| 5057 | just popping in, have decided i may be getting a new machine, as mine isn't going to be able to keep up they way it's going. And a slighly more modern machine with some pretty stitches would be nice for the baby clothes... Now to save up enough for one. Any recommendations for brands etc??? Have been using an elna until now. Want one that is affordable, good quality, works well for all sorts (quilts, clothes, upholstery etc) peferably with a 1/4 inch foot and walking foot ao i dont have to buy them seperate... easy to use, wont cost the earth for repairs or servicing, prob NOT digital if possible... | 5090 | I am so excited I wanted to quickly share with you. I went in to the craft shop to get and price my bits and pieces to make my quilt. Well what did I spy on the window wall. This amazing superdupa quilt of hens and a rooster. lol one was sitting on the pot. The best news I have been able to laybiy it. It means I can take more time on the quilt I am looking at doing and takes a deep breath find a quilting class to go to so that I can do it right. | 5093 | Hi Liz, agree with Twilight about the machine. I have a wonderful Bernina 930 which I bought off Trademe. The lady at the local Bernina shop told me if I was buying a second hand machine I should only buy a Bernina 830, 930 or 1008. However, she recommended the 930 as it does more than the 830 and would not be as expensive as the 1008 which are hard to come by anyway. I would absolutely recommend the 930 but it does not usually come with a walking foot. You don't need a 1/4 foot as again the Bernina lady told me how to set the machine for a 1/4.
