Hi Tina... thanks.. This is an easy way to look through the thread for anything to do with peaches: Have a page of the thread open (or any internet page), then either click the F3 button at the top of your keyboard, or on the lower left of your keyboard, hold down the control (Ctrl) key, and at the same time press the letter "F". A box will pop up. Type a word you're looking for - ie "peach" or "chutney" and click next.. and again.. until you find what you're looking for.. or you've found all the threads or posts with that word in. Not on that page? Go to the next one and repeat.. This makes it easy to find any thread or posts in a thread that you're looking for.. Hope this helps.. Enjoy the thread.. :-)

TOMATO JAM Is Tomato Jam just another name for Tom Relish or chutney?
If not... is there a secret ingredient that sets it apart? I recently tasted some 'tom jam' that i would have to say was addictive!!! I just couldn't stop stick my cheese sticks into the jar!!! Does anyone have any ideas and any recipes for 'tomato jam'. Thank you!!!

Up it goes julie, can you help with the Tomatoe Jam? :o)

jenna68 - 2008-10-03 06:04:00
468

Hi Tracey.. I haven't made tomato jam.. though would think it would be similar to a tomato relish recipe, with the jam perhaps being a little smoother mixture than for relish.. Hi Mahairy.. my favourite tomato relish tastes good used with cheese, crackers, antipasto platters, etc.... It's the Edmonds book recipe that I use - though I make some changes - check out the recipe from post 133 onwards.. it's on page 3 of this thread.. the relish is really tasty.. and as I've written there, I don't thicken the recipe with flour or cornflour or anything else - so the result is a full flavoured relish.. I hope this helps..

Tomato Passionfruit Jam 1.25 kg ripe tomatoes peeled and chopped. 4 large Granny Smith apples peeled and chopped. 1 1/3 cups passionfruit pulp, 1/3 cup lemon juice. 1kg sugar warmed. METHOD: Combine the tomatoes and apples, simmer for about 25 minutes. Strain the passionfruit over a medium bowl. You will need to extract ¾ cup of juice. Hi Everyone.. thanks for your lovely words.. :-) I'm glad you're finding yummy recipes here.. Hi Sam.. The spiced vinegar is sold where malt and other vinegars are in supermarkets.. it's usually available in the 750ml bottle, and sometimes in a 2 litre bottle.. It has a nice flavour, and a little can be tossed through a lettuce type of salad - or a rice salad, just before serving - it gives a nice tangy flavour..

juliewn - 2008-11-13 00:55:00
493

Hi Tomdrum.. I hope you enjoy making your own preserves.. if you're looking for larger jars, Opp shop's usually have pop-top type jars very cheaply for sale - around 10c to 20c each - if you purchase some, check under the lids to make sure they haven't rusted, as they can rust if the lids are placed on the jar while the jar and lid are still damp. Isn't Lemon Honey delicious.. yum!.. I'm looking forward to having enough lemons on my young tree next winter to be able to make some again..
