dark. But with madam Missy she is very clever in shooting in behind the toilet and shredding the toilet rolls. So need a little light to keep an eye on her. I don't like turning lights on, blasting light in my sleepy eyes lol

Bobcat is his normal self this morning. he was certainly tired last night. He's not happy with it raining and having to stay inside tho.

Oh I took a photo on my phone last night of them finally sleeping touching.. Their butts were just touching... Ill have to figure how to get it off them onto the comp. I think theres a lead somewhere, cos I don't like using the internet on my phone.

popeye I've got a couple of photos on my phone and have never been able to figure out how to get them on to the computer, the lead doesn't seem to do anything - knowing my luck, it's a dud one.

I said a while ago that it looked like it would rain soon, well it's absolutely chucking it down. I have washing on the line from yesterday (the line is covered by a roof) but I suspect it's still getting wetter around the edges.

I can switch photos from my phone to laptop and vice versa popeye so you should be able to do the same. I have had a thought though, should I have an antivirus on my phone? Must find out as I swap photos around and am on the internet occasionally with my phone. hmmmm.... might have to find this out.

Still raining here, washing is done, and last nights leftover chook about to be turned into chicken and leek pie for dinner tonight. Just making a nice stock from the bones for the 'base' of the pie. Then I can knit!

Just touching lol.. 10 weeks since we got her.

I normally take my camera to bed, but of course last night I didn't.

Have been up the road. Even MrP came into the shops with me. Got hair ties and a wind up yourself torch. Yay no batteries. Probably last a week knowing my luck lol.
Got some trays of Mushrooms for MrP he loves them. And they were on the discount table. And they don't affect his diabetes.
And got some nice little dinner rolls for me.. I "needed" a bread fix.

best buy was some pork chops, shoulder ones cos I like them best. Two huge chops per tray and $4-70 a tray. So instead of a roast on national roast day we will have a chop each and a potato bake cos I love cheese with pork. And some greens for MrP.

Our daughter phoned and asked if she could stay with us for a 'week or so' with our grandy while they wait for the carpet layer to lay the carpet in the house they are moving into. So we are going to have one very busy household soon, two dogs and a baby. The Furry One will be in seventh heaven as he just loves our grandy. And now she is walking around furniture.... ohhh boy lol. Better make sure I have fresh batteries for the camera :P

Got some knitting done over the weekend, the weather was perfect for guilt-free crafting.

Thick fog here this morning, but I think it will clear to a sunny day. There seems to be quite a nip in the air though and my windows have all had a good cry overnight - what a pain.

Supposed to have someone coming at 10.30 so I had better get dressed and have breakfast fairly soon.

Yes we have crying windows too. I didn't put the dehumidifier on last night, and boy you could feel the temp drop.
Yes I would invest in a rechargeable batteried charger camera too. Got a life time of Maddys antics let alone the furry one. Or a battery charger and batteries. Two sets so you have one in camera and one charging.

Have done both feet and legs of Santa. And I think Im up to about 13ish squares. I did a few in bed last night but have left the ends to sew in this morning. Better light out here.
