I would like to buy a smart watch, possibly xiaomi for a gift however I think my friend has an Phone 7 and I know nothing about these things except they appear to be very good at checking health and may require a more recent phone. I guess it would possibly still check steps but is that all?
I know her iPhone does that.

The Xiaomi Mi bands are great. Extremely good value for money. Plenty of Youtube videos on how to connect them to an Iphone

The Mi Band isn't the same as the Mi watch.

Hubby had a Mi Band it had good functionality but a poor strap and it fell off.
