| re: New NZ Post rate changes I think NZ Post must follow the theory of not letting your left hand know what the right hand is doing. Seems there is a lot of confusion around, even from NZ Post itself. I can't help but think they are biting the hand that feeds them. For example Fishpond, an online business, operating solely online and mail order, uses NZ Post CAL's: 50c, $1 and $1.50. I doubt Fishpond will be happy having to pay/charge extra (for tracking labels) just to use the CAL's with NZ Post, CAL's/'stamps' provided by NZ Post especially for them. Or to take the risk of no tracking. jaybee2003 - 2008-03-21 18:42:00 |

| Re 499 America's cup Cal Don. I don't believe NZ Post have issued a 2008 America's cup CAL as per what is being offered on ebay. James Te Puni of NZ Post in Wellington told Don White of Dunedin Stamp Centre that they were produced by NZ post but I think James doesn't know what he is talking about and has got it wrong. The people at Wanganui who actually produce all the CALs say they haven't produced it and I'll believe them before I believe James Te Puni. It is frustrating however when you get such conflicting information from different NZ Post people. regards, Steven McLachlan of Sshades Stamp Shop Ltd in Christchurch. kiwisteven - 2008-03-24 22:46:00 |
| Interesting info there kiwisteven I would have thought the CAL's would be produced for NZ usage rather than for international companies. willy_hunt - 2008-03-25 11:08:00 |
| I know very little about stamps Are old stamps with postmarks on them collectable? My mother has some she thinks are valuable (I'm sceptical). She wants me to sell them for her on TM but I don't know how to price them. Where do I go to get them valued please? june11 - 2008-03-25 12:01:00 |
| Thank you donaldo So if they have a postmark on them, are they still worth something? I (who knows very little about stamps) thought they had to be unused. Mother thinks they have to be used to be valuable - could you please enlighten us? Many thanks june11 - 2008-03-25 12:07:00 |

| CALS again I have been trying to find out who issued some of the latest cals. EG the planes, the bloke etc. I wrote to NZPOST and received images and all of the dates of issue. They didnt actually answer my question. I had noticed that there is a large variation in colours. According to the list provided some, like fishpond have been released 3 or 4 times so far. Blocks of 4 wont guarantee original release. Also nothing for Americas Cup in the list. drwho3 - 2008-03-26 19:02:00 |
| drwho We have been chasing up these as well....The Bloke is the model for Phonak (Hearing aids ) There is an add for that company on the back page of the latest AA Directory....The Planes are NZ Defence force. You can contact me via donaldo if you want more info. willy_hunt - 2008-03-26 21:47:00 |
| Hi drwho3.... Re the cals: The 2 plane cals were issued by NZDF, one of a Hercules and the other of an Orion. The shirtless bloke is issued by Phonak (Hearing aids). He was the model for an advertising campaign. I suppose all that a block of 4 says is that they weren't part of a CAL pack. There do seem to be mild colour variations with some reprints, which I suppose *could* give an indication of which printing, going on known datestamp usages. jaybee2003 - 2008-03-26 21:51:00 |

| Cellotape on stamps HELP? I have been given some stamps to sell for charity. 5 Mt Ruapehu $10.00. They all have some cellotape on them. Can anyone tell this amateur how to remove it without damaging the stamps? I also have some CAL's on card any ideas would be appreciated on how to remove these also. Many thanks in advance. Lyndal what007 - 2008-04-07 09:28:00 |
| #532 Hi what007, Re the CALS, if you are selling them, I would leave them on card. Many CAL collectors will be interested in the franking/year of franking, so probably the more left there the better as far as resale. jaybee2003 - 2008-04-07 11:03:00 |
| Jaybee 2003 Thanks for that. what007 - 2008-04-07 11:28:00 |
| Re * 532 cellotape Try Lighter Fluid it wont damage the stamp. rebel58 - 2008-04-07 16:29:00 |
| REBEL58 Thanks for that. I assume I should just pour alittle onto the stamp. I will try on a less valuable stamp first. what007 - 2008-04-07 17:32:00 |
| Lighter Fluid I normally use the lighter fluid on UHM mint stamps so I can view hard to see Watermarks(does not harm the gum) and have had some success removing cellotape from stamps rebel58 - 2008-04-07 20:38:00 |
