3rd beanie done and now working on B4's mitts. My goal this wek is to get them finished plus the blanket finished and I have 2 picture frames ready to start as well. Here's hoping they will be organised for shop on Monday. Mind you I have a late meeting tonight and L5 is staying over SAturday night so we'll see.
Hey Suzy the bridal shelf is screaming out for horseshoes and garters!

I was supposedly going to dinner tonight but I am taking a rain check lol. I am not in the mood. Little. J. is much better today and tomorrow is the day I have him anyway so he will be off to preschool on Thursday yippee. My Sil starts a new job tomorrow thank heavens. Lol. I need to get cracking on that jacket so no one had better want anything done tonight grrrrrrr lol.

Ah well a mate of my kids is over at Orewa from Aussie. He was my late Sil,s best mate so my kids have just gone up for a cuppa tea, yeah really they are working tomorrow. Anyway they put the littles to sleep so I am babysitting again lol. I don't mind on this occasion.. I had a nana nap for an hour ha ha and feel much better. Not so cranky ha ha.

Yay wheelbarrow day at the Women's group today. I have been waiting to be able to make these up since last year when I found them on TM. I must remember to take a photo to show the TM member who made the kitsets for me. Didn't get much knitting done myself last night due to a late meeting and having to make my tea at 8.30pm. I feel a bit knackered this morning. Tomorrow I will be able to start work a little later so hopefully will get my skirt cut out. Yep I will get my summer skirt done in time for winter! LOL.

B4's gloves are finished so all the boys have sets ready for Easter. Yahoo! But not sure how much sewing I'll get done this morning now as I have fabric to list on TM for the shop. And we all know how long that takes but more so as I have to unfold and measure each piece! Groan....

Thought I would have time to baste more of the quilt while J was at preschool but I got carried away weeding. Later tossed some weeds down the bank and they must have hit a wasps nest. They came out all Argo I ran inside and shut the door but several were on my head stinging the hell out of me. I grabbed the shower hose and put it on my head full bore. Some of them fell into the bath but a couple were tangled in my hair still stinging. I grabbed a face flannel and ripped them out. Threw that in the bin with a good dose of fly spray then I tipped a bottle of vinegar over my head. Got some antihistamine off my neighbour. That was 2 hours ago and still painful. I had to go and pick bubs up reeking of vinegar. Just put some more on. I have to go and pick M up later from her posh private school so I will get some looks. Lol I would rather stink of vinegar than have a throbbing head. Darn fool I am.

OMG that sounded awfull, i wouldn't have known what to do, good thinking on your part with the shower and vinigar. Hope you start to feel better soon.

I reckon! That sounds a dreadful experience, you sounded very calm and collected. Well done! And fancy carrying on as normal. Most impressive. You're on the computer early this evening, suzy, thought you work till 6. I now have 44 auctions, half a dozen for my knitting the rest for the shop. I want to wake up in the morning and find them all sold. What are the chances? Hope you fel better in the morning, makerealbany.

Full day ahead again today, the wheelbarrows didn't quite get finished on Wednesday so some of the women are coming back this morning to stencil their design on the sides, others are coming back next Tuesday. They didn't want to change the planned activity next Wednesday so I need to open up the hall for extra time. Can't fault their commitment, eh?
How are this morning, makerealbany?

grizzly4 - 2013-03-15 07:14:00
5260

I have to say that there are some extremely helpful people on TM. The guy who made the wheelbarrows for me is looking into helping me out with pencil holders our children at work can put together. Yep all 55 of them. Just waiting to hear the price. And another is helping me out by organising clock mechanisms for the Women's group activity next term. Once again now it's down to the price. It's such a bugger that I have great ideas they have the skills but always comes down to money when working for a not for profit organisation.

Very true grizzly lol. Feeling a lot better today. Raced off at 8.30 to take J on his Preschool bus trip to a Butterfly farm. My daughter was there also with K. The boys had a ball. Loved the bus ride and the butterflies. We have lots of Monarchs at home so they knew what to expect. Still got that darn wasp nest to get rid of. Sil is working on a plan that does not involve him getting stung lol. Neighbours have some nests too. On the farm once Years ago I hit a wasps nest when I was using the fergie to pull out some tree stumps. I had overalls on and a cap, also had thick gloves plus my gummies so I had a bit of a shock then, the buggers got me on the face. So I am wary just didn't shut the ranch slider quick enough. They got in about a 2 inch gap ho ho.

