I am spending time with my granddaughters and have two blankets on the go,a blue one and a pink purple one and using up ends to make squares. A friend gave me a bag of bits ,it's fun sorting them out. I am still getting over bronchitis so am taking it easy.

Just ducked to the shops to get a a few things. Shortly i shall get back to a scarf I started yesterday. It's growing quickly as I am using 12 ply on 7.5mm needles.

not good about the car Carolev, there are some real low-life out there who never seem to think about how their actions would affect others.

Just finished felting four pairs of slippers seemed to take ages this time, it was different wool which I had been given, now just hope they fit the recipients.
Have started 2 little puerperium tops, I so like this pattern as so easy to do and always appreciated it is for a friend who is soon to be grandmother to twin girls.

Sun is out but also drizzling with rain but at least it is warmer than it was this morning, the Napier/Taupo road was closed due to snow overnight so no wonder it was rather cold this morning.

Well it's been a lovely day here really - cold but sunny - and if we had a lovely warm sunny house, I'm sure we would say it was wonderful, but as we have a cold house which doesn't see the sun at this time of the year, all I can say is thank heaven for heat pumps and wood fires!

I have almost finished a project which I started some 13 years ago, just have to do the handles! I'm very pleased to be within this much of finishing, but I'm not really all that happy with the quality of the finished article. I should have taken a bit more care and produced a better finished item. Photo tomorrow or the next day.

Just heard about a knitter who has injured herself with a knitting needle.
I also know of 2 other's who have damaged their ears from absentmindedly scratching their ear. I worry about eye injuries.

I wonder what ACC have us knitters classified as and which category do we come under?
Homemaker?
Crafter?
Sportsperson?
Hobbyist?

morning ladies :) omg GMS, sounds painful. I know as a teen my sister picked up my crochet to tidy up and my hook went through her finger. Was a small sized one for crocheting cotton. Meant a trip to A & E for Mum and Dad and I got the blame! If she had left it alone everything would have been all right!

No knitting or crafts for me, have been falling asleep pretty much each evening. Thought I had one more week to go 'working' but have two!

Pleased you're feeling a bit better today carolev. I fell asleep in the chair last night, woke up when my sister phoned from the UK. (She gets free phone calls as long as the call lasts no more than an hour, if it does she gets charged for the entire call, so we often have calls that last 55 or 57 minutes, then if we haven't finished talking we hang up and she calls again)

Only got to put the handles on my bag which has been in progress for 13 years or so, I am going to try to do them today. Have to find something suitable to use for the handles as I used the fabric I'd set aside for them to make Mr K a denim hat - didn't realise at the time what the fabric was for. Grrrrr!

Then it's back to knitting, and anything I do in the sewing room will be tidying up and sorting out to start with. It's such a muddle at the moment, everything is difficult (it's worse than usual) so I must have a crack at tidying it up. I'd love some shelves and Mr K has always intended to put some up for me, but I can't see that happening now. He was busy yesterday working out who he's going to have for his pall bearers - gets a bit depressing. Sometimes I find it hard to keep cheerful, but I can't let him get me down.

Morning everyone.
Super duper frost here this morning. The sun is streaming in the dining room. Only time I like the sun in there is the winter. Otherwise its too hot in the summer.
Im lucky Kuaka, neither MrP or I are having funerals so we don't have to chose pall bearers etc. MrP will be cremated and Ill take him to sea. Im going in with my father since I wont be able to go with MrP.

Im going to work on my bag today. Have to sew/crochet it together. Then Ill make a lining. And Im going to crochet two strips of chain in red and I have some white cord , then Ill plait the three. And have to decide whether to use a large white button or a toggle. Im thinking the toggle will look good.

Madam just took off with a knitting needle the little ratbag lol.... Ouchies re the injuries. I shouldn't but I use a metal nail file for my ears lol

Morning all
No frost here it's a bit too breezy but now sun out albeit rather weak, but a nice breeze so washing flapping away nicely and hopefully slippers are drying they can take up to a week to dry properly in winter.

New Sofa arriving today so can move back into lounge/dining area and light the fire again this evening as I have been "camping" in the bedroom as that is where the tv was while lounge getting sorted. Still have to get new curtains but not rushing with them as it takes me quite a while to decide so that I will really like them.

GMS craft needle injuries are not too uncommon I believe, a couple of years ago a stood on my sewing up needle which is a thickish tapestry needle and it went right through the ball of my big toe fortunately I had a friend here and she went to the garage for a pair of pliers and just pulled out for me, it was rather painful but we dabbed on a bit of antiseptic and all well. As she said I wouldn't have been able to put shoes on to go to A & E with it in there so just pull it out! Like shoes were a priority anyway lol.

Nearly finished first puerperium jacket and now hoping enough wool for the second one.

Morning everyone... Coro has gone off the rails really eh Carole. Id like to give that new Ryan a good kick up the jacksy. Hes the total opposite of the Ryan that went away.

