Hey look top of the page lol!

twinklestar - if you cast on say 20 stitches and then increase in every stitch in the first row, the effect is quite different from casting on 40 stitches. Try it and you'll see the difference.

morning girls hope I feel better today last night was aulfull with runs, did a few rows of knitting, nothing planed for today

Morning ladies, we are supposed to be going to look at a couple of cars today - I can't say I'm thrilled about it, because I like our old heap, but I have to admit it is 25 years old and the bodywork is starting to give out on it, but I feel Mr K is rushing in to it because as he puts it "he wants to get me sorted out with a better vehicle before he croaks!" so I'll go along with it as hopefully we end up with something lower mileage and more economical to run. It's just that if he does pop off I am still going to be left with two boats sitting on two moorings and I will find them much more difficult to deal with than buying and selling a new car.

Anyway while we are out and about looking at cars, we are going to do a detour to the warehouse for some bits and pieces so it won't be a wasted trip - I read somewhere that yarn is half price at the warehouse, not sure if it is still on today, but I will check it out, just in case there is something I "need" (not likely after the Deramores delivery).

No doubt he will want to get out early (although he's still in bed at the moment) but I had better get myself organised.

I did a few rows on my 10 stitch blanket last night and managed to fall asleep halfway along a row - I must have been tired. Also did a complete round on the crocheted one - as it's getting bigger, it takes longer and longer to go right round it.

Happy knitting everyone.

morning ladies :) Housework and washing are all done so I'm off for another day at 'work'. Not a lot of knitting getting done, I fell asleep on the couch lol. Oh well, another week to go :)

Hope everyone is well and staying warm.

Happy knitting :)

chilly morning here but suppose to be ok so hopefully will get the big washing pile washed and dry. Am feeling rather tired after sitting up very late watching the women's triathalon on Prime. Managed to sew buttons and thread ends on a couple of recently knitted items yesterday. Still a couple more to do.
have a good day everyone

Morning everyone. Thank you for kind thoughts.. yes it was a huge shock. but shes a positive lady so will be strong.
Twinklestar jean often does that in her patterns cos it gives a firmer edging to things. Ive got a lot of her books and have been making them since 1988 lol. I got a new one yesterday from the oppy. If your planning on getting them new use deramores they are half the price of them in spotlight.

Yes there is wool on special in Warehouse Kuaka its in the mailer.

I have 2 buttons and one patch to do of frosty, I took the wrong green to the bedroom and ran out of tele to watch while I was doing them lol.. So about 15 mins this morning and they will be done.

Have to pack up the meat we got yesterday, the floor badly needs doing cos the little housekeeper keeps bring in leaves etc.

I cant work with 9-10mm needles. Hated it when I tried, lol

Have to put my secretarys hat on soon too, to find out skip prices for a friend. I do things like that for her while she is at work.

Have a good day everyone.

Oh dear, well having spent a fortune buying another vehicle we went to the Warehouse. I "needed" yarn (?!? - like a hole in the head) but I did have bras and knickers on the shopping list. I managed to buy only one bra as there was a special on and there was only one in my size (typical as I was going to buy 3), bought 3 x two-packs of knickers and when I got home and looked at them, one set of two has the crotch about 2 inches off centre, so they will be going back. Grrrr! Pretty poor quality control. Brasses me off.

So came home and did the money transfer for the car and arranged insurance, now we just have to wait for it to be delivered on Monday. Then I have to give the old girl a spring clean and try and sell her.

Meantime, it's feet up and relax.

Nite all.

Oh yes, I bought 3 x 400gm of yarn!

morning :) yep, beaut frost here too Carol but at least it should be a gorgeous day. The Furry One has just poked his nose out from under the blankets so it must be cold.

We're off to Tauranga to help rebuild my sister-in-law's fence that was blown over in one of the storms. Might take my knitting, I mean, how many people does it take to put some panels into a fence lol.

I'm nosey too, what type of car did you buy kuaka?

Hope everyone is well, happy knitting :)

morning all - it's a 2004 (so still 10 years old) but low mileage and in immaculate condition (won't be for long I suspect!) Toyota Allion. Nice looking car, easy to drive, it's white, and it is very very different from driving the old Nissan Safari which we've had for the last 7 years - I have to climb up into that and it's like driving a tank. I hope I like the new one, as we have to get rid of the Safari once I've spring cleaned her.