5262

Hi Suzy, used to dealing with incidents must be the farm girl in me ha ha.

makerealbany - 2013-03-15 20:31:00
5263

Knowing those nests are close by sounds like a horror movie! I am working on the crochet blanket at present and have given myself a stiff neck! Presumably the difference in knitting to crochet. Hopefully I can get finish it this weekend. It's mindless craft really and a great way to use up left over wool.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-16 07:18:00
5264

It is a horror alright grizzly. I love crocheting and it is easier than knitting. No effort required lol but I get a stiff neck too. I am working on 3 quilts. Crazy dame that I am. Went to spotlight for more specials today and decided to treat myself to new scissors, pinking shears and an unpicker. I had a 20 percent voucher so was happy. Got some great quilting material on special and for every metre I purchased I got one free. I am looking after little E while my son puts up new shelves in the garage. S has gone to the beach with her girlfriends for the weekend and my son is looking after her lol. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my Sil's death and his friends are popping up to my girls. They have a barbi planned for tonight and they are all determined to stay with her. She has 2 lots from Aussie as well. We are all going up later. I am feeling very jaded and may not make it. I will feel better after a nights sleep. Maybe I will just toddle up tomorrow. Still got my groceries to do yet sigh. Hate grocery shopping no fun at all. Lol

5265

That year has gone mighty fast! Although not for family so much, I guess. Nice of his friends to think of his family.
Still no sewing done. LOL. But the blanket is finished and just about finished a wee dolls dress - don't know where thatidea came from, certainly wasm't on the list of things to do. L5 was supposed to stay the night but found him crying in bed about 9pm wanting his fine. That's the first time thats happened but his MUm and Dad were good about coming back to get him despite being out with friends. Both he and his brother will be back to stay on Wednesday night

grizzly4 - 2013-03-17 09:46:00
5266

Oops. I meant wanting his Mum. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-17 09:46:00
5267

Dolls clothes finished and I have started a wee aran cardy now. Made marmalade but as predicted came out quite a runny batch. Happens every second time I make it! LOL. No grapefruit in this one but still very yummy.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-18 07:18:00
5268

You are definitely up on me in the craft making grizzly. I have had another hectic day and my Sil is away until Friday. Yesterday was just as bad but everyone back overseas now. Having said that my Sil's Dad and two brothers are up for the weekend fron down south and Wellington. I will lock myself away lol. Received another parcel from the quilt girl in Melbourne really fast delivery and much cheaper than some places here for postage. Go figure . Ha ha

makerealbany - 2013-03-18 17:05:00
5269

Another day of wind. Great for the washing. Did 12 hours today and now I have some ironing to do. Limiting it to 30 minutes as I have more of K's quilt to baste. Preparation takes so long sigh. Lol. Want to knit a beanie for C so I have to stick to my timetable. Weeds need attending to, lawns need mowing but they can wait until Sil gets back. I am getting wise in my old age ha ha.

makerealbany - 2013-03-19 19:03:00
5270

Good for you! I don't think I'm learning at all. Allowed everything to get on top of me yesterday after thinking it was under control. I. had a doctor's appointment yesterday and he has been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon because of the damage this job has done to his elbows! Trouble is apparently ACC will not cover this anymore even though he had nothing wrong with his elbows before starting this job 12 months ago. We have hospital insurance but he has no sick leave and only a weeks annual leave. My next life better be easier.

I.'s birthday today and B8 and L5 stayed overnight. Typical parents didn't arrive with their pj's till nearly 8pm despite me bringing them home with me and them finishing work at 5. The boys were high as kites by then and didn't go to sleep till after 9. I was pretty stressed by then I have to say.
I only have 4 balls of the wool I'm using for wee aran cardy so it better be enough as it is a rather old brand I think. Back, fronts and bands done with just sleeves to do. Fingers crossed!

