Wondering if someone can help? Would stamps that are attached to Telephone Exchange cards still be classed as used or are they completely worthless? For example, I have a 1931 Arms Type Lemon 1/3 attached to one with a 4d Mitre Peak stamp. Both have been stamped 14 Feb 1946 - Ohura. Thanks

Hi, if that question was for me donaldo, the first stamp is purple, then the stamps are slightly over it, then black.

seedy4 NZ stamp catalogue....http://www.nzstam-
ps.com/Stamp-list.html...
Remember these are selling prices from a dealer, unless you have something rare you will not get anywhere near these prices.Generally stamps are fun,not a way to make any $$.
When looking through your stamps prior to soaking etc have a careful look for extra ink blobs,Dr Blade impressions, missing colours etc. These are the sort of things that maybe can take a normal "worthless" stamp and give it a bit of value. Postmarks are another avenue, some now defunct PO postmarks are worth a few $$.
These are the things that can make working through bulk lots of stamps rewarding.
Enjoy.

What about NZ Post Stopping Use Stamps on Parcels What about NZ Post Stopping Use Stamps on Parcels sent in NZ to NZ addresses from the 28th March. Another SAD STEP from NZ Post for stamp collectors.

466 I can't believe NZ Post! How are we collectors meant to get used high value stamps? It also annoys me that they use those horrible postmarks that cover the whole stamp with ink. I have e-mailed them a complaint. Well that's my moan for the day :)

468 Don. Does this mean that we can soon get the 'special' chance to partake in the 'once in a lifetime' offer of a limited edition cover with 'personalised' stamp, signed by the 'pictee'. Will there be a special order form??Tony

# 446 - Stamps/Labels/Parcel Post/28th March 2008 The info is under the title "Pricing in Proportion" - the new method of thinking for ripping us off further for postage. (lol). Just off the phone from NZ Post and apparently stamps can still be used on parcels (packet post is ending), BUT there will be no trackability with them. Trackability with parcels can only be offered if a label is used. Unlike international postage, (where if you use stamps you have to pay the 12/5% GST on top of what would have been the label price), the charge for label or stamp domestically is the same. Letter rates are changed drastically, which will affect many 50c envelope sellers.

# 446... I meant to say... perhaps we have been told different info? (Which I know has often happened with staff at NZ Post - one says one thing and another says different.)The above is what I was told when I phoned NZ Post this morning. I certainly hope we can still used stamps for parcels. All they need to do is provide a 'trackable' sticker for stamp use. Surely if they are charging the same price, they should offer the same service - ie: all trackable.

Stamps on Parcels? Jo, Would be nice if what you were told is true, that stamps can be used for all Parcels.
But their own PO Shop Posters that we have now received, state that stamps are only acceptable on Parcels upto 1.5kg and under 70mm thick. All Parcels over that require PO Labels or Prepaid Tickets.
The website version of Poster does show the same even though in small type at right under postage options.
If we can't pay for Parcels costing over $4, does that mean they will withdraw all stamps of face over that?
Yea right. Gary.

Having rung NZ Post again, it seems: Small items up to 1.5kg and 70mm thick: can use stamps, post shop generated label, parcel post postage included envelopes, pre paid tickets, permit post BUT no trackability offered at all. Larger items: All with tracking - postage options are post shop generated label, postage included envelopes, prepaid tickets. They said stamps may be used BUT there will be no tracking with them. The extra 12.5% (GST) on international parcel postage will still apply if stamps are used instead of labels. Yes, used higher value stamps will be harder to come by in NZ.

Anzac Stamps I see the Anzac stamps have two different 50 cent values in the set. I actually like the artwork of the red Poppy on the sepia war photos...
BUT...the miniature sheets come only as a booklet of 7 and not as singles. If this Anzac theme is to be a Trilogy over the next three years...I think NZ Post has been very tactical to choose such a popular topic to tempt collectors of miniature sheets into buying a booklet each year for 3 years at $19.90 each time.

Re NZ Post website Just had a look at their stamp section out of curiosity. Got on to the archive section which lists previous NZ issues. Never knew about the "Charlon" issues from 1855 - a whole new collecting area!
You would think the issuing authority would do their homework before making such a basic error.

Refund on Unused stamps Will the Post Office really give refunds on unused stamps ? What about stamps from 80's or 90's ? I have a lot from the Annual Stamp Books which I have been using on Trademe parcels, but now buyers will want trackibility so those stamps will be difficult to use.... Thanks for any help.

482 Surely a way around this is for NZ Post to generate the Post label and credit off value of stamps attached as a prepayment off the total. They have done it for local parcels sent in the past. Why is it now so difficult to do the same in future or on parcels or for international sendings ?
