| 4960 | Because I'm happy to blow my own trumpet - and you ladies will appreciate what I've done here are two of the ones I've completed for Relay for Life fundraising. I have since done a Pink/Black/White one and am sewing a Red/White/Blue one. They are easy to do, I sit at my coffee table and cut one whole top out in an evening and then sew each night. | 4963 | I think about 10 - 12. I just keep cutting til I got enough. Each square is made up of a 4½" square, a 2½" x 4½" strip and a 2½" x 6½" strip. Sew the smaller strip to the square, then the longer strip to the rectangle you have just created. Then there are four of those to make a 12" block and I've made the quilts 4 x 5 blocks, so there's 80 of each of those three pieces to cut out. Once I've sewn enough I just lay them out on the floor and play around with the colours for a bit before joining them all. I've taken the easy way out and just stitched in the ditch to quilt the lot together. The first one has proper wadding in it but all the rest are having old blankets as the centre layer. By the way - I credit a trader on here called Izzysgran for the inspiration. I saw this listing and she told me what to do in the Q&A - check it out 253989430. She comes home so exhausted it usually takes her a few days to get over, but with all their work commitments was the only time to go. | 4973 | Morning all. Lovely quilts yduj. Are you a newbie to the column or have we just not met before. You are very brave Coalie, I have had several attempts at free motion quilting but it just turns into a mess and I throw it in the corner. Thankfully I haven't actually practised on a real quilt, just bits sandwiched together. I still have a couple of tops to quilt but need to take them to group where I can put two tressle tables together to oin each one. My old knees won't let me do it on the floor plus the dog would try and help so not worth the bother. How is your fairy quilt going Twi, look forward to seeing it finished. Is wet here today and very, very humid. Half an hour after I got out of the shower I felt like I needed another one. | 4988 | Hi Cindydog, yep Twi has sent Stan, looked over the fence and big garage door open and Midnight express is gone so Stan must be on the way. Its a bu**er being diabetic, I am too, so have to be careful of the eyes and feet, I have probs with both as well and sore fingers from all the pricks for the bloods, still I always say aren't we lucky we live today.