grizzly4 - 2013-03-21 07:07:00
5272

Some parents can be idiots at times grizzly. You should make it a rule no babysitting at nights during the week because you work. That is so unfair and then not to be organised and have bags for them grrrrr. Well my Sil cannot get home and his father and two brothers are arriving tonight. They have to get a cab from the airport which will cost about 100 but my back is killing me and what with the kids and A working they can just cope. Ha ha. Tomorrow they can cook and fend for themselves because A is off early and won't be home until late so I will have the 2 kids in the cottage and sort them out. My Sil always organises things without engaging his darn brain first. I feel darn stressed myself at the moment. Takes a lot to get me going but this week is dynamite. Anyway time to go and pick J up he finishes at 12 when he gets less tired we will leave him there longer. He loves preschool but is always keen to come home lol

makerealbany - 2013-03-21 11:38:00
5273

There must be something in the air this week. Everyday there seems to some upset! If not the shop, it's at work or family stuff. Had two days of dreadful headaches that I put down to stress but maybe it's 'flu as well as my ears aren't hearing right today. Everything sounds like I'm in a plastic bucket...LOL. Day off work tomorrow to work the stall at Barrington Mall again for the shop, one day I should take a day off and have a day off. Saturday we are stripping down half the shop to squeeze everything into the front half so EQC can start work after Easter. Family are expecting me to come up with some magic idea on Saturday night to celebrate I's birthday today. I have no idea what to suggest to fit their vastly different budgets and I have no idea how tired we are goinmg to be after the shop stuff anyway. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-21 19:14:00
5274

I am really looking forward to the stall today. Here's to lots of sales and a few laughs with the people I am working with and no dramas or whinging.

Hope the day went ok grizzly. I am at my son's. My eldest daughter came down from the beach and little E would not leave her Aunty alone so my girl fed, bathed and put her to bed. Lucky me. Ho ho Master 9 is playing a game and all is peaceful. What bliss

makerealbany - 2013-03-23 19:31:00
5276

Shop all sorted except a few bits to do on Monday. We were all happy with how it went I think but I'm sure there will be complaints from someone. We took the wee quad bike to the park to play with the boys yesterday afternoon. Such fun!

grizzly4 - 2013-03-24 10:09:00
5277

I finished the wee aran cardy and have started a set that sold on TM. I have 3 picture frames ready to do but so little room in shop for the next few weeks not sure it's worth doing yet. I gave the boys their beanies and gloves and got a great response thank goodness. A short week ahead but so much to do, I don't know how I'm going to fit it in. I's appointment with the surgeon is 29 April and I feel like it's hanging over my head as well. I'm looking forward to seeing Mum and Dad this weekend and we are taking B8 up to Blenheim with us so he can spend Easter with his paternal grandmother. (His birth father's Mum has returned from living in Australia for the last 5 years. They were very close before that and she was able to control things a bit with his father.) You know that 2 degrees of separation stuff they talk about? B8's grandmother is the sister of I's brother's partner! Do you follow that? LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-25 07:08:00
5278

Off to buy chocolate goodies for the Women's Group tomorrow. They are decorating an Easter cake each to take home for their families. I. has a nasty cold as usual before going to Mum and Dad's. I hope he shakes it before we leave on Friday. And it looks as if I'll be babysitting B4 this evening on my own while his parents go meet the principal of the school he starts at in June. At least it won't be late home. I have finished the beanie and socks of the set, working on the bootees.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-26 07:35:00
5279

Well Sil was off again this morning until Thursday night. Miss 1 woke me at 3.30 on Sunday morning and wanted to play. Lol My Sil was home yesterday and so was my very tired daughter. Had heaps of washing after the three guys went home so I had a very quiet day yesterday. I managed to finish a jacket and baste the last lot for a quilt. I also cut out some patterns uninterupted yah. Took little J to preschool, raced home did the housework, washing and am now relaxing before I go to get J. Got the weeds sprayer to work so will do a bit at a time as Sil ignored the weeds. Sigh.

makerealbany - 2013-03-26 11:21:00
5280

My poor garden is suffering from my lack of time. I have an extra day off after Easter, once I get back from Blenheim, so hopefully can do some then. I. is still sick so worried about whether we will get away at all.

grizzly4 - 2013-03-27 07:23:00

I use Patchouli essential oil instead of perfume and have done for years. It got to the point where there was only the one shop in Riccarton Mall that sold it and I have been asking my daughter who works over that way to get me a bottle since last October but she always forgets. Knowing how stressful it has been for me the last couple of weeks I. decided to surprise with some yesterday only to find that shop has gone now too. When he rang me at work I decided to check out TM and find the same size bottle available in Auckland. Even with postage it was still cheaper than what I have been paying here so hit Buy Now. Only to find I. had had the same inspiration and found some in CHristchurch and went to pick it up straight away. I will have enough to last years now LOL. BUt it was a lovely thought and gave us a good laugh. Looks like I'll be kniting over my weekend in Blenheim as I have more orders for beanies, bootees and sox for TM. NIce and relaxing. I have also bought a pattern for an all-in-one knitted in Snowflake which I thought I would try for a change if I can find the wool required for a reasonable price.