Not as cold here as yesterday, no frost or fog.

Hoping to have a busy day here too. If I can keep MrP on the go this morning. Have to go to shop. Then come home and make a little change in the garage to fit the fridge against the wall. then we can sort other stuff out another day.
I have a heap of books in crates down there that I will never get around to reading. Cos I prefer the e-reader . So Ill give them to the bookfair that the Rotary runs annually. Not the Heidi ones tho Ill save them cos they are classics
I decided to add another row to my project, and I needed something to do while Coro was on. So did two more squares lol.

Morning ladies, well I finally finished that project that I started over a decade ago - pleased to have finished it but disappointed that I didn't take more care over it - mind you there were no instructions with it so I made mistakes along the way and learned by them. I do plan to make another one, and make a better job of it this time and not take so long! Photo later when I've recovered from stacking over a metre of tea tree firewood. Course it started to rain while I was doing that so by the time I'd finished I was soaked to the skin and have a sore back. So sitting in my dressing gown recovering with a cup of tea, then I will have breakfast, then have a shower, and then not a lot for the rest of the day. I'm knackered already. Didn't used to be so bad when there were two of us doing it!

I'm not sure whether it's cold here or not, I got too busy to notice while I was outside.

As for Coro - I think we'll find Ryan has had a personality change as he's on cocaine.

Woooaahh it was cold here this morning, we had a -5 frost! No knitting for me today as I'm finishing - yesss finishing!! my dragon! Started in 2007 and finishing 7 years later lol. OK, when I started it I was at uni and only managed around a couple of cms. Will be very pleased to see the back of it and daughter will be pleased to have it on her wall - a win-win for both of us.

Your bag looks good popeye! Feels good to have those older WIPs done and dusted doesn't it kuaka.

MrP came to the shop with me. Even came in.. Then when we got home I didn't give him time to sit down. I took him to the garage and started the change and tidy up down there. We put the dryer onto an old school desk, which got rid of the huge metal shelf we had it on. Along with junk.
Hes going to grind the top off it and it will just be a trolley on wheels. Then I moved the other stuff in the corner and put the fridge in its place.

I will wash that out tomorrow and he can start putting tools in it and tidy up. And I am now able to get closer to the books for the bookfair. So maybe Monday Ill get to them. So things are improving. We have one bag of rubbish, Ill get a sticker and that can go on Monday. Will be more but Im getting rid as soon as they fill. He cant go back into them that way.

Then I made him some mushrooms for lunch. So he is happy.

And so am I lol

Thanks Kiwimade used my bag this morning and it works well... Cant wait to see the Dragon finished..

Hello ladies :)
I think this morning out where I am it was -3!!! It was frosty foggy and cold.
I was a bit late in leaving for work this morning, as I had to wash my hair and then dry it. I cant go out with wet hair in the winter. Anyway I got to the end of my road and I could see something, but was unsure what it was and some guy had crashed his car in what I think was the power pole or ditch or something inbetween. I stopped and asked him if he was ok or wanted me to phone someone for him as the reception is dodgy out here. He said no as he was ok, and people were on their way. So off I drove to work, praying for him. Then on the way home, the wel networks people were doing something and had cordoned off bits of the road. If I had of been on time this morning, I would have been a witness to it all. I hope the guy is ok. I rung my hubby at morning tea to tell him and he had no idea as he had not gone out. So later on, will phone him and ask what he saw when he went out. He is having a boys night at the beach.
So tonight I can get a bit crochet done as a bit of peace and quiet without him......lol. Have done about 1/2 of his blanket.
May have a go at some knitting soon. Have seen a clown I want to knit.

Drum roll please!! Finally and at long last, here's a pic of the bag which has been in progress for 13 odd years (admittedly not in full time production) and like the workmanship, the photo isn't very good either but here it is:

Course it's supposed to have a zip across the centre but I didn't have one the right size and I couldn't wait to finish it. (Also couldn't really figure out how I was going to do it)

There was quite a lot of work in it as the entire thing is machine quilted, and there are 9 pockets which are also machine quilted. I plan to use it to cart my knitting with me when I go to knit and natter.

I could have finished my dragon yesterday but we had visitors again lol. OMG everytime I say to MrK 'today is THE day!' something happens lol. So today, after I have been into town to get the gas bottle filled, I am going to finish the damed thing! Am a little over halfway with the back stitching so not much more to do.

Morning ladies, yes it feels good to have finally finished the bag, but I'm not really happy with my efforts, in my rush to get it finished I wasn't careful enough so it's very rough - I will use it, but from my perspective, it's not up to standard. I always ask myself would I be able to sell it or if I was buying would I buy it and the answer is NO. So, although I'm pleased it's done, it's not good enough. The piece of fabric I used for the front pocket (which is hand quilted) my mum bought when I was about 5 or 6. Just proves that if you hang onto something long enough you will find a use for it.

kiwimade we have to change gas bottles for the hob today, it's a mission and I dread it. I have to climb a step ladder with the wretched bottle!

