| Good on you grizzly You have to knit things for yourself every so often I reckon. Have knitted a few more beanies and have a kittle cardi half finished for M R. It is a far too big for her now but she will grow into it before we know it. Was looking at sock wool but it is darn expensive. makerealbany - 2008-01-08 10:30:00 |
| how wonderful makerealbany dont you just love that new baby smell. I have 3 of each and love the all to bits. oldest nearly 16 and youngest 6 months smartgirl - 2008-01-08 10:44:00 |
| Oops smartgirl Just bid on an auction and then saw that you had bid also! I love that velvet wool but will withdraw sweetie good luck. How is your back? Mine is giving me gyp but it will simmer down again. It was all those sleepless nights with the false labour starting and going on for 4 or 5 hours and then stopping. Never mind she is worth it. makerealbany - 2008-01-08 10:59:00 |
| hi makereal how is the wee baby today. i put my big one on a plane back to australia 2 and a half hours ago so am feeling sorry for myself at the moment. My back is still the same but hopefully will pick up once i see the specialist again in a couple of weeks. smartgirl - 2008-01-08 18:56:00 |
| Not feeding too well our little precious so I am in Orewa tonight looking after Midwife daughters kids and she is staying the night with the tired parents so she can help correct bubbies feeding. Poor little darling had her tongue snipped today and now she can open her mouth wide but has to learn to suck because she had been fed breastmilk from a spoon. Brings back memories. I had 5 of the rascals having married a good Italian Catholic boy and I sure can remember those days. makerealbany - 2008-01-09 00:36:00 |
| Awe, the poor wee thing. it wont take too long for her to settle down. Mum is so luck to have a midwife sister. You amaze me makereal, you seem to have so much energy and always sound so enthusiastic. smartgirl - 2008-01-09 09:27:00 |
| That's a lovely message, makerealbany! I have never felt so complete as I do now with grown up children and wee grandchildren around me. Although my family isn't as big as yours! grizzly4 - 2008-01-09 09:40:00 |
| of course I was referring to message 500 having not moved on a page to catch up LOL! grizzly4 - 2008-01-09 14:01:00 |
| Hi Girls M R is feeding well now. Aunty T spent hours getting her trained and now she has discovered what Mummy has she is always nuzzling and opening her mouth with that cute little tongue sticking right out.Poor Aunty had to go to work the next day. I am in Orewa with my two grandchildren from Aussi and the two here as well as my daughter to take these boisterous kids to the beach. It is so hot. makerealbany - 2008-01-10 14:02:00 |
| You should see us all together Grizzly with my Mum, my sisters brother, their spouces, all the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. We are a huge Whanau as Mum and Dad had 6 of us. We have huge family celebrations of life. makerealbany - 2008-01-10 14:08:00 |
| Sounds wonderful! Not so warm here this week. I have to get some housework done today, too many hours spent knitting and doing cross-stitch. grizzly4 - 2008-01-11 09:39:00 |
| Had a great day With the grandchildren. Daughter went to work at 6. Idid the washing and housework. Put a leg of lamb in the slow cooker. Raced up to Whangaparoa to shop with the visiting grandchildren, then dropped them all at the movies, came home put the Roast pork in the oven, peeled the veges, got the washing in, folded it, put it away then back up the road to pick up the kids. Daughter arrived with her elder brother and his 18 year old son. Set the table and new parents arrived looking exhausted followed by younger brother, his partner and his 4 year old. We had a great catch up as the visiting two had not seen their oldest Uncle for a couple of years. He is an Invalid and he doesn't travel overseas. Had a lovely family dinner. makerealbany - 2008-01-12 00:29:00 |
| Did not do any knitting But will do tomorrow night. Will take A and J to their other Nana's tomorrow morning as they fly home on Sunday, then eldest son shopping. Grandson needs clothes and advice. LOL on what to buy. Then I will head home to my cozy cottage and my cats. Got two days of bubbies washing to do when I get there though. Daughter is really tired looking and S looks much the same. Told him just to soak clothes and left two buckets of Napisan ready. Marvelous stuff. A has a basket to leave woolies in. I wash those in Lux and it is just too much info for a MAN TO REMEMBER.HA HA. He will be glad to go back to work overseas. At lest he will catch up on sleep. makerealbany - 2008-01-12 00:41:00 |
