I couldn't face sewing up the ears and attaching them last night so did wee 4ply jerseys for 2 lambs and a bunny I had in storage. Today I have errands to run but then I have to tackle those ears. No family today so lots of time for avoidance. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-04-13 09:07:00
The show was great. Miss M and K just loved it. Although they must have driven their uncle mad asking him everything lol. Got home late and K is overexcited but very tired. J stayed at home with his dad because he spent last night throwing up. Daughter is working again tomorrow so I will be up at 5 to drive up here. Ah we'll no rest for the wicked ha ha makerealbany - 2013-04-13 20:02:00
Went with K to the Warehouse at Silverdale and got some fantastic specials. Got little E summer dress for her next birthday. Bought heaps of sox for my grandsons. Cat and dog food and not one thing for myself lol. Mind you I did spoil myself with the shoes the other day. Got some crocheting done on my rug last night. It is bulky knit and I have a huge crochet needle . My thumb is healing at last so I will be able to knit soon. Everyone wants beanies. I think the gremlins eat them after winter ha ha. K and I just finished baking Vanilla cupcakes and gingerbread men to fill 4 cake tins for his mum or so he says. He is coming home with me for the night as mum is off to work again tomorrow and he is off to preschool with little J anyway. School holidays are coming so we will be busy in the second week. All 3 are going to the Holiday programme for the first week. Have to plan a couple of outings for then. makerealbany - 2013-04-14 14:25:00

Oh that is cool grizzly. Lousy weather up here but great rain. Spent the day running lol. Will do some more of my rug when I get back home tonight. My daughter now has a few days off after 8 tonight thank heavens ha ha. Left my glasses at home so excuse any bloopers ha ha. Grand daughter told me when I arrived up here this arvo that her chest of drawers just fell over. I asked her why and she sheepishly said ! Maybe it was because I had the drawers open and stuff hanging out. Too much weight in the wrong place" I grinned at her and told her that is a good reason to clean out her drawers and keep it tidy in future. She agreed. I nearly fell over with shock lol makerealbany - 2013-04-15 17:51:00
More horrible things happening overseas again, I see on the news this morning. No-one can really be safe can they? Can't say I felt great driving home in the dark last night either, I stuck to roads that were brightly lit with quite a bit of traffic - funnily enough those roads I wouldn't dream of using during the day because of the amount of traffic. One late night down 2 to go, tonight's will be the latest as this meeting includes dinner. Sigh. grizzly4 - 2013-04-16 07:30:00
Yes it was pretty scary driving home last night. The back road was covered in Pine needles and because the road is so uneven in places there was water everywhere. I just took it slowly. Crocheted some more of my rug last night. Trying to find time to do the quilt for K only 3 weeks until his birthday but I have been so busy during the day and that is when I need to sew. Sigh. At lest you will be fed tonight grizzly ha ha. makerealbany - 2013-04-16 14:15:00
Yep and it was a lovely meal. We tried a new place to have our meeting and to eat. Trouble was it was their quiz night and they were only serving nibbles and gourmet pizzas. It was like being on that tv programme 'Nothing Trivial'. LOL. I had a salmon pizza and it was wonderful. Got home about 8.30 so still had time for another prem bootees before bed. grizzly4 - 2013-04-17 07:36:00
I am very partial to Salmond Pizza myself grizzly ho ho. Finished crocheting my green rug. Was over run by ants in one cupboard today so had to clean that out. I detest ants grrrr. One of my grandchildren must have put a jar of jam back without wiping the rim. I have to watch everything lol. makerealbany - 2013-04-17 15:25:00
It seems like it's a full time job keeping on top of the ants. Wasn't feeling very good last night so no knitting done. A waste of my only evening at home this week. Did get a phone call to say the onesie sold at the shop. LOL - looks like I will have to another. grizzly4 - 2013-04-18 07:05:00
You will have to make another one lol not feeling so great myself tonight. Hope you are better today grizzly makerealbany - 2013-04-18 22:07:00