It seems quite mild here this morning, I've got the heat pump on of course as Mr K is still in bed and he feels the cold, but it was 17 degrees in the lounge so not bad for this time of year. Didn't feel cold when I got the Herald in off the driveway.

Good luck with the fence building kiwimade.

I see Countdown have 40c a litre fuel voucher if you spend over $200 this weekend, but I really don't think I need to buy much so might have to give that a miss. Shame, 'cos 40c a litre is a huge saving. The new car is petrol which I see is over $2.20 a litre compared to diesel at $1.50 a litre for the old heap, but we should get more kms to the litre. The safari is very thirsty - that's another reason for letting her go. Also with the new one being petrol we don't have to buy Road User Charges.

Going to do some crochet before breakfast. Have a great day everyone.

Is toyota a good brand of a sewing machine? I am just curious. Its an older machine and just been serviced.
I am home from work today with a real sore throat and chest. Pj day for me.

Morning everyone.. Lovely day here. even tho its only 11.6 in the lounge. It doesn't get the sun till lunchtime.
Who gave me this headache lol? I think I know why I have it tho, I sat up sewing frosty last night. Still have a fair bit to go but Im pleased with the progress.
Kiwimade someone has to supervise, so you do that and multitask, show them how clever you are lol.
Your will notice it hurts at the pump Kuaka but at least you wont have road users and petrol cars are cheaper to service etc too. We got rid of our diesel.
I really have to vacuum today, said to MrP I could probably rake Bobs fur up today. lol hes always been a heavy moulter.

Have a good day everyone.

5415

True popeye, but I'm hoping we'll get more than 6km a litre which is about what the Safari does.

carolev - I'd be peed off too if that happened to me, and it has previously a couple of times. I always think that you have to buy the groceries so if you can get a nice fuel voucher too, it's just a bonus. Sometimes you get one, sometimes you don't

Carolev I saw something on fair go the other week about that sort of thing. I think if a shop is one of the" trusted shops" or something like that, you can get a refund. I know 2 degrees mobile is one of these.
I have emailed the auckland shop about 2nd hand machines, as hamilton 5 x roads dont have second hand ones, but auckland can send it to hamilton. Thanks for that Carolev

New car sounds good *kuaka* I hope it gives you years of joy. We have a 10 years trouble free and single try warrant 1995 Honda Odyssey which is very comfortable for us. When needed I can carry6 passengers r 5 passengers, 2 guide dogs and 2 or 3 walkers.
I will downsize about the same time I attempt to sell one big blue Fordson Major Tractor and one 1966 Pontiac Laurentian.
My mr. says if I go first he will have to dispose of my wool and needles. As I don't have a stash like some of you I do not see that as hard. The local knit and knatter group will take it.

Hi all, I have a dear son who went to a garage sale and bought me a spinning wheel (I already have one - does he expect me to spin with both hands), 4 bags of fleece, 2 baskets from the Trade Aid shop, one with unspun fleece, and one with shop wool and two partly knitted garments. To finish one I need about 3 100 gram balls of black Fontana Brushed Caressa yard, part acrylic, part wool, part mohair. Would be glad to hear if anyone has.

Macgrannz if you use facebook There are a couple of groups you might be able to find what your looking for. New Zealand Yarn/wool swappers and New Zealand Knitters & crocheters. There are other groups but Im sure the ladies in these groups will be able to point you in the right direction. I can add you to the yarn swappers as Im admin.

Nice of your son to think of you tho. My sister in law is a spinner, and I know she has two wheels, one is a travelling one that folds up. so two wheels isn't too bad lol

GMS MrP would just take all my craft stuff to the oppy lol... I dread having to go through his stuff in the garage that's why I try and nudge him to go through it now lol.

Been working on frosty. But had a couple of Loooong phone calls so need to get back to it again shortly

Lovely and sunny here but quite cold. Heat pump is on and starting to warm the place up nicely. I would light the woodfire but I think later on we won't need it but I will light it late afternoon and have it on all evening.