| makereal, you did not have time for knitting what is your secret, where do you get your energy from. you should bottle it and sell it on trademe. that wool you bid on, take it, i have bought too much lately and did end up buying something similar. have a good day smartgirl - 2008-01-12 07:57:00 |
| Lots of grandchildren must keep you young! had an evening out with my son, his partner and my preg. daughter. We went to Speedway where my husband is a referee. I haven't been for years 'cos my joints can't cope with the cold but last night was still 20 degrees at 11.30pm! And it was firework night so really enjoyed it. grizzly4 - 2008-01-13 10:43:00 |
| Hi girls I did get that wool smartgirl no one else bid. Must send her an email. Have not had time to access internet until now. Kids have gone home to Aussi. Daughter at work. Came up to Orewathis morning at 6-30. Went to gym and now waiting for granddaughter to take her back to Albany. Her Mum is at work. M R has an awful lot of colic poor little darling. She gets so restless and whenever I take she listens to my voice and snuggles down to sleep. Little minx has got her Nana Sussed. Made my daughter and her partner go out for 2 hours while bubs was asleep. Told them not to ring us. ha ha. She was fine but Mummy felt disorientated. Lucky you grizzly I love the speedway have not been for two years sigh. Know what you mean about the cold. makerealbany - 2008-01-14 08:42:00 |
| Got some nice wool From Spotlight on Sunday. Sensations Sparkle Mohair. Was only $2 a ball in store special. Could not resist it ha ha. makerealbany - 2008-01-14 08:44:00 |
| Been to the optometrist this afternoon. Really struggling with the close-up work these days so my glasses need to be progressive from now on. The age thing cost me $1000!!!! The things we do to keep on knitting, eh? grizzly4 - 2008-01-14 18:15:00 |
| you will love the progressive ones, i have had them for about 10 years now and would not go back. my last ones cost the same smartgirl - 2008-01-14 18:56:00 |
| I hardly use my progressive glasses Paid the same two years ago and yet I always use my normal reading glasses and do I need them ha ha. Only use them for things like seminars where I have to use a whiteboard and a Laptop. Took me awhile to get used to them. Had a great swim today and then collected shellfish with my granddaughter. She had threaded ribbon through bootees and mittens while I sewed up 10 beanies and 3 bonnets so I owed her. Lol. She has been delving into my wool stash for wool to start a project. Yay!! Baby is settling nicely and feeding very well. Poor parents are worn out. How did we do it they ask. We sure didn't have 3 min sterilizers. Great things. makerealbany - 2008-01-15 23:37:00 |
| 3 mins! Thats a fast one, the one I use is 7 mins and now my late model microwave is on the blink which is a pain when it comes to steralising bottles!! It turns itself off after 30 secs every time now regardless of the time I have programmed. At least I can still heat bottles, I guess. grizzly4 - 2008-01-16 09:55:00 |
| Actually I wonder how it can be so quick!!. Modern marvels. Back to Albany. Have to get a haircut. My hair is a shaggy mess, my nails leave a lot to be desired as well. My daughters always have enough time to get their haircut, eyebrows and lashes done etc. MMMM Maybe I had better start taking better care of myself. It is hard to be selfish but I feel like being a bit selfish today. Went to the gym at 7 and even all the older ladies looked more glamorous than me, Lol. Have a happy day girls. makerealbany - 2008-01-16 10:24:00 |
| I know what you mean..... there doesn't seem enough hours in the day for the 'luxury' things does there? I feel this week is all about me: new glasses Monday, haircut and mammogram Thursday!! Have to get these things taken care of before goiung back to work Monday. Holiday nearly over! grizzly4 - 2008-01-16 15:48:00 |