I was fine in the morning thank goodness and I have survived 3 late nights this week, I am so pleased the week is nearly over. I hope you are feeling better by today as well. grizzly4 - 2013-04-19 07:23:00
It's pouring here! I hope this rain is reaching the farms that need it. grizzly4 - 2013-04-20 09:47:00
Yes it has been pouring here than it stops and after awhile starts again. Things are turning green again. I knitted the back of another 12 ply jacket last night once K was asleep. Will get some of the front done tonight. Took the kids with my Sil to the reserve up the road and I feel really worn out now ha ha. Back still very cranky lol. makerealbany - 2013-04-20 19:53:00
I made food for the party yesterday I haven't made for years! Remember the cheese ball that was popular in the '80's and the club sandwiches made in the Tupperware ring mould. What a blast from the past and just as popular on the table as back then. Great fun! Today's project is to finish a pair of baby sox and do a pair of bootees for the shop after I go to Lincraft to buy more Snowflake type wool for more onesies. grizzly4 - 2013-04-21 10:02:00
I do remember and I.still love cheese balls. I am on the sleeves now. Had a visiting day today to fill out applications fir education grants for my grandson. When we were checking my land details we realized his Mum inherited shares from her dad and we own some blocks together lol so that is really cool. My grandson will eventually have land from his grandfather and his nana. I will never sell any of my Maori land and I am about to put it in a Whanau trust. That way my future grandchildren and great grandchildren will always be able to get a good education. Right off to knit ho ho makerealbany - 2013-04-21 20:39:00
That is very cool, makerealbany, good for you. Is your land still in its natural state or being used currently, or maybe a great holiday place for your family? I worked on small things over the weekend and have a wee stash to take into the shop this morning. I have to do the registrations for the holiday programme at work first so have to leave very soon. Early starts everyday for 2 weeks. grizzly4 - 2013-04-22 07:04:00
I've started another hoody vest but have an order for a beret by Monday for the shop and baby socks ordered on TM, not to mention the onesies to do. I wonder how my boss will feel If I say I don't have time to come to work this week. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-04-23 07:03:00
Most of my land is leased out. MY sil has fixed the internet so he can get on and I cannot so my daughter will sort it out when she has the time. Ido not know what the hell he does but it drives me nuts. I would rather get my own connection then all this palaver. I can access from my phone and i have just sorted the house computer so I can use that. My daughter had it all set up for me and in I went but he changed the settings and wham. ah well that is the male ego knowing best not lol. I wonder how your boss will feel as well grizzly ha ha. makerealbany - 2013-04-23 14:26:00
I actually did tell her over lunch and we had a bit of a laugh then she asked me seriously if I needed some time off!!!! She is the one who mucked up my leave in the first place. Oh well. I shall continue to plod along at least a I got my accounts and GST sorted today which is a blessing. I am going with the holiday programme to Willowbank tomorrow so L5 and I can enjoy the animals together. grizzly4 - 2013-04-23 16:52:00
My brilliant daughter has fixed the problem. Took her 2 mins whoop whoop,,,,. Just got back from tea at my youngest son's. I had to stop at the cash flow machine to get cash out and it was well lit up so I did it very quickly lol then I had to drive around the back of the library near the park to return books through the night slot. I took the bag I keep my dogs leash and water bowl in with me. Just in case ha ha. It is well lit near the library but the park side is spooky at night. I will have two grandchildren tomorrow so needed to do those things tonight. Tomorrow I am not driving anywhere. Hurrah. Nearly finished the sleeves of the jacket. I like getting near the end but then I have to sew it up. makerealbany - 2013-04-23 22:28:00
Yep, the dreaded sewing up! LOL. I have the back and fronts done of the vest, working on the first front band. My friend's Mum was mugged on Monday afternoon. She was on her way back to her Council flat in Pukekohe, he wrenched her arm and wrist trying to get her bag. He threw the bag after grabbing her wallet so at least she had her keys and there was only $5 for his trouble. Poor thing is now in hospital as they can't get her angina under control since the attack. grizzly4 - 2013-04-24 07:12:00