Mr K is still in bed, he was awake half the night watching the games, I couldn't sleep either and read for several hours, now my eyes feel terrible. I'm having a cup of tea and going to do some crocheting while I think about what to have for breakfast.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone. a nice mild morning here.

Just got off the phone with a friend. Her church has closed and she doesn't know what to do with her sunday mornings, till she finds one she will go to. So she rings me instead lol.
Will get frosty finished today. not a lot to do now. You know its hard to do Bad darning and make it so it can be seen well, when with socks you try to make it so you don't see it lol.

Have to put a new battery in the bathroom scales, Missy wont sit still enough and I think she has out grown the kitchen scales... Shes being a ratbag this morning .

Have a good day everyone

morning what a nice cold frost -4 here but will be a great day, I might go out today if my bank book says I can, need gas, on the sleeves now I got to see the grandchildren yesterday had a great time. love them all to bits

5430

morning ladies, not a frost here but thick thick fog. I've got the heat pump on but have lit the fire, so heat pump will go off once the fire gets going properly.

I wish I could see my grandchildren carolev but they are all in the UK. I just accept that I can't and don't even think about it. Fretting over it just makes it hurt so it's best to accept I don't see them grow up and forget about it.

I've started another bag - making much better progress on this one, and making a much better job of it, now that I've worked out that some things just don't work if you do them in the wrong order. Also worked out how to put the zip in - easy once I really thought about it!

Making good progress on my crocheted blanket, won't be long till I've finished it, I'll keep going till I run out of wool. I have 3 and a bit balls of fawn and one and a half of the navy so roughly the same amount of each as the fawn is 50gm balls and the navy 100gm.

I've also started a baby blanket in the "mile a minute" pattern, but I'm doing it bright lime green centre strips edged in white, or as one of the ladies at knit and natter said last week - it's a "high viz blanket". It will be unique.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning everyone.. Very crisp outside.. but looks like it will be a glorious day.
Im like you Kuaka, I just accept things cant happen and get on with it. I "Put things on shelves in my head" things that cant be changed and I don't need to think about.
I used to hope that MrPs eldest grand children might want to see him when they had grown, but that hasn't happened. So we don't think about it.

Got my friend to help lay put my "Project" blanket. She understood just how hard it can be. We are both Taurus and our minds thought very much alike when doing it. So Ill start putting that together today.
Then Ill get back to the charity ones.

Have got washing to put out after the lawn boys have been.

Have a good day everyone

Morning
Another lovely day here just hope it lasts as last 2days it's turned cold and bleak in the afternoons, usually just as I want to go for a walk, will walk earlier today as have to take pipe for washing machine in so it won't leak all over the floor when tap turned on.
Finished a little Einstein last evening and started a milo with the left over wool, hope there is enough otherwise it will gain some stripes.

Happy knitting everyone

Just got back from our walk. According to the digital thermometer on the waterfront, it's 20 degrees. Glorious sunny day, no wind, not a ripple on the water. You could almost think it was summer, well spring at least, not winter. I don't care if this weather lasts till summer, in fact, I'd be very happy. Mr K is sitting out on the deck in the sun. That has to be good for him.

Waiting for our new car to arrive. We phoned and said we're home now and the salesman said he's just having a quick lunch then he'll come over with it. Can't wait.

Bit mixed weather wise here. MrP not too good today so he is still in bed.

Yes I need a GD doing a beauty course,
My GD's are mainly doing early childhood studies.
No knitting done today. My husband had a fall , I am rather cross with him .
He is now fast asleep so I suppose I should throw a blankie over him as it is cooling down quickly.

Ouch GM I hope hes alright...I did giggle at your blankie comment. Reminds me of my Dad falling asleep in fron t of the heater and Mum would turn everything off andleave him to freeze!

Popeye I did some 4" squares last night. Have done with 2x each colour to match up with some of the 8" ones. I thought after I probs should of joined them as I was making them

Ohh not good about Pasue GMs, was he doing something he shouldn't have been, and knew he shouldn't be, then fell?
MrP had a few anginas through the night, didn't bother to wake me. Then tells me a wee while ago he was going to use his alarm... He got a telling off. So is grumpy now. He is grumpy, which means he is still in pain but wont admit it.
So Ive been sitting minding me own business crocheting my project together. Only have one row to join on and the border to do. Its been a fast job with all the same sized stitching.