| Time has gone fast grizzly Got my haircut. Feel like a new woman. lol. Made some plum jam last night. Just been down the hill to pick some more plums. Where are my grandchildren when I need them???? Dropped some off at the neighbours who are always dropping little gifts in. Went to see another neighbour with silverbeet for her rabbits and nearly had to bring the kids home. Somehow they have adopted me ha ha. Their Nana is far away. Other in laws are here at the weekend so we will be planting babies whenua(placenta) under her Pohutukawa tree we have bought for her. Her other Nana nad Pop live in Wellington, so another busy weekend. Have to shop, bake and cook again. sigh!!! It will be an awesome day. makerealbany - 2008-01-17 17:53:00 |
| Time has gone fast but it has been just the right amount of time to rejuvenate and get back to my clients next week. I don't have that disappointed feeling of having to go back to work so that must mean the break has been great! grizzly4 - 2008-01-18 09:47:00 |
| makereal, have a wonderful day dont wee ones change everyones priorities. all for the right reason. its great. did your wool arrive yet. it was a bargain smartgirl - 2008-01-18 20:49:00 |
| Not yet smartgirl I only got an email about the postage yesterday so banked today. It is for an Animal Refuge so they are most likely very busy looking after hurt and abandoned animals. One of my sellers seem a bit touchy though. Sigh!!! Emailed her to say I had banked. She replied she only posted on certain days. I replied okay no probelm. Then low and behold I get another touchy email asking for proof of banking. Sent the teller ID and no, time, date, where etc and no contact yet. I know mistakes happen but some people need to learn tolerance instead of jumping on others as if they were gnats. Why do some people get so worked up? over such trivial things. Life is too short. This morning at the gym I was hobbling a bit, ruddy feet swollen and a lovely older member said she had the same probelm. After our workout we stretched out together and she was telling me all about her sick hubby as we both stood up both of our knees cracked at the same time. We fell down again laughing. makerealbany - 2008-01-18 23:53:00 |
| grizzly glad you enjoyed Your break. At times I do miss the contact with clients. Seriously considering that at the moment. My brain misses the challenges. I am feeling the need for mental stimulation. makerealbany - 2008-01-19 00:07:00 |
| makereal, my feet have beeb so swollen lately I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. Yes, some can be so touchy, I forgot to bank the $1 postage,(which was sent on a different email to the bank details) and she replied with a threat to relist the book and give me bad feedback. Really!!! smartgirl - 2008-01-19 09:10:00 |
| Hubby bought a couple of tshirts off TM recently. took over a week to hear from the seller, then he sent a wrong t-shirt! Hubby chose to keep the wrong one and send more money for the right one. It's been well over a week since we banked the second lot of money and no contact received or t-shirt. It's luck most of the trades we make are great ones, eh? grizzly4 - 2008-01-19 09:59:00 |
| There is no understanding some people. Lucky we are so normal. lol. smartgirl - 2008-01-19 10:40:00 |
| Still no contact Ah well. This heat is not helping our feet smartgirl. Is the ground dry where you girls are?. It is wicked here. Need some rain. Most of the traders are really nice people but a few rotten apples do not have to ruin the barrel aye? Have a great day girls and stay out of the sun unless you are in the water that is. I have got heaps of sunspots and freckles now and yet I wear sunblock and a hat. Too late!!!!! Must be my age. Lol makerealbany - 2008-01-19 12:22:00 |
| What is normal smartgirl? Lots of my friends think I am nuts because I am always on the go. I tell them they are procrastinators but we love each other all the same. At times I envy their fortitude, at times they envy mine. The differences are what makes us normal. ha ha makerealbany - 2008-01-19 12:27:00 |
| Yes, it is starting to dry out, but we had a bit of rain in December so it has kept it greener longer than usual. Have you gone to beanies for babies and registered? Great thing Tia is doing, and if anyone is busy she is. I admire her. smartgirl - 2008-01-19 12:28:00 |