Rotten swine. The poor dear. It seems to be happening more and more these days. My Mum got upset because her power went off about 1 in the morning. There must have been a surge and the overload switch came on. Poor Mum doesn't understand it. She thought someone had turned her power off. She could not turn her torch on so she sat in the dark. She has a fear of candles as a cousin was burnt to death because she left candles burning. That happened over 30 years ago. My cousins live next door and across the the road but Mum is unsteady at night. My poor cousins were upset they have tried to get her to ring a bell but she won't. She has her emergency alarm for medical. It's sad when they get older and are still so independent and stubborn lol found another lovely pattern for little E for a cardi. makerealbany - 2013-04-24 11:07:00
My friend's Mum has had a heart attack so my friend is going up tomorrow. Her brother's are up there but not too great at empathy and support. Typically Irish males!! LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-04-24 18:54:00
Yes it was a mild morning. I didn't go to the Dawn Parade this morning. Had to be up here by 6 and there wasn't enough time. Sigh. Lots of family made it all over the country and in Aussie. Facebook is a wonderful tool at times ha ha. You will be aching tomorrow grizzly all that walking. Lol. I will be happy to lay my head on my pillow tonight. Absolutely no energy today. makerealbany - 2013-04-25 16:56:00
It was the warmest Anzac Day I remember for many years. Lovely to potter in the garden, catch up on housework that was so far behind because of my early starts this week. Just have to sew the vest up and find buttons (always an ongoing problem no matter how many I have stashed) and about 12 rows to go on the beret. Very productive day yesterday but it's back to work today. grizzly4 - 2013-04-26 06:55:00
Brrrrr! these mornings are chilly but not too bad if the day warms up. Here's hoping 'cos beret and vest are finished, time for some gardening with B4's help. grizzly4 - 2013-04-27 09:13:00
Went to the GP yesterday got my flu shot and my prescription for this and that. Also went and got a better back brace just until I get through this lousy patch. Felt like a stuffed chicken today wearing the horrid thing but I notice it when I take it off sigh. Ah well. Weather raining and then stopping. No darn good for washing. Finished the jacket but it will fit him next year. Another reason to get my eyes checked again ha ha Baked two Carrot cakes today to the delight of everyone. Had to send my Sil down to the shop to buy whole meal flour. First time I have run out of anything but it is a sign of the times lol. makerealbany - 2013-04-27 18:46:00
Family day yesterday. B4 and L5 enjoyed their day together and as usual the adults spent the day in the armchairs except for I. who was in his man cave working on the bikes. I got a pair of prem bootees finished during the afternoon and a beanie in the evening. Another lovely day here again thank goodness. I aim to clear all the bean plants off the trellis today. grizzly4 - 2013-04-28 09:26:00
So much for the bean plants LOL but did trim the roses under the lounge window and have done the back of a blue onesie. A bit of a weird day really energy wise. Back to early starts again this week and the shop as well this morning. I'm picking up a young co-worker all week so having to deal with road detours etc again. Better leave even earlier. grizzly4 - 2013-04-29 06:53:00
The sun is shining. Great for the washing. Little K vomited all night and I went thru pjs and linen flat out. His temp is up and down. Poor wee fellow. I was awake all night with him. He has stopped vomiting but still not well. Consequently no knitting last night lol. My daughter worked the night shift so I will let her sleep before I take him home. Free days tomorrow and Wed yippee makerealbany - 2013-04-29 11:10:00
Yuck, yuck, yuck. Not great timing being at your house! I don't miss that part of having kids. We get to change the shop around on Saturday again. EQC is about to finish the larger part of the shop and we can reclaim that to trade from and let them work on the front part. I'll be glad when it's all finished, frankly, although it's great not having to pay rent, eh, Sue? I'm nearly finished the fronts of the onesie. grizzly4 - 2013-04-30 06:57:00