Just back from Rotorua. My Aunts funeral was Saturday. A sad but lovely time as Aunty was fare welled . So nice to catch up with other branches of our family. My Aunts side of the family are Catholic and we are Anglicans so the different church services don't faze us at all as we are always in each others church's for Weddings, baptisms, christenings and funerals. The only difference for us is we don't do Holy Communion in the Catholic Church and vice versa. My sisters and I had a lovely night. Driving home on Sunday Mum rang to tell me that my other Aunt who called the Karanga at my other Aunt's Tangi had a heart Attack on Sunday morning and is in a coma. So we are all waiting and praying. She is 85 and still very active.

makerealbany - 2013-04-01 15:32:00
5283

That's a bit hard on you all after just saying goodbye to another family member. I was really pleased to see my Mum doing so well this visit, Dad's condition just stasys the same unfortunately. I had a great time and I. thoroughly enjoyed the Airshow. Mum, Dad and I watched the planes from the comfort of their lounge LOL as their villa is not far from the Airfield. It was cool, comfortable and had coffee on tap. LOL. We took B8 up with us to see his other grandmother only to find when we picked him up to bring him home they hadn't done anything with him except watch tv!!! He had only taken his ipod with him so he said he just listened to his music. I was so disappointed for him so tried to make the travelling as interesting for him as possible. Why bother requesting a visit from him if you aren't going to make it special for him. That family is such a waste of time. I got 3 knitting orders finished over tyhe weekend so my time was well spent. LOL. and I have the day off today as schools are closed. Mind you I have a rotten cold exactly 3 days after my 'flu shot just like I.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-02 08:02:00
5284

Oh your poor grandson. Lousy beggars. Took two of my grandchildren out and then swapped Ms as she had to go and get her check up after her surgery. So had lunch with the boys and played in the playground afterwards. Then my daughter picked up little J. K and I came home unloaded everything including his new duvet for the new bed I bought him and we both collapsed in a heap. Lol. I need a cuppa then I have to cook his tea and bath him. After that I will take him back to the beach and put him to bed. No news yet although it is just a matter of time. When the kids and I went to the warehouse today they had trillions of Easter eggs. My grandchildren just looked but showed no interest ha ha. They are over eggs now good tee here. Mind you they have so many older cousins, siblings and aunties and uncles who buy them eggs it is no wonder. It is nice that you had a good visit grizzly. You come home feeling happy instead of worrying about them aye. I have good and not so good visits with Mum.

makerealbany - 2013-04-02 16:27:00
5285

Yes, leaving them this time felt a lot better than the l;ast couple of visits. I bought a pattern on TM last week for an all-in-one done in Sirdar Snowflake. But now I can't find any sold anywhere! I Bought something I thought would be the same from the Warehouse but definitely not! This is much thicker and as there are no patterns available for it will have to use it in a blanket and of course will have to buy more to finish it!! LOL. The Snowflake is called Chunky but really its a 10ply. I hop-e I find some soon as I would really like to try this pattern.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-03 07:24:00
5286

I can't even remember seeing Sirdar Snowflake. Mind you there are so many wools out there. I have another little cardi to do for my grand daughter. I am sure we gave her all of the ones I knitted for M but she is only wearing the one I did for her birthday and her Mum says that's the only knitted one she has. I bet they are still packed. I will ring her Mum tonight. Ridiculous really. I know there are a pile of boxes A gave her that are still in the garage.

