Hi Grizzly How are the bulbs. Sometimes little beasties eat the bulbs, infect the bulbs or even rot the bulbs. My daughter has swollen feet, been told the same thing but she only has 3 weeks to go. She did not start suffering from the swollen feet until she was about 6 months. Still at Orewa this girl has some bacterial bug in her bowel, they think, Had more tests today after a lousy night. This weather sucks. Cannot clear the washing loads yet. Had 4 grandsons and one granddaughter here yesterday causing havoc and mayhem, ha ha. Jord just asked me what gets glue off things? Better go and have a look.

Superglue She was using this to glue her little tech decks(mini skateboards) and got some on her finger. They have left for school yay. Feel a bit weary but finished the shawl and started another last night. Going to gym to try and feel energetic ha ha. Usually works for me. Then off to the op shop. Got some lovely patterns the other day 20 cents each. Also got some Wendy Jazz Patterns off furball that look really pretty. Thought I would try using some of that mountain of Modavere Jazz, that I got from Spotlight in their sale. The kids at home have bought me a Hibiscus plant, have to work out where to put it. Lovely pressie though. All the veges are growing rampant and when I ducked home the other day saw that all the garden beasties are as well.

Bulbs?!!!! These were plants I purchased in pots from a plant shop. And what do you mean when you popped home?
How come you aren't in your cottage as planned? My daughter is 12 weeks on !!! Hooray, knitting her first pair of wee bootees and sox to take to lunch on Friday.

Well They grow from bulbs grizzly. I am in Orewa because my daughter has been really ill. Her hubby arrives home from Malaysia next Wed. She is getting better but kids finish school tomorrow so will stay til Friday night then go home for weekend and come back Sunday night. I pop back to the cottage to check on things but my expectant daughter and her partner are in the house in Albany. My cats miss me and fly out when I pop home. Poor things.

Knitting A Wendy Jazz pattern Had to knit the smallest size which is nuts because I am A 12. Thought I would do myself a light cardigan. Have to concentrate so only knit when kids are in bed.ha ha. If you drop a stitch it hurts.
Cooking bread for grandchildren's lunches and the house smells yummy and although I know you should not eat so late may make a midnite snack and a cuppa.

I looked up ranunculas in my plant book and it says they are a late winter plant so looks as if I bought the dregs in the plant shop. But they were so pretty. I might cut the stalks back and leave the rest in the ground, see what happens next year.
Gosh, your grandchildren are finishing school early. Our local schools are going all the way through to lunch time 21st.

Good idea grizzly They will pop up next year. Yes it is a bummer about the school holidays. Daughter feels better so she is off to work tomorrow. I usually go to Remuera to take my son shopping so I will have 2 extra passengers. Went to the Farmers today for pressies. They had a sale and I got my Invalid son a new indoor rubbish bin was $80 but paid half. He will be pleased. Still knitting this sweater. Are you knitting anything?

Hi Zoe Saw you had a listing. How are you getting on? Been busy with christmas preparation?. See you are in Hamilton. I used to live in Te Pahu for 15 years. Must say really miss my pals in Hamilton and the dancing on a Friday night.

Just finished bootees and 2 wee prs of sox in white and lemon to take to my daughter when we meet for lunch today. Celebrating the 12 week mark!! Will be head down on nothing else but her blanket till it's finished for Christmas. Took 80 kids to the Bee Movie yesterday at work. Out of 11 staff only 3 of us enjoyed the movie! I thought it was lovely, it's such a shame people (including children) are so into the action, sex or shoot 'em up movies these days.

Movies and kids Good on you grizzly. I love going to the movies with the kids but as they get older they only want to go see the action ones as you said. Still got a 4 year old grandson and we can watch nice videos at home. Congrats to daughter too. A is getting the last things ready. Birthpool arrived so they have checked that out and pumped it up.

It is a swimming pool which they will use later. Double base padding and all that jazz. They are going to rearrange the loungeroom to fit the pool in. The lines are full of baby things. Still at Orewa, shot home yesterday. Daughter at work today. Just changed all the sheets so lines are full here too. T is going to shop for her brother so I don't have to do the drive to Remuera. Wonderful!!! If more adults could get pleasure out of things like simple family type movies they would be better of. Society is changing so much and good family values are flying out the window.

Hi Zoe So neat to hear from you girl. Wastepaper baskets sound good. Still got 2 presents to get. List gets longer each year what with more grandchildren and weddings. You started a really neat thread.