Yes it is great not having to pay rent. K's mummy is home today. Phew ha ha. Her In laws have hired a Barrister and they are still trying to control her life. My God these people are so grasping. Under Matrimonial Law and the Family Protection Act he had no right to put Matrimonial assets in his parents family trust without her consent. She is not even a beneficiary of the trust and neither is her son. Anyway she has waited over a year and the court case will finally be heard soon. The stress she has had to endure because her late husband was an idiot . I intend to sew today and no one or anything is going to stop me lol. Have a nice day. makerealbany - 2013-04-30 09:39:00
Enjoy your sewing! Sleeves and half the hood done on the onesie. I'm on a roll. grizzly4 - 2013-05-01 07:13:00
Only got 3 hours sewing done lol. We are all in birthday mode for little K but he is not well so we are having it Saturday. Only waited 10 mins for my tests today yippee. Still not working on all cylinders lol. makerealbany - 2013-05-01 16:57:00
That's not good, makerealbany! I'm struggling, myself, with headaches that start up the back of my neck. No amount of Neurofen will fix it either. After having 2-3 migraines a week from the age of 12 to 44 It was such a relief when they stopped with menopause. Not happy with these ones, I hope it's just stress. Onesie is all knitted and a few pieces are sewn up, but we all know how much I love this process. NOT! grizzly4 - 2013-05-02 07:09:00
Still avoided it, LOL. Knitted bootees last night instead. The little Supervalue supermarket by work that I go to if I need anything for the programmes closed yesterday so it could reopen on Saturday as New World. Will be a huge improvement but didn't help me yesterday when I needed a few groceries for the baking activity. I was on my way to a New World which was much further than the Countdown at Eastgate Mall. I had to stop and seriously think about my avoidance stuff around that Mall since February 2011. I was actually heading for a building on a site where every building had to be demolished rather than go to an Eastgate store. You should have heard the debate going on in my head but I eventually got myself into Countdown. It was the fastest trip ever round the aisles I have to say and I have no idea if I passed anyone I knew. I was shaking by the time I got back to the car but at least I did it, I guess. grizzly4 - 2013-05-03 07:07:00
Good for you grizzly you brave girl. I spent yesterday and last night sewing. Quilting takes a lot of time but it is looking good. Hope you feel better today. I am just coasting along because I will be busy again next week. Thank heavens my daughter had the week off. We are off to Rainbows End tomorrow for K's Birthday Party so that will be tiring. Might find a spot and hide lol. I am going to baste up more of the quilt tonight but forgot to buy more quilting sewing needles for my machine. makerealbany - 2013-05-03 16:48:00
Quilting is something I have never tried. Would like to but it always comes down to time, doesn't it. I was sent home from work yesterday by 2pm, just overdid it I think. Today we are moving the shop to the back half so the front can be done by EQC. Then I guess I will be making tea for family when I get home. grizzly4 - 2013-05-04 08:16:00
Absolutely exhausted by the time I got home from shop yesterday about 3pm. It took a lot longer moving back to larger half because all the fittings needed to be reattached to the walls and then a new lock for the door to be installed. Phew, hard work but everyone worked really hard, eh, Sue? and lots of credit to the 2 husbands with us. Hopefully the next time ( in a couple of weeks) when we reclaim front half will be the last for quite sometime. I am starting to wonder what normal feels like. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-05-05 12:24:00
You need a normal week or month grizzly. You are like me wearing yourself out. Had a great day for K's birthday yesterday. The kids loved the rides even though it was pouring outside. Thank heavens it is all covered. I had to drive at 50 on the motorway be ause it was pouring. Everyone else was driving slowly except for the dopes in the fast lane. Spent the night crocheting another shawl. Just about finished it and tomorrow night when I am not babysitting. I will be able to sew. Ho ho makerealbany - 2013-05-05 15:47:00