Hello all, I have been sick lately. Some virus thingy. Last friday I could not go to the gym, felt so tired but then on saturday, I was crook as. Managed to finish my shift but have been off work since. I went to spotlight today as had to take car in to get radiator replaced, and the acrylic there was dearer than the $2 type shops, so I carried on the my local and got a few balls. Dissapointed with spotlight, never mind maybe next week there will be a good sale.

I hope you continue getting better,*twinklestar*
I also hope *mrP* is over his 'sulk' . Funnily enough this morning B said he feels undressed now without his alarm. he says he would have pushed it if he hadn't been able to get up. I would have got a shock. We both also are supposed to take our cell phones when we go outside to potter.
We do sleep in the same bed still so I would be shattered if he pushed his alarm without tring to wake me first.. Yes he was doing something he shouldn't have been doing and he was doing it while I was pre-occupied with something else.
He is now in bed and doesn't seem to have any repercussions but we will see in the morning.
I am really tired so I am off to bed too.

morning ladies :) Just had a quick catch up on all the news, hope PaSue is OK GMS, falls are just nasty. Twinklestar, hope you are over your bugs and everyone else is well.

I'm coming to the end of my stint in my friend's shop, her employee come back on Monday.

Took my dragon in to be framed yesterday and omg I just love the frame I chose. When I get it back in around 10 days, I'll post a pic.

No knitting done for days! Am feeling serious withdrawls lol so must get back into it. By the time I get home, I'm pretty tired and lately have been falling asleep on the couch. Weekends are spent trying to get lawn mowed and so on.

The Furry and Fluffy Ones are in doggy heaven as the milk tanker comes by twice a day now lol, yesterday was even better with two rubbish trucks as well!

Happy knitting :)

Morning
Nice to see you Kiwimade, they might cost the earth but a frame specifically chosen for a project makes it extra special -what a heirloom the dragon will be.
Hope all are feeling a lot better this morning and that all the "old boys" behave themselves today.

Not particularly cold here today which is good as I have a lot of washing to do. The hose on the washing machine was leaking so haven,t done any for several days while it was being fixed.

Have been sewing vinyl soles on the slippers which although is tedious to do does make them last longer, did a count up and have done 80 pairs now, I got the pattern in 2008 so not bad going. Gave a pair to SiL and her mother and DiL now also wants a pair so looks like I'll be needing to start another batch soon.

I do have a little top on the go as well so have something that does not need concentration to do in the evenings.

Have a good day.

Morning everyone.
GMs don't you just want to smack them sometimes, they know they shouldn't be doing some things but have to try. And yes we both feel naked without our alarms. Its the ultimate peace of mind.

Twinkle I hope you start feeling better soon. I get my acrylic from deramores, its cheaper in most cases but much softer.

Im sure the money you spend on having the dragon framed will be well worth it Kiwimade. An investment in the future. Lol at the furry ones. They would love being here we have a lot of trucks on Mondays especially lol

Do you get sick of making the slippers jayemtoo?

I have the "project" blanket put together, two days which was a fast one. Ive decided to put a two colour grey border on it. cos I don't think I have enough of the lighter grey I have done the joining with to do more than one row.
Got some lovely squares from Jordy yesterday big and small so its going to be fun doing baby blankets.
Overcast here today. But I had the fan on through the night I got too warm.

Have a good day everyone,

No Popeye fortunately I still enjoy making them, initially I made a lot and let people choose them but now only do them when asked and only for family and friends as I would find the pressure of doing them for orders a strain. I wait until I have about 4 people wanting them then do a batch so only a couple of weeks of knitting slippers with a good break in between.

Well I am feeling better but talk about tired! I did the dishes and then I had to have a rest. Taking tomorrow off as well. The boss said, if I want I can have friday off as well and use sat/sun to help get energy up, as its my sat/sun off. Will see how I feel tomorrow. I did think maybe if I was in a different environment, and its warm at work, as well as moving around, I should come right sooner.
