Also be aware that if you buy any Parallel imported items, (not just from the shop with that name but from anyone who sells parallel imports), these items are covered by the CGA but ONLY by the retailer and NOT by the Manufacturer as is usually the case. Hubby bought a phone from Parallel imports a few years ago when they had a shop at The Base Te-Rapa Hamilton. It developed a serious issue and he went to get them to sort it out but the shop had disappeared. The Auckland shop was unhelpful. And so he tried the Manufacturer, (Sony), and they said "Not helping you as we don't have to under Nz law". They were right, (they supplied a Pdf with the relevant part of the law in it), apparently parallel imported items are actually considered to be 2nd hand and the Manufacturer is Not liable for repairs or replacement in the event of issues. That's Law. For ANY parallel imported stuff. So bear that in mind also. Saving a few dollars on the initial purchase isn't always a good idea.

In Hubbys case Sony did indeed come to the party in the end but only because Hubby got friendly with their then National Marketing Manager, who was a very nice guy indeed.

I have bought several Xiaomi phones from overseas. I have always bought them with the assumption that if there was a problem I would lose the money. Fortunately all of them are still going fine after several years. "Touch wood" The only problem I had was dropping my one once too often onto a concrete floor. Pleasingly I managed to get a new aftermarket screen for under $50 and fixed it myself. If you are not willing to take the risk I would pay a bit more money and buy one here.

Pricespy also contains reviews of these companies.