| Hi to Zoe You have a wonderful courageous spirit. Craft can be a wonderful healing work for the spirit. It is also my passion and creative outlet. I use craft to help me through the difficult times. I knit,crochet,cross-stitch and do needle-point. I had the plesure of buying some plastic canvas from you in December which will be converted into one of my many projects. hazeleyes9 - 2008-01-19 14:06:00 |

| Welcome back Zoe So nice to hear from you. We were all wondering how you were. Getting the meds right can be very daunting. Hope you had a neat Xmas. Is this heat getting to you?. It has been so hot. makerealbany - 2008-01-20 09:56:00 |
| Hi hazeleyes Isn't it wonderful how creating something can make you feel so good when your activities are limited because of your health? It is great to hear a new voice. makerealbany - 2008-01-20 10:00:00 |
| Have not registered yet Although I have sent a donation and have others ready smartgirl. Hi grizzly. I laugh at your ID because you seem the lest grizzly person I know!!!!! Had to correct several mistakes in typing today darn arthritis making my fingers slip. ha At lest that is my excuse. Baby's Whenua planting today so must get cooking again. Up at Orewa thought we might have a swim in between jobs. Certainly helps the swelling being in the water. Air feels damper today. Good!!!! makerealbany - 2008-01-20 10:08:00 |
| hi makereal, have a great day yes my feel are not as bad today, but in the last week i have been making a big effort to drink heaps of water, and that helps as well. smartgirl - 2008-01-20 11:07:00 |
| I know I need to drink more water I get busy and then realise I haven't had a drink for ages. Might go and get one now. makerealbany - 2008-01-20 12:14:00 |
| I hate plain water but I brought a bottle of lime and just put a few drops in each bottle. I have been drinking 2x 750 mils but would like to do 3 smartgirl - 2008-01-20 12:17:00 |
| Hi makerealalbany Thank you for the lovely welcome. I certainly love my crafts. I have battled depression and agoraphobia many years. It became worse when couple of years ago when I developed alot of internal problems and had to have a hysterectomy as it was along wait to find out what the problem was and until the operation which meant being medicated around the clock. So I slept alot and could not keep up with the few friends I had. When I was awake there wasn't much energy so I did my craft to keep me from going completly bonkers. hazeleyes9 - 2008-01-20 16:43:00 |
| hi hazeleyes, i hope you are feeling a lot better these days. craft is great for healing i think, what do you do? smartgirl - 2008-01-20 16:48:00 |
| Hi Zoe Lovely to see you on the messageboard. I am sorry to hear how unwell you have been. I think everyone understands your situation pretty well and that some days the you just don't have the energy to reply to our posts but you have made friends who care about you and that genuinely interested in you. You are in many peoples thoughts and prayers. Certainly mine anyway. hazeleyes9 - 2008-01-20 16:49:00 |
| Hi Smartgirl Thank you for asking. Yes, I am feeling much better since the operation. I was full of endometriosis and had a benign tumour that had grown to the size of an orange. So with all that gone and no need for much of the heavy meds I am much more wide awake and happily practicing my crafts. I love to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint and have done latch-hook. I also like to do jig-saw puzzles. What do you like to do? hazeleyes9 - 2008-01-20 17:00:00 |
| Had a great day girls We planted M R's Pohutukawa tree and straight after it started to gently sprinkle which is excellent. She went off to sleep as she is only 15 days old. All the family came and we had a lovely barbeque afterwards and a celebratory wine or two. Well everyone else did except for A who is breastfeeding and the drivers of which I was one of course!!! I got back and had a glass of Ricadonna. Well the next family event is next month. Mum has a big birthday coming up and until then I am going to finish a pile of ufos as well as knit Mum a shawl. She just loves shawls. makerealbany - 2008-01-20 23:46:00 |
| I initially got hubby involved in TM years ago because of his collections hence he chose our ID. Grizzly was his nickname in the Airforce. However I got as hooked into TM as he did! grizzly4 - 2008-01-21 08:12:00 |