Keiths Neice has been in Chch womans Hospital for two weeks, her water broke at 25 weeks. Her baby boy was born yesterday at 27weeks, his name is Luca and he is 810grams. I can't imagine a baby that tiny, still waiting to find out how his tests turned out, they say he is like a doll. If things go ok may pop up and see her and bubs on Saturday. She may have moved to Ronald McDonald house by then though. First baby too :(

suzy59nz - 2013-04-03 19:06:00
5288

810gms! My gosh that's little. Your family must be really concerned for them, I hope things do go well but it's certainly going to take time, I guess.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-04 07:25:00
5289

I had a day off sick yesterday and spent it doing more work than if I had gone to work! Audit needed to be organised and end of month payouts as well. My voluntary stuff is taking over, I think, but at least I haven't been plagued by complaints about the way we have arranged the job so EQC tradesmen can do their job. Will go to work today otherwise will be too far behind. I have finished a prem beanie/bottee set and hopefully will get another done before I work in the shop tomorrow with Sue.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-05 07:09:00
5290

Thoroughly enjoyed working in the shop with suzy yesterday. We are a force to be reckoned with, eh, Sue? Had Fish and chip tea for DIL's birthday but came home early ' cos still not feeling up to scratch. We're going to have a cruisey day today, pottering around home and finishing yet another prem beanie. Hopefully I will get to start something different tonight.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-07 09:14:00
5291

yes we are Grizzly. so be warned every one lol. sometimes people just push a little too hard. Shop looks good, a true Aladins cave , everything pushed in to one room. Really enjoyed seeing you Griz, always a pleasure.

suzy59nz - 2013-04-07 20:08:00
5292

Found a similar yarn to Snowflake in Lincraft! Yippee. Started the onesie last night and have the back done and 1.5 legs done of the front. LOL Love the speed of 5.5mm needles. Back to the shop this morning, thank goodness someone has figured out how we can use the heater in the cramped space.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-08 07:16:00
5293

My Sil bought a new ralta to fix the internet probelms and connected it and now we cant even get a connection lol so much for that. Using my mobile. He is away so we have to wait. Grrrr hope baby is doing ok suzy

makerealbany - 2013-04-08 19:51:00
5294

More internet problems?! You poor thing, and having to wait will be frustrating. I listed some auctions over the weekend to find I cannot load the photos the way I used to. My photo files don't come up automatically when I 'browse' on TM! That is very frustrating too. I have found a way round it but don't understand why it's changed?
The onesie is fun to knit! But ha to interrupt it last night to knit 2 prs of baby sox for a TM order. Will post them this morning and get back to the onesie tonight. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-09 07:16:00
5295

Back and front done, sleeves done and half way up the hood. Yippee! Once hood is finished I have the foot pieces then I can start sewing it all up. Which might be a bit of a mission. And find some buttons the right size and colour.
I wonder how smartgirl is?

grizzly4 - 2013-04-10 07:21:00
5296

All the knitting done on the onesie - all the sewing up to do!
Yesterday the Women's group used the mdf coasters and hearts I ordered off TM to make gift sets for Mother's Day. Using decoupage and extra embellishments on the matching heart wall hanging, the effect was amazing. Out for coffee next week at the Naked Baker Café then a break for 2 weeks over the school holidays. Already their imaginations are running riot anticipating the trip next week. LOL.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-11 07:20:00
5297

Well finally we got a service guy out to replace the phone lines and connections in the house and voila Internet again hurrah. My darn back has been giving me gyp again. I am crunching away. Ouch ouch J says when I wince. He's a little character, hops on to the lazy boy and rubs my back lol.

makerealbany - 2013-04-11 20:25:00
5298

That is so cute! I am glad you are back up and running, It's a bit desperate, me talking away to myself. LOL. Entertaining I suppose for our mystery readers who never join in our conversations.
I have a very sore thumb this morning after sewing up the onesie. That yarn is not pleasant to sew up with, I have to say but wouldn't have the same effect if I had used something else. The feet were a mission having a number of parts to put together - just about did my head in. LOL. I just have the ears to put on and find the buttons then I can photograph it to show you. It better not be one of those things that sits in the shop for ages but then again if it sells quickly I will have to go through all of this again. Vicious circle. My next project is to knit wee jerseys for the wee lambs I bought last year.

grizzly4 - 2013-04-12 07:05:00

I meant your computer back up and running ,not you. Sorry. LOL.

Ha ha grizzly. Up at the beach to babysit as my daughter is working tomorrow. Had a nice afternoon with my friends after shopping. Got some new shoes from Zierra. I just love their shoes, so comfortable. Rang mum this morning just after my sister lol. Mum says we are the Mum police always checking on her ha ha. We can't win. If we don't ring for a couple of days she tells us she thought we had forgotten about her. Ah we'll what will we be like in our eightys. We have a Peter Pan show to attend tomorrow. My granddaughter A is a pirate. Every year her school puts on a production. They are very good. I am not too keen on sewing up either grizzly.