Just another couple of hours this evening and baby blanket will be finished! Then a get to choose something new to make. 4 more days of work, I am so looking forward to my month off!Doesn't look as if our Christmas lights are going up this year 'cos of hubby's hours at this new job. Such a shame as this is the first Christmas in this house. Can't do everything I guess.

Something is going awry with the messages Looked at the dates and thought " What is happening here. Weird to say the lest. Well it is so hot here. Tried to get my girl to fill that paddling birth pool so her and I could jump in. ha ha. Back from son's and glad to get out of the traffic. Give me the country any day. Waiting until it is cool to start baking. Wrapt up all the pressies but no tree in the cottage not this year. Got a big one in the house but no lights on the outside maybe next year. I am getting all christmacy. Mum won a huge raffle so she is delighted with all her goodies.

What a cool dude Sometimes I do wish I had a man around to do all those things that men do. My daughter's partner is flat out collecting massive rocks from his mate's property for his landscaping in the back yard. He is doing a stirling job too. Cooked three chrissy cakes for us today. Up at Orewa tonight and I have the fruit boiling for the cakes I am baking for my eldest girl. She is off to work tomorrow so will be minding two grandchildren for the day. Stepdad arrives back from Malaysia tomorrow so no more babysitting for a month. yey. ha ha. Still knitting that sweater. It is pouring here good for the garden and the water tanks at home.

Just had a coffee Did I need it . Had to dash down for my usual 3 monthly bloods etc and always have to fast until tests are over. I was so hanging out for a coffee and some food. I guess it is official. I am a coffee and tea addict.!!! The more I saw everyone else eating and drinking the worse I felt. ha ha. Rain has stopped but no sun here. Even in this little town there are people everywhere tearing around in cars like lunatics. It is safer to walk here and we are only a street from town and 2 streets to the beach. Weather forecast is for fine on Friday grizzly.

But do we believe it? Knitting wee prem bootees towards the donation my craft co-op is making to the prem unit at the end of our financial year. I've already done 1 wee cardy and some beanies so hopefully will have a good pile to contribute by March.

You are a gem grizzly I am home again. Lovely to be in my little cottage. Still knitting that sweater but every now and then I will have a break and knit another premi hat or bootees for my midwife daughter to talke into work at Greenlane. Got a little pile there now. Was sorting out wrapping for pressies and found a big bag of assorted baby wools that I had bought on TM and stuffed into the wrong box. So that is great for the bubs. Daughter 2 has 9 days to go and so no more out of town trips for me. I guess because the sweater is knitted from Lashes I can only do so much and my eyes scream out for a break ha ha. Good excuse anyway.

I have finished work for a whole month!!!! :):):):
now I just have two days to prepare all the food for our Christmas Dinner on Xmas Eve and Xmas Family Brunch on Xmas Day!

Hi smartgirl Isn't it lovely having your grandchildren around. When three of mine lived in Aussi I had to keep going for holidays there because I missed them so much. Those three are in NZ now but two more are there now. They won't be home until after Xmas but their other Nana is there for Xmas. We take it in turns so they always have a Nana with them because their grandfathers died years ago. They do miss out on a lot not having a grand dad. But neither their other Nana or myself have rectified that probelm. ha ha. They are quite envious of others who are lucky to still have their granddads.

Gee grizzly You have a lot to do in such a short time. Been there done that for years, now I just bake and help the girls out and they put on the Brunch and Xmas dinner. I play with the grandchildren ha ha. For awhile anyway on the day. I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas. Resting today after doing a bit of gardening. Too hot out there. Going to Orewa tomorrow to sort out the outdoor furniture and gazebo etc for Xmas dinner. Having Brunch here. Dogs barking, someone here.

Good watch dogs! My warning system is 3 cats flying past to get under the duvet first!!They will not be happy today as the grandsons will arrive at 3 as their Mum is helping with the preparation for Xmas dinner tonight. And then they will be back tomorrow for pressies and brunch. Bed will be all warmed up by the time I get there.!

