Home made soap too soft?

1 | I made some soap using soy bean oil. Unfortunatly the first time I made it, it didn't trace properly so it seperated. After a couple of days I poured it back into the pot and added a bit of water and recooked it and mixed it up until it was well and truly traced. It has been quite a while, and the soap works fine, but it is extremely soft. Will it ever harden, or is it just a result of using soybean oil to make the soap? tygertung - 2021-11-13 20:55:00 |
2 | Store bought soap does harden as it dries out, unused in the air, but I have never made soap by hand so... Could you put it into a wide mouthed jar and dip into it to use? oh_hunnihunni - 2021-11-13 21:56:00 |
3 | Nah it's not that soft, it is sort of like a rather soft bar. But you have to be careful to not let it get excessively wet. It does tend to harden back up a little after drying out a bit. tygertung - 2021-11-14 08:02:00 |