We had thunder and lightning yesterday afternoon and little puss was terrified and went and sat halfway down the stairs, and nothing would coax her back up.

As for your dragon kiwimade, I'm sure today will be the day. I recall doing a tapestry and saying to Mr K in about September that I would finish it that year. He said I hadn't a hope in hell, and I like a challenge so I sat at it at every opportunity. I finished it at 5 to midnight the night before we went away for our Christmas/New Year holiday. It's still one of my favourite achievements.

Love your bag Kuaka. We are often more critical on stuff we make for ourselves eh. Im not totally happy with how Ive attached the strap to my bag. But Ill live with it.

Ive booked a quiet day. I ended up washing the fridge and going through all my stuff in the shed. Was down there about 5 hours. But man was I sore last night lol... I didn't take an oxy tho. Creaky today but I haven't knitted for a few days so will do that.

Talking about deadlines on your work. I was knitting a cardy for me years ago and I decided I wanted it finished to take to the cliff Richard concert in the bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth. Its an open amphitheatre. I sat up till midnight the night before. Got it done. But it was a warm night and not needed lol

It's a cold wet stay inside day today, A wet Sunday was one of my favourites when I was working as I could just hide away and completely blob out.
Good one you Popeye getting the garage sorted - that's my next big job as that as I have done each room inside I have just moved the extra things out into the garage so now just about can't get the car in there. I know there will be quite a bit of stuff for the op shop out there as well as garbage.

Am finishing off a sleeveless vest for a nephew, started it ages ago but have never liked knitting it, not sure why as a straight forward pattern, anyway his mother messaged me that he needs another jersey so will finish this then knit him a proper jersey with sleeves.

Have only done My end of the shed jayemtoo.. His is still a bombsite. And the mood he is in today Im surprised he has anything left in there. I could quite easy get a skip and biff the lot.

Have sorted the rubbish out and that's ready to go to the roadside. And gone through my packaging stuff Ive been holding onto. Thast all sorted now too.
Finally finished Frostys hat and the snow for the top. Done two holly leaves and have the berrys to do and that's the hat all sorted. Still a lot to go but I haven't been feeling like knitting for the last couple of days.

Making dessert for tea. A Blackberry and apple sponge pudding which Ill organise shortly. Will have custard with it too.

Think I may of aggravated old injury a couple of weeks ago on back of borrowed motor bike and its progressively gotten worse. Work will not be pleased at all as we have so many staff off sick at the moment

Drizzly rain here at the moment, but it looks as though it might clear. WOF time for our old truck this morning, have it booked in at 10.30 - I always dread taking it but it's never failed - yet. I suppose the time will come, just hope it's not today. Mr K is fretting about getting another one and selling the old girl, saying he doesn't want me left with it when he goes. I got really annoyed yesterday and said I'm quite capable of buying and selling a vehicle (especially with help from my son) but it would make more sense if he was to sell the boat(s). That shut him up for a while.

No plans for today, I might have a bit of a tidy up when I get back from the WOF, and might even do the pile of ironing which stares at me all the time. Will check the mail - hoping my deramores order is here.

Take care of all the achy bits. I soo wish I could use volatren emugel. I must ask if Im allowed to use deep heat. The volatren and ibrufen interact with warfarin.
Id have done the same thing Kuaka. Telling MrK that your capable. I had to tell MrP off too. He gets into these moods where he believes that Im all for me, he gets nothing. So he got told of all I do for him and what he never does for me.
Im sure he thinks there is a fairy that does things in the house , cos he doesn't think its me.
And now he is worried about how we will pay for the fridge. I asked him would he rather live without one? cos his insulin has to be kept in the fridge. That shut him up lol... Moody men lol

Knitting is lovely Carole. well done.

Im going to the library today to photocopy some patterns from the couple of crochet books I got last time. So will do that and see what other crochet books they have.

sunflowers, I'm happy to help, but which blanket pattern were you referring to? I've done one using the "Bavarian crochet" pattern (it's available as a free download on ravelry under the name "wool eater blanket" or I've done the "mile a minute" one (also free on ravelry) which is done in strips of colour with white all round the strips then joined together, and it ends up with two scalloped sides.

Let me know if it's either of these, and I can upload a pic - as you say, looking back through this thread will take you forever and if it's more than two months since I put it on here it probably is no longer available.

Well the old girl got her WOF - he said she could do with a new wiper blade on the drivers side. We were going to replace them both, just hadn't got around to it. Anyway he didn't fail it on that, but said we should do it before too long.

It was 'mile a minute' pattern I . have since looked both up on Ravelery and forward the patterns to her..She has the last couple outside rows of 4 large squares worked in rainbow colours to complete. The Furry and Fluffy Ones are racing round madly, the rubbish man has just been, then to add to the excitement our nieghbours rubbish man arrived as well. Two 'terrors' in doggy heaven lol.