Hi grizzly Had a great but tiring day yesterday. After two big meals only snacking today ha ha. Went down to Albany to the sales to get a few things. Both my girls came with my granddaughter. There were people everywhere even parked on the Islands in the middle of the road. We went early to miss the traffic. Lol. Never mind got some great bargains. Got family birthdays tomorrow, Sat, Sun and Mon. Then a break until 9th Jan. My cats are fast asleep on my bed and I am sure they are glad all the children have left. Ha ha

Ditto being tired... Have had a wondeful couple of days with family though. Nothing can beat it!!! Went to the Casino for breakfast this morning for a friend's birthday. Lovely to eat something I haven't cooked and no cleaning up!! Daughter down with a nasty virus so wee grandson is staying a couple of days. Extra bonus although not the best circumstances.

Just home From daughter in law's Birthday barbi. Had a great time. I hope your daughter gets well soon grizzly. Nasty virus's around at this time. Lots of friends have someone ill. Daughter had a lousy night last night although Little Bubs is due on 29th she sure is wearing her Mum out. Isn't it lovely to have a meal someone else has cooked? Lucky you with grandson. I miss having little ones stay Christmas Eve. Maybe next year.

Family well again, I'm home alone for the first time in ages. Catching up on housework then might go spend some Christmas vouchers. Also need some more lettuce plants for garden. Then I plan to get into my cross-stitch of grandsons photo which has been put to one side for baby blanket.(Which they loved getting on xmas day, by the way).

grizzly4 - 2007-12-28 09:24:00

Off course they loved the blanket Why wouldn't they? My daughter is thrilled with everything I knit or sew. Thank heavens for commonsense Mums aye? I am alone as well. Oh joy, joy, joy. I am so enjoying the peace and quiet after all those busy days. Have a neat day grizzly.

Expectant Mum is 37 today and 1st baby is due. She had a lousy night but was still her lovely cheerful self this morning. Stupid partner of 5 years did not even think to get a card.!!! Some men can be so thick at times aye? All her siblings have rung and arranging lunch and pressies. Thank Heavens for family. She had to go and have a scan yesterday because she appeared to be the same size she was 3 weeks ago. Frightened her silly but baby is Over 8 pounds and fine. A does look small but bubby is not. She is burrowed down. T the midwife sis was mad that her sis was worried unnecessarily but better to be sure. I hope you and your hubby have fun today grizzly, no working.

Sounds like a great day... for you all. Had grandson as usual yesterday and visitors in the afternoon which was pleasant. Struggling a bit to get an order completyed for TM. A few rows and I'm nodding off!!! Not like me at all. Trying to get the books done for the shop before it opens up again next week. There's always something to do with family at this time of year and it's a bit of a juggling act to get other things done as well. Have another great day.

Can't believe I am half way through my month off. I seemed to have been preparing food and cleaning the house pretty much all of the first 2 weeks. I really have to start one of these jerseys for myself just to be able to say I have. Daughters next scan is Tues,29/1 and I'm going with them. Yippee. She will be 19 weeks by then.

Went to beach yesterday with all the grandchildren had a fab day. Went to visit a friend after that and got home at midnight. Bed at 2 then up at 4 back to bed at 6. I have put my Jazz jersey aside for awhile. Need to concentrate for that wool. Have finished 2 more baby cardis and 8 beanies. Did a bit of sewing but no mosaics. Need clean hands LOL. Beautiful blackhaired baby grand daughter Hi grizzly M R was finally delivered by c section at 8 last night. Started off as a homebirth at 12-30 night before. By 9 in the morning we had to take A to hospital. Strong contractions. After hours of pain my daughter had to finally agree to c section. M R was not distressed at all throughout the labour her little heartbeat was like a filly winning the Grand National Ha ha. She was stuck poor little mite. She looks exactly like her Mummy did when she was born. Curly hair and masses of it, black lashes and eyebrows and 8 pound 1. Smaller then they had thought but still her Mummy was only size 8 normally.

I have actually started an aran cardy for myself. First thing I have knitted for me in over 10 years. Here's hoping I am pleased with the end result. And it may be a long process as I am already going to have to interrupt it to knit for a TM auction.

Hi Girls She is my 3rd granddaughter and I have 6 grandsons. We lost one little boy years ago he would be 16 now. M R is a bit tongue tied so they will see a specialist today because she has trouble feeding. Midwife daughter is so handy. When her sister rings her she is always positive and helpful. All of bubbies cousins want to hold her and hug her all the time. They are just crazy about her. Mind you it has always been the same in our family. S who is 19 shot up from Hamilton to see her. Lots of fights about who will be her Godparents. There is nothing like a new baby to bring such laughter and happiness. We have baby clothes and pressies all over the house ha ha I just love it!!!!