Sounds like a great place to be in the rain. It is pouring here this morning. I. has gone to work but I think he will be sent home soon, no point in sucking out trenches when it's raining. LOL. Luckily they get paid 8 hours anyway if sent home in bad weather. He's already wet before he even gets there after cleaning out the dirt box 'cos it was too wet for the girls to go out and getting my coat for me from the back seat of my car. Yep he's too good to be true (sometimes). I finished the onesie without any sewing up dramas yesterday and I have started a matinee jacket pattern I bought off Tm last week. Trouble is it's a Panda 4ply pattern and has unfortunately knitted up in a prem size in merino 4ply. Sigh, a lot of work in the lacy pattern for a prem size. Pretty though. Working in the shop this morning and new co-worker starts today at work. 4th person in this role in 2 years. It's hard when our 2 roles share the same office. grizzly4 - 2013-05-06 06:55:00
I'll bet it is. I never liked sharing an office either. Pouring here still. I have wet 3 coats today. Went down for another lab test and now I have To go on a restricted diet and no medication for 10 days. I detest these tests. By the time the 10 days is up I am worn out lol. Last time I did this was over a year ago. Sil is home today so it's an easy day for me. Cutting out some hexagons for another quilt even though I still need to finish the other ha ha. Went to the library and got some excellent quilting books on my way home today. It is all very well getting Ebooks but I like to have the real books for craft projects lol makerealbany - 2013-05-06 14:49:00
I absolutely agree with your preference for books! It was so cold in the shop yesterday as we can't shut the door properly as the customers can't get in then. LOL But the southerly kept blowing it open. For the first time I really want the work finished!!!! I am currently working on a matinee jacket with a difficult lacy pattern. Seems to be taking ages despite only turning out a prem size. A bit disappointing really. The back and both fronts are done. grizzly4 - 2013-05-07 07:04:00
Yippee sunshine. I was up at 5 as A had to leave fora breakfast meeting at 6.30 Had to drop off M at school then drive all the way to preschool for J. Traffic was horrendous for M. Never mind we made it lol. In time for both of them. I just ordered a quilting book from Fishpond naughty girl. But we have to take our pleasure where we can ha ha. I have the washing out and am getting ready toleave to pick up J. Morning gone before you know it. I can imagine how pleased you will be when the shop is finished grizzly. Won't be long now I hope. I still haven't been to spotlight together my quilting needles for the machine. Going tomorrow. Sorted out a pile of materials for different quilts last night . makerealbany - 2013-05-07 11:33:00
Brrrrr it's cold this morning! It's hard this time of year knowing what to wear. I've decided I don't have enough warm layers now I have to find the money and the time to find where to buy them. LOL. grizzly4 - 2013-05-08 07:21:00
Gosh some people are hard to deal with on TM. I have an ongoing auction for baby sox offering the choice of having them knitted to order in the preferred colour. A pair sold 3 weeks ago after the trader had previously contacted me asking if a could multiple pairs, They did Buy Now, then paid for one pair. For 3 weeks I have been trying to get a response to emails requesting colour choice and their address. They sent through their address after 2 weeks but still have no idea what to knit! My last email said if I didn't hear by the end of this week I would just send them a white pair, what else can I do? grizzly4 - 2013-05-09 07:13:00
Nothing else grizzly grrrrrrr. A girl crashed into a power pole on makerealbany - 2013-05-09 13:10:00
That's a bit tough, makerealbany. Nothing like comfort food when the weather is miserable. I made a cottage pie yesterday morning before going to work so just had to heat it last night when we got in. So easy, thank goodness. I found a jersey in Postie yesterday I liked so today I feel very cosy despite our high being 11 degrees. grizzly4 - 2013-05-10 07:09:00
11degrees brrrrrrr. Warmer than that here. Had a great afternoon after a hellish morning. It was Dad,s day at the preschool so Nana had to run from one side to the other to fill in. Exhausting lol. I am going home to a night by myself to knit ha ha. Mum is in hospital for a few days and is kicking up to go home already sigh. Salad for tea. How thrilling not lol. makerealbany - 2013-05-10 16:22:00
